To my Goodreads followers, an explanation may be due since this book and its premise could prove incomprehensible for them since the Blues and Capitals haven’t sniffed success this decade. So basically the Canes are a good hockey team and finally broke through after years of heartbreak in the ECF. This Canes team has basically been the first team in a while (some might say since the Blues in 2019) to bring home lord Stanley without a bona fide “superstar” and instead prioritizing depth and quality team play. This team’s relentless forecheck and tenacity quickly became their calling card under head coach Rod Brind’Amour and their failure to capture the cup had raised questions about whether you can win in June with this style of play. However the issue really was that Frederik “scheduled his wedding in June” Anderson was holding back the team. This team lost only 3 games in their entire run. Two of which were in overtime to the Vegas Golden Knights and one where the Canes were coming off a record-setting 14 days off in game 1 of the ECF. In conclusion, Sebastian Aho is elite, he is a cup champion, thank you New York for giving us Ke’Andre Miller, and lord Stanley resides in Raleigh.
