Justice Team #3

Exposing Justice

Rate this book
As a Public Information officer for the US Supreme Court, Hope Denby knows how to spin a story. A journalist at heart, she loves being in the middle of a juicy scoop and has her sights set on future Press Secretary for the White House. When the Supreme Court Chief Justice is accidentally killed in a road rage accident, and a high-profile conspiracy blogger claims it was premeditated murder, Hope has to shut down the paranoid blogger—which should be a slam dunk until she discovers he’s not as crazy as she thought and she has more in common with the secretive, hard-hitting investigator then she’d like to admit.

Cyber resistance against government corruption isn’t just a theory for Brice Brennan on his blog, The First Amendment Patriot. As a former ATF agent who blew the whistle on his superiors, he’s no stranger to government cover-ups and scandals. An anonymous tip on the Chief Justice’s death sends him searching for answers. What he finds is a sexy, young idealist about to blow his private, behind-the-scenes world to pieces.

Brice and Hope couldn’t be more opposite, but exposing justice makes them partners—and puts them on the track of a ruthless killer. As their investigation takes them into the dark underbelly of Washington politics and murder-for-hire, it also takes them into the bedroom where passion erupts and emotional walls crumble. But when the killer makes an attempt on Hope’s life, will Brice be able to keep her safe? Or will blowing the whistle on corruption and greed mean losing the one person he’s allowed himself to love?

Sometimes a book just works, and Exposing Justice does just that. There was romance, there was suspense, there was a fabulous story line, and I can’t say enough about the characters that these two authors have created.

I absolutely loved Brice. He’s the perfect mix of alpha male and sexy cyber-nerd, with a dose of action hero thrown in. I loved his wit and sarcasm, especially when it came to dealing with Mitch. It’s easy to see why he prefers working alone and why he tries to keep a low profile, so it was also great seeing him let Hope in to his life and also his blogging world.

I really liked Hope’s character as well, and I found the balance between her youth and inexperience and her recognition of knowing when she’s in over her head and needing help quite refreshing. I liked watching her character mature as the story progressed, adding a dose of reality and experience to her orderly world, and ultimately forcing her to reevaluate her life plan to follow her passion. Hope has always been the positive optimist who always puts a positive spin on everything…which I would normally find totally annoying, but again, that maturity her character goes through as the story unfolds makes me like her even more.

Brice and Hope together were a perfect fit – even though on the surface it looked like they were polar opposites. There was an age difference, Brice is 35 and Hope is 24, but that difference really worked for the two of them. Brice’s jaded outlook and general distrust in the government is certainly warranted, but it was wonderful watching Hope’s optimism and need to see the positive in things have an effect on Brice. And Brice gave Hope that dose of reality she needed to see that sometimes not everyone is as trustworthy as they seem. And although the romance started slow, when these two finally come together it’s hard for them to keep their hands to themselves, which leads to some very hot and steamy times, and I loved that there was often humor thrown in.

“Are you talking to me or the laptop?” Hope watched the screen, laying her head on his shoulder. “I have issues with being called ‘baby.’”

The software sped along, latching onto the network and spinning through a decryption algorithm. “That’s because you’re young and I’ve thrown it in your face time after time.”

“I know. It’s one of your defense mechanisms.”

He had defense mechanisms she didn’t have a clue about. “Well, just so you know, I was talking to the laptop, not you, so don’t throw a hissy.”

“A hissy? You haven’t seen me throw a hissy. Trust me.”

She pinched his leg and he jerked it away, chuckling as he nearly bobbled the laptop. “Hope…trying to work here.”

She shifted her face to plant light kisses along his neckline. Her right hand latched onto his thigh and stroked down and in. “I’m just trying to help,” she said in that innocent voice that wasn’t innocent at all. It was the sexy voice he’d learned meant only one thing.

Hope Denby wanted to be fucked.

Again.

She was a nympho. A total freakin’ nymphomaniac.

How had he gotten so lucky?

The plot was well developed and had enough twists and turns to keep things interesting. It was fast paced, but didn’t rush through the story so it was easy to understand the twists, turns, and intricacies of the plot. I loved the way the Justice Team members (Mitch, Caroline, Teeg, Grey, and Sydney) were woven in to the story, and I am intrigued with Tony Gerard and can’t wait to see what becomes of his character. This book is part of a series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone, but I guarantee that you’ll want to go back and read the other books to find out more about the Justice League.

The writing team of Misty Evans and Adrienne Giordano delivers a story with such an easy flow that it makes you wonder how two voices can come together so seamlessly. The dialogue between the characters and continuity of the story line was perfectly orchestrated to deliver a five star read.

This book delivers everything you would want in a romantic suspense and then some. I highly recommend this read and can’t wait to see what comes next!

I was given a copy of this book from the authors for an honest review but have also purchased this book.

Exposing Justice was a rare 5 star read for me! I loved it!

In a world of political corruption and danger, two people unexpectedly find each other. They start off with different goals, but soon they are working together...in more ways than one. I really enjoyed Hope and Brice, they are powerful characters who I'd love to know in real life. The connection these two develop is palpable and real. I felt like I was right there with them sometimes. I loved the dialogue between them, the slow build of trust, and the slow opening of their hearts. They are both open, honest, and there is a refreshing lack of angst between these two mature characters. As these characters and their relationship grow and develop, I liked the passion they share not only for each other but for the work they do. The passion between them is there and very real, and I liked how it was part of the story, but not the whole story which helped make Exposing Justice realistic.

There is a high entertainment factor in Exposing Justice but there is also a very serious edge and Misty and Adrienne write a plot of political corruption believably. The who done it and why kept me guessing. It felt real and like something that could really happen. The danger and the unknown work well with the romance, helping bring the characters together. This might bring them together, but it's not what's going to keep them together...that is up to Hope and Brice.

The secondary characters all work to bring the plot together without detracting from Hope and Brice, and I liked seeing characters from previous Justice Team books. Having said that, I do feel that Exposing Justice can easily be read as a stand alone.

Exposing Justice was a book I didn't want to end because I loved the characters so much! I hope to see glimpses of them again in future Justice Team books. I'd highly recommend Exposing Justice to any romantic suspense reader.

The book grabs the reader from the opening scene – A Supreme Court Chief Justice dying from a gunshot wound sustained from what appears to be a random road rage incident. When reclusive blogger Brice “Hawkeye” Brennan and perky, ambitious Hope Denby from the Supreme Court Public Information Office team up to solve the mystery, sparks fly. So do insults, barbs and lots of sexual innuendo, thanks in part to Hope’s sexually repressed inner voice, the hysterically inappropriate Hormona, who makes her desires known in wildly salacious detail.
The writing is clever, and the story fast-paced, with complex layers as Evans and Giordano deftly weave existing characters from previous Justice Team stories into the plot. Readers of other Justice Team books will see some familiar faces seamlessly integrated just enough to keep it interesting, but not so much that it overshadows the dynamic chemistry of Hawkeye and Hope. As this duo gets closer to the truth, and each other, the danger ramps up, passions heat up, and Hormona just might get her wish!
One thing I particularly enjoyed about this book was how much Hawkeye and Hope each learned about themselves as they stepped outside of their respective comfort zones and had to put their trust in someone else. Naïve Hope distrusts bloggers, and cynical Brice distrusts, well, everyone, but they set aside their mutual suspicion to ferret out the truth behind the Chief Justice’s assassination. The villains are not Middle Eastern terrorists, or space aliens, but something a little more close to home (in the interest of preserving the suspense, I won’t divulge anything further). Suffice it to say the authors do a terrific job of tying up the loose ends, while at the same time introducing some potential fresh talent for the next book in the series. Another fun collaboration that leaves the reader wanting more.

Brice Brennan is a patriotic blogger and former ATF agent. After his career went sour and he was betrayed by those closest to him, Brice began blogging and exposing the truth about the government.

Hope Denby is a Public Information Officer and a journalist at heart. When a Chief Justice is murdered, Hope has no choice but to trust blogger Hawkeye in order to get to the truth and stay safe.

Together Brice and Hope have a better chance than alone but the sexual tension is thick. Can these two make it out of this situation without landing themselves in bed?

Exposing Justice is book three of The Justice Team series and the Giordano/Evans writing duo once again blew me away with this romantic suspense. I loved both Brice and Hope's characters and how different they were yet similar in their passions and wanting to find out the truth. The sexual tension and chemistry is definitely there but I love that the case comes first. The romance is of course juicy, but the suspense is what I live for in these books and Evans and Giordano sure know how to keep a girl on the edge of her seat.

Suspenseful, exhilarating, and intense, Exposing Justice was the perfect weekend read. I was on pins and needles wondered who did it, would Brice and Hope make it out safe and of course the big question: would Brixs and Hope tear down that imaginary line and go there already. Not wanting to give anything away, I suggest you read this book to find out these answers on your own ;)

I loved this book and if you love romantic suspense books as much as I do, I guarantee you this is your next five star read!

Exposing Justice by Misty Evans and Adrienne Giordano is the fourth book in their Justice Team series. This is a standalone book but we are also treated to glimpses of characters from the past Justice Team books.

From the prologue I was glued to the story line. The Chief Supreme Court Justice of the United States is murdered and Hope Denby, a Public Information Officer for the U.S. Supreme Court is charged with diffusing a potential story by blogger Brice Brennan. Immediately, these two are pulled into one another’s circle and eventually find themselves being hunted by those that were behind murdering the Chief Justice.

Ms. Evans and Ms. Giordano have once again written a fabulous novel. I enjoyed the interaction between Hope and Brice as they got to know one another. Take an almost reclusive in nature blogger and mix him with an over the top happy personality and you have a winner. Ms. Evans and Ms. Giordano’s writing styles are so similar that the reader can’t determine who has written a particular scene in the book. I find that fascinating that they can mix their styles so well.

I highly recommend Exposing Justice and look forward to reading the next installment in their series. I’d like to disclose that I receive an advance copy of Exposing Justice in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Exposing Justice is the first book in this series for me to read. So while it is really the third book in the series it reads very well as a stand-alone. What’s more Adrienne Giordano and Misty Evans start this story out with a bang and it never slows down. While political conspiracies are usually my suspense of choice, these two have sold me on this series.

Investigating conspiracies, bloggers, political corrupt – all of this could be right off the front page. What Adrienne Giordano and Misty Evans have done is flesh out the players, made me care about them and root for the good guys to win. I appreciated that the entire Justice Team joins in to help the non-team player Brice. The camaraderie and teasing among the Team member raise an interesting read to a great read.

They have given us such well-written with the plot smoothly flowing with interesting complex characters. I love Brice’s often sardonic comments. I see Billy Crystal as him every time they just roll off his tongue. I also knew Hope had no hope in spite of her name of getting rid of Brice.

Honestly, the twists and turns began in the first chapter when I really thought that this would be Tony Gerard’s story. While I loved this one with Brice and Hope, I do hope that Tony gets one with love along with justice in the future.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, murder, suspense, pain, secrets, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Stealing Justice (Justice Team, #1)
Cheating Justice (Justice Team, #2)
Holiday Justice (Justice Team, #3)

This is Hope and Brice’s story. Brice is a former ATF agent turned blogger. He wants to expose the truth. Hope is a Public Information Officer. She is supposed to shut down a story. She finds herself putting her trust into Brice. Can he help her investigate the truth? Can he help and keep her safe at the same time? The attraction is scorching between these two. But they need to keep the case first. If they don’t solve the case they could both end up dead. Can the hunted become the hunters and take down the enemy? Can they really work together and solve the case that everyone thinks is only a road rage accident? Will the truth come out in the end?

I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from these authors.

I loved this combinations of opposites, Hope is the perfect antidote to Brice’s well-earned cynicism. As always the dynamic writing duo of Evans and Giordano not only write characters with whom I become emotionally invested, they mysteries they create mysteries that grab me by the throat and drag me into the story almost from the first page. While some awesome mysteries take time to build and this one is laid out in a complex path through the story, the prologue did its job in building a inviting pool of excitement and emotion that had me ready to dive in and follow the leads along with our hot, hot, hot couple.

As a Public Information Service assistant for the Supreme Court Hope and the people she works with are stunned and lost with the limited amount of information available on the accidental death of a Supreme Court Justice. Her boss is in meetings all day and is unavailable when a call comes in that hints that the death was in fact not an accident.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I honestly love it!

To start I'd like to say I really like the prior 3 books in the Justice Team Series. They all have romance, suspense and humor. Exposing Justice fits right in as it too has those qualities as well.

The story starts with a Supreme Court Chief Justice's death. Brice Brennan, a cynical ex-ATF agent who now runs an blog to out the injustices of the world, gets a tip that the death was more than just an accident. In walks the perky, rose color glasses US Supreme Court public information officer, Hope Denby, who is out to stop Brennan from blogging about the incident. Their outlook on life certainly clashes but there is definitely a romantic spark between the two work-a-holics.

Brennan and Hope are convinced there is more to the Chief Justice's death and begin their own investigation. The suspense and humor continues as they chase down leads, hide from possible hit-men and try to get the scoop on the story. The book is very well written and kept this reader glued to the pages.

2 Thumbs Up!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. I give this book 4.5 stars, so I'm rounding it up to 5 stars. I was hooked from the very first page. I wondered about the shooting incident and its relevance to the story, which was revealed in time, but kept me guessing. I met a new character in the series, Hope Denby, a naive, upbeat woman, and revisited a somewhat familiar character, Brice Brennan, a reclusive blogger, who was introduced in an earlier book in the series. Opposites attract, as Hope has a keen professional dislike for bloggers, and Brice is a realist, not always looking for the upside of things. Once Hope and Brice team up, the Justice Team appears, to recruit Brice to their cause and to provide assistance with investigating the suspicious shooting. As details unravel and more questions are asked, Hope and Brice go into hiding with The Justice Teams help. As their romance heats up, so does the investigation, and soon, the complexities of the case unravel, leading Hope and Brice to the murderous plotters.

I love a good conspiracy story that includes danger, romance and edge of your seat action. The writing team of Adrienne Giordano and Misty Evans know how to mingle the pieces together like no one else. This books is 3rd in a great series but can definitely be enjoyed as a stand alone. But be warned, I think you will want to go back and read the first 2 books in the series.

This is a modern day intrigue that you could find in your morning news. When a Supreme Court Judge is killed, it's blames on road rage, until our hero, Hawkeye, and heroine, Hope, discover there may be more than expected to his death. Forced to work together (to get the information they need) they are lead on a dangerous trail of a billion dollar heart medicine, cover up, and danger. Somewhere along the way, Hope and Hawkeye learn to respect each others talents. They can trust each other with their lives, but can they trust each other with their hearts? Will they live long enough to find out? I really loved reading this book and think you will too.

This series continues to gain momentum as Brice's love story is featured. Brice, introduced in Mitch and Caroline's story, is a former ATF agent turned powerful conspiracy blogger. When he receives a tip that the tragic accidental highway death of a Supreme Court Justice is actually murder, he finds himself talking to fresh Hope Denby at the Public Information Office. They strike a deal - Hope will investigate his suspicions for a period of time before he writes anything.

Hope, at more than a decade younger than "Hawkeye" Brice, is the perfect foil in this book for his brooding cynicism. As the two uncover the setup for the murder, the clever plot is frighteningly possible. Readers will find themselves questioning lots of things the same way Brice does!

Giordano and Evans continue to provide smart characters, excellent dialogue, and a great blend of sex and romance that is not too explicit yet still steams up pages.

Another winner by the fantastic writing team of Misty Evans and Adrienne Giordano. Both of these ladies are very talented writers independently, but together they have created the captivating Justice Team series.

This novel introduces us to Hope, a public information officer for the supreme court. Her job forces her to interact with Brice (Hawk), a blogger with a chip on his shoulder. What follows is a totally engaging romantic suspense novel. Once I started reading it, I just could not put it down. If you are looking for a great read, then you have found it here.

This is the third full book in the series.

The heroine is an officer for the Supreme Court who has always wanted to be a journalist and she’s always in the middle of things. When the chief justice is killed and a blogger claims it was something else, she’s put on the task of taking care of it.

Our hero is a blogger who writes to keep the government honest. He also helps out a secret group if he can and now they want him on their team, but he’s busy enough finding and running with leads for his blog posts. Now he has the heroine who keeps putting herself in harm’s way and he can’t have her getting hurt either.

The plot is original and usually authors don’t go for a Supreme Court angle which was great. I loved how the different angles keep you guessing and reading. The heroine and hero are so different to each other you didn’t know where they’d go to next. The heroine is a bit naïve for Washington, but boy does she grow up in a hurry! The hero also gets less cynical in his feelings as well.

Add the secure group into the mix and them wanting him in their group and helping them, this was an area I didn’t think the author would go as usually the storylines mention it but it’s rare for them to enforce the helping each other demand.

This is the 3 from this series, you really don’t know who the author will write about in the next book.

This time it is blogger/former ATF agent, Brice (Hawkeye/Hawk) that takes center stage in this story of corruption that results in the murder of a Supreme Court Justice. After getting to know Hawkeye from Book 2, I had a hard time picturing him playing the lead, but once the young, energetic, and idealist Hope comes into his life, things will never be the same. It takes a Blogger, an investigative journalist, the Justice Team, a hacker, a Supreme Court Police Officer, an informant, a drone, and a sickle to bring take the people responsible for the assassination of Chief Justice Turner. For me, the author displayed more balance between the suspense and the romance than previous books in this Series. I was equally interested in the detective work, as I was invested in Brice and Hope’s relationship. Who knew Brice could be be so sexy, even without a cowboy hat and boots! I am looking forward to reading Tony’s story next, as he seems like the “complete package”.

I do enjoy the storylines in all of the Justice Team books but I found the romance very corny/cutesy - with the “ovaries twitching” etc. in this book. It just falls flat for me. I’m glad in later books these two authors get back to the non corny descriptions of adult romance.

I honestly LOVE this series. Each time a new book comes out, I think now this hero and heroine is my favorite! and then another book is added to the series and the list shifts again...

I liked Brice the blogger in the last novel, Cheating Justice when he played the reluctant sidekick/foil to Mitch and Caroline; in his own book, though, he totally brings it. He's still reluctant--hiding behind blackout curtains in his home, going by the alias Hawkeye, not wanting to get close to or trust anyone--not the members of the Justice Team, and certainly not the overly-enthusiastic, much-too-naive Hope Denby of the Supreme Court's Public Information Office. But he's gotten a tip that the accidental death of the Chief Justice might not be an accident, and like it or not, he's gotten Hope's attention--and her help.

And the Justice Team's pulling an assist, darn their Superhero-like souls.

Brice and Hope make a fantastic team--I loved that they started calling each other Bernstein and Woodward (but found it really sad that who those guys are had to be explained--surely that's not a sign that I'm getting old, right? Just knowledgeable about U.S. history?) They also pull into their investigative team a guy who will surely be a future Justice Team hero, Anthony Gerard, the slain justice's bodyguard.

An excellent choice, since his investigative skills are stellar, he knows how to handle a gun, and he will obviously make a fantastic hero.

Which is crucial, because I need this series to continue for a loooong time. ;)

Exposing Justice, the third full-length book in the series (there is a holiday novella before it), would work okay as a standalone if you haven't yet read the rest of the series. You'll love the relationships between all the team members you'll see here, though, so I can guarantee you won't want to stop with just one.

Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A

I didn’t realize Exposing Justice was the third book in the series, let alone there being a series, until after I got my hands on it. The authors write this story so well you don’t feel like you are missing part of something, like some series do by building off of each other and assuming you have read the previous books in order to know the history of the story line so you won’t be lost. Exposing Justice is a great standalone book, but will leave you wanting to read the others.

This story is about Hope Denby and Hawkeye (aka Brice Brennan), an investigative reporter at heart and a blogger (who actually checks facts before posting his stories), who are thrust upon each other by the death of Chief Justice Turner. Hawkeye gets a tip that the Chief Justice’s death was more than what it seemed to be and makes inquiries into the Public Information Office of the U.S. Supreme Court, where Hope gets assigned to dealing with the blogger. Hope is fearful that Hawkeye will publish anything just because he is a blogger and since the higher-ups are not available she tracks down any lead she is able to so the blogger won’t cause a riot with unsubstantiated information. Her investigation put cross-hairs on her and Hawkeye and they have to team-up to solve the mystery surrounding the Chief Justice’s death otherwise their lives just may be next.

Exposing Justice is an exciting, mysterious, fast paced on the edge of your seat entertaining and just plain amazing story! I highly recommend this book!

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is the third book in the Justice series. I loved this book, but then I love all the books in this series. This one is about Hope and Brice. Brice is an ex-ATF agent turned Blogger and Hope is employed by the Public information office of the U.S. Supreme Court.
Hope has absolutely no respect for bloggers, until she meets Brice and discovers just how legitimate he is. He does not make stuff up just to cause trouble, he deals in facts that he has carefully researched.
These two are thrown together after a Supreme Court Justice is shot in an apparent road rage confrontation, but Brice believes it was much more than a simple case of road rage. This story moves fast and like all the Justice Series books.
I love how in these books you really can not picture the male and female protagonists together but once they start interacting you realize just how well they meld together, they always make for a hot match full of passion, Hope and Brice are no exception to this trend.
Both are strong people as individuals put them together and you have an unbeatable team.
You really need to check this one out for yourself, if you love a good murder mystery, with a fast pace and some romance thrown into the action.

If your looking for a thrill a minute, Exposing Justice is the book for you. The death of Chief Justice Raymond Turner is the catalyst. Was he killed in a road rage incident or was it an assassination? Brice Brennan is a conspiracy theorist. He writes The Patriot Blog and exposes any cover-up under the name Hawkeye. When he meets Hope Denby who works at the Public Information Office of the Supreme Court, they start off as adversaries, but circumstances make them allies. I was hooked on this exhilarating adventure from the first page. Hawk is a powerful character. He knows how the government will hide the truth and willing sacrifice the innocent. He was a victim. On the other hand, Hope is the eternal optimist. She believes that truth and justice will triumph. Can these two work as a team to find what really happened to the Chief Justice? When Hope and Brice are together, their attraction leaps off the page. I enjoyed their snappy dialogue and their passionate response to each other. I loved the way the stood firm when their lives were on the line. This is a great addition to The Justice Team series. There are plenty of suspects. I was kept guessing until the very end. This is a wild ride that has the feel of reality.

Great Series!
This is a great series; this is the third book in The Justice Team series by Adrienne Giordano and Misty Evans. I love both author but them writing together is amazing. This book can be read as a standalone, but once you read one book you will want to go back and read the others. Hope Denby is a Public Information Officer for the US Supreme Court. When the Supreme Court Chief Justice is killed in a road rage accident, she hears rumors that his death might be a conspiracy which could prove premeditated murder. Hope believe if she can find the truth out then that will help her get a job as the Press Secretary for the White House. Brice Brennan is a former ATF agent who is running a blog that leaked the information about the conspiracy, but when Hope starts looking into the conspiracy he has no choice but to work with her to find out the truth. If you are looking for a great book with suspense and mystery, then you need to read this book.I can’t wait until the next book in this series comes out.
