About the author

Ian Rogers is the author of the award-winning collection, Every House Is Haunted. His novelette, “The House on Ashley Avenue,” was a finalist for the Shirley Jackson Award and is currently being adapted into a feature film produced by Sam Raimi. His debut novel, Family, originally published by Earthling Publications, will be reprinted by Gallery Books in May 2027. He is also the creator of the Black Lands series. The first book, Sycamore, was published by Cemetery Dance Publications.

Ian's short fiction has appeared in several publications, including Tor.com, Cemetery Dance, Broken Pencil, and Shadows & Tall Trees. His work has been selected for The Best Horror of the Year and Imaginarium: The Best Canadian Speculative Writing.

Another Rapture review but this is not a new to me author, I found Ian when I got to ARC Badlands and there my obsession started and have read so many of his books since.

This was another amazing one by him and add on its Rapture, I was pumped to grab a copy.

First off and what a first sentence, Cecilia has zero chill 😅, but I already have a preconceived notion I'm gonna hate her lol.

I'm the oldest so it's not just younger child bias, she's awful, but Regreta, what a nick name.

Playing ghosts can't possibly go wrong and I stopped to think, what could that mean, just a fun silly game to play with your sibling or is this something, darker..

Greta getting the fitted sheet while her sister got the flat, really felt like more then just a sheet, it was just another micro transgression against Greta, another chip in the stone of their relationship and said so much.

Then it got weird and I was back and forth, is this a joke or is this something crazier, fitted sheets are typically thinner but thst thin..

Thin enough to push through, oh dear..

Oh dear, I had a feeling, and the mom just not even listening.

Ms Honeywell tho and her house.. Perception is what you see what you believe and her students reflected that.

They were a found family of ideas the world rejected and could not accept, but Greta was something between.

She had a choice to make.

How does Ian make even short stories a whole fleshed out well done book, this was dark and sad and somehow comforting.

These chapbooks from Rapture Publishing never miss. This is the 4th one I've read and they're all 4-5 star quality. I've read a lot of Ian Rogers--most notably, SHARDS and Every House is Haunted (optioned by Sam Raimi) A film based on “The House on Ashley Avenue” is in development at Netflix.

This story about two sisters (one is a terrible bully to the younger) who try on some sheets to play like they're ghosts. Something odd happens to the younger sister when she puts on her fitted sheet. There is a vampire girl named, Sadie (made my day)

I loved the illustrations. Also, this would be a great children's book.
