Perfect for fans of Nora Roberts, Liane Moriarty, Jojo Moyes and Jane Green.
Claire Boston fell in love with romance and romantic suspense at eleven when she discovered her mother’s stash of Nora Roberts novels. Like Nora, she writes series set around families or groups of friends with a guaranteed happy ending.
She loves travelling and learning about new cultures and interesting vocations which she then weaves into her writing.
When Claire’s not at the computer typing her stories she can be found creating her own handmade journals, swinging on a sidecar, or in the garden attempting to grow something other than weeds.
Claire lives in Western Australia with her husband, who loves even her most annoying quirks and is currently learning how to knit.
Amazingly sweet love story. I mistakenly thought this was the first book. It's not. It's the third. I had no problem knowing who everyone from the previous books were and how they were all related. The mention of their previous stories makes me want to go back and read the first two.
Loved everyone except her nasty ex and his momma. Toby, Elle's son, was so cute. "George wants to ride you like a stallion rides a mare". George was awesome, and not afraid to cry. George and Elle made love, but I had to go back and check because there's no detail. None, but I didn't miss it because it was a great story. I look forward to more from this author.
I have to say, according to the description I expected someting different from the plot. what I got was a sweet love story, without a lot of heat but with a lot of feeling.
I liked the characters although I had some trouble with Elle. I understood her feelings and troubles but nearing the end, all the doubting got a bit frustrating
nevertheless, this was a very sweet love story and I enjoyed reading it

I laughed so hard at a conversation between 2 of the characters, George and 5 yr. old Toby. George kissed Toby's mom and then Toby asked why he kissed her. They eventually likened George's reason to a stallion and mare... Toby's really into horses and cowboys. LOL!!! I won't go any further so as not to spoil anything. Let's just say I found it hilarious.
Pulling herself up by the bootstraps, Elle opens up a bookstore café in a new town, a new home away from her abusive ex. Her son is safe, she’s safe and she’s going to make this new business a success if it’s the last thing she does. She’s a business owner now and a mom. She has all she wants in life—she’s too busy to have anything more.
Enter George Jones. Look up the saying “damsel in distress” and you’ll find a picture of George rescuing someone. It’s ingrained in his personality—he just can’t help himself when he sees a woman who needs assistance, be it his family, friends or a stranger. And George notices on day one, Elle needs rescuing from the lack of help at her café to the lack of love in her life.
But Elle is so guarded. She’s set aside her pride to accept help for her café, but she’s not about to set aside her heart—that heart can’t be trusted. Or can it? When George’s boyish flirtations finally break through and he comes to her rescue time and time again, will Elle finally give in?
Under the Covers is a very sweet, if somewhat predictable romance. It’s very low on the heat level, but a nice romance all the same. Elle and George have a lovely chemistry, and you can’t help but root for their romance to blossom. The intrigue with the ex added a bit of angst to the story that was needed to round things out.
Overall, this story was a nice and easy read and it was lovely to catch up with the other characters from the series. ~ Missy, 3.5-4 stars

Sweet and a little bit sexy. Happy, mostly light and so very easy to read. All things I thought as I finished this third instalment in the Texan Quartet, a series by Claire Boston that I’ve been enjoying, a great deal.
Finally getting on with her life after escaping her abusive ex, Elle is opening her bookshop/café and trying to be the best mom she can be to her five year old son, Toby. She doesn’t need a man, but when George Jones comes into her life, like a knight in shining armor, she finds it very difficult to deny her growing feelings for him.
George loves to rescue people, and he knows Elle’s been through hell. He wants to help her, but he also just wants her. She’s under his skin, and he’d like to get Under the Covers with her too.
When Elle’s past rears its ugly head, putting both Elle and Toby in danger, George races to the rescue. But with her history, getting Elle to trust him is no easy feat. Will George be able to get the girl and stop her ex from ruining everything she’s worked for?
This one was a super sweet romance, with a couple of big laugh-out-loud moments—courtesy of Toby. Out of the mouths of babes, right? Under the Covers was, perhaps, a little predictable, and a little ‘convenient’, especially in the beginning, but it did have all the hallmarks of an adorable and likeable story. And, Ms. Boston’s writing improved a great deal as the story wore on.
While the first couple of chapters moved a touch slow, and didn’t completely wow me, each new page added a little something to the overall feel of the book, to the point where I was very needy of a HEA for these two. In particular, George. Elle’s concerns, although legitimate, came across as repetitive at times and I just wanted to yell at her to open her eyes to what sweet, sexy George was offering. I mean, that man was…whoa, perfect!! A man that’s good and caring with kids? SIGN ME UP!
Under the Covers is just one of those fun, easy and quick reads that may not change your world, but has enough of the good stuff to stick with you long after the book is closed. There is one more to go in this quartet, and I am looking forward to getting my hands on it. I’m going to be sorry when this charming series ends! ~ Beth, 3.5 stars
Elle runs from her abusive ex, taking their son, Toby, to Houston to start a new life and a new business, her very own bookstore/café. Since her ex-boyfriend, Dean, showed no interest in Toby while they lived with him on his family’s ranch, she can’t imagine that he will care now.
On opening day at her new store, Elle begins to worry she may be in over her head, understaffed and underprepared for all the clientele. One of her waitresses calls in sick and her musician has a family emergency. When her pro bono lawyer and his friends show up to see how she’s faring, they end up offering to help. And especially helpful is his friend George Jones, a manager in the music business with an eye for a beautiful damsel in distress.
Elle hasn’t had any contact with her own family in years, even though she tried to reach out to them after Toby was born. And since Dean made sure that Elle never told anyone and his parents never witnessed any abuse, they can’t understand why Elle left with their grandson and doesn’t want to be found. Needless to say, Elle is very reluctant to take a chance on another man, even uncomfortable to be around anyone who seems interested. And George is definitely interested in getting to know Elle and Toby, too, who is an adorable almost-kindergartener. George can’t help his knight in shining armor complex and looking for ways to make Elle’s life easier, but he’s also willing to go slowly and give Elle as much time as she needs – within reason. He’s falling hard and fast for Elle and Toby and finding that he likes the idea of a ready-made family.
Nicely written characters and interesting relationships among a close knit group of friends, most of whom are very likeable and believable. It’s impossible, however, to like Dean’s mom, Lindsay, who may be a wonderful grandma but seems about as unhinged as her abusive son when dealing with Elle! I also was a little put off by George's sister calling him "Georgie-boy" -- just couldn't picture that being said with a Texas drawl! This is the third book in a series but works well as a stand alone read.

What I liked about this novel...
I loved this sweet love story about Elle and George. Now to make this story complete I will have to add Elle's son Toby because he really makes this story so cute. We find Elle had left a controlling and abusive ex boyfriend... taking her son and determined to move on with her life. Now Elle has a opened up a business and is doing OK with he son...meets George and will a friendship will come from it? We find that Elle has been hurt too many times in her life by that ex... so will she be able to trust George? I really liked how this author brings on this situation...with George slowing down a bit with Elle as she was able to meet his family and friends who had assistanced her several times as it was needed in her cafe/book store. I will say at this point this author really has some wonderful secondary characters who were well developed, defined, well portrayed and believe characters that will keep you turn the pages in this series ...and a couple I did not like [Ex boyfriend and his Mom]. As the story goes on we find that Elle will find her past has not been left behind...for her in law and ex boyfriend will come back into the picture. How will Elle be able to face this situation? With Elle not wanting to have in commitment to George what will come of this? What will happen as George tries to win her and the heart of her son? I don't want to spoil it for you other than say you will have to pick up this good read to see how it will be brought out to the readers. .
Even though this is a third series...I believe 'Under The Covers' can be read as a standalone.
I received this copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
When George sees Elle for the first time he is intrigued. He sees a woman struggling and a hint of fear. Fear from what he doesn't know but he plans to find out.
Elle is trying to make a new life for herself and her son. Opening a bookstore cafe is a dream come true, but Elle knows she has to give it a try even though it is a risk. Elle can admit that George is attractive and his flirtations do not go unnoticed, however she already had a disastrous relationship and is not ready to delve into another one anytime soon. George though is persistent and wants to be the one she leans to for all things. With an ex who doesn't want to give her up though, Elle is scared about what will happen next.
Elle's son Toby made this book entertaining, “so you want to ride Mom and that’s why you kissed her on the mouth?” George swallowed his groan. He was digging himself deeper and deeper." I mean he's just so innocent and funny, “George wants to ride you like a stallion rides a mare,” Toby said simply." I liked George and Elle but in was mainly focused on Toby I fell in love with that little boy.
The book seemed to have potential after reading the synopsis. But it seemed to start off a bit slow. I kept reading it, admittedly putting it down now and then, and lo and behold it got better. Another winning book and, like the other two books, I highly recommend it.
This series is not disappointing me at all, I love the characters and the way the group of friends are their for each other and the new comer unconditionally. This one we meet Elle who we met briefly in book 2, she had left a bad relationship and is learning to take back her own power. Another really enjoyable HEA love story.
3 stars While I truly like this series, and the characters, Elle is a most annoying fmc. I found her very difficult to like. George is a dream guy. He has been since Adrians book 1. Good story. Bitter abusive ex. Drama with in- laws. Break in and destruction. Took Elle way too long to realize how lucky she was that George fell in love with her.
Under The Cover was a sweet story that I instantly fell in love with. Now this book being the third in the series, that didn’t mean anything. It wasn’t like I was confused and didn’t know what was going on. Under The Covers was a stand alone novel.
Now as I digress, Under The Covers was about Elle, a mother who has ran away from her abusive ex-husband(boyfriend) Dean. She lives a few cities away from the farm that Dean’s parents owned in hopes to start a new life. Elle opens a little cafe to help support herself and her son, and wants help from no one. Especially not from a group of strangers who help her out on her grand opening, noticing that Elle in over her head with all the customers.
George is included in that group of strangers who helped Ellie out and he is instantly attracted to her, and vice versa. But with leaving her ex a few weeks ago, Elle is in no state of mind to be taking on a relationship any time soon.
Poor Elle is broken and scared, and the last thing she needs is for a surprise visit from her so called mother-in law. That visit springs forth drama to last until the end of the book. I did not like the mother-in law, I would have lit her a*s on fire if that was me. Dean, my god. He’s the scum of the earth and he doesn’t deserve Toby.
George, I didn’t see him as flirtatious(Well, in this book). I saw that he had good intentions for Elle. I never once questioned his motives or any of his actions. I did however worry for Elle the entire read. I wondered how in her state she would handle George and his feelings for her. At times I wanted to yell at her because George only wanted to help and she was shutting him out(For good reasons) but still.
I loved how sweet and patient George was with Ellie and his understanding was unmeasurable. I found it cute that although he had kids of his own, he was very kind to Toby. Omg, I died with laughter when George was trying to explain different kinds of ‘Liking’ when it comes to kissing and Toby twisted that into George wanting to ride Ellie, like a horse. Hehe. I mean he did, but it was cute. I had to tell my husband that one.
I’m happy Ellie got a good man and a good group of friends. My heart broke at the end when George wanted to go to Ellie but he was unsure of her feelings. I really felt for the man.
I will admit, I thought the ex would have caused more trouble near the end. I guess I was expecting more of a BANG to end, but I’m satisfied with the way everything worked out.

Under the Covers by Claire Boston was a book that was easy to lose myself in with great characters I really enjoyed getting to know.
I really liked Elle. She doesn't dwell on the past...instead she uses it as a motivator to push herself into the future. She is young, but mature beyond her years. She is a hard worker, a devoted mother, independent, brave, and strong. Elle is not going to depend on anyone anymore or let anyone make decisions for her. She came out of a really bad experience, and instead of letting it hold her back or poison her against all men, she is determined to make a good life for herself and her young son. I really, really like these characteristics in a heroine. Even though Elle has no desire for any kind of relationship, she's above painting all men with the same brush as her ex. I like what Elle is doing, and I love her business!!
George was attracted to Elle from the moment he laid eyes on her. Of course Elle can see his hotness, but she's not looking to get involved with anyone. George can't stop thinking about Elle though, and soon they are spending some time together. As much as Elle fights it, a relationship of sorts does form. Not only between Elle and George, but between Elle's son and George. George needs to take it slow though...he wants to rush in, help Elle, and do whatever he can for her. He's doing it for the right reasons, but Elle can't help but feel overwhelmed and scared. I liked that George wanted to take care of Elle, but he tends to rush into things without thinking of the consequences or Elle's feelings. Understanding Elle's past is the key to putting things in perspective for George.
When Elle's past comes back to threaten her future and her livelihood, will Elle realize it's ok to lean on others? That maybe George is just who she can envision a future with?
I really enjoyed the secondary characters in Under the Covers...from the group of friends, to George's family, even to Elle's ex's family. They all added depth and livened up the plot in a special way, often making me wish they were my friends!
Claire writes smoothly with great flow to the plot. She kept me very interested and at times on edge!
I'd recommend Under the Covers to any romance reader, especially if you like a touch of suspense to the plot!
I found this book and author from Net Gallery. We meet Elle, who we learn has fled her abusive ex. Alone, with her five-year-old son, and without any support, she has managed to pull herself up and open a bookshop café. However, she runs into some major hiccups, as she is busier than she expected to be and one of her employees failed to show up. During the chaos of trying to get things under control, George walks into the café and there is an immediate attraction between them. Elle is determined to push him away, since she thinks the last thing she wants is another man getting in her way.
"George has always been a sucker for a damsel in distress, and Elle ticks all the boxes. But Elle's not interested in being rescued by anyone, especially not him. She knows her taste in men can't be trusted, but fighting George's charisma is harder than she expected. And George, who is not one to ignore an itch, has found there's something about Elle that's got under his skin."
"When Elle's ex turns up to cause trouble, George must overcome his boyish flirtatiousness if he's to convince Elle to trust herself and let him into her life. But can Elle put her past behind her before it overwhelms her present?"
I was surprised that there was no teasing about George's name being George Jones, but that's just me. I absolutely LOVED this book and the characters, so I went looking for other books by Ms. Boston and found this was the third book in a series. I immediately purchased the first two books to read more about the characters that I already met in this book and then there will be at least one more book next year that I will buy as well. You definitely want to pick up this series and meet this wonderful group of people - you will NOT be disappointed.
Favorite quote: "You mean when they act all silly and the stallion tries to ride the mare." Toby laughed. "He's too big to get on top of her." ********** **Complimentary Copy provided by Author for an honest review.**
I somehow missed Book Two in this series (surprised?) but I did get to read the first one, What Goes On Tour, and at the time I said I hoped there would be another because I wanted to see more of George. And boy did Boston delivery.
George is great. He’s amazingly understanding and cares a lot about people. He’s a great fit as a band manager and some of the traits that work for that also work well in his personal relationships. He’s good at paying attention, about helping out when needed, and he’s a fixer … the only problem is that Elle doesn’t want any help. At all. She’s just gotten out of an abusive relationship with a controlling man and having someone step in to direct her life immediately causes issues. Good thing that George is a fast learner and patient. He makes a few mistakes along the way, a lot of that because Elle is still skittish, but he figures things out and proves to be great hero material.
There isn’t a lot of suspense or danger, although Elle’s ex does make a few appearances, causing trouble - mainly we focus on the growth of Elle & George’s relationship. They work their way thru the relationship minefield that her past (and his personality) have created and it’s done very well. In real life I think that Elle might have needed a little more time, but the interactions between the two are believable. It’s a journey of steps for them and readers will be happy to be there for every single one.
(If you haven’t read the rest of The Texan Quartet, you’ll be fine. I was a little afraid that missing Book 2 would be an issue for me but Boston does a great job of keeping you in the loop – telling you who’s who and the important parts of their stories. And now I’m so curious about Imogen’s story that I’m adding it to my TBR pile. And I’ll definitely keep my eye out for Book 4.)

Under the Covers (The Texan Quartet #3) is the 3rd book in a standalone series by Author Claire Boston.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I found it to be a very light and easy read. Although, I felt that I didn’t need to read any of the prior stories to this one, I would be interested in going back and checking them all out at some point.
Under The Covers was about a woman named Elle, a mom who ran away from her abusive ex, Dean. Elle wants to open up a cafe to be able to support herself and her son and is quite adamant about doing it on her own, which I found quite admirable and brave.
George happens to be a part of a group who has helped Elle out and he is quickly enamored with her, and she with him as well. Due to leaving her ex only a just few weeks ago, Elle feels that she is in no position to be thinking about taking on a new relationship so soon but she does have a hard time denying her feelings for George.
George not only wanted to help take care of Elle because he could see what she had been through but he truly wanted her as a man who just wants a woman, lol! He was so sweet and caring and I loved that about him. I also love a romance where kids are involved because for me it takes on a whole new level of true and unconditional love! George was so patient and understanding with Elle, he was a really great guy.
When Elle’s past comes back to haunt her, it puts both Elle and Toby in a bit of danger, George can’t get to their rescue fast enough. Unfortunately with Elle’s history, getting her to completely trust him is no easy task and I was rooting for George all the way!
All in all this was a very light hearted and sweet romance with a touch of drama that kept my interest. It started off a bit slow but once it picked up, I found myself enjoying it. I didn’t fall head over heels in love with it but it was a nice fun book that was easy to read!
The last thing Elle needs is a man as charming as George Jones getting in her way but George has always been a sucker for a damsel in distress and Elle ticks all the boxes in this sweet contemporary romance.
After fleeing her abusive ex, Elle and her five-year-old son are determined to rebuild their life and the reader can’t help but get drawn into the story as George sets out to convince Elle that not all men are like her ex. The chemistry between Elle and George smolders from every page but due to Elle’s past there is a lot of emotional issues that Sir George will have to work through but let me tell you that I think George is the perfect man for the task. The characters are strong, captivating and capture the heart with word and deed while the plot flows smoothly with a steady to fast pace that stirs emotions and draws readers in with suspense and romance.
If the romantic suspense doesn’t cause enough tension, then Elle’s ex coming back into the picture will surely have you on edge and wanting to take a baseball bat to the whiney so and so as he causes Elle quite a bit of stress. The scenes and details are well written and paint vivid images making it easy for the reader to picture every scene as it happens and to fall in love with the characters while the well-orchestrated events ensure that the reader can’t put the story down.
I was completely caught up in this heart-warming and sweet romance as Elle triumphs over her past and has the courage to take another chance on love. I haven’t read the previous books in this series but that wasn’t a problem as I easily slid right into enjoying the book and the author brought these characters to such vibrant life that I am going to have read the first two while I am waiting for the fourth one to come out

"Sometimes you find things you're not looking for."
Elle is a single mother who is running away from her ex too begin again in a new city without anyone's help ,so she starts with opening a cafe who gives her the chance to meet new people and to start again in life
George is the perfect example of the prince charming, he's kind, friendly and he always wants to help people without expect nothing in return, so when he meets Elle something in her attracts him completely and he doesn't hesitate in try to attract her attention, even when Elle seems not interested on it, but when her abusive ex comes back for her and her son, George feels that he can't leave Elle alone so he decides to help her even if she doesn't want it
When Elle thinks that she managed to leave the past behind, the family of her ex finds her and wants a chance to be with her son, but this won't end well because her ex comes back to take her and her son with him, but Elle is not the same girl as before and she isn't going tto tolerate any type of violence to her and her son, so with the help of all the new people that she has in her life she starts to fight to draw her ex out of her life
The relationship that she has with George at the beginning is complicated because she doesn't want any type of commitment, but George with simple things tears down the barriers and he shows her all the feelings that he has for her, it takes time and a lot of doubts but finally George manages to win her, but the most important he wins the heart of her son.
So, a heroine on the run from an abusive ex with her young child is not the most original plot out there, that doesn't mean that I'm not interested in reading the resulting story and have read some really good novels using this plot device.
This book, the first by Claire Boston I have read, isn't the best of those I have read, while it was well written, I struggle slightly with the connection between our hero and heroine slightly, I didn't feel it had the depth that I really wanted it to. While I now know that they were previous books in the series where the supporting cast would have been introduced, I was initially confused as to who everyone was as not only the hero and heroine introduced but most of the supporting characters were all introduced within the first few pages so I was initially confused as to the relationship between everyone.
There are a couple of relative in-explicit sex scenes, they aren't a big part of the book, which is neither a plus or minus for me, I don't tend to read these kind of books for the sex scenes.
The book kept my attention sufficiently and I enjoyed it but it didn't love it, it wasn't one of those books where you can't stop reading. I may read the others in the series and might enjoy this book more with some more of George's backstory supplied by the first two novels in this series.
Overall, not a bad book by any stretch of the imagination, just not a great book either.

Under the Covers (Texan Quartet #3) - Claire Boston
***** 5 Stars *****
This is the 3rd book in the Texan Quartet series, as I didn't realise as I didn't read any of Claire Boston books until this one. Luckily its standalones ~ Phew!!
Elle Carter is one strong, brave girl as we get to know her as her story follows, She fled from her abusive ex boyfriend as soon he laid his hands on their 5 year old Toby. As he was so controlling she didn't have friends or her family due to her ex Dean.
She opened up this amazing cafe with bookstore so she could start rebuilding to create a safe haven for herself & her son Toby. In walks this amazing, charming, sexy as hell down to earth guy - George Jones.. *Swoon*
When George met her while he was with his friends that I came to adore, he didn't count on her to that this effect on him to the point he needs to figure her out, OMG I absolutely love him, you could feel the chemistry between Elle & George...
She didn't want to be in a relationship as she wants to focus on herself, Toby & her little business.... George being the kind of guy we all need in our lives!! He doesn't give up, as he knows she's been through so much. Love the bond between Toby & George.. pulled my heartstrings!!
I've laughed and cried reading this amazing story!
It's a must read.... seriously you will love this one!

Elle wants to provide for her son Toby and she feels starting her own bookstore & coffee shop is the best way. Her soft opening has brought in more customers than she expected. As a single Mom with no family in the area she is not sure how she will make the soft opening a success; then a friend of a friend walks in the door.
I liked Elle as a character. I really appreciated the soft side of her character. There were a lot of great tender "Mom" moments. Her nervousness about a new relationship was understandable. George has been a favorite character in all the books and I am so happy he found love with Elle. In this book we got to know George's family more, and they are so warm. They were great ways to show us more of George's soft side. The interaction between George and Toby was wonderful too; it was great that Toby was an integral character to the plot. It would have been easy to just make the five year old disappear. I did feel a family was being created.
The plot was easy to follow - all steam was behind closed doors. The conflict was understandable and leant itself to a quick resolution. We had a few glances at favorite characters from the other books which I just loved.
I truly love this series and I am sad I only have one book left in the Texas Quartet.
I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my honest review.
"Under the Covers" is a sweet, clean love story. It follows Elle who fled from her abusive partner with her young son in tow. She has succeeded in opening a cafe where she meets George (George Jones! Kept thinking country music every time the name was mentioned) and his group of friends. I loved George, his family and group of friends and their interactions probably more than the budding relationship between Elle and George. Actually, the bond between George and Elle's son was more swoon worthy than the relationship between the heroine and the hero. The chemistry just wasn't quite there. Still, it was an easy quick read with some funny and some tense moments and kept me entertained to the end. This was a new author for me, and I hadn't realized that this is the third book in a series. I usually like to start at the beginning, but it worked fine as a stand-alone as well. There's just enough background information on the other characters that I've become tempted to check out book 1 in the future. I received a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an unbiased review.
This is the 3rd book in this series and should be read in order
George-sexy and hot
Ellie-pretty and sweet
This is George an Ellie’s journey that is sweet, romantic and funny. As their journey takes ground the turmoil of raising a son takes its toll but so does the newness of what is to become. The laughable times of this woman with George coming into the forefront is light and airy. Can the bond between the three take hold and be a forever forging bond? Can Ellie finally find her forever with George and can the relationship with the newness of the bonds with business in tow be just the right medicine?
The sex between this couple was like starting a fire in the night of dusk. From gathering of the twigs to the first strike of the proverbial match in lightening to the slowness of the sparks that lights the fire within. A most awesomeness sight.
To the author: This read was so sensual and romantic with the twisting of the real life drama thrown it. The realness of the characters in real life situations made this an impossible read to put down. Kudos
This is a story about a young woman who left a controlling and abusive ex with her young son determined to move on. She opens up a book store and on the opening day realizes she is unprepared for the success of the store. Several customers realize she needs help and step in to assist her.
George is immediately taken by Elle and can't wait to get to know her further. Elle on the other hand wants nothing to do with George beyond maybe a friendship. Elle has been hurt too many times and doesn't think that she can trust George. George slowly breaks down her walls, his family and friends quickly coming to her assistance more times than she wants to admit.
I had not realized that this book was part of a series however I did not feel lost because of not reading the other two books. In fact, reading this book has made me want to go and read the other two books in this series. I felt myself wanting to know more about Adrian and what his back story must have been like.

Now there are good things and bad things about this read...hmm where to start? Elle has had an abusive past. A past that she was able to get away from even with a child in tow. Of course, she has doubts and trust issues. I felt it was a little extreme in some parts. George seemed he was genuinely in like with her. Toby had some funny things to say at times, but kids really do talk that way! Lol..I did laugh out loud a couple of times and that made me up it a star, but there were two love scenes (the only scenes in this book) where I was reading then I had to re-read because I was saying They had sex?? Where? Did I miss something? The only way I realized they had was because it was mentioned in the next paragraph or chapter. It does not have to go in detail, but at least let it be known it happened! Well, that is my review and so I am on to the next!
I received this ARC from the publisher via Net Galley for my honest review. Thank you Net Galley!!
Let me start by saying that if you like Contemporary Romance Genre, as in Nora Roberts, Liane Moriarty, Jojo Moyes and Jane Green, Under the Covers (The Texan Quartet #3) by Claire Boston is perfect for you!
Elle is determined to rebuild her life, and protect Toby her five-year-old son by running away from an abusive relationship and start over again, and the last thing she needs is a man as charming as George Jones getting in her way. However, soon her past will come back to hunt her.
George is a charmer and has always been a sucker for a damsel in distress, and Elle ticks all the boxes. He’s kind, friendly and helps people without expecting anything in return. It was a lovely story. I was easily taken by Toby and George and I love them both!
I definitely like Claire Boston’s style and this won’t be my last book from this Author!
I liked this book. It was just what I needed after reading my previous book. Claire has developed some awesome people to go with this story line. I knew it would become a heartbreaker. Elle had been young and caught up in love. Too bad it didn't work that way with her partner. Her ex, Dean, was enabled by his parents. She wanted her baby. He didn't. Major Spoilers. Now she has her own bookstore cafe. She is introduced to George, a manager to people wanting the spotlight. There is a special bond between Elle, Toby and George. Happy Spoiler. Then there are Major Spoilers near the end. This is a short story. You may even fall into the story like I did. I hope so. Please give this book a chance. You won't regret it! I have this book for an honest review for NetGalley.

This storyline isn't unique but it's one I usually like. Unfortunately for me I could not connect with the h. Her thought processes, her actions, almost everything about her I didn't love. I honestly could not see what the H saw in her. The connection/passion between the H and h was absolutely missing for me.
I rarely don't finish a book and this was one I really struggled to finish. I kept checking to see how many pages were left.
Under the Covers was a good book. I want to go find the books for the friends in the this story because they sound like they have their own good stories. I enjoyed this book. The story kept me interested. This book is about a woman who was beaten by her ex and has a long way to go to be able to trust another man. The hero is that man. He is a man who is used to getting what he wants, but she makes him work for it. It is a slow process of earning her trust. They eventually fall in love and find their HEA. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review.
This was such a feel good story! I love happy endings with some turmoil along the way. Elle is rebuilding her life after leaving her awful ex. She meets George when he visits her bookstore cafe and he immediately is drawn to her and wants to help her flourish. She is understandable skeptical of him at first, but slowly beings to trust and like him. Their relationship develops naturally and the rest of the story is so enjoyable. He sticks by her side when her ex finds her and helps her truly believe in love and trust again!
