An emotionally powerful yarn built upon an under developed story line. I *liked* this book but felt robbed by the ending. The author could have spent another 200 pages to turn this into a *great* sea story.

I mean, what I understood of the story was solid, and the action was entertaining. However, the political and Navy jargon were overbearing at times, and I think this is definitely written for someone with experience in those fields.

Cynthia Mobley may be a rather obscure author but with this novel she leaves no doubt that she can craft an exciting naval adventure. In my opinion this was every bit as entertaining as works by Larry Bond, Patrick Robinson and others who specialize in submarine tales. The novel is fast paced with some unexpected twists thrown into the mix. The main character and her counterpart on the German sub are well crafted and are personalities that have a code of honor that transcends political agendas. I'll definitely read the rest of the trilogy if I get the chance.
