When I died in an airplane crash, I thought I'd finally escaped my hellish life. However, I found myself in another nightmare when I awoke in the body of Rudbeckia de Borgia, a minor villain from a novel destined to die at the hands of her husband. Surviving the dysfunctional Borgia family is hard enough, but now I have to marry the man who will kill me! Still, it's okay, I just have to convince him, his family, and all his countrymen that I'm completely harmless. How hard can that be?

Writing (or the translation?) is very repetitive, with constant focus on some weird descriptors (chick, assassin, bear knight, flower knight etc) that are thrown in at every possible opportunity. The 'comedic' parts weren't very funny. It made me appreciate what a manga format brings to web novel stories.

It deals with some heavy topics such as eating disorders and mental and physical abuse. I really appreciate how Ruby managed to evolve from her terrible experiences with her family, and I love that it wasn't treated lightly. I just wish the side stories dealt more with Ruby's happily ever after, I had no interest in reading about her child when I didn't get a satisfactory conclusion to Ruby's journey. I needed to read about it from her perspective. And since the overall plot seemed cut short, I don't see why we couldn't at least get Ruby's HEA on a satisfactory level.

The manwha is spectacular and i feel qualified to say so considering i read so many in this specific genre that i am struggling to find more i haven't read yet.
The first part where the protagonist puts on the cringe "fan" act is a little tough to push through but you are quickly rewarded if you manage.
The problem with the novel is that the act seems to never end, not only that, but it is also harder to digest than in the manwha since we are more involved in the protagonist's thoughts. 70 chapters in and she's still referring to her husband as "monster" in her mind, even after having started to be genuinly affectionate with him. I understand the trauma, but i couldn't get past it.
To be fair I did read the english translation which is genuinely monstrous, unlike Izke. I feel like the translators changed the words without altering the structure of the sentence resulting in a weird mixture of one language's terms and another's grammar. It's readable to be sure but not pleasant by any means.

This novel about a girl, Ruby who always acted as a bright and cheerful girl. She never show her true colour to other people. She struggled to stay alive while at the same time she need to make sure that her husband will never kill her. When the truth came out, when other people know that Ruby was abused and tortured by her big brother, I felt really happy. Finally other people know the truth. And finally Ruby managed to let other people came into her life. Her husband, Izek always be there for her and always support her. For me, this is a very good novel with good lesson of life.

this book stopped being canon the moment . regardless of that, IT WAS GOOD. i'm a sucker for miscommunication and enemies to lovers. also ruby and izek were so hot in their first life wth. i want more.
i was originally going to give it three stars, but the fourth one is for the religious trauma the author clearly has (same author as stepmother's marchën!)
