The Mind of J Krishnamurti is a must read for those who want to know the brilliant mind of J. Krishnamurti. Call him what you like, a philosopher, theosophist, psychologist, spiritualist or a teacher he has carved a place among the greats. The book contains a collection of commentaries, reviews and evaluations of his thoughts. It is a compendium perceived and understood by his many admirers among who were Aldous Huxley and Henry Miller.
Wonderful introduction to Krishnamurthi's life history and the fundamentals of his teachings.
Essays from various perspectives, plus the text of the speech, Dissolution of the Order of the Star.
What an amazing life! As Vas writes in the introduction, Krishnamurthi didn't help history at all to understand him, and even went to some effort to cover his tracks. The very act of wanting to learn about his life is, ironically, a manifestation of the exact sort of personality fascination and outward-facing spiritual learning he taught against.
No matter. This is a life I'm so enriched to know about and appreciate in the next century beyond his own. I'm so grateful we have some records of him.
All in all, this collection sets enough context on the bizarre nature of his upbringing - and the epic, now ridiculous, Blavatsky project - to want to learn more by other means. And most of what else is out there is harder to digest, given the nature of Krishnamurti's work. I'm glad I started here.
My third attempt to read JK’s philosophy after being fully confused the first 2 times. Have to say could understand much more and also appreciate his explanations and had many highlight worthy passages. Fascinating to go on a self introspection trail along with him. Still some of his thoughts are complex for me.. maybe another few years needed
