Well, I think this book could've been shorter.
Since Bedeviled is the last book in the series, I wanna say that I really liked the overall plot and atmosphere of these books. I enjoyed how everything takes place in the modern world, but at the same time there is so much magic: witches, demons, faes, werewolves, etc. I really appreciated how Laura Thalassa combined all these different aspects and created this weird mix of modern life and fantasy.
Specifically in this book, I liked the relationship between Selene and her best friend, Sybil. I remember complaining about them in my previous reviews because they never felt like besties to me, but that definitely changed in this book. I also absolutely loved the part where all the witches worked together, and I really enjoyed the overall atmosphere during those scenes.
Now, what actually ruined my experience: SELENE BOWERS. Yes, the main character herself!
Selene has always been stupid and cringe, but damn, in this book I just couldn't handle her anymore. Her inner monologues are INCREDIBLY CRINGE. There is a part where she says her vagina looks like a wrinkled old goblin. Thank you, Selene, but I really did not need that image in my head.
And then there is that whole thing where she calls Sybil's dad "dear old daddy" and jokes several times about him spanking her. Is this supposed to be funny? A married woman joking about her best friend's father spanking her? These are just two examples, but the book is FULL of this kind of humor. I suppose the author's and my sense of humor just don't match at all, because I did not find any of this funny.
Besides being cringe, Selene is also incredibly STUPID! Because who in the world would accept a drink from their deadliest enemy? Well, of course Selene would! Gods, WHY? Why does the author keep making her so stupidly reckless? At this point, it just feels like weak writing. The author needs something to happen, so instead of finding a believable way to move the plot forward, she just makes her characters stupid enough to do it.
Also, the repetitiveness with Selene getting saved was getting ridiculous. I swear it happens 3-4 times where Selene is, as usual, alone, gets herself into trouble, fights, gets badly injured, passes out, and then Memnon conveniently arrives just in time to save the day! I don't mind this happening once, but when it happens several times in basically the exact same way, it just becomes funny.
And I was constantly wondering why Selene's school wasn't trying to protect her? Or why she didn't seek protection? It seems like the High Priestess kinda knew what was going on, but still didn't do much to protect Selene. It was so weird to me that other young witches would help her a little, while the actual teachers and the principal, people who should logically be much more experienced with magic, basically did nothing. Like...what are you even here for?
There is not much to say about Memnon. He is your super cool, super in-love, super hot, super strong, super rich guy. Selene constantly thinks of him as "my cruel husband," but honestly, all he does is punish bad guys. I wouldn't exactly call him all that cruel.
Now, about Selene and Memnon. I did like the romance between them and their bond. But the sex scenes were just too cringey for me. It might be because my tastes have changed lately and I'm not a big fan of explicit scenes in books anymore, but I feel like these were especially corny and repetitive. It's basically the same power play over and over again.
And then there's breeding kink...? Look, I'm a very open-minded person, but Memnon constantly talking about breeding was just YIKES, especially considering that Selene is only 20 and doesn't even want kids. And oh god, she is way too stupid and irresponsible to have kids anyway. But of course, she basically goes "whatever" and stops using contraception.
In the end, I'm just happy this series is over!

Selene and Memnon are of course, eternal. I loved them so so much. Memnon is morally questionable and a complete loose cannon but for Selene he is so openhearted and gentle. He will literally decimate their enemies and rip demons apart and then make Selene some tea and tuck her and Nero into bed. He made them both flower crowns!! I loved how their relationship here grew, even after so many years together. Memnon is willing to put himself wholly into Selene's hands, but is also completely honest with her. And Selene finally lets herself wholly fall for Memnon and be emotional with him. I just loved all of their quiet scenes together, both confessing what's in their hearts.
After reading The Curse That Binds you could see the mistakes they both made in the past that lead to their deaths and here you can see they've both learnt from those and are willing to change course. Memnon isn't going to just continually push and consolidate power without keeping an eye on his enemies- he was betrayed before and lost Selene, and he is sure as hell not going to let that happen again. And Selene here speaks up and helps plan and strategize and doesn't just go along with with things when her gut is telling her not to.
The epilogue was very sweet and honestly I wish it was longer- but I also would just read chapters and chapters of these two living their lives in peace.
Also it was so fun to see Desmond! You definitely don't have to have read The Bargainer to understand his part in this story as everything is explained, but it was great to have him hanging around.

I think LT did a good job weaving all of the plots together and tying them up nice and neat, while also giving us so many great scenes with our two main characters

Let me just first start off by saying that I am writing this as a massive fan of the first 3 installments of this series, but this book was a disappointment.
First of all, Selene's internal monologue was so cringy, and most of her decisions just left me baffled and very frustrated. From making jokes about fucking Sybil's dad and like what do you mean your mortal enemy who just broke into your room and offers you some drink, and you take it. Then you get suprised when it starts harming the bond between you and Memmon. Also in the beginning of the book her pretty much just tearing up the annuealment while admitting that it was probably a horrible a decision without really considering any real factors besides Memmon's puppy dog eyes. Selene's just overall lack of critical thinking really starting getting to me.
Then also her giving into Memmon about the conceptive ring, and taking it off just to appease him in the moment and then 3 seconds later after they finish putting it back on and being like oh well. Idk, this example of coercion that Memmon uses to get Selene to do things that she obviously doesn't want to do, and strongly objected to earlier in the series, just highlights the almost uncomfortable power dynamic. What also bothered me was her being pregnant at graduation and giving birth right after in the epilogue. Like I feel like there could be so much more to Selene and Memmon's relationship beyond just having a bunch of kids. Like earlier Selene was presented as this badass feminist character who wasn't going to completely alter her life for a man, and now she can't even finish school without getting pregnant just because of Memmon's breeding kink. Also not to mention that they now has infinite life spans, so there's no like biological ticking clock. I do understand that this is suppose to be a closed circle moment from all the tragedy from Roxilana's life, I just feel like Selene's ambition that she showed at the beginning of the series, which made her appealing to me as FMC, all but disappeared.
Also, while I definitely do appreciate the interconnectness of Laura Thalassa's worlds, like Eislyne being from the Flora world, I feel like The Bargainer showing up and playing such a major role in the conclusion of the series didn't sit right with me. Its suppose to be about Memmon and Selene and some character, who especially if you havent read The Bargainer and formed an emotional connect and understand the backstory of Desmond, it really just annoys you because he more and or less solves all of Selene's problems.
And finally the plot. I feel like the book could be split in 2 and the two halve would give off completely different energies. The first half of the book is Selene and Memmon for lack of better words just getting freaky everyother chapter, with no real plot development. Let me say, I'm all here for spice, but there gets to a point where something else has to occur. After about the halfway mark the spice bascially disapears and we get into the action portion of the book. For the rest of the book teh same sequences pretty much happens 5 times in a row. Memmon leaves, Selene rushing into danger unprepared, Selene gets knocked out, and when she wakes up Memmon is carrying her away. Let's just say it got repetitive after a while. Honestly most of the time it also felt like why are only Memmon and Selene doing anything, like where is the High Presitess, the other coven witches, the werewolves, politia etc.., who all were all pretty involved in the conflicts leading up to this point in the series, so I'm not sure where they all went.
What I will say I enjoyed a lot more in this book was Selene and Sybil's relationship. I felt it got a lot more fleshed out, and I really started to relate more to Sybil's character instead of just seeing her as some sidecharacter whose scenes are skim able.

i think romantasy and dark romance authors need to understand that if you have a bdsm scene with spanking without any prior discussion about it and without any safewords with the fmc not even being sure if shes into spanking and the mmc never talking to her about it thats not a bdsm scene thats domestic abuse

I really loved this book. Finishing Bedeviled feels so bittersweet because after everything Selene and Memnon have been through, I genuinely wasn’t ready to say goodbye to them.
This series has been such a journey, and I’ve loved watching Selene grow into herself and become stronger throughout the story. She’s come such a long way, and seeing everything finally come together for her was so satisfying.
And Memnon… well, he is still completely, unapologetically Memnon. Possessive, obsessive, powerful and absolutely devoted to Selene. I wouldn’t want him any other way. I’ve loved his character from the beginning, and watching his love for Selene unfold throughout the series has been one of my favourite parts.
There was so much happening in this book, but I was completely invested from beginning to end. I loved the magic, the drama, the romance, the twists and, most of all, all those little moments between Selene and Memnon. After everything they had been through, finally getting to see their story come together was everything I wanted.
And that ending made me emotional, not because I was unhappy with it, but because it felt like the end of such a long, unforgettable journey. I’ve become so attached to these characters and this world, and even though I’m so happy with how everything wrapped up, I’m definitely going to miss them.

It seems this author didn’t know how to finish her story so she abandoned the plot and gave us a smutty twilight retelling ☹️

Bedeviled was such a bittersweet book to finish because this is genuinely one of my all-time favorite series. Saying goodbye to these characters definitely hurt, but I absolutely loved where Selene and Memnon’s story ultimately ended. After everything they’ve been through, seeing them finally get the ending they deserved was so satisfying.
That being said, this wasn’t my favorite book in the series. Out of the four books, this one felt a little different, especially when it came to the pacing. There were moments where things felt slower than I expected, and the pacing just felt a little odd compared to the previous books. Even the prequel—which I absolutely LOVED—had a flow that worked better for me.
But despite that, I still really enjoyed this book. The emotional moments between Selene and Memnon were everything, and seeing their relationship come full circle made the slower parts worth it. And the connections to The Bargainer series? I was absolutely living for that. I love when an author connects their worlds, and those little moments were such a fun surprise.
This series has given me ancient magic, witches, soulmates, morally gray characters, unforgettable characters, and one of my favorite possessive sorcerer kings. Even though Bedeviled wasn’t my favorite of the series, it was still a pretty damn good ending to a series I’ve loved so much.

There were moments where things felt slower than I expected, and the pacing just felt a little odd compared to the previous books. Even the prequel—which I absolutely LOVED—had a flow that worked better for me.
But despite that, I still really enjoyed this book. The emotional moments between Selene and Memnon were everything, and seeing their relationship come full circle made the slower parts worth it. And the connections to The Bargainer series? I was absolutely living for that. I love when an author connects their worlds, and those little moments were such a fun surprise.
This series has given me ancient magic, witches, soulmates, morally gray characters, unforgettable characters, and one of my favorite possessive sorcerer kings. Even though Bedeviled wasn’t my favorite of the series, it was still a pretty damn good ending to a series I’ve loved so much.
A bittersweet goodbye, but one I’m very happy with. 🖤✨

Finally, it's over. Memnon finally had his happy ending with our Selene.
I'm obviously easily pleased with this author, especially with a reincarnation trope as its main theme. That prologue book, hands down, one of the most beautiful love story I've ever read. Overall, as a series, the beginning was a bit rough, the prologue book shines the best, and this one delivered its ending satisfyingly.
I have no problems with this book whatsoever. Too little plot happened? I don't care. As long as I can see these two being happy.
All in all, have nothing concrete to say. I just love this series.

I have been reading Laura Thalassa for what feels like time immemorial and yet, it never fails to surprise me how she creates the worlds that she has written, envisions the stories that she has shared and evokes from her readers the emotions, that she intends…and Bedeviled was no different for me.

You’re finally seeing, on page, the peace you have envisioned for these characters for so many years and it’s a painful ache in your heart; at the same time you’re seeing them leave and move on to have experiences that you’ll never witness and it’s a hard truth to face. However—as a third side to this imaginary coin—you also know this means the author has made space for something altogether new and exciting that will soon be a part of the stories you love.
I think reading tastes are shaped and refined over time; however the first few books/authors that helped form our tastes and preferences in reading will always be special to us. For me, Thalassa was one of those authors. She helped drag me into the genre of wickedly delightful fantasies and I never left. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, no one does an anti-hero better than Thalassa. If you’re looking for a good time, a great read with humour, wickedness and of course romance, Thalassa is the way to go.
Circling back to the review portion of this post: I’ve always wondered when I read a series wherein there are connections across books, if the author had planned it all along, or wrote it into the story as they went. Either way, they depict a level of skill and honed technique, in both, the writing and the ability to plan and execute flawlessly. I think every single work of Thalassa’s establishes her prowess and speaks for itself; and this series is no different. I will say the author never shies away from heavy themes (so please check trigger warnings) and always leans into how much they can impact the lives of the MCs and actively tear into the hearts of her readers. But if there’s one thing I would never worry about, it’s that Thalassa will always do right by us in the end. It doesn’t matter how many times she breaks our hearts, she’ll always mend it well before she leaves. Then, of course, she’ll write a new series and do it all again; but by that point you’ve actively signed up for the pain and won’t even mind the devastation.
There was something about this series that reached out and touched my soul. Though it may not immediately seem like it, in my opinion, this was a story about vulnerability and trust in many, many ways. The narrative shapes these two themes in alternating braids through its storytelling and the tale builds from shattered ashes and pain into something beautiful and lasting. Though, in all honesty, I feel there are interconnected worlds she’s building that we are yet to fully see. Ask me in a decade, so I can say “I was right!” That and “I told you so,” of course.
The plot in this series is so interesting because each book follows an important plot point that feel unique and whole in itself. However, they also serve a larger plot purpose and link all the four books together. This last book serves as the final piece that snaps the whole puzzle into place and you make connections across all books and realize the horror and abject injustice that is wrecked over the course of this series by the hands of the greedy. In all honesty, how’s this different from today’s society? One person’s greed and corruption has far reaching consequences; as it trickles down to the very roots of the people’s lives, affecting and infecting them with the poison of that one person’s inability to be a decent human being. You can feel all the fury, feminine rage, betrayal and the desperate war for peace coating every line of this series—and this builds until the final chapter.

Honestly, by book three the world has been established, built and reinforced. That doesn’t stop Thalassa from adding some layers of complexity and depth to her world anyway. She draws some interesting elements from her others series and drags and drops it into this one at the perfect moment. The reveal was gorgeous, as always. I’m truly curious to see what else Thalassa is going to create and if there will be more parallels drawn across her different series. As always, I can’t wait.

Finished this one in a day but had to sit with it for a bit.
There were a couple things that bothered me.
Also, this one was the heaviest in smut so far but it makes sense.
Certain creative choices were questionable, but I was already too attached and too involved with this story to dislike it.
But man, why would you name him Rome when Roman is an option 😬👀😂
Now I need to spend more time with the Bargainer cause that man is not only powerful but he is funny. I cackled multiple times because of his remarks.
All in all, I really enjoyed the series, I laughed, I cried, I was worried about Nero🐈⬛all the time and now I'm on the hunt to find something that would give me similar feelings of yearning and longing 🔥❤️

I was really looking forward to the final book in this series, especially because I had loved Memnon throughout the previous books. Unfortunately, this finale ended up being a pretty big disappointment.
The first half felt like there was very little happening plot-wise. Aside from the spice scenes and Selene communicating back and forth with Memnon through their bond, the story mostly consisted of them half-heartedly chasing Eislyn, killing demons, getting found by Eislyn, and then chasing her again. Rinse and repeat.
For a finale, I expected the plot to feel much more substantial with a stronger sense of urgency and a major payoff. Instead, it often felt like filler, which is especially frustrating when this is the book meant to bring the whole story to a close. There wasn't really a major peak or payoff that made the slow pacing feel worthwhile. Not to me, at least.
I still loved Memnon and enjoyed the world enough to finish the series, but this final installment was unfortunately a drag and left me feeling pretty underwhelmed. It's a shame, because I had been so excited to see how everything would come together.

I have read so many books over the years and I have enjoyed many of them, but there are only a few series that I absolutely love and would recommend to people every time. Those kinds of series that come into your mind when you hear someone ask about a really good book, the series that never leave your head, the series that you’re excited to reread even though you know every little detail about them already. When I picked up the first book a little more than a year ago, I didn’t know what to except, but it didn’t disappoint me in the slightest. I fell in love with the world, with the characters (although I was still slowly learning to trust Memnon), with the captivating story. I couldn’t get it out of my head and picked up the second book right away, not knowing this series wasn’t finished. The second book was just as good! The prequel was the cherry on top. 🍒
I waited patiently for a year and I finally got the chance to read Bedeviled, the last book in the series. I am not exactly the most patient person, but I have to say that the wait was absolutely worth it! I enjoyed everything in this book, I loved where the story was developing, the details of it, how the characters developed 🙏🏻
Selene was wonderful and I was so grateful I could experience her story with her. She wasn’t boring, she wasn’t basic or plain, I loved the way Laura has written her because she truly did her justice! A female character done well. As for Memnon? Definitely one of my favorite book husbands! The way they loved each other openly in this book deserves an award. Genuinely. It was also nice to see Desmond included in the book, but I wish we got some glimpses of Callypso as well!
Eislyn was written incredibly well. She was creeping in the background of every book, growing the hatred inside of me. I think her story was closed off well and that it was satisfying even though I ended up feeling a little sorry for her (I’m stupid). She was portrayed well, her plans, her thinking. I enjoyed reading through her, Memnon’s and Selene’s story and wondering how it will end!
The epilogue was just as satisfying and great as the whole book. A wonderful wrap to the story even when it was expected, I was very happy it ended this way ❤️
I’m so sad I have to say goodbye to this series, but it has been an absolutely blast. I will definitely reread again because I will miss this world so much.

July 25, 2025I'm so excited for this, ya'll!!! The Bewitched series is the first series I willingly started knowing it wasn't complete. I'm obsessed and unwell in the best way possible. I'm constantly looking for other reads that give me the same vibes this series does. Memnon is, without a doubt, my fav MMC right now- I love a man OBSESSED! It's somewhat painful having to wait for the final book, but it's also exciting to be a part of Laura Thalassa's eager fan groups; I've added myself to every Facebook page and social media group chat in existence while patiently waiting for book 3! I dream about this series for crying out loud!

I was so so excited for this finale to the series. I enjoyed the first two books but absolutely loved the prequel that was Roman era Roxi and Memnon’s story. However, this book just completely missed the mark.
The first 250 pages were pure fluff and no plot with wedding shopping, wedding ceremony, new house tours, and visits to work. Intermingled with this, we get inner monologue from Selene knowing she’s in love with Memnon but now she wants to keep denying it or saying sorry to her feminism for sleeping with him??
Also the amount of times she says “maybe I’m just anthropomorphizing my panther”…. Just felt like that never needed to be written.
The parents just felt like a plot point that really didn’t fit. I thought it was weird that at one point, she called her father (Benjamin Bowers) “Benny boy.” Seemed an odd way to refer to Dad. Overall, some of the banter felt oddly immature or childish.
I did, however, find the father in law and son in law dynamic between Memnon and Dad very sweet and endearing.
Throughout the entire series I can’t count how many times Selene gets attacked in the woods only for Memnon to tell her “hold on I’m coming.” I think it happened 4-5 times in this book alone. It’s the only type of action that ever really happens. Selene and her familiar are constantly being gravely injured and falling unconscious only to be revived later by Memnon when he finally arrives… late…
Would have maybe been cool to get some POV’s from Memnon to figure out what he was up to sometimes?
I really disliked that Memnon kept being called or referred to as a billionaire sugar daddy. It just felt so off from the nature of who his character really truly is, an ancient warlord sorcerer and conqueror. I thought we were going to get to see Memnon build a modern day empire from the Fortuna enterprise but nothing ever came from that. He never rebuilt his retinue or amassed any new followers as a leader in the modern world.
This book took away who Memnon was apart from his love for Selene/Roxi. He’s not even a sorcerer anymore by the end of the book, just a “boring old mage.”
It was also mentioned in the book that Leonardo Fortuna survived and was never caught. Wouldn’t that contest Memnon’s right to the Fortuna empire? That loose end was never tied up.
I was curious to see what happens when Memnon finally snaps due to the deterioration of his conscience but nothing significant ever really occurred. He only seemed to freeze opponents when he lost control and then would quickly be stopped. It was hard to tell if he was truly becoming more “evil.”
Memnon’s curse was then lifted by Selene but we never find out who or how he was cursed in the first place. I know in the prequel, his father mentions they come from a long cursed line. I figured it was Eislyn behind the curse when we find out that she’s been selectively breeding lineages for millennia but nothing was ever confirmed on that point.
After learning what a formidable and conniving foe Eislyn was from the prequel, I was ready for the showdown. However, the main plan they come up with to defeat Eislyn is to call upon someone from a random business card Memnon found in his office…
I understand this character (The Bargainer) was a crossover from another series (which I have not read), but he really doesn’t truly help with what they ask for, i.e. stealing a scroll and/or killing Eislyn. Incorporating him into the plot just felt a little forced.
We also really don’t get much interaction with Eislyn until the last 20% where she easily captures Memnon, yet again. It’s like they still never took her as a threat seriously and were just busy banging the whole time.
Due to how protective Memnon is, I was also surprised he wasn’t more deeply concerned about the problem that occurred with their bond when they lost the ability to speak to each other mind to mind. It just seemed like they accepted it without trying to fix it.
In the end, Eislyn was given to the Hungering Ones where she maybe also gets an opportunity to be reborn again just like Selene was? Who knows. As far as punishing deaths go, it was pretty lackluster.
Overall, I’m so torn because I truly do love Memnon and Roxi/Selene’s characters but this ending to their story was sadly disappointing.

This series may have ruined me for all other series this year. It's one of those series that you will be comparing to every other series after it that you read and comparing it to see if it even remotely measures up. To say the list, this will probably be my top read for 2026.
Minor Spoilers Ahead:
Selene Bowers has now admitted her feelings for Memnon that have been growing since she learned he was her soul mate. However, now that she has admitted to her feelings for him, she now has to complete the bargain she made and get married to him ASAP.
Memnon continues to be completely devoted and head over heals in love with Selene/Roxi, and his ability to protector her is put to the test immediately.
Eislyn, the fallen Fae princess, has come back into Selene and Memnon's lives and is still as despicable and nasty as she was 2,000 years ago.
Memnon and Selene have to find a way to finally stop the despicable Fae princess before she enslaves Memnon or kills Selene.
The bond between Selene and Memnon is one of the best that I've ever read, and the multi-layered plot was amazingly fun to read. Highly recommend this series to EVERYONE.

i cannot believe this trilogy is completed now. i've missed all of the characters so much and we reunited once more for a last ride.
Memnon's character arc was so beautifully written and seeing him from a different angle was so perfect. he's devoted as always but his soft side is so precious to me. Celine embraced her past and present selves in the most cathartic way in this book (i'm highly satisfied). Nero is my spirit animal and i wish we had more scenes showing him and their bond.
the yearning in this book went to ANOTHER level. i like how it shifted from 'bewitched' to 'bedeviled' in an organic way, so he could grow on us as well.
i'm so happy this fae princess got what she deserved. and THIS EPILOGUE!!! guys... i'm in tears (happy ones, though!)
i'm so excited to see more of Laura Thalassa's stories in the future <3

This was a very nice ending to the series. It wasn't my favorite book of the series it felt like it took way too long to get to the point, and then wrapped up kind of... anticlimactic-ly.
But after the first two books and challenges they went through they certainly deserved their time together in the first half of the book.
There's a bit too much "the feminist in me" comments. Enough to where i actually wrote this down in my notes app.
But, the best part of the book!!! YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!! BARGAINER CROSSOVER!!!!! I've been thinking about that series a lot while listening to this book - what a DELIGHTFUL surprise!!! 🎉

al principio del libro como que no pasa nada, pero del 45% pa lante como que es una tras otra tras otra.
y hay decisiones muy estúpidas tomadas por la prota que es como: SIS, POR QUÉ
Memnon, te sigo amando.
No es del todo necesario, pero recomendaría leer la saga the bargainer previamente, al menos hasta el segundo libro. Porque aparece cierto personaje... y hay cosas que se comprenden mejor tras la info de ese libro.
Otra saga terminada en 2026: ole ole y ole
