Nate Cole - action, adventure and pure escapism.
This is only my second foray into ‘pulp’ and it was such fun to read. The lead character is bold, doesn’t take any nonsense and within a few pages I could immediately place exactly who he was. This is the 3rd in the series, so far, and I don’t think it is an issue that I have come into it so far into his story. We do get a bit of background to the past but the story holds itself up as a strong standalone adventure. It took me a while to realise the modern setting, there was something about it that felt quite vintage throughout the story.
As the story progresses, Nate is thrown into many high stakes action situations. There are written so well that I felt every punch.
Fun, action packed and a little brutal.

From the get go this book is a testosterone fueled adrenaline rush harking back to pulp heroes of old and the high action of new.
The prologue? Chef's kiss. This book is the successor to the Craig era bond and Uncharted games with its palpable fast paced action.
The only thing I wanted to do for the three days it took me to read the book was come back to read the book. It had me LOCKED in. It's such a good blend of Spy Thriller and adventure with a healthy dose of noir.
Nate Colt is more fleshed out than ever and Nathanael Hummel is cementing him to be deserving of a spot on the modern pulp heroes Mount Rushmore.
If you're intrigued by danger, action, and adventure then consider this your next assignment.

Picking up right after the events of Crime is my Caper, the author throws you right into the thick of it. This book has it all, gunplay, swordplay, large set pieces, quick witted dialogue… Normally a series will go downhill with every installment, but this might be the best Nate Colt adventure yet.
