He's got the world watching. She's got a story to write. And off the ice, all bets are off.

Beck Larsson should be on top of the world. Being selected for Team USA's Olympic roster is everything he's worked for. But just a few months after losing his mother, he's still drowning-not just in grief, but in everything she left behind. his teenage brother, who he has no idea how to raise, and a life that now looks nothing like the one he planned.

He's a professional hockey player. He is not cut out to be anyone's guardian.

Sloane Eastwood is done playing it safe. When her editor hands her the promotion opportunity she's worked years for-an exclusive on Beck Larsson, hometown hero, Olympic hopeful, and her brother's best friend-she knows she should say no. Five years of careful distance and charged glances have taught her that staying away from Beck is the best option for everyone.

But some assignments are impossible to walk away from. And some people are impossible to forget. Because it turns out the only person either of them needed was the one they'd been avoiding all along.

Connecticut Wolverines Book 2

Thank you to the author for the gifted arc!

Blurb:
An Olympic hockey star fighting to hold his family together and the journalist he's never stopped wanting collide on the biggest assignment of her career—but when grief, ambition, and undeniable chemistry take over, they must decide if love is worth the fallout.

Tropes:
🏒golden retriever x golden retriever
🏒 friends-to-lovers & brother’s best friend
🏒 grief & found family representation
🏒 second chance romance, 5 years later

My thoughts:
The tension and chemistry between Beck and Sloane is sooo good. I just love them together! Their story takes place in Italy where he’s competing on the Olympic team and she’s a reporter covering the story. Obsessed with the setting! It’s always the little things that make me feel giddy, like him surprising her by speaking Italian and her wearing his jersey. I was kicking my feet! I love how much they cared about and supported each other. Even the way Sloane was able to connect to Beck’s brother and help him was just so sweet, it had me tearing up. It was such a small part of the story but felt SO significant.
And one of my favorite things about interconnected romance series is the little glimpses of previous couples. Loved getting to see more of Monroe and Rhodes!
I cannot get enough of these characters and this series. I’m so excited for book 3!

So obsessed with this series! I loved seeing Sloane and Beck’s growth, and loved the continuation of Rhodes and Monroe’s story.

After this year’s Olympics, I was SO excited to read this book. I absolutely loved the forbidden romance and forced proximity.

I'm going to be honest and say that I've been hockey romanced out for awhile so I did drag my feet on starting this one and GUYS was that a MISTAKE. This book was just everything I needed it to be and more. And while I remember Beck and Sloane in the first book, this one just solidified them into book boyfriend and girlfriend material. *chefs kiss* to you Taylor Mitchell because this was a great one.

The plot was fun. The Olympics is always a draw for people and just to read a little romance along with competing was fun. It was enough Olympics talk that it didn't bring down the romance but created a fun atmosphere for our two love birds to connect.

The characters depth was on point this book. Beck. To see Beck have to grieve and grow with his brother was heartbreaking and inspiring. He was believable in his struggles while also just wanting to live his life and succeed at the Olympics. He is surrounded by the most supportive friends, which honestly brought tears to my eyes how much they support one another. The man is also a walking green flag. The way he treats Sloane is just epically swoon worthy. The man deserves everything. And Sloane. My girl. I loved her from the first minute you see her in this book. She's sassy and smart but also vulnerable. I love how fun she is but also how much she cares for everyone around her. It's hard to for woman in fields of work where they are always needing to prove themselves so she felt so relatable to me as a woman in engineering. Sloane and Beck were just perfect together and the amount of times those two had me smiling was silly.

The guys were great. Monroe was great. Elliott won my heart over very quickly. The supporting cast was just so good and I am the most intriguing by our Adopt a Goalie story arc.

My only little gripe was our third act conflict. I knew it was coming but sometimes they come off a little anticlimactic. Which this one did a little. It's a me thing that just doesn't always work for me. I think it does work for the characters but just doesn't come off completely believable to me. It's really just minor and you should ignore me because the rest of the book is a fun time.

Anyways, I'm just so glad I got the opportunity to read this next book in this series. And while I did enjoy Rhodes and Monroe's book a lot, this was just another step up of just a good story. Keep on keeping on Taylor. I love this world you have created and the strong green flag characters I get to read about.

🏒 BOOK REVIEW | NO COMMENT, MAJOR PENALTY by Taylor Mitchell 🏒

YES, YES, YES, BECK AND SLOANE!! ❤️‍🔥

Give me a forbidden romance, a brother’s best friend, a second chance, forced proximity, and a little hockey, and I AM IN!

🏒 The story: Beck Larsson should be living his dream after earning a spot on Team USA’s Olympic roster, but life has other plans. After losing his mother, he’s suddenly trying to navigate grief while figuring out how to care for his teenage brother, Elliot. Enter Sloane Eastwood, a journalist hoping for a career-making promotion that involves writing an exclusive on Beck… her brother’s best friend and the man she’s spent five years trying to stay away from. Old feelings, undeniable chemistry, and plenty of reasons they shouldn’t cross that line? Let the games begin!

💕 I loved the forbidden romance in this one! The forced proximity and travel element made it SO much fun, and I was completely here for Beck and Sloane finding their way back to each other.

Sweet Beck 🥹 He’s dealing with SO much, and you can’t help but love him. Watching him work so hard to support Elliot while trying to figure out his own life made my heart ache for him.

And can we talk about Rhodes and Monroe?! I love seeing their story continue. They’re both so grown-up and supportive (yes, even Rhodes eventually 😂), but Monroe’s sisterly support of Sloane was just perfection.

I especially loved getting their backstory, all the flirting, THAT “F*ck it” moment, and the SPICE! 🔥🔥 Taylor understood the assignment!

If I had one criticism… The way Sloane worked things out with her boss to keep her job felt a bit forced. It happened so quickly that I wasn’t entirely sure I followed exactly what went down. It didn’t ruin the story for me, but it did leave me scratching my head a little.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.25 STARS!

Taylor, I am OBSESSED with these hockey boys, and I cannot WAIT for Weston’s love story! Please keep them coming because I am absolutely not ready to leave the Connecticut Wolverines! 🏒❤️

Somehow Taylor chose ME to be an advanced reader for this book. The absolute squeal that came out of my mouth was pure joy. I might never recover. 😂

I just finished No Comment, Major Penalty, and I need five more. Not one. Not two. FIVE. I’m obsessed with these characters, and Sloane and Beck might be my favorite characters yet. But let’s be honest: Taylor will probably introduce me to someone new in the next book and completely ruin my ability to make that decision.

The descriptions of Italy are absolutely breathtaking. I could practically picture myself there! And Sloane? Girl, I think we’ve ALL been in your shoes with a dreamy guy. But WHAT?!? He speaks the language AND can order your favorite coffee?!? Someone pick me up off the floor because I AM NOT OKAY. ☕😍

At this point, I’m not even reading a series. I’m maintaining ongoing relationships with fictional people.

Reading Taylor’s books is like sitting by a crackling fire with the perfect latte: pure bliss, except the latte eventually runs out and the book eventually ends. Both are tragedies I am not prepared to accept. 😂

Thank you, Taylor, for bringing these characters into the world. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be over here impatiently waiting for the next book. ❤️

A hockey romance with brother’s best friend, forbidden feelings, forced proximity, and a man who’s barely holding it together? Yeah, I was invested!

I really enjoyed Beck and Sloane’s dynamic! The chemistry was there, but it was the emotional side of their relationship that had me rooting for them.

Beck genuinely broke my heart at times. Between grieving his mother, suddenly becoming responsible for his teenage brother, and navigating his hockey career, this man had A LOT on his shoulders. I appreciated that his struggles weren’t magically resolved by falling in love. And Sloane had her own ambitions and dreams, which I loved seeing her navigate alongside her feelings for Beck.

I do wish we’d gotten a little more depth with certain emotional moments, especially considering everything Beck was dealing with. Some things felt a bit rushed when I really wanted to sit with them longer.

Overall, this was a sweet, angsty, and heartfelt hockey romance with some lovely family dynamics. I enjoyed the romance, but the themes of grief, vulnerability, and learning to lean on others were what really stood out to me.

I really enjoyed Beck and Sloane’s story. Every time I had to put a pause on reading, I wanted to come back immediately.

The characters in these books are genuinely relatable. They don’t fall flat, and they face very real problems, even if you’re not an NHL player. I love the way Taylor writes the relationships in her books, most specifically the platonic ones. The relationships between siblings is beautifully done, meaningful to the plot and overall sweet as can be. You can feel the love between Elliot and Beck in this book, even if Elliot was hiding away from the world for a while. The way the non-blood family operates, too, is adorable. It’s clear The Wolverine’s hold a lot of love for each other, and I love that they show up and support Beck in the Olympics. They also know when to call out foolish behavior between each other. It is a very wholesome vibe.

I’m a sucker for a brother’s best friend trope and a forced proximity situation. I liked this book better than book 1, and I liked book 1! I’m so excited for book 3!!

This was a great second book for Taylor Mitchell and the Connecticut Wolverines Series. We get to see Sloane and Beck's relationship develop as they give in to their feelings for one another without their usual people around helping them remember why they've been fighting those feelings. We also see how Rhodes influences both his sister and his best friend and he has come to terms with that, too.

I would say that this is more Beck's story than it is Sloane's with our MMC having a lot of emotional baggage to carry and unpack. Sloane helps him face it and does have some important stakes of her own with her job and professional integrity on the line. I felt that Sloane's resolution was a little glossed over but since there are some time jumps towards the end of the book, maybe we'll see more as they return to support characters in future installments of the series.

They do have good chemistry together and are completing head over heels for each other. They really compliment each other, too. We get the feel of being in an Olympic village and travel along with the drama of sports. Plus, who wouldn't want someone ordering their morning coffee for them in Italian?

The whole friend group is back from Book 1 and we get to expand with a whole new team for Beck to interact with on the Olympic team. Even though Beck is physically away from the rest for most of the book, we are still kept in the loop with their shenanigans. Can't wait to see how Weston's story turns out in the next book.

Taylor Mitchell just has a way with her writing that sucks you right in and has you rooting for her characters, and this one was no exception!

I loved Sloane and Beck in Monroe and Rhodes’ story, so I was SO excited when I found out they were getting their own book. And ugh, I loved them even more in this one!! The slow-ish burn was so good, and the tension and chemistry between these two had me hooked from the beginning.

Between the story itself, all the reveals, and the found family, there was just so much to love about this book. I swear Taylor makes it impossible not to get attached to her characters and their little world. I loved getting more of Sloane and Beck and watching their story unfold.

I absolutely loved this one and already cannot wait to see what she has in store for book three!!

What to Expect:
Brothers Best Friend
Olympic Hockey x Reporter 🏒🎤
Second Chance
Found Family
Friends to Lovers ❤️
Grief Representation
Banter & Sass 🔥
Dual POV

Obsessed might be an understatement! Wow did I fly through reading this book and never wanted to put it down. The sass and banter between them was perfection. The location only added to the vibes and romance!! This book is definitely plot driven but don’t let that fool you into thinking there isn’t spice, there certainly is and it is perfection. But spice aside I loved the simple romantic scenes. I live for getting to see the yearning between Beck and Sloane. I absolutely can’t wait to see what comes next!

So happy I got the chance to arc read in exchange for an honest review

I really enjoyed reading this! It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed a hockey romance. I loved Beck & Sloane, the connection is what had me hooked almost immediately. The writing kept me engaged and I found myself not wanting to put the book down.

One of my favourite things about this was the “family connection” between all the characters. The different tropes and themes mentioned within the story, are handled with care and time. I loved No Comment, Major Penalty, will definitely be a reread for sure!

Thank you Taylor for the opportunity to read this ARC. 🤍

Thank you to the author for the gifted ARC. All opinions are my own.

This book was fantastic. I haven’t lost a parent, but I have lost a very close friend, and I thought the grief representation was handled really well. It felt honest, and it gave the story real emotional weight.

The only thing that didn’t fully work for me was the “fix” at the end that allows the two of them to be together. It felt a little odd and rushed compared to the rest of the book. That said, it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed everything leading up to it.

A great read that I’d recommend to anyone who loves a hockey romance with heart.

ARC REVIEW

No. Notes.

Need a series to help you with your Off Campus hangover? START WITH BOOK ONE OF COURSE BUT THEN, GOOD NEWS, BOOK TWO COMES OUT IN THREE DAYS! 👏🏒🎤

Sloane and Beck?? Dare I say I love them MORE than Rhodes and Monroe (and that is truly saying something).

I am always all about a enemies to lovers — but a genuinely GOOD slow burn with a friends to lovers?? That just may steal my heart more.

Book Two in the Connecticut Wolverine’s is the perfect addition to this growing series. The characters are lovable with stories worth sharing and I am SO grateful to have received a copy from the author!

4.5 ⭐️. Thank you Taylor Mitchell for the ARC ❤️ For a sophomore book in an interconnected series I have to say this was as good as the first! I absolutely adored Beck and Sloane’s bar meet up and was rooting for them! I also liked that we got to again interact with the friend group/team mates and start to piece together everyone’s story. Truly a second chance romance with a huge time gap but it was worth it!

I’ve been waiting for Sloane and Beck’s story since their first interaction in Icing the Game Plan! Their chemistry and banter is to die for. I’m a sucker for the brother’s best friend trope and this is so well done. I loved seeing Rhodes & Monroe, plus the rest of the crew and Elliot. Seeing how Beck cares for and worries about him was so sweet.

I can’t wait to see what’s next for the Wolverines!

***ARC Review*** I really enjoyed the pacing of the story, I burned through it so fast! Sunshine x Sunshine troupe with a big focus on the Olympics. I loved the Easter eggs of past characters from book one, and trying to guess who is going to be the star in book three was a hoot. Enjoy hanging out with Sloane and Beck as they navigate through work, family, friends and life's obstacles.

It’s cute! It’s flirty! They’re both stupidly in love! Suspension of disbelief required, yes, but who wants to be held to reality’s standards right now anyways.

VERY interested in the goalie moving forward btw.

One kiss. Five years of thinking about it. An Olympic reunion in Italy.

I loved Sloane and Beck! She’s a reporter and his best friend’s sister. He’s a hockey player competing at the Olympics. Neither has forgotten the kiss they shared five years ago, and Italy gives them the chance to finally explore those feelings.

My favorite part was how thoughtful they were toward each other. Even while keeping their relationship quiet, Sloane gave Beck room to focus on hockey, and he respected her work, too. They each did their jobs while finding their way back to each other, and I loved watching it happen!

✨ Tropes & themes:
🏒 Hockey romance
🤫 Best friend’s sister
💋 A kiss neither forgot
📰 Athlete × reporter
🇮🇹 Olympic romance in Italy
❤️ Rekindled feelings

ARC Review ✨
First I would like to say a big thank you to Taylor for letting me be a part of this ARC Team!
Rate: 4/5⭐️
Spice: 1.5/5🌶️

What to expect when reading ;
-Sunshine x Sunshine
-Hockey Player x Journalist
-Second Chance
-Brothers Best Friend

This is book two of the Connecticut Wolverines Series! In the book you get to follow Sloane and Beck! Sloane is looking at getting a new promotion at work and is beyond ready to get it. Beck just made Team USA Olympic Hockey team and is headed to Italy! With Sloane covering this journey and forcing them to spend time together will the feeling they have had hidden find they way to the surface?

Okay these two were like two adorable lost puppies for each other and it was so cute! The first chapter was the perfect way to start their journey, not only because it gave us insight on them but because we got to grasp their personalities and I think really made the story that much more entertaining. While Beck is like a golden retriever sunshine, Sloane gives off spunky chaos sunshine almost. The support system in this book I can honestly say was top notch, and done so well, it really helped with their story. The little moments they had to were so entertaining, they just made me so happy. Taylor is killing it with this series!

Side notes:
-Slow Burn by Kacey Musgraves
-Slaone Barnacle
-Beck speaking Italian🥰
