This issue was just okay. There were definitely parts that I enjoyed, but there were also several aspects that needed to be fleshed out much more. Within this issue, we see Ben and Gwen working together to figure out the best way to get Grandpa Max back and stop Zombozo and his cronies.
Unfortunately, we don't really get any development for Zombozo's cronies or give any of them a real opportunity to shine. We also barely get to see the conflict properly resolved because everything gets wrapped up incredibly quickly. Ben is learning that not all of his problems can be solved with the Omnitrix, but he still rushes into everything without really thinking things through. That's perfectly understandable considering his age, but there isn't enough time for any meaningful growth. It feels like the lesson is introduced and then Ben suddenly understands it without much development.
The same problem happens with Grandpa Max. Ben manages to get Max's mind back with just a few sentences, and then suddenly everything is over and Zombozo is arrested, which we don't even get to see. How did that happen? Everyone was still free and seemingly at full strength, and then they're just arrested? The entire resolution felt incredibly rushed and convenient.
It's a shame because the previous issue was so much stronger and did a good job laying the foundation for this arc. This really needed one more issue to properly develop the characters, explore the conflict, and give everything a more satisfying conclusion.
I'm on the fence about recommending this issue. It had some decent moments, but they were overshadowed by some really glaring weaknesses.

I think the problem here is that we need one single writer and a strong editor who can reel back the storytelling.

The art style is ok; for anything that isn’t Ben's aliens, the story concept was interesting, but then it devolves into the same OG Ben 10, and sequences of events just happen without prior introduction; the action scenes outright suck.

Worse of all, we don’t see how Ben won this time. Just a quick comment later on.

I can’t say it was a letdown. I was wary of the project since it was announced. This is sad; I love the series, just not how it’s been handled in the last few years.

Wow, incredible. The bar was already low, and they somehow managed to surprise me with something even worse.

The way they deal with Zombozo is hilarious, in a bad way.

I definitely made the right decision not ordering the next issues through my LCBS.

really not amazing. the art is still kind of whatever. story wise, this wasn’t very interesting. zombozo builds a dish to “mind control” everyone i guess i don’t even know. they blow it up and yay day is saved. i feel slightly lukewarm on this series so far

3.7 I like how it makes me think back to when I was a kid, but like I need more from this plot.
