Flight attendant, Gracelyn Cooper, wants to see the world. What she doesn’t want was to travel alone. While her days keep her busy crossing the country, her heart misses home and the people she loves. But her deepest desire is to travel with someone special. Always on the road, or rather in the air, doesn't lend itself to meeting that special guy.
Brent Marshall is enamored with computers. As a young boy, he’d tear discarded ones apart to rebuild them into something new. Now as a software engineer, he travels a lot which took him away from Fox Grove, his hometown—the place where the girl who holds his heart still visits regularly.
A flight home to Fox Grove. A long layover. A flight attendant that he thought has to be her working on his flight.
Would he have the courage and take a chance to talk to her—would she even remember him from high school?
The One Who Felt Like Home is a sweet Christian romance with humor, adventure, friendship and obstacles aplenty keeping this couple apart. It’s a story showing us how God’s always in the details, we only need to move out of His way.
Tammy Karasek’s debut novel examines the promise that God is always in the details. Brent Marshall laments not having the courage to get to know Gracelyn Cooper better at highschool, but when the timing is right, these two realize that they were meant to be together all along. I love that they reconnect doing something they love - flying and adventure!
Karasek’s exploration of how to harmonize career ambition and dedication with a fulfilling faith-centered relationship is inspirational.
I enjoyed my time in Fox Grove and can’t wait to get back again.
I was gifted this copy and was under no obligation to provide a review.
The One Who Felt Like Home by Tammy Karasek is book 2 in the Fox Grove series. The writing was witty and sweet, with lots of family moments (which I love). And the lessons the characters learn are so vital. The best things in life sometimes take hard work but they are oh, so worth it as you trust God for guidance. I highly recommend this book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. The opinions expressed are completely my own.
Reconnecting with someone you’ve known since high school is already a wild ride, but finding out they’ve liked you for as long as they can remember? Talk about a plot twist! I loved this story and am officially ready for the next installment. Bring on the next wild ride—I’m buckled in!
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author through Book Funnel. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This is a Rom-Com with heart, humor and hope. Brent is the quintessential shy guy who sits in the background and watches others have fun in life. He has secretly carried a torch for Gracelyn since high school, so when they meet by coincidence on a flight back to their home town, the match made in heaven begins to take shape. This is an engaging story with everything i enjoy in romance, including characters that I want to see together forever and a family support system that cheers them on. I enjoyed the plot and the drama of the two of them having to figure out a schedule and place to meet in order to spend time with each other. That was so realistic and entertaining! I thought that the plot was fast-paced as time passed without my even knowing it since the story was so compelling. I loved everything about the story, the cleverly written plot, the well-rounded characters and the delightful small-town setting. I am sold on this series and highly recommend all of the Fox Grove books, especially this one that was so enchanting that I wanted to visit Gracelyn and Brent and their wonderful families. I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own.
This story gave me all the sweet and cozy vibes. It’s light and adorable with banter and a golden retriever MMC in Brent. Then there’s Grams. She’s a hoot! The premise of Gracelynn being Brent’s high school crush and then reconnecting a decade later just made me smile. A quick read and a fun novella!
I received a copy of this book from the author and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are mine.
I received this book as an ARC with no expectations of a positive review. This book is so much fun to read. Gracelyn, a flight attendant, is on a normal flight who is on her final flight of the week. She is heading home for the weekend for a birthday celebration for her Grams. As she is attempting to help a passenger get her bag out of the overhead bin, she encounters a problem with another bag. She is not tall enough to get it out. A gentleman comes to their assistance. The gentleman looks familiar, but she cannot place him. Join Gracelyn as she finds the one who her heart has wanted all along.
This was a sweet and easy read that wrapped you up in warm hugs. I loved the two primary characters, Gracelyn and Brent. The interactions between them is open and honest. I appreciated Gracelyn’s sense of humor and her outgoing personality helped balance Brent’s more why and reserved nature. Their families provided a wonderful support network for each of them. The Christian focus was heartwarming and a delight. This is a refreshing story of hope, love, faith, family, community, uncertainty, caring, and commitment. There are a few teary moments but you will also find yourself chuckling ... especially with Gracelyn’s niece and the way she pronounces things.
Thank you to the author for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
A cute romance. Too short but a good quick read. Gracelynn is working as a flight attendant on a flight and a handsome young man asks about her. She doesn't recognize him. Then they are on the next flight together and they reconnect. It turns out they went to school together. Brent has had a major crush on her for years. Can they move past that and work out a relationship with their crazy work schedules? I enjoyed the story.
I received this book from the author but was under NO obligation to give a favorable review. The above opinion is mine. Check this series out!
"Nothing is easy in this life. Nothing." True words from Gram to Gracie when discussing her relationship with Brent. Sweet story with inspiration, romance, good banter and life lessons. Definitely worth the read.
This was such a fun quick read to get lost in! An airplane ride from Los Angles to Chicago, time to grab some quick sleep on the red eye! Brent Marshall isn't gifted any shut eye, but he is interested in one of the flight attendants, and it turns out he knows her. This was such a fun and unique way to reunite a couple, turns out they were both from Fox Grove, and went to school together. Of course, life does get in the way and the path to a relationship here is definitely not easy. Both Brent and Gracelyn are jet setters for their livelihood, and boy do they have a hard time meeting up. Can these two whom seem to pass in the night forge a lasting relationship? I was beginning to wonder, and boy do things get in the way, talk about planes passing in the night, or basically waving at them as they take off! This was a page turner for me, and I enjoyed it up to the last page! I received this book through the Fox Grove Launch Team, and was not required to give a positive review.
What an adorable story! Although there may be obstacles in relationships, true love may win. The characters are easy to like and the story is sweet. This is a quick read that made me smile. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
Sparks fly when former classmates Brent and Gracelyn meet in the air. Unfortunately, both characters are busy with career aspirations and it's extremely difficult for them to explore their friendship.
I enjoyed that Brent tried to have a positive attitude and look for creative ways to spend time together.
My favorite character was Grams. She was funny and had so much wisdom and candpr to offer.
I was provided a copy of the book. The opinions are my own.
The One Who Felt Like Home is a cozy, feel-good romance. I love how Gracelyn does not remember Brent when she first "meets" him, and the little old lady on the plane is a hoot. The beginning of the book draws you in and keeps you reading.
The One Who Felt Like Home by Tammy Karasek is another great book in the Fox Grove series of novellas. This series is comprised of three novellas, written by three different authors, focusing on one of three friends, their ten-year high school reunion, and the men they meet up with.
We had briefly met the FMC, Gracelyn Cooper, in the first book, mainly through text messages with Tilly, the FMC of The One I Never Forgot. Gracelyn is a flight attendant, a job she loves; however, she doesn't get a lot of chances to get home to Fox Grove and see her family. However, she has every intention of making it back for the reunion, which the reader does already know if they read the first book.
On the flight that she is on as the story begins she comes face to face with someone from her hometown, someone she didn't even recognize. However, this person, our MMC Brent Marshall, has had a crush on Gracelyn since they were in school. He's just always been too shy and nervous to approach her, and feels like he is invisible. Now, however, he has decided to get up the nerve to approach her and talk to her. Thus begins a tentative relationship that may or may not work out because they are both always on the move.
This book was more about the relationship between Gracelyn and Brent, plus time with their families, and obstacles they needed to overcome, than it was the reunion. The first book focused on the reunion a lot more because Tilly and Walker were in charge of the reunion. However, we do get to see plenty of great characters in Fox Grove, I especially loved meeting Grams and the young nieces. There were definitely some emotional moments, times of laughter and tears and concern, but faith in God was important to the characters as was praying.
I really enjoyed this book, which is the first fiction book that the author has written. I hope she plans to continue writing.
I received an e-copy of this book from the publisher and was not required to write a favorable review. These are my own honest thoughts.
‘in a weird kind of way, he seems vaguely familiar.’
A chance encounter, or fate? Brent has been in awe (and love) with Gracelynn since they were kids but she barely saw him, the ‘invisible’ boy. Fast forward ten years and she’s a flight attendant always on the go and he’s a computer expert jetting back and forth across the country until they find themselves on the same flight toward home. Her hair is longer but the smile is the same while he’s drop dead gorgeous and determined to shoot his shot while he can, only to forget to get her number...their journey is full of missed chances but it’s only the last one that matters in this heartfelt short that brought tears to my eyes a time or two. Well done!
What I loved about this story was that I caught myself smiling - that doesn't happen often, even if I'm thoroughly enjoying a story. It was full of humor but also realistically addressed lies we believe because someone has repeated them to us, usually someone who is close to us. Beautifully told and a joy to read. I was given a complimentary copy of this book and did not have to give a positive review.
Brent Marshall was always shy and felt invisible to everyone and loves everything computers. He's always had a big crush on Gracelyn Cooper, but was too shy to do anything about it back in school, so he admired her from afar. All these years traveling he's watched and hoped that Gracelyn would be working his flight since he knew she was a flight attendant and they'd bump into one another. Finally, all his patience has paid off and she's on his flight. But he didn't get to talk to her like he was hoping until they both end up at the coffee shop after the flight. They finally get to talk and reacquaint with one another over some caffeine that turns into a small layover for their next round of their trip as well as they sit by each other on the next flight. As Brent has finally become brave enough to talk to Gracelyn will they both be brave enough to try a long distance relationship? I really enjoyed this book and smiled to myself quite often as I was reading with the banter they have amongst themselves and their families. I definitely recommend this read!
The One Who Felt Like Home by Tammy Karasek is a story of hope. Gracelyn Cooper is a flight attendant who travels all over but never takes time to go on any adventures in the places she stops because she doesn’t want to do it alone. Brent Marshall is a business man who is always jetting off for work. He finally sees Gracelyn on a night flight and is determined to speak to her and see where things end up! As things progress, will love conquer all, even long distances and many travels? I received this book from the publisher and was not required to leave a review. The honest opinion is my own.
Such a fun debut by Tammy Karasek! I really enjoyed the humor woven throughout the story—there were several moments that made me laugh and added such a lighthearted touch. I’m looking forward to seeing where the author goes from here.
I received an advanced copy of this story, and was not required to leave a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The One Who Felt Like Home is a wonderful sweet story.
Flight attendant, Gracelyn Cooper, wants to see the world. But not travel alone. She's kept busy crossing the country, but she misses home and the people she loves. But always being in the air, doesn’t make it easy to meet that special guy.
Brent Marshall is loves with computers. And has loved Gracelyn since high school. Now a software engineer, he travels a lot which takes him away the place where the girl who holds his heart visits as regularly as she can between flights. And maybe this is his chance to let her know how he feels.
What a sweet romance! I love novellas, and Tammy Karasek’s The One Who Felt Like Home, fills the bill. Gracelyn and Brent are really good characters that are easy to get to know and understand. I especially liked how Karasek showed their busy lives and how that impacted their relationship. Faith was a big part of the story too. I’m looking forward to reading more by this author!
I am loving this series of novellas, they are short but still pack a whole storyline in them. This story is about Gracelyn who is a flight attendant and Brent whom she went to school with growing up. Brent happens to run into Gracelyn on one of his business trips and is still very shy around her. But when they have another chance encounter at a coffee shop, things start turning around. Can Brent overcome his shyness and will Gracelyn be able to put her fears aside and work out some kind of relationship? I was laughing out loud throughout different parts, including the cackling hens. Other times I was wondering if my heart was going to break with a few scenes. I truly enjoyed this story and I am eagerly awaiting the next story. I received a complimentary digital copy of this story but was not required to leave a positive review. All opinions are what I thought of this novella.
This story is by an author that I never hesistate to pick up. I enjoy her writing style as well as her heart felt characters that just jump into your heart. This is a story about taking a chance on romance. This is Gracelyn and Brent's story. Their story made me laugh a couple of times but it also takes you on an adventure with them. I felt that they are connectable, well developed characters that made me come back for more. I enjoyed watching their growth of their relationship from beginning to end. This is a fast paced, hard to put down story and one you don't want to miss. I highly recommend this must read romance.
I love second chance stories and this one did not disappoint. When two "opposites" who grew up in the same town meet again, sparks fly. But past experiences, career aspirations and even distance seem to get in the way of them connecting again. Can they take a chance on each other? This story is full of wonderful (sometimes quirky) characters, lots of Christmas traditions and full of love and laughter. This is a perfect Christmas read. I received an advance copy from the author but all opinions are my own.
The One Who Felt Like Home. was a sweet story that gave me a quiet and delightful afternoon in a single read. The characters were real -showing their insecurities and doubts despite their outward strength and accomplishments. The faith element was woven into the story, not in a preachy way but gave the reader a reminder that God moves in the details of our lives, and that delays in our lives are not always denials of a dream. I read an advanced copy but then purchased a copy so I could share it with friends and offer them the same enjoyment I had reading it.
I loved this book! The chemistry between Gracelyn and Brent was so sweet, and I loved that this was a second chance romance. I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen between these two! This was the author's first fiction novel, but it read like a seasoned author wrote it! Even though this isn't my normal genre, this novel kept my attention the whole way through. I highly recommend this one!
I received this book from the publisher and was not required to write a review. The honest opinion is my own.
Home again, home again. Two Fox Grove graduates meet on a plane ten years later. Gracelyn, a flight attendant, doesn't recognize Mr. 26A but he's another for her name. They barely touch base with each other, Brent now a good-looking software engineer and not the shy "invisible game boy" she remembered. But they both never home, spending their lives in the air or in an airport, so how will their grown-up selves ever get acquainted? In this sweet Christian novella, you'll even learn how to mix a mocha cola!
The One Who Felt Like Home by Tammy Karasek is a sweet romance about two people who are struggling with insecurities and looking for someone to call home. I love the continuation of the characters and setting in the series as I get to know more characters in depth as they tell their stories. It is a nice escape from the world and a reminder that good things are still possible, especially when we least expect it.
