The Resolution is the fourth installment in The New Homefront Series where patriotic Americans struggle to survive while fighting the evil and tyranny that pervades their new world.
As the country continued to struggle amidst the fallout from the orchestrated collapse, the United Nations and other foreign entities continued to increase their influence, taking advantage of a nation desperate for order. Introduced as “peacekeepers” by the current administration, armed foreign troops occupied U.S. territory for the first time since the Japanese invaded the Aleutian Islands in Alaska, occupying the islands of Kiska and Attu in 1942-43.
Initially, the UN established itself in major metropolitan areas such as Atlanta, New York, Seattle, and Los Angeles; once seen as a legitimate government presence, they began to venture out into rural areas to quell any potential resistance to their true intentions—enjoying the spoils of a war they did not even have to fight. America and its valuable resources were ripe for the picking, or so it seemed.
The one thing the occupiers did not count on was the will of the American people, a people born into a freedom that was handed down to them since the founders pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honors to resist the tyranny they faced under King George III. The patriots of today may face a different foe, but the struggle to hold on to their natural, God-given rights is the same as their forefathers. Human nature will always go in one of two those who will give up freedom for security, and those who will give their lives in the struggle for freedom.

I have enjoyed reading The new Homefront series. I like a bit of a dystopian storyline, so that's one. Then the writing style was a huge step out of my normal area. It was the first book I have ever read where there was so much detail and obvious knowledge of (a ton of different) guns, ammunition and how to use them. It was weird and interesting at the same time. (most characters had their favorite guns and such)
I think (but really, it is just a guess) that the writer has a background in the military. He portaits a tactical insight and use of weapons in a way I have never read before. Also he is very clearly on the other end of the political spectrum than I am.
But anyways, it was an interesting story to read, although the author really, really should read up on some of his synonyms. that, ór UNEVENTFUL must be his favorite word in the world.
Evan and Jason and the rest of the crew that sought to recover new supplies have been captured by the UN Peacekeeping forces and separated. While trying to escape, and find their way home again things are not going well at the homestead. Will the oppression being brought about by those supposedly in charge finally defeat those that seek to remain free?
Bird’s fourth novel in The New Homefront series, The Resolution, is one of the saddest so far. Those that do not want to be dependent upon the government suffer the most. It does offer hope and new beginnings.
It will be interesting to see where the story takes up from here.
I read all four of these books and completely love them. Love the character's, love the comardership they have with one another to survive and become families with complete strangers, l just hope that if l live long enough to go threw what these families went threw , that my little side of the world have people like them for neighbors. I say Roger Roger on these books.
I’ve read all the books by the DD12 Authors, and saved this Steven Bird’s series for last. The story is tight, the characters are engaging and believable. I devoured this series in record time, only because I wanted to know more-it just kept on coming! I like Steven’s gentle mentions of faith, his devotion to accuracy when it comes to firearms and his emphasis on a strong family unit. Great job!
As I read this book, I couldn't help but believe that I was there with the characters and families of this book. As I have read several of Steven Birds books, I must say the he is a master of this GENRE! He will and has kept me enthralled with the storyline and characters of the homefront. The emotions of the characters leap off the page and grip your heart. I am looking forward to starting the next installment.
The Guardians link up with the Blue Ridge Militia in an effort to push back against the UN "peacekeepers" who've basically been given carte blanche to pillage and imprison anyone they chose under the auspices of the NDAA and searching for insurectionists. When the people of the homesteads are seen as terrorists for merely trying to survive without being beholden to the new government, things get crazy and they're forced to hide out while the patriot fighters try to turn the tide.
Book #4? Book 5? I want more. Absolutely loved the series. It is terrible when some of the main characters die, but that is war. Although some of the men think they are super heroes, they are just men supporting their Constitution.
The Guardians continue their mission of protecting the homesteads within their AO. Things have not been going well for our group and lives have been lost. UN forces have expanded into The Guardians territory and the situation is going from bad to worse. Our boys go out on a scavenging run, get stopped by UN troops, and become reluctant guests of same. The four men are split into two groups and held in separate areas. Two men within a group of survivors escape their captors with help from the militia. They are gratefully resupplied, rearmed, and sent on their way home. The other two men are held captive at an airfield in Atlanta. They too manage to escape, again thanks to the militia, and head for home. By necessity The Guardians must become further involved with the Blue Ridge Militia. If they want to continue protecting their homestead and others, they will need the additional men and firepower.
Whenever I start a book, a series, or a novella, my first personal criteria is to not just relate or empathize with the characters, but to actually understand their reasonings due to their weaknesses, and their courage due to their strengths. This is clearly apparent in this book. Mr. Bird has exposed the innermost feelings of his characters in a tragic and prophetic future and has allowed the reader to become a part of it. The joy of these characters will be shared with a spontaneous chuckle, the frustration will no doubt cause the reader to huff and shake his or her head, the heartache, the pain, the futility will bow the reader's head with maybe a tear....
I could not stop reading into the evening and by the time I finished, I knew that I would need to start at the beginning of The Homefront series again. I loved it, felt it and have recommended this to all of my family and friends. Mr. Bird has a gift! I look forward to more from him!
As Nate and Ed continue to be incarcerated in Atlanta, Jason and Evan make a dangerous truck home in time to find a safe place for the homestead families to bug-out while they are faced with UN troops attacking the home front. I'm not going to spoil it for you, the reader, I will just say it is action packed and heart breaking at the same time. Steve Bird had done a good job with this series and I'm looking forward to seeing his next writing venture. As always, happening reading, and plan something.
I really enjoyed this series. I knew that book was almost over and was hoping there was more to the story. As the last page neared I was excited that there had to be. The last chapter should have been an epilogue. The book ended abruptly and left us hanging with an ending, but not one with enough details about the last few chapters. Very disappointed with the ending. Hope another book comes out to address the future of this group and exactly what happened in the battle.

I absolutely loved the Homestead series. Fell in love with the characters, the story line was riveting, and believable. Steven Bird is an author to be watched. Would love to see this series made into a movie, or a mini series. I hope that book four isn't the last, as it's sad to see it end. So much more to tell where book four ended, and left me wanting to know more. Bravo!
This hard been a series I have really enjoyed reading. I love books that take Americans back to their roots and lets them show their patriotism and will to survive. Would have been a five, but it seemed to just stop. Not a satisfying and complete ending. Great series.
Highly Recommended! Very well written, I get so caught up in the story, I grieve when the characters grieve, laugh when they laugh... I will read this series again!
