3 stars...probably closer to 2.5, but I'm feeling generous

I want to say, first off, that I really like that this is 1st-person, all-hero POV. As a change up, I like reading romance from the perspective of the hero. It's fun.

The premise was pretty great, the delivery, not so much.

We have our hero, Paul, he comes from a great, god-fearing, down-to-earth, loving family. His mom and dad have set such a good example of marital bliss and fidelity that he's gotten himself into a program that's an off-shoot of Sex Addicts Anonymous called Abstinence Until Love. He's serious, he's committed. But a certain divorcee is testing his will.

The divorcee in question, Elle, is on a mission that is the complete opposite of Paul's. She's looking for fun in the sack. No strings, no bullshit. Just feeling good after a marriage of feeling worthless and undesirable.

So you can see how this could be a fun push-and-pull. They want each other, but their respective end goals are too different to make it work.

Unfortunately, during the first half of this book I couldn't buy that they were having this sexually-charged yet "platonic" friendship. They had zero business talking to each other. She came across as desperate and frankly, a little rude.

If we were supposed to believe that Paul was truly a sex addict, working hard toward reform, then Elle's actions, words...they all were asshole-y. If he were an alcoholic, would a friend constantly talk about enjoying lots of drinks, expressing the desire to share lots of drinks with him, basically pouring drinks in front of him???? I really didn't like Elle for this.

But part of me couldn't buy that Paul was a sex addict anyway. The first half was really hard to swallow. I didn't believe or buy into any of it and some of the dialogue was cheesy as hell:

"I just wanted to feel sexy and independent. Like those girls on those racy cable shows."

There was a middle-portion of this book that I felt was better, where I liked the relationship they had--the relationship where Elle was a little more toned-down in her sexual overtures, where Paul was less about thinking they were friends and more about just biding his time, waiting for her to be ready for a relationship because he was in love with her (this seemed more believable).

THEN...something happens and, ugh, and Paul annoys me. .

There's an issue with an ex-lover that doesn't really ever get resolved. I kept waiting for some sort of confrontation, but it never came. Apparently, a text message was enough to tie it up. ???

I gave this a 3 out of generosity because the second half was more enjoyable, but now that I've reflected a bit, I just can't give it a 3. I'm downgrading to a 2. Sorry.

Wet was a sweet, fun, hot and heartwarming read.

Both Paul and Elle were likable and very relatable characters. I enjoyed watching their friendship develop into something more. They made me laugh, swoon and I even shed a tear or two.
Lot's of feels for this heartfelt story.

I am pleasantly surprised how much I liked this book! In the beginning I had to get into the book but I continued and am very happy I did because I am known to DNF a book if it doesn't pique my interest right away. This book went a whole other direction than I expected it to go. I was expecting a more erotica type of book with a LOT of sex, but I was happy that wasn't the case. It had a very unique story-line that I enjoyed reading. The writing is great!

The main character Paul is swoon-worthy, he is a recovering sex addict who has an amazing self control. Elle really pushed all his buttons, I really loved reading about these two characters. Paul is not having any sex and Elle wants to finally explore her sexuality, I was feeling both their frustrations. Paul was such a great friend and did so much for Elle when she was struggling with things. I would love to find my own Paul: he is sweet, considerate, honest and super HOT. I also enjoyed reading about his parents, brother and sister. Such a great group of people. I'll definitely be checking out Ruth's other books!

4.5 stars!

I love the cover of this book. I was expecting a story that was more erotica than romance, not just from the cover, but also the title, and the blurb. I can't tell you how surprised I was to start reading and realize this book was a little bit of everything, and added all together it was great!

I was warned this book was much hotter than any of Ruth Clampett's previous books. I wasn't worried about that, because high levels of heat don't bother me. Instead of getting an erotic romance, I got a romantic comedy with erotic tones. It was somehow equally spicy while retaining this sweetness one doesn't expert when erotica is thrown into the mix. Of course this sweetness came from Paul, a recovering sex addict.

I can't tell you how much I loved Paul's character. I mean he's this built and well hung man who has struggled in the past and come to the realization he can't have sex until it's meaningful. He's also close to his family. The thing I loved most about him was how honorable he was. I know how hard he fought to maintain the tenuous control he'd gotten over his life. I really loved how he was with Elle and enjoyed seeing him grow and mature.

I love Elle too. She's beautiful inside and out. She's the wild one in their non-relationship. I knew from the first moment she and Paul met that she'd challenge him. I also knew there was more to her than met the eye. Elle may be this beautiful successful woman on the outside, but she has her own issues from her past she has to deal with. I loved how adventurous she was.

I think the biggest and best surprise is the story itself. It's told exclusively from Paul's point of view. Plus the fact that it takes all these unexpected turns is a bonus. This isn't your typical story featuring a recovering sex addict and someone who wants sex all the time. There's humor but also a touch of seriousness with all of the heat as well. I loved Paul's interactions with his family. They simultaneously made me laugh and groan. Elle and Paul were both delightful and frustrating. The amount of heat they have off could probably power a car, but watching them dance around each other was entertaining. They just couldn't get it right. Something or sometimes someone would get in the way of their being anything except friends.

Wet was a delightful surprise I couldn't put down. I flew through this book and wouldn't mind reading more about Paul and Elle, and maybe even Paul's single brother. I do know that Ruth Clampett did a fantastic job with this book because I will be going back to read her previous books. If her writing is anything like that in Wet, they're sure to become new favorites of mine.

This story was fun to read. It was light and funny at times
Paul is a recovering sex addict. When he meets Elle he is immediately attracted to her. Elle is only interested in casual hook ups while he is trying to find the right woman to date.
Will they give in to their attraction or will they find others to complete their very different goals?
I liked the writing style. It was flowing easily and the characters were animated and vivid.
I do think that it could have wrapped up a lot sooner but other than that, I think that romance lovers will enjoy it.
3.5 to 4 Stars from me.

For a book with a hot guy on the cover and named Wet, it was very tame. There was no sex until around 80% (I was skimming by this point).
It was too mushy and sweet for my liking.

First of all, don't let the title fool you. They met because he was helping his dad in his sprinkler business, and she was the client. The title sounds dirty, and it is misleading. Although the author tries to entice with the title and the main characters' attempts at sexual shenanigans, it's really not that type of book.

This was a mostly cute read, once I got past the first few chapters. I had a hard time with their initial meeting and the juvenile way they acted toward each other. Please forgive this analogy, but it read like a script to a bad porno, one with a plot, but without the sex. In fact, it really kind of felt like a teenage-boy fantasy, like most plotted pornos do: the hot divorcee throws herself at the lawn boy, if the lawn boy was a 30-year-old landscape architect. But in this case, the lawn boy turns her down. It was rather ridiculous, but not bad enough to make me stop reading. I have to say, though, if it didn't get better, I would have stopped reading.

Luckily, it does get better. The reader does have to suspend a moderate amount of disbelief in order to buy in to the fact that a sex addict would be disciplined enough to show the restraint Paul does in this weird scenario, making me question his addiction. And Elle repeatedly throws herself at him, making her come off as so pathetically needy, that it's hard to like her, especially since he tells her he's in a program for sex addicts, yet she still purposely tempts him. It makes her kind of a bitch. Yet they forge a friendship that is pretty stinkin' sweet in the midst of all the bitchy weirdness. That became the turning point for the book for me and gave me hope it would be ok.

It was cute watching these two fall in love. It wasn't easy for the two of them to get together. They had some tough obstacles, but the author didn't make the reader endure crushing devastation to get them to their endgame. I like friends-to-lovers tales, and I like it when the story has just a touch of hardship to make the journey worth it.

If you want a good story, with well-rounded characters, which will make you laugh, giggle like crazy, hope and believe in love and redemption, then stop reading this now and purchase this book!

When Paul McNeill, a landscape architect by trade, gardener/sprinkler man by affiliation and a full-time recovering sex-addict meets Elle Jacoby, Tinder member, and sex-starved divorcee, the heat index rose to lava formation. Firm in his desire to overcome strong physical urges in favor of something more permanent, more tangible, and just plain more, Paul finds the temptation that is Elle hard to ignore. Will she prove to be his downfall?

Ruth Clampett delivers a witty, adult, and down right sexy novel of two people who seem to want the same thing but are at odds on the road they are traveling. This book is just plain fun to read!

If Clampett aimed to shock at the first chapter, she succeeded. The dialog is fresh, titillating, and oh so much fun. The teasing, flirting, and innuendo is sure to make you blush.

Paul and Elle are hard characters to forget, but they are not the only characters you will love. You'll want to be part of those weekly Thursday dinners that Paul's family always hosts. I want a seat at that dinner table!

Paul and Elle's love story is a convoluted mess of missed opportunities, bad timing, poor communication, interfering relatives, and divergent paths. But it's a path that both Paul and Elle negotiate with wit, pathos, sincerity, fumbles, laughter, pain, and honesty.

With this story, Clampett delivered characters and a plot that are endearing and unforgettable.

I enjoyed this story so much that I procrastinated in finishing the book. I didn't want it to end! But no matter, I've hunkered down this holiday weekend to read; I intend to read this story over and over and over again. Momma McNeill, please set another plate at the table, for here I come.

Abstinence Until Love is a program Paul is in. He also attends sex addiction meetings. Paul's father believes he has a problem so he insisted he attend these programs.
Ironically Paul meets Elle who is looking to get laid. Paul is trying hard to refrain from having sex with her. Elle is divorced because he ex was not giving her the intimacy and attention she craves. Elle wants and enjoys sex so she turns to Tinder to find men who want to have sex with her.
It's funny. It's sexual. The flirting is fun. The teasing is hot. But I'm growing impatient. What began as a fun game of Paul trying to maintain sexual control and Elle trying to break his control has turned into Elle seeking sex from guys on Tinder. His mother is setting her up with his brother. Then Paul's mother set him up with another girl.
Elle is Paul's biggest challenge. He has been maintaining his abstinence for two years. He does not plan on having sex until he finds love. Ironically, Elle does not believe or want to be involved in a long term relationship. Her ex ruined that concept for her.
I'm definitely creeped out and scared of dating especially using Tinder.
The sprinkler man is a metaphor for the title wet. It leads to some very funny and sexy dialogue.
It's excruciatingly long. I understand being friends but friends who tell each other sex stories is getting to be frustrating even to me. Not to mention Elle has made her feelings clear that she wants Paul. Paul just needs to man up and claim her already. One too many excuses and situations kept delaying the inevitable. I grew bored and impatient. It was okay.

**DEBBIE'S 5 AMAZING STARS REVIEW**

Holy Cow!!!! This book blew me away!!!!! It was not what I thought it was going to be. It was soooooo much more!

Let me start off by saying when I picked this book up, judging from the title, I thought one thing but man was I wrong. This book had everything you want and more. It was filled with some of the best and funniest banter I have ever read. The chemistry between the two main characters was fantastic!!!!

This book took me on a ride filled with all sorts of emotions but for a majority of the book I read with a huge smile on my face. I wanted to crawl into my reading device and hug the crap out of Paul. He just moved up to one of my top book boyfriends.

This book was told in Paul’s POV. I have to say that the book totally felt like it was a male telling the story and loved every minute of being inside his head. I loved Elle. She was witty and full of spunk. The secondary characters were fantastic and added to the wonderful humor the author had in this book. I loved the Thursday night dinners and always knew that those chapters were going to have me cracking up.

The author did an amazing job with the relationship between Paul and Elle. She took the time to build their friendship and the dialogue between these two felt realistic. I was pulling at my hair after a while wondering if these two would ever wake up and realize exactly what was standing right in front of them. The author had me sitting on the edge of my seat praying things were going to go the way I wanted them to go.

The plot was unique and loved every single thing about this book. Loved that Paul was a recovering man-whore who joined an abstinence program to stop sleeping with every woman he met. I loved how Elle pushed all his buttons and the sexual tension between these two was off the charts HOT!!!!!

“Oh, the irony! You are a reformed sex addict and I am sex starved. What a cruel world this is.”

“Honestly, watching her eat that burger is the closest thing to watching porn but everyone’s clothes are still on.”

“Do you always moan that much when you eat?” Her cheeks immediately blush pink. “Was I that loud?” “Uh huh. That would have made a great sex scene soundtrack.”

This is the first book I have read by this author. Her writing style is fantastic and I certainly will be reading more of her work. Loved this book and I think if you love a book filled with fantastic banter and humor but still has you in tears a few times this is a MUST READ!!!!!

Ok so I'm not really sure where I stand on this book. Honostly I don't even know if I want to give it 4 starts. I'm thinking maybe 3 would be better.
Elle completely threw me for a loop. Yes I love a strong, independent woman that goes balls to the wall for what she wants and works hard to get it but she is actually a whore. Like I'll take whatever and whoever I can't get kinda whore. She throws herself at Paulie the first time she sees him and while that whole thing could've been hot, it wasnt..it was just desperate to me. Her entire attitude seemed desperate. Then you have Paul who is on a 2 year dry spell trying to better himself and all she does is try to make it harder for him. Yea try a little but damn this girl was relentless seriously. She actually got on my nerves and I was kinda hoping he would just move on. Then the poor guy falls for her and bam all her insecurities come crashing to the front. Yes she said she never wanted another relationship but my god all she did was try to jump his bones or talk about his "anaconda" and she's shocked that the guy actually wants to do the decent thing and build a future with her, and yes I will say that her obsession with his junk was over the top to say the least. I gave this book 4 stars because of Paulie and Paulie alone. He was an awesome character and really made this book worth my time, but Elle... I just don't know how I feel about her and that kills me. I say to each their own so give it a shot and maybe you will like it more than I did :)

First of all.....THE COVER! Hello! Yes please! I immediately wanted to get WET with Paul! Now, now, get your mind out of the gutter. Paul is a landscape architect. He also helps his dad out with his company, repairing irrigation systems. Oh....and he’s also a recovering sex addict. He’s been abstaining for over two years now. He meets his match in the beautiful divorcee Elle, when his dad sends him to fix her sprinkler.

I absolutely LOVED Paul. He is hilarious, kind, generous and genuine. And HOT. The total package. Paul has promised himself he cannot have a sexual relationship until he meets “the one”. Elle isn’t looking for a relationship and just wants his “anaconda”. She wants sex, and lots of it with no strings attached. What will happen with these two? The attraction is instant, but they both want totally different things out of a relationship.

I loved this story and everything about it! I found myself constantly laughing out loud. Both characters were so witty and said the most unexpected things. The sexual tension throughout this story was off the charts and had me turning the pages. Phew! Talk about hot dialogue. It was very heart warming watching Paul and Elle’s relationship grow. What an original and beautiful love story this was! A very refreshing contemporary romance! Thanks Ruth!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I went into this book not knowing what to expect. I read the blurb, but honestly wasn't quite sure if I'd be able to get into it or not. I was so wrong! This story pulled me in and refused to let go until the end. It has depth that is missing from so many romances today; the characters are complex with flaws and issues that make them painfully real and the events in the book are life-changing for each of them. They're integrity is tested time and again, and they don't always make the correct decisions, but that's what makes them so relate-able. They aren't perfect by any means, and just like us when faced with circumstances that will have far reaching consequences they don't always know exactly what to do. Even if they know the right thing, it might not be the thing they choose to do. And this hurts the other characters, decisions aren't made inside a bubble, they affect everyone.

I'm hesitant to give you any more information than what's in the blurb on Amazon. You really need to experience and feel the story as it unfolds. It will make you angry, break your heart, make you smile, and believe in the power of true love again. It's a story that will stick with you and make you think for days after reading it. It's a difficult and sometimes sad journey but in the end everything is as it should be.

I am very sorry, but I did not like it at all. Let's take a look at the characters - we have Paul - the recovering sex addict, Elle - the divorcee hooking up via Tinder. I do not find chemistry between them at all. Their relation is frustrating to the point of boring.

spoilers below

I was really interested to learn from the author how the sex addict can build relationship built on love instead of lust. But no such thing happens, no deep feelings and Elle is plainly stupid - she knows about Paul's struggle with addiction and yet she neither tries to understand it nor help in any way. She even tries to provoke him to brake his resolution to keep away from sex until it means more. Totally not the person an addict should deal with.

And let's talk about the other characters:
the brother - totally awkward grown-up leaving with his parents and unable to form any relation with a woman
the sister - firewoman with no mouth filter
Lourdes - nice girl on the surface and totally weird inside and the teacher? really? the "seduction scene" was simply overdone
parents - religious mother and and football loving father
All the characters above had a potential to lighten the story, add some humour or add anything to the story- but they don't.
To sum up - boring, unreal characters, not even hot, sorry.

This was a light, fun read. I loved the characters. Paul is a great guy looking to settle down. He is sweet, handsome, and has a delicious dirty side. His only problem....he's a sex addict. Well, a reformed sex addict. He's not looking for meaningless hookups anymore. He wants a wife and a ton of kids. Elle is a wonderful girl. She's smart, driven, and gorgeous. She is coming out of a really bad divorce and isn't looking for a relationship. When they meet, there is an instant connection. Their friendship develops naturally and over time, love starts to bloom.

This book is sweet, funny, and sexy. You'll fall in love with Paul just as much as you'll fall for Elle. This story was just what I wanted it to be. Fantastic!!!

‘I wasn’t even sure I’d still have it–two years of abstinence seems like a sure way to lose your game. But with Elle I’m as much of a beast as I used to be, only better because it’s all for her. Hell, I love this woman and I’d do anything to see that sexy, blissful gleam in her eyes.’ ಌPaulಌ

★¸¸.•*¨*•★ Minor spoilers alert★•*¨*•.¸¸★

Writing style: 1st Person POV

Cover and chapter designs: That cover is so eye-catching to me. At one of the author’s book signing appearances, she had a water bottle to spray the poster and make the cover wet, so cool! I love the different chapter and break designs and the chapter titles. Even the water sprinkler head seemed like a sexual innuendo, ha!

•*¨*•
Supporting Characters:

Trisha – Paul’s firefighter sister who liked to stir up trouble at their weekly family dinner.

Patrick – Paul’s accountant brother who seemed like he’d yet to learn what to do with a real woman. Poor clueless guy! But spoiler alert, that does not stay the case. Hello, tantric sex disciple! ;)

Paul’s dad – he owns a landscaping company and Paul’s help with it while he recovered from a surgery was how Paul met Elle. He also was the one to originally discover Paul was a sex addict and the one to encourage him to get help for his addiction.

Millie aka Ma – Paul’s loving 1st generation Irish mother was quite a character. She was unsuccessful in her repeated attempts to set up her sons Paul and Patrick with nice, marriage material women. I loved when she and Elle were discussing male physiques at dinner one night, “I prefer a big man, but as long as he isn’t fat. Because a fat man will only get fatter.” Ha, too true!

•*¨*•
Story rating: ★★★½ – ★★★★☆

This was a slow burn romance with the main characters really taking the time to get to know each other as friends due to Paul’s kind of misguided idea of what a woman who is marriage material should be like. He was truly afraid Elle would tip him back into his sex addict ways because she was so ready to be sexually adventurous after the end of her 11-year marriage. Slow burn romances can be tricky and don’t always appeal to me.

Fortunately, there was plenty of great banter filled with sexual innuendos to keep me invested. I wasn’t super happy with the plot twist, but Elle’s circumstances made sense for her character and history. Paul and his family responded so well and rallied around her and the progression of Paul’s relationship with her. And when this couple finally consummated their friendship with sex, it was sexy goodness.

•*¨*•
Coming up next:
I’ll either read Burn or The Inspiration (Work of Art, #1). A couple of book buddies recently assured me Trisha’s story, Burn is even better than Wet was, so that’s high praise indeed. And Paul’s brother Patrick is slated to tell his story as well eventually. I really wish Ruth Clampett’s novels were available via audiobook format already, but alas, none are yet. I’m all about audiobook reading these days, so unfortunately, e-books have a lower priority on my Want to Read soon list.

With an extremely hot cover and a provocative title, I was excited and ready to delve into what appeared would be a steamy hot read. But I quickly discovered that "Wet" was not at all what I was expecting. Firstly, it was written entirely from the male characters POV and secondly, the story took me completely by surprise. Elle and Paul's journey did not play out in the way that I had imagined. I'm not saying that either of these things were bad, it's just that it's not often that I am this surprised when starting a new book.

Paul was once a sex addict, a man-whore that slept with every attractive female that he encountered. However I soon realised that this was no longer the case. He was now a reformed guy, determined to keep the promise he had made to himself that the next woman he would sleep with would be his forever girl. Paul was ready to fall in love and settle down which was all very sweet and romantic. He just had to meet his Miss Right and be prepared to sweep her off her feet. Paul was so different to the usual kind of book boyfriend that I come across so often. Having the story told from his perspective gave me the chance to get to know him so well. No stone was left unturned when it came to this man and I liked that a lot.
The longer I look at this sexy woman, the weaker I get. My resistance is crumbling like a soft-baked cookie.

Paul was a landscape gardener and he met Elle when he was sent to fix her sprinkler system. As soon as the couple met, the sexy banter between the pair started and I thought I was going to get treated to a modern twist on the classic novel "Lady Chatterley's Lover." However I was very wrong! Lol. Elle was recently divorced and ready to make up for the years she had lost whilst being trapped in a sexless marriage. All she wanted was a string of hook-ups, the opposite of what Paul wanted. Elle was another character that took me by surprise. I couldn't believe how forward she was when it came to communicating her sexual hunger to Paul. There was no shyness or embarrassment from this woman. I was truly shocked by how brazen she was. Elle was a minx!
"If you ever decide to be a man-whore again will you have sex with me?"
"You'll be the first on my list."

I have to say that it made a refreshing change to find out that it was a woman who was the one afraid of being in a relationship and the man was the one having to do all of the work, trying to convince the other person to give them a try. The story continued with a few twists and turns that I did not see coming and although I felt that the idea of the story was a good one, I couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if Paul had given into his true desires earlier on in the story rather than keep me hanging for so long. To be honest, I think I would have preferred Paul's old self. Although he was sweet and loving, I just wanted him to have a bit more passion. At times it felt as though he was becoming a door mat for Elle, but thankfully it all came together in the end with a cute little ending that would melt the hardest of hearts.
"What if I can never be everything that you want?"
"What if you already are?"

If you are looking for something a that is fun and a little bit different, this just might be a story that you will enjoy. "Wet" gets ❤️❤️❤️❤️ from me.

This book started out promising because you had a guy who was a recovering sex addict and wasn’t going to have sex until he found love again. Paul is that guy-he is in a program called Abstinence Until Love and they teach him until he finds love, then no sex. He also attends sex addiction meetings. The problem is he has met a woman named Ellie at work who wants nothing to do with love and everything to do with sex-she wants to hook up and just have sex. Her reasoning behind that is she has gone thru a divorce and the reason she divorced was her ex wasn’t giving her any intimacy or attention at her. She was literally starved for attention and needed that & Elle wants and enjoys sex so she turns to Tinder to find men who want to have sex with her.
Ellie likes Paul, but she wants sex and needs the intimacy . Paul wants love before sex. There at an impasse. Elle is Paul's biggest challenge. He has been maintaining his his abstinence for two years. Their relationship is different –When they first lay eyes on each other, it is so cute, Ellie does everything she can to get him to sleep with her and Paul does everything he can to stop himself. Now they are great friends .There is this huge sexual tension between them and Paul wont get together with her unless he knows there is love between them and that he is more than a random hook up. It is good to see how their lives evolve and how they change from the beginning of the book to the end .
Despite their differences, the two are good friends and they have this crazy chemistry with each other. Paul wants the love during sex and Ellie wants just the sex. This had the earmarks of being over the top great and going to a 4 plus rating book but the book just kept dragging –it soo long and I understand about the friends part but , come on. I just felt it at times could have moved faster otherwise it was a great book. I did like them as a couple but I wish there was an epilogue so that we , as the readers could have seen how the MC is doing after the story ended.

My rating: 3.9 STARS ***

The title of this book totally confused me. I couldn’t see how it all fit. This changed however when I got to the very last chapters. I thought it was a bust, but the author sure did an amazing job pulling things together!

So a little more about the story…”Wet” is about two people who are seriously attracted to each other but refuse to act upon it since they both have different expectations in a relationship. Paul who is a recovering sex addict is looking for his forever girl while Elle on the another hand is a divorcee who only wants to play the field. Talk about role reversal, right? That’s one of the reasons why this book held my interest. I wanted to see how far Elle would be willing to take it.

The other reason would be the character development. Every single character was great in their own way, but it was Paul who stole the show in this one. This guy in all sense was definitely a good catch! I liked how he repeatedly went above and beyond the call of duty for Elle and appreciated how committed he was to his convictions especially since Elle did her damnest in getting him to yield.

This did enhance the sexual tension between the couple, but the downside was it caused the pacing to be unusually slow.”Wet” didn’t focus on the romance as much as I would have hoped but it did highlight the importance of building a strong foundation (that of friendship) before taking the relationship to the next level.

Needless to say, I enjoyed this romance even if everything wonderful occurs towards the latter part of the book. The question is, would I recommend “Wet”? Yes. As long as you are okay with a rather slow yet great build-up and have the patience to wait until that monumental turning point towards the very end. I sure did and I don’t regret it.

Elle is recovering from a nasty divorce. Having spent the last decade in a nearly sexless marriage she has decided to sow her wild oats, primarily through hookups on Tinder. But when Paul shows up at her door to fix her sprinkler problem, she’s immediately attracted to the younger man. However Paul has spent the past two years abstinent, fighting his battle with sex addiction. He’s vowed to wait for sex until he finds “the one”, but when he meets Elle and they become best friends, he realizes she just may be it. But Elle has other plans; she sees Paul as a potential friend with benefits.

Paul finally works up the courage to tell Elle how he really feels, but when the unthinkable happens, both of their plans are thrown for a loop. Is it possible for the two of them to end up on the same page when they’re looking for very different things? Is there even a possibility of a future when suddenly there are others standing in their way?

I really enjoyed Paul and Elle’s story, however I would be lying if I didn’t admit that I was expecting a little more heat. Between the cover, title, and synopsis, I was expecting some sizzling action between the two, however it felt like more of a slow burn that came to a warmish climax. The story was very well written and I liked the characters, I just think I would have preferred a little more heat. I appreciated the first person POV in Paul’s voice; it was refreshing to get inside the head of a male character that actually had some depth. The story itself was an interesting mixture of some twists and predictability, but I was engaged from the very beginning. This is my first book by Clampett and I assure you, not my last!

3.5 stars. Paul McNeill is working on Elle Jacoby's yard as a fill in irrigation specialist for his father when he finds out that the Elle he used to fantasize about is now newly single after a divorce. Paul is a former sex addict and part of his newly reformed persona is to hold out to meet a woman whom he can fall in love with and envision a future with rather than casual, empty hook-ups. Unfortunately, Elle isn't looking for a serious relationship, she just wants to have fun so she and Paul are a no-go as far as any physical intimacy goes. Instead, they form a very natural and close friendship.

I really liked Paul. He obviously struggled a lot to hold onto his hard earned self-appreciation to avoid falling back into a trap of endless self-loathing. Elle tempts him at every turn. She's fun loving, sweet and the woman of his dreams. Paul himself is the whole boyfriend package except he's not anyone's boyfriend. He's caring, attentive and sexy.

There's a lot of flirty banter and sexual innuendos in this story, which got a little bit tiring because Elle was always so forward and direct in her requests and Paul had to shun her advances and it became somewhat repetitive to draw out the angst and sexual tension. The overall vibe felt like a romantic comedy, but there's some serious issues that pop up in the story to advance the character growth for both of them, particularly Elle. While neither of them are what they really want to be to the other, they settle for the second best option and have to decide if they can stay in that position or press for more regardless of the timing. I did love Paul's family and the family dinner scenes.

You definitely can't judge this book by its cover or even the title. It was not like it appeared to be. Oh no, it was much, much better. Paul is a recovering sex addict and has joined a support group called AUL (Abstinence Until Love). Paul has been celibate for two years and has grown so much from who he used to be, realizing his past behavior made him feel so empty. Then he meets Elle and he's never been so tempted before in his life. Also, she sure doesn't make it easy for him to keep to his vows, since she came from a nearly sexless marriage and after her divorce, she finally wants to enjoy sex, but just sex. What's so fun is seeing the friendship develop between these two protagonists and Paul is such an amazing guy in the way he takes care of Elle, despite his temptations. I love their witty banter and how they are together. While Paul is trying to figure out the difference between love and lust, Elle is struggling with her self-esteem due to the past men in her life and has decided all her previous dreams should be discarded because she failed in the past, in her eyes. It was great to see her grow as well. This was a book I didn't want to end, and I'm a little sad it didn't have an epilogue, but I realize it ended at the right time. I just wanted more because I loved these characters so much. And yes, it's an HEA with no cliffhangers. I highly recommend this book.

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.

This is the first book by Ruth Clampett I've read. Wet is definitely one to quench your thirst with. The two main characters somewhat enjoy a game of cat and mouse. Though who's the cat vs mouse is up for grabs at any given time during the story.

I think the author did a great job building these characters and their fears, expectations, and their friendship. Though this book is listed as a romantic comedy, and there were several funny parts, I really felt it was more of a contemporary romance. It had the feel of a view inside two people becoming more to each other. Their situations were very real and those that have gone through bad relationships can relate to Elle's feelings I'm sure.

It's Paul who captivated me through this whole story. It's his POV you'll be reading and he just makes my heart melt with the way he thinks about Elle and their friendship. He's definitely a strong man with strong values once he set himself straight. I admire his characters strength for not giving into a weakness he thought he had.

There's the normal trouble in paradise. How these two characters handle them are not without grace. Paul's behavior is one every female wishes her significant other would mimic. Very in tune and hands on to an extent.

I enjoyed this story. I have a feeling you will too.

My 5 Star "Filthy Mouth & Beast Boy" Review

Don't let the pet names or the smoking hot & gorgeous Jada D'Lee cover fool you!

Wet is a hysterical read filled with fantastic banter and amazing chemistry.

Yes, there is definitely smexiness, but I found the story a classic "tell me a story" kind of story.

wetteaser

Engaging from start to finish. And Paul's family...oh my goodness, you will love them!!

Paul is a recovering sex addict who had vowed to not have sex until he finds the woman he is in love with. He meets Elle during work and there is an instant attract. Elle is recently single and is looking to let loose and have fun. She has no interest in a relationship and Paul has no interest in casual sex. Despite this and their attraction the two find themselves becoming good friends. Will Elle be able to convince Paul to relax his no sex rule or will Paul convince Elle to take another chance on a meaningful relationship?

I quite enjoyed this book. Not many romance novels are written from a male POV and it's always a nice change for me to read one. It was also really funny! Paul, his family and Elle kept me chuckling throughout the story. It was a fun change to see the woman the one pressuring the man for fun casual sex and the man wanting a relationship. A solid 4.5 star read!

I Received an ARC copy of Wet from the Author Ruth Clampett for an honest Review.

I don’t think I can say enough about this book, I could not put it down. It was funny and refreshing. Paul is a recovering sex addict, his father Paul Sr. intervened and stopped his down ward spiral and got him to join a program for him to wait for love. He has been doing well until he meets Elle Jocoby, who after her divorce is looking for nothing but meaningless sex. They do become fast friends but are on different pages. I don’t want to give anymore away, but I strongly suggest you do yourself a favor and get a copy of Wet and find out what Happens between Paul Jr and Elle. You will laugh, cry and fall in love with not only the characters but the story. Ruth Thank you once again for another amazing and entertaining story, thank you for sharing your talents with us all.

I have really come to love a well written make POV but they are not easy to find. Well look no further, Ruth Clampett has done a remarkable job of capturing the male voice in her latest outing.

What do you get when a hot recovering sex addict meets a frustrated divorcee who is out to hook up? You get Paul and Elle!

I really loved the tables being turned on a traditional storyline. No heroine here waiting for a man who wants the white picket fence and 2.5 kids. Nope, Elle wants hot sex as often as possible. When she sets her sights on Paul, a recovering sex addict determined that the next woman he sleeps with will be his one and only you know their path will be a bumpy one.

I love all the growth of these characters and the wonderfully silliness of his family.

Another stellar book from a great author
