She escaped the man who watched everything. Now she has to survive the past that followed her.

Ayliara left the Halcyon with one bag, almost no money, and a single promise to herself: she would build a life beyond Marek Virelli. In a Greek coastal town, she is determined to prove that distance can finally make her free.

But Marek has never mistaken distance for goodbye.

He is still watching. Still protecting. Still willing to burn down every threat that comes near the woman who ran from him.

When danger from Ayliara’s past closes in, running is no longer enough. To stay alive, she must decide whether Marek is the monster she escaped—or the only man ruthless enough to keep her.

I write the kind of love stories that keep you up at night not because they’re sweet, but because they scare you a little.

My debut novel, The Sinner of Mute, is about a girl who never speaks and the man who takes everything anyway. It’s dark. It’s intense. And if you’ve ever rooted for the villain just because he loved too hard (or too wrong), you’ll probably understand why I wrote it.

Thanks for being here. 💛

Keep Me by Maria Rahaman is book 2 of the Halcyon Duet #2. It picks up where Watch Me’s cliffhanger left off.

What worked for me:
Marek is still absolutely unhinged, morally black, and yet oddly principled. He’s a monster hunting monsters. I loved how his backstory gave him depth and explained his motivations, as well as the true purpose of the creepy Halcyon Asylum being transformed into the ominous housing facility.

Even though Marek remains 100% obsessed with Ayliara, he actually gives her the choice to return and doesn’t rush her. But don’t worry, he still does his over-the-top, unhinged “acts of love”. Think of a cat leaving the dead rodent as a gift for its owner! These moments were so outrageous they actually made me laugh out loud. What the heck, Marek!

I appreciated that Ayliara comes into her own, makes her own decisions (even if Marek is quietly manipulating the outcomes), and takes part in enacting her revenge. And the revenge, whoa, lets just say this is pitch black!! I loved that it all came full circle and our anti-hero Marek took out every one of her monsters in the best ways.

Where it faltered:
I loved the ominous, psychological tension of Watch Me, and that atmosphere disappeared for most of this book. It resurfaced briefly in a few scenes, but the shift was drastic. I also noticed repeated phrasing and typos that pulled me out of the story. The pacing swung between fast and slow, and several convenient villain wrap-ups near the end weakened the tension.

It may not have the haunting edge of book 1, but Keep Me ends the duet with unhinged vengeance and a touch of dark tenderness (and over-the-top spice) that fans of morally black anti-heroes and pitch black romance will appreciate.

This is an extreme dark romance with heavy themes, so make sure to check the content warnings before diving in! A dark, steamy stalker romance soaked in obsessive devotion, surveillance, morally gray protection, dominance. This book starts right where the last one left off and Lia thought she was getting away from Marek, but Marek is still the same possessive, obsessive stalker we met in the first book. So, if you enjoy obsessive men, morally black characters, suspense, and a romance that pushes boundaries, this duet is definitely worth checking out.

If you are stepping into a story by Maria Rahaman, you already know to throw your ideas of a "wholesome, morally gray hero" completely out the window. Keep Me delivers exactly what her readers crave: pure, unchecked obsession, intense psychological tension, and a pitch-black devotion that borders on terrifying. The dynamic between the main characters is incredibly raw. Rahaman excels at writing possessive, unapologetic alpha figures who don't care about being the good guy, and the push-and-pull dynamic here will keep you glued to the pages late into the night. The atmosphere is beautifully grotesque, heavy, and deeply immersive. The only reason this is a 4-star review instead of a perfect 5 is that the pacing felt a little rushed during a few critical plot transitions in the middle of the book. I wanted just a bit more time to breathe and absorb the complexity of the secondary characters. That being said, the dark romance elements and the overarching plot twists completely hit the mark.Note: This is an extreme dark romance with heavy themes. Make sure to check the content warnings before diving in!.

DARKER THAN HAUNTING ADELINE!

Ok so after reading the first book of thr duology, Watch Me, I was gutted i had to wait for this, but so glad i got to read it!!

I love the concept of the story and just how dark Marek actually is.
Hes possessiveness is another level than anything i have ever read!

The dark storyline isnt anything i have read before and i LOVE my dark romance. I would go as far to say, this is way darker than Haunting Adeline! Some of the dark scenes, the trafficking, the women in cages, holy....!

I am so happy that I got the opportunity to read this i do wish that there was more build to the peak of the story and really feel that tension!

This is the second part of the duet and I couldn’t wait to dive in. While it is still a dark romance with a plethora of trigger warnings and explicitly graphic scenes this book had a light sweeter feel to it. I know it’s a huge contradiction but so true. Lia is on the run and determined to leave her crazy stalker behind. Settling in a small and weird town doesn’t give her the freedom and peace she was searching for. This book does have a few surprises I wasn’t ready for.

She knows exactly how dangerous he is, and this time she chooses him anyway.

Ayliara leaves The Halcyon determined to build a life beyond Marek’s suffocating obsession. A new town, a room, and a job should feel like freedom, but that freedom starts shrinking as connections disappear and the unsettling sense of being watched follows her.

Marek never stops tracking her. Protective, possessive and unapologetic, he stays out of sight while controlling the world around her. But when Ayliara finds herself facing a danger she can’t outrun, Marek becomes the man she desperately wants to find her.

Coming back together doesn’t erase what separates them. Ayliara knows Marek crosses boundaries in the name of keeping her, but she’s no longer simply reacting to his obsession. She begins deciding which parts of his darkness she can accept, while confronting the darker desires and impulses taking shape inside herself.

Their connection becomes fiercer, rougher and unexpectedly domestic. Ayliara grows confident in her desires and learns that choosing Marek doesn’t have to mean losing herself. Marek remains controlling and intensely possessive, but his devotion becomes more exposed as he faces something control can’t guarantee: she has to choose him freely.

Together, they move from contested control toward mutual fixation, fierce loyalty, and uninhibited intimacy. Ayliara increasingly meets Marek’s darkness willingly, turning their relationship into something psychologically tangled, sexually charged, and unmistakably their own.

A dark, ultra-steamy stalker romance steeped in obsessive devotion, surveillance, morally gray protection, dominance, and blurred boundaries. It’s about autonomy, trauma, surrender, and a woman discovering that freedom can also mean deciding for herself what love and home look like. ‍

The Elevator Pitch: She runs to reclaim her freedom, but distance only reveals how deeply the man she left has already threaded himself into her life. When danger closes in, the ruthless protector she escaped becomes the one she can’t stop reaching for, forcing her to confront the difference between being possessed and choosing where she belongs. Dark, obsessive, and fiercely intimate, their story turns love into a question of autonomy, trust, and how much darkness two people can knowingly choose together.

Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥 Ultra-Steamy / Erotic Romance

After giving Watch Me five stars, I was really excited to get back to Lia and Marek. I absolutely loved their story in the first book, so I had high hopes for this one. While I didn't enjoy it quite as much as Watch Me, I still enjoyed getting more of these two.

At the end of the previous book, Lia needed some space from Marek and his overwhelming presence in her life. She heads to a small coastal town in Greece, hoping to start over and find some independence. Of course, Marek isn't exactly the type of man who is going to simply let her disappear. He follows her, buys a villa in town, and makes it very clear that if she walked away from him, she's going to be the one who walks back to him.

Marek is still the same possessive, obsessive stalker we met in the first book, and I actually liked that he didn't suddenly change personalities. He continues to watch over Lia and make sure she's safe, but he never takes away her free will. As obsessive as he is, Lia is always allowed to choose him, and I appreciated that distinction.

This book also deals heavily with human trafficking, which was a difficult subject for me personally. There are several instances of trafficking throughout the story, and that made this one harder for me to read than the first book. The mystery and danger kept things moving, though, and Marek was very much in his element when it came to protecting Lia.

I think Watch Me was stronger because it focused more on Marek and Lia's relationship and their unique dynamic. Keep Me expands the story into darker territory, and while that wasn't quite as enjoyable for me personally, I still liked these characters and their relationship.

Marek is still completely obsessed with Lia, still possessive, and still an excellent stalker. 😂 If you enjoyed Watch Me, I'd definitely recommend continuing the series.

Keep Me is book 2 in the Halcyon Duet series and when I tell you I am addicted!!! I am sooo sad it's over. You do need to read book 1 in order to understand what's happening in this story.
I am obsessed with Marek. Like... I would take Ayliara down for this man. I may not win, but I'd be willing to try.
This story picks up right where we leave off in book 1. I loved the way book 2 started off. With Lia in a new town and everything feeling suspicious and scary and new, the beginning of book 2 was giving me spooky vibes. I was sooo mad at her for running in the first place. But the fact that Marek knew where she was the whole time and gave her that false pretense of freedom while keeping her safe from a distance.... :sigh: it just melts me. This one does get a bit dark with what happens to the victims but if you read things of a darker nature, it's not something you won't be able to read through.
I do love Marek's and Ayliara's relationship. But I felt like she needed to leave and go through what she did in order to really appreciate why he does what he does, and to really appreciate him. While she did come into herself a little at the end, I was hoping to see her wanting to be involved in the missions with him and to see them do it side by side. After witnessing what she did and being completely helpless, I was wanting that to be a driving force to want to go out there with him and do what she can for these women. Aside from that slight disappointment, I absolutely loved this duet. This duet was my first introduction into the author's writing and I am hooked. Fan for life right here!! I cannot wait to see what's next!

I’ll start by saying I did not read *Watch Me* first, and this is definitely a duet where you need to! I spent a good portion of the beginning feeling lost and trying to figure out the history between Ayliara and Marek, so that impacted my overall experience with this one.

Once I started piecing everything together, though, I became much more invested. Marek is intense, obsessive, possessive, and very morally gray—the kind of character where you’re constantly questioning whether he’s protecting her or completely unhinged. Their relationship is messy and complicated, which fits perfectly with the darker stalker-romance vibe.

There’s plenty of suspense, danger, obsession, and “touch her and die” energy, and the second half definitely pulled me in more than the first.

My biggest recommendation: **read *Watch Me* first!** I think I would have enjoyed *Keep Me* much more if I’d had that emotional connection and backstory going into it.

Keep Me was such a wild continuation of the Halcyon Duet! After Watch Me left me needing answers, I jumped right into this one and was completely hooked.

Marek and Ayliara’s relationship is anything but normal. The obsession, possessiveness, danger, and tension between them are turned all the way up. Marek is still completely unhinged when it comes to Ayliara, and his “touch her and die” energy had me eating it up. Their chemistry is intense, messy, and seriously addictive.

I also loved that there was more going on beyond the romance. The darker storyline and secrets surrounding Halcyon kept me guessing, and I liked seeing more layers to both characters.

This is definitely dark romance, so check the trigger warnings before reading. It’s not a sweet, fluffy love story, but if you enjoy obsessive men, morally black characters, suspense, and a romance that pushes boundaries, this duet is definitely worth checking out.

After reading “Watch Me”, I was really curious what would happen next with Marek and Lia. So when I got the chance to ARC read their conclusion, I jumped right in.

The story picks up right where we left off, and gains an even darker edge to it. We get more insight into human trafficking, the lowest scum of the earth. And ofcourse, all the dangers that hide in that dark world. Which made it a thrilling read, that kept me on my toes from the first page to the last. I’m sure glad I’m not a nailbiter!

Ofcourse I loved Marek and Lia, really enjoyed their pull and how Lia struggled with accepting a love that scares her. Because let’s be honest, there is nothing healthy or sane about the way Marek loves Lia. But hey, fiction is fun! 😉And oh, the spice! Seriously off the charts. Also, does anyone else have a sudden craving for cherry wine? 🤭

The second book of this series came to complete the story... but omg what did I read!!! The book from the second it started was a rollercoster of the right amount of emotions and actions. The FMC's growth and her confidence gain in the second book was so well written. And the MMC what a psycho.. no matter what she can never escape him in this cat and mouse chase. He only gave her the illusion that she was free only to always be the one she relies on in the end. I went through the second book in matter of hours... and what I loved is that even if it is a stalker, very dark romance and the physical intimacy was raw, unhindged and quite frankly not always consensual Marek will stay with me for a very long time and no its not like stalkhom syndrome which i was very greatful for... caint wait to read more of this author's work.

Running from the devil is one thing. Realizing he might be exactly where you belong? That’s another story. 🖤

After the obsession and sheer unhingedness of the first book, we’re back for another twisted ride. Desperate to escape, she finds herself surrounded by dangerous people and nefarious secrets, while her ever-watchful stalker is never as far away as she thinks.

The atmosphere is deliciously unsettling, the obsession remains intense, and the spice? 🔥 Absolutely delivers! The chemistry is scorching, and these two definitely know how to turn up the heat. 🥵

Sometimes, the scariest part isn’t the monster chasing you. It’s realizing you might not want him to stop. 🖤

This is totally the part 2 that is needed for part 1, again check the TW cause there are some dark topics. My one complaint from book 1 was some inconsistency across scenes and I did not find that to be an issue in this one. Marek is still just as crazy for Lia. Lia wants space and Marek will give it but he'll watch her the whole time to ensure her safety. Too bad his men are doing it poorly and this story gives a bit of a few full circle moments. The storyline is quite the page turner and quite the twists and turns. The spice is good and no more food is ruined, not sure if I'm sad about that or not lol

Lia has escaped for the Halcyon and Marek.

She tries to lose her identity and be under the radar.

She flees to a small place in Greece and thinks she’ll be safe.

That’s until she goes out to a bar and is suddenly faced with human traffickers.

Unbeknownst to Lia, Marek has been tracking her and is actually living on the same place. He rescues her then and then again from Lukas who she thought was a harmless friend.

The darkness of the book is very well written and the traffickers really make your skin crawl.

The passion between Marek and Lia is sky high and makes for interesting reading.

This book was amazing! Just like the first one....I loved Marek and his sexy unhinged everything lol. The way he was literally obsessed with Lia..it was so romantic in the most unhinged way possible. The only thing I didn't really like was the ending..I feel like it could have been longer..but that is my opinion. I still absolutely loved it and will definitely be looking for more books by this author, because she never disappoints!

I have waited for this second book in the duet since I finished the first book!
It starts right where the last one left off and Lia thought she was getting away from Marek..... Of course not he's her stalker! She realizes that even all the crazy stuff he may do and give her, he is always there for her when she needs him and saves her.
I can't wait to see what Maria has next for us!

Wow if you thought the first one of the Halcyon series was good and that Marek was intense you would definitely love the conclusion to their story. But I hope it’s not the end that there would be more around this world the author has created and will see some of the characters we came to meet in here.

Welp... Marek is a menace but he's a delicious obsessive broody sexy one that's for sure! And he's secretly a teddy bear that just wants to save the world all while devoting all of his love and attention on Lia!!

This was a crazy dark adventure and I couldn't put it down!

Marek's obsession with Lia is crazy. He stalks her, and doesn't let anyone near her if he can. The ones that were able to lay hands on her were brutally injured or killed. We love a possessive man!

Watch Me left me wondering if Lia would continue running and if Marek would let he go or follow. Of course he was always close by to save her when she needed him the most!

I love how they can just both be themselves and it works out, who would have guessed Lia would have a dark side too.
