Extraordinary!
Into the Fire should be mandatory reading for anyone working in Emergency Medical Services. Written by a person who has worked for decades in the field with invaluable insight, expertise and a unique perspective having been through the Waco catastrophe. The author reflects upon relevant communication between the players. He describes agencies who should work together but were often attempting to resolve the conflict with direct opposing methods. Larry Johnson’s book Into the Fire is an exemplary case study for inter-agency collaboration. On a human level, I found the book quite moving. I am sorry for what happened to those involved and the pain that doesn’t go away once the ordeal is over. Through his pain, Larry’s book allows us the opportunity to do better.
