Constance Phillips has written a fairy story for adults that is totally grounded in the real world, with very believable bridges between the worlds of fairy and human. Her fairies have wants, needs, and internal power struggles, as well as prejudices and desires... similar in many ways to human characters, except for their magical powers, which they use to control situations, humans, and each other.

Monique is a fairy hiding in the human world from her brother Kieran, and his plans for her future. Those plans include an arranged marriage to a power-hungry fairy who already tried to force himself on her once. She wants a different life for herself, one of her own choosing. It's not that she rejects her fairy heritage as much as she wants to make her own choices - a concept that most of us can relate to.

She's been using her fairy influence to move from city to city and job to job, until she meets Daniel Elliot, a the only human she's ever met who's immune to her spells and charms. He's seemingly "fairyproof" which intrigues Monique, even as the attraction between them grows. Throw in the fact that her brother is constantly searching for her and other fairies are turning up dead in the human world, and there's a lot going on...

The author keeps up a fast pace as Monique tries to stay two steps ahead of her brother, Kieran tries to solve the mystery surrounding the fairy murders, the evil fairy Eeon tries to find and control Monique for his own power grab, and Daniel must come to terms with the fact that things in his world are not what they seem.

Ms. Phillips does an excellent job of weaving the storylines together to a satisfying conclusion. This is not a mystical or supernatural take on the fairy world, but has fairies that are much more "human" in nature, like the ones written by Charlaine Harris or Eoin Colfer. I enjoyed the book immensely, but at 262 pages it was over far too quickly. I hope there are more stories like this coming soon from this author!

I am clearly not on the same page as other reviewers of this book. It was all over the place. There are just too many characters to follow and not enough build to make you care about them. I usually enjoy a mixed narrative, but the multiple POV did not flow smoothly.

I really loved the concept, it just did not come through in my opinion. From the start the story drags, it takes a long time to get to the major plot points. By then I just could not care about the characters. Monique was not my kind of gal, while she was sassy, she tried to rest too much on her fairy sex power. Kieran, might care about his sister, but he seems to be more about his own interests. Daniel appears to be a nice guy, but he just did not excite me.

Unfortunately, I listened to the audiobook narrated by Kellie Kamryn, she just did not do it for me this book. She has a nice pace and decent voices. The major issue is the quality of the recording. There is a background noise that makes it sound like she is miles away for me the microphone. It makes it very difficult to enjoy this book.

The combination of poor production quality and slow story, made this a less than stellar read. I was so disappointed because the blurb and cover held such promise. Maybe this would have been a different review if I had read it instead of listening.

Disclosure – I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts opinions and ratings are my own.

A love story so epic, it spans different worlds.

Fairyproof opens with a clever concept--what happens when a fairy meets a human who doesn't yield to her charms?--and quickly evolves to a fast-paced, tension-filled story of a woman with everything to lose who risks her very way of life to be with the man she loves.

Ms. Phillips did an amazing job of keeping me on edge with the creative story twists, her world-building capabilities, and her talent of wrapping all of the elements around the tight cord of the burgeoning love between Daniel and Monique.

The first half captured me; the last half left me panting for more! I hope Fairyproof becomes a series because I didn't want to leave any of these characters behind!

I LOVED this book!

So this is really interesting, very fast paced read. It starts off with Monique, who has a few different aliases as she is trying to hide from her brother. You learn in the beginning, that she is a fairy. She has a few abilities, but tries not to use them, as magic can be tracked and monitored. The point of views come from Monique and her brother, Kieran, in the beginning, but Daniel gets a little lime light as well towards the middle and the end. Monique goes to work for Daniel, who is attracted to each other. AND THEN the secrets start to come out. MAN! This story had some secrets.

This is not your usual fairy tale story. They have governing bodies that are different- this is not fae, there is no king or queen, nor are their winter, summer courts. BUT there is a different world, or dimension, or something parallel, where the fairies live. I really enjoyed this story. The plots had me second guessing myself at every turn. The mysteries unfold beautifully. The characters, both good and bad, had me riveted. I was bad and stayed up way to late to finish this book, as I was to interested to see how things would play out.

I started off hating Kieran, and was totally on Monique’s side, at first. Now, I’m still on Monique’s side, but now I understand why Kieran made the choices he did. I was quite surprised at some of the turn abouts. I had some suspicions that were right, and some that were way off. So now, it’s up to you to read this story if you really wanna find out everything that happens. and I’m also hoping this story line continues, as I am definitely going to want to see what happens next. It’s not a cliff hanger ending. It gives you an ending that’s nicely played out, but there is an opening for it to continue, and I hope it does.

Monique has fled to the human world to escape an arranged marriage to a less-than-worthy fairy. Although tough, she manages to get by each day by taking various jobs and moving every couple of months all the while relying on her fairy power that allows her to manipulate humans. But when she meets Daniel, everything changes. I really enjoyed seeing this story develop and was pleasantly surprised with how all of the plot points ended up melding together into one. I had my suspicions of Daniel’s family but did not expect who the runaway fiancée was. It was a little difficult for me to get into the instant love between Daniel and Monique, and I honestly struggled with it up until the very end. But once Daniel’s family history was revealed, I was able to believe that there could be an innate attraction between the two within a very short amount of time. The character development was really well done, and I especially enjoyed Billy. Monique tended to be a little too whiny at times when it came to her jealousy over Veronica, but that was usually overshadowed by the rest of the great dialogue and character interactions. Constance has created a believable world that any urban fantasy fan would surely enjoy.

The Good:
I love fairies and think Constance did a wonderful job incorporating their mythology into the human world. Totally my cup of tea!

The Issue:
There seemed to be several instances when the POV would change mid-chapter. This threw me off and I was forced to re-read some sections in order to understand which character we were hearing from.

The Rating: 4 conch. Fast paced, great characters and an entertaining read.

Well, so, you guys know that I do not give a 5 star rating lightly, but in this case, I feel that it is well-deserved. I felt so sucked into this story that I just could not walk away and I had to know what was going to happen.

Monique, or Naomi as you know her at the beginning of the story, is so absolutely shocked that her powers are not working on Daniel that she has no idea what she is going to do. She has never had to rely on actual ability before without her Fairy powers and she is lost. But what she did not expect was that she would develop feelings for this man and have to make the most difficult choice of her life.

The characters were well thought out and so fully developed that you feel as though you actually know them and can imagine interacting with them. The story line is amazingly well written and there are no real hiccups in the plot line. It can be a little confusing while you get used to the shifting point of view a little bit. Some sections are Daniel and others are Monique, but once you adjust to that, it flows beautifully and I could not put this down. I felt as though I was as invested in what was going to happen as the characters were, and I felt the same shock and disbelief when the twist hit that the characters did.

I really feel that this is well worth the read and that any fan of fantasy and paranormal romance really should pick this one up. Fair warning, there is a little bit of adult language and while sex is not graphically related, it is alluded to. So, I would definitely say that this is not for the younger reader for that reason, but definitely worth the read otherwise!

I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Monique is a fairy on the run. Her brother is determined to marry her off to an odious and powerful fairy. She is not particularly powerful, but beautiful and stubborn and determined to hide in the human world.

Daniel Elliot is a successful businessman but has not been as successful in love. He is trying to get over the woman who loved him, left him, and took a family heirloom with her when she disappeared.

Monique will do anything to stay in the human realm away from the control freak her brother wants her to marry. She bluffs her way into a job as assistant to Daniel, and finds herself extremely attracted to him. For some reason, he is immune to her powers, making him even more attractive to her. She is determined to be professional, but needs to hide who she is for both his and her safety.

I really enjoyed this story. Monique is a bit out of her element in the business world, but determined to succeed and not let Daniel down. Her brother and his partner are determined to hunt her down and make her marry the detestable and treasonous, Eero, but she has found a friend in Billy, an exiled fairy, and is becoming more and more comfortable in the human world. The subplot of the planned coup and her brother’s part in it is worthy of a book of its own and enhances this story extremely well. I loved the author’s descriptions of both the human world and the fairy world, and Daniel will give the reader some excellent surprises.

Written For Confessions From Romaholics

Monique is on the run. She prefers to hide amongst the humans than live in the fairy land with Eero Teneyck, the faery her brother, Keiran, chose for her after the death of their parents. She should have the right to fall in love, but her brother is denying her that right because of his blindness. There are less than three hundred faeries and Keiran thinks Monique has a duty to marry and have lots of children. Not just that, but Eero is planning a revolution and in exchange for marrying Monique, he promised Keiran he will be safe in the future.

Monique is using the name Naomi Sanders when she applies for a job as an assistant. In the past, she used her magic to make sure she would be chosen; but her magic doesn’t affect Daniel Elliot. He seems to be immune to her spells.

Keiran lies to himself that he wants just the best for his sister; he sold her to Eero Teneyck. As a Protector and a Council member, he has the resources to make the search for her official. The disappearance of three faeries in two weeks and the strange behavior of Eero make Keiran realize Eero is not the faery he thought he was and that he might have something to do with all. However, he is still firm in his commitment to hand his sister over to Eero.

When you hear the word Fairy, most of us think tiny little creatures with wings. Which don't get me wrong I love them too, but these fairies are no TinkerBell and I couldn't be more excited.

Constance Phillips has opened the gate so to speak to a whole new realm where Fairies with mystical powers reside.

Monique is on the run hiding out in the human world from her brother Keiran that is trying to force her to marry not for love but for protection. Having to constantly keep moving due to her brother Keiran finding her, she needs to find a job quick due to she is running out of money. She decides to apply for a job that is completely opposite of her normal skills in hopes of throwing him off her trail. Monique can weld any human with her power to cast spells of attraction. How hard could it be to get a job you have no skills for. Simple right or is it?

Daniel is in need of a new assistant that can handle his work load as efficient as the assistant that is leaving. While interviewing Monique for this job, it appears on paper that she has no skills for the job and and concludes the interview. Monique is stunned that she is unable to in-thaw Daniel to get the position.

Has she been gone to long from the Fairy world that she is losing her powers? Is He the only human to be immune making him Fairy Proof? or Is there more than meets the eye?

This is a great start to this series. Can not wait to dive back into this fairy world with the next book.

Monique is on the run to avoid being forced to marry someone she has no interest in. Her brother is trying to track her down and bring her back. The story starts with Monique in a new city trying to get a position in Daniel's business. She is attempting to use her fairy charm to make him give her the position, but to her surprise and embarrassment it's not working. Monique has no experience or qualifications, but Daniel has a feeling about her and hires her anyway. Monique wants to know why her charm doesn't work on Daniel. She's never come across a situation where she couldn't charm a human. Meanwhile she is falling fast for Daniel and he for her. Will Monique be able to figure out why Daniel is resistant to her charm? Will her brother Kiernan find her before they can have a real relationship? Will she be able to keep the job she's been given with no prior experience? Read Fairyproof and find out.

Fairyproof is well written with clear, crisp language. The chapters are a good length with good pacing. The characters are well developed. I really like Monique, even though she initially tries to skate through human life by fairy mind control. I like Daniel too. I was not expecting the way the story ended. It's clever and well done and has the perfect amount of romance. If you love romance and faeries, this is the book for you. 18 and up.

This my first time reading one of Constance Phillip's book and the first time reading a book about fae.

Monique is on the run from the fairy world and living among the humans. She is running form her brother Keiran who is forcing her to marry someone she doesn't want,he wants to be able to chose who she loves - which is only fair right?
She has been on the run for six months and in the time her brother has almost caught her but she keeps managing to move on just in the nick of time, Using alias to get jobs she applies for a position where she tires her fairy magic only to discover it had no effect.

Daniel Elliot is intrigued with Monique and despite himself he finds himself wanting to hire her. Daniel is unlucky in love, his fiancé disappeared along with his grandpas ring and nothing had been seen or heard from her since. He has tried to find her but always draws a dead end.

The sub-plot that is also going on within the main storyline was rather good. I really enjoyed this story and after my initial thoughts of not connecting with Monique I warmed to her more as the story progresses.

This was a great read. I very quickly got drawn into the world of Fairies. From the first sentence the story moved very quickly. You immediately love both Daniel and Monique. This story is filled with secrets that you are dying to uncover. Not to mention the steamy scenes between Monique and Daniel…when it finally happens. At times you forget this is a paranormal romance. It is written very much centering on the romance more than the paranormal. But, just when you forget its paranormal then you are given a reminder like the fairies ability to manipulate the minds or the magic stones or even the transporting spells. Overall, I fell for the characters and the stories. This book definitely left me wanting more for the supporting characters. I can’t wait til Ms. Phillips finishes Kieran’s story and begins working on Leal and Veronica. Although…I would love to see Kieran and Leal. I just think they have a really good love/hate relationship. I definitely recommend this book. Ms. Phillips is a fantastic upcoming writer and I cannot wait to read more.

I loved this story; Monique is a strong character who refuses to let her brother plan out her life so she runs. Having to move all the time would be hard on anyone but when you’re trying to hide and your brother keeps finding you it’s another matter altogether.

That is until she meets Daniel Elliot who’s Immune to her a flirtatious smile and an attraction spell. His Ex one day just disappeared and took a family heirloom. With his mother driving him crazy he’s trying to find the ring. Then Monique walks into his office to apply for a job.
There’s an instant attraction between the two of them but can she save herself from her brother and stay alive long enough to find out what is between her and Daniel?

I loved this story, it keeps you on your toes because you never know when her brother or someone else will pop up and the action is great so is the romance. You really feel for Daniel and Monique. A fairy falling in love with a human and then poor Daniel is still hurt from his last relationship. Fairyproof is a wonderful read. I’d recommend it!

I was instantly hooked by the idea of Ms. Phillips’ book—a fairy who is used to getting humans to do her will by “bespelling” them meets a man who is immune to her spells, who is, as the title says, “fairyproof.” What will the fairy, Monique, do now? She needs the employment the impervious hero can provide, while she hides on earth from her overly protective brother and his determination to return her to the fairy world and to marriage to the very powerful Eero. Ms. Phillips weaves a highly entertaining story that asks and answers question upon question—why is the hero, Daniel, immune? why is Eero so determined to “bind” (fairy-speak for “wed”) with Monique? what happened between Eero and Monique that caused her to flee? In learning the answers to these questions, we come to understand the interconnections between the fairy world and the human world that Ms. Philiips so imaginatively conjures.

I really enjoyed this book. I love how we are not told why she ran away until later in the book. It adds mystery and suspense. I thought that Daniel was great. He was sweet and understanding. Another great thing about this book was that we got to see some parts from Monique, some from Daniel and some from Keiran. We got to see how each character looked to the other. Like we knew what was going on with Monique but when we saw her from Daniel's point of view, you would never know all the craziness in her life. We also got introduced to more characters this way. There is so much conflict within Monique. Right from the beginning you know that she doesn't want to lie about her name or who she is. She wants to talk to and trust her brother but doesn't feel like she can forgive him for what he did.

I found this a darling story. I laughed, I cried, I sighed in pleasure (and get your mind out of the gutter… I know it when there but this book is not like that). I wanted to root for Daniel and Monique. I wanted to reach into the story and throttle Keiran. And then I wanted to cry again.

This is a wonderful love story even without the paranormal component. The Faire aspect just adds dimension to the story. I found the story to be more than just a typical love story. The story had dimension and was multi-faceted.

I would wholly recommend this book to everyone. I give this book 5 out of 5 clouds.

Monique Saysin is hiding from her brother Keiran and his plans for her life. She wants nothing to do with his plans period. When Monique meets Daniel Eliot her whole world turns upside down and thensome. Daniel Eliot needs to hire a new personal assistant but can't deny his attraction to Monique as Naomi Sanders. He thought his heart was too broken to heal from his betrayal. Will Monique's world turn upside down more? Can Daniel trust Monique? Your answers await you in Fairyproof.

This fantasy series takes place in the modern world which is refreshing on so many levels. The characters and story suck you in from first page to last page. Definitely looking forward to reading more in this series.

I want to say Thank you to Constance Phillips for sending me a copy of Fairyproof to read and review. Now on to my review and I must say I love the story line. Also love the different point of views. You have Monique that is an fairy and on the run from her brother Keiran that is trying to run her life. So she hides in the human world but she uses the name Naomi. Then she meets Daniel that is Immune to her powers and can't seem to figure out why but of course she is falling for this guy big time. You will love Monique and Daniel!! Sorry I don't want to give too much away. So you have to get your copy of this book it was great.

Very unique and fast paced read! Phillips does a great job of creating a storyline that sinks its hooks into you and doesn't let go till the end. The characters are well formed, you become invested in them. The ending was not too surprising and was left with somewhat of an opening, so there could possibly be a sequel to this one... I would definitely read it!! I look forward to reading more from Constance Phillips!!

This was a really great book. I was instantly drawn into the story and it kept my attention throughout. I loved following the story of Monique and Daniel. My heart went out to Monique from the very beginning. But I found myself rooting for Monique and Daniel pretty quickly. I loved following their story. All the characters in the book were great.

The author has written in such a way that keeps your attention. I look forward to the next book in this series. I give this book 5***** all the way around. It was a great read and I definitely recommend it.

Fairyproof is a chance to escape the everyday and look at the human world through the eyes of a fairy. Monique is running from trouble in her world and looks to hide among humans living a day to day life. With her brother chasing her, she finds an ally in Daniel. The twists lead to adventures that surprise and delight. Great reading and I hope there are more to come. At first I did not like the brother, but now I hope there is another book to tell his story.

I really enjoyed this book. There were twists and turns. The characters were well developed. I find that the plot was unique. It was different then other fae books I've read. I almost felt like they were regular people. Daniel and Moni were great, I really would look forward to seeing more about the other characters though.. if the author is doing more!

The world created and the way the mythology keeps your attention and holds your interest made this an enjoyable read. The characters were likable and you could tell they were well thought out; however it took me a while to warm up to them.

Fairyproof is a sweet romance with an interesting view on fairies. If you are looking for action and romance with a different spin, this is a good read. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next.

This is the first book in The Realm's Salvation series. I have read multiple books from the author and once again she has written a good book. This book can be read as a standalone but the story is not complete so why stop without knowing what happens to Monique and Daniel?

Keiran Saysin wants his sister Monique to marry Eero who is a powerful fairy. She has no interest in marrying him especially after he tried to force himself on her twice. She flees into the human realm to hide. She wants to live a life of her own choosing. Not one forced on her by family or fairy tradition.  With her fairy powers hiding among the humans should be easy even if her brother is searching for her.

Daniel Elliot is a human whom Monique cannot influence with her powers. They fall in love. But can they find true happiness with secrets and family betrayal coming between them?

Not all is as it seems in both the human and fairy Realm's. Eero is power hungry as are other fairies and will do anything to attain more power. As Eero leads a revolution, no one is safe. Who can be trusted?

I really enjoyed this book and I think you will too! I look forward to reading more about these characters.

I had some trouble really getting into this one. It wasn't a bad read but I wasn't as enthralled with it. The storyline kind of lagged for me and was pretty predictable. But it was overall a sweet romance.

Monique was very likeable but I just didn't connect with her as much. She relied so much on her looks and when they didn't work for her it was like she was completely lost. I liked that she fought for herself and wasn't willing just to go with her brothers plans for her. Daniel was very sweet. But at times I just wished he'd make a move on Monique or something. He's a really nice guy but kind of lack luster.

It also changed points of view to Monique's brother Kieran who pretty much just came off as a jerk. There were circumstance's as to why he acted that way but I just couldn't feel empathy towards him. I just felt that the characters needed a bit more work and lacked depth.

It's an interesting and different take on fairies. But this one just wasn't very exciting for me.

When Monique runs away from her world after Euro, the man her brother promised her too, tries to bind them without her consent, she meets Daniel. Unfortunately, Daniel is immune to her fairy power, will this put Monique in danger? She needs the job as Daniel's assistant and without being able to sway him again, she turns to her friend Billy, a fairy that married a human. Daniel feels something with Monique on his own without any compulsion, and decides to hire her on the spot. The attraction between the two is undeniable and I loved seeing what they have grown as I continued reading the book. But with Daniel being human and Monique being fairy, will they be able to survive? Will Monique and her brother ever make amends and speak again on normal circumstances and not when he's trying to force her back to fairy world? Find out in this amazing book! I am so glad I discovered this author and can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Fairyproof is an interesting read. I enjoyed the conflict but feel that the characters are a bit flat. Monique is in a desperate situation but comes across as completely naive. Initially, I understand that but at this point she has been on the run for six months. There is nothing in her behavior that suggests she has learned anything. Daniel is fine, but there is nothing remarkable about him. I question the decisions of all the characters. It is clearly another situation where a bit of communication would solve a ton of problems. The most interesting character, Billy, another fairy living in the human world gets short shrift in the story.

This has got to be the worse UF attempt I've ever read. The main character was utterly annoying, selfish, and downright petty. The more she spoke or acted the more I wanted to slap her in the face. I think I spent more time rolling my eyes than finding this entertaining. Everything was so utterly predictable and so very repetitive. Overall...honestly a waste of my life.
