Naia Moray is an omegaverse author who specializes in MM romance. She lives somewhere in Asia and spends most of her time holed up at home, writing, crocheting, drawing, or picking up yet another hobby. All of these things are done in a way that could be described as "feverishly."
As a debut author, she is frankly thrilled to be receiving even a crumb of attention, so if you're reading this, thank you.

I’m obsessed with this series!! I’m just so fascinated by the “aliens needed to find a new planet so they landed on earth and basically fixed global warming and the oceans in order to make it habitable” story line!

Deep Desire happens parallel to book 3 (Where the Tides Pull Him), and follows one of the other nurses, Jaeyong, who meets and is instantly mesmerised by the kinda scary deep see Mer, Eksal. I was begging for their story after reading book 3, because I just knew that there would be a story there, and I was not disappointed!!

With a new species of Mer comes new biology and anatomy previously not explored, and things heat up quickly. Of course, as with any omegaverse story, there is an element of insta-love, and like most of the other books in this series so far, this one does contain mpreg.

A thoroughly enjoyable novella in the Mermates series, and I’m excited for any future books to come!

I received an eARC from the author and I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts are my own.

Too quick.

Loved it i just with it was longer.
Jaeyong and Eksal have a chance meeting and instantly hit it off. With lots of spice and a bitnof mpreg. This was a good novella. I wouldnt say it needs to be read in order but it would certainly help.

When Naia announced we were getting a little novella I was super excited to be back in this world with some of the characters me met in Where The Tides Pull Him!

Eksal and Jaeyong had a little meet cute at the local coffee shop, Eksal believing he was too overwhelming for the human but Jaeyong was smitten and made sure Eksal knew it the next time they saw each other.

I absolutely loved this short and steamy novella where we see Eksal and Jaeyong go through a heat together with an unexpected outcome. Absolutely adored getting the story between these two, and I love learning more about my favourite Mer.

My only complaint is it was over too soon – haha I could have read a full book of these two but absolutely loved the short and spicy read!

I received an eARC for a review, these words are my own.

This was an ARC read

This is a spicy MPREG story part of the Omegaverse (OV) involving alien mermaids and humans. Make sure you know what all that means before reading.

You know how much we love this damn series 🤩and how much we love a good MPreg story *swoon*

This is book four or book three and half? in the Mermate Series. The events in this book occurred simultaneously with book three.

Each story in the series can be read as a standalone and nothing will be spoiled that YOU know of. Each story also shares who the alien mermaids are and explains their relationship to Earth and Miami, so you will not be confused reading them out of publishing order.

This story follows Jaeyong a human omega midwife experiences life on Miami island for the first time. He is a trained midwife and now works with mermaids and humans delivering their hybrid babies. Jaeyong was not expecting to find his possible match and get knocked up his first year there.

It must have been that glowing 🍆and 💦 his alien mermaid mate Eksal has 🤭No, that is not common for alien mermaids, but unique to the deep sea mermaids. Honestly, we need more deep sea mermaid stories. I mean, we learned we probably love angler fish from this story 😅

Eksal is a 27 year old alien mermaid who is a rare species being o my one of ten on Miami Island. This means a lot is still uncertain about his unique biology and how it relates to human omegas.

Enter this story. It’s a very low stakes, super fluffy, sweet adorable HEA with a pregnancy story. Like, it really helped me feel better in my recovery state. It’s a feel good smutty story.

It is a novella, so it really is like an OV story in that everything moves fast. It’s like their third date and they’re already going through a rut/heat together 🤭
We loved these two characters and yes, maybe watching them date each other and go through hiding from Jaeyong’s friends would make a great novel, but for us this 100 page novella was just perfect.

It leaves the readers yearning for more and also very content and satisfied with our things turned out for them. We did kind of get a little bit of them in book three, so it feels like in this novella we got everything we would want.

We really loved this novella because it focused on one of the friend side characters from book three and we hope we can get more quick novellas like this for the other friends.

Oh yeah, sorry. Got stuck in a tangent. Okay, the main plot of the story is Jaeyong is being bold and gives a mermaid he saw at the coffee shop his number. It’s the second date where they 🍆 and kid you not, by the third date it’s full on rutting time. There are small hints from Eksal that Jaeyong may be his scent match. Then there is the discussion of deep sea mermaids not being studies enough when it comes to birth control, so now we have a pregnancy.

The epilogue is where we see the pregnancy and it’s adorable and cute, so read that part if you want hybrid babies.

Great novella highly suggest also if this is your first time to this series. It’s short, sweet, and to the point. It will let you know if the Mermate Series is for you, which obviously it is.

"Deep Desire" by Naia Moray is an MM alien/mermaid x human romance novella. The story follows Jaeyong, a new RN Midwife that has recently moved to Miami. When he meets Eksal at the local coffee shop, he's immediately entranced by the alpha mer with startling features.

But Eksal isn't used to humans finding his anglerfish-like teeth and claws attractive, so it's up to Jaeyong to make the first move.

Ratings:
Overall: 4/5 hearts - This is a super enjoyable little read that had me gladly staying up past my bedtime to read it through in one sitting.

Peppers (Spice Quantity): 5/5 - I dare say that there's more spice in this novella than plot!

Spice Quality: 5/5 - The spice is super well done and really reflects the differences between the previous mer in the series and Eksal. It's rough and primal and I enjoyed every single moment.

Plot: 4/5 -
- Story: I'll be honest...there's not a lot of plot. But, the plot that's there is simple and straightforward. And I think that's why it works so well. Book 3 spread the plot too thin, but this one was forced to simplify due to page count and Naia did a fantastic job fleshing it out.

- Characters: In 95 pages, there wasn't a lot of characterization that could be done. But I think given the short length, both Jaeyong and Eksal are made into interesting characters with unique backstories and cultures which I really enjoyed.

- Writing: Naia's writing is still great for me. It flows nice and is easy for me to read. I have no complaints there.

❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Disclosure: I received a complimentary eARC of Deep Desire by Naia Moray in exchange for an honest review.

Deep Desire by Naia Moray is a high-heat MM mpreg alien romance novella releasing as Book 3.5 of the Mermate Series. The story follows Jaeyong Baek, a 22-year-old fresh college graduate and midwife new to Mermade Miami, who crosses paths with Eksal Coasi—a spiny, clawed, fanged alien from the deep sea whom Jaeyong happens to find completely irresistible. When a rare biological phenomenon traps them together, a fierce biological trigger sparks a fast-paced, passionate, and unexpectedly deep connection.

Clocking in at under 95 pages, this novella moves at lightning speed. It features hilarious moments, such as Jaeyong placing absolute, adorable faith in his birth control failing-proof mindset when Eksal’s uncommon rut (triggered by Jaeyong's scent) collides with his own suppressed heat. While their dialogue tends to lean a bit formal rather than traditionally romantic rather than skipping straight to "mates," their undeniable chemistry and high-heat spice carry the narrative effortlessly.

Naia Moray manages to pack a surprising amount of humor, world-building, and charm into a short page count. The dynamic between a gentle human midwife and a terrifyingly gorgeous deep-sea Mer creates a wonderful alien-romance dynamic. The spice level is satisfying and well-delivered, making it a quick, highly entertaining treat for fans of alien mpreg romance.

Deep Desire is a delightful, speedy, and cozy-adjacent alien romance. If you love fast-paced novellas, unique alien traits, and plenty of spice, this is an unmissable read.

Deep Desire is a novella and also book 3.5 of Mermate Series by Naia Moray. A series that explores when an alien species creates an alliance with the human race. This book is happening alongside book 3 but from the POVs of another couple, Jaeyong and Eskal. Eskal is a rare deep seated mer, while Jaeyong is beginning his life as a midwife on the mer island. I am really enjoying this series, and even though I don't usually like 3rd person POVs, I didn't even notice after the 2nd page, it's so easy to understand. It's a very sweet romance between two men who think they lie a little outside the acceptable norms, Jaeyong with his sexual preferences and Eskal with his looks and finding it difficult to find someone who loves him the way he is. And even though it's under 100 pages long, it didn't feel constantly rushed, and some scenes has already gone into detail during book 3, so it didn't feel like it missed anything. If you want a fast-paced, Mpreg, super spicy and cosy novella with a bioluminescent mer and an insatiable (but kinda shy) Omega midwife, then this one's for you! I cannot wait for more from this series! And thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read your book early!

when i heard we were getting a sweet little peak at jaeyong and eksal's story i screeched! the hints and foreshadowings we got of them in the previous book had me begging the book gods that miss naia moray would bless us with a book for them, and bless us she did!

this was a quick, steamy, cutsey, wholesome novella that went by quick, but also had me so immersed, giggling, and tearing up at the final page that it felt longer. i love eksal's and jaeyong first meeting, the miss understanding, the surprise attraction, the insta lust, the 'i knew you were my mate from the beginning' trope will always hit soo soo good and make the yearners feeeeeel!

this novella has also peaked my interest in (hopefully) seeing more mer species, maybe the ones who live in other countries and parts of the world. i think it would be so fun to explore this mer-world naia has created.

thank you so so much to the author for blessing me with this amazing arc!!

I received this novella as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This was my first foray into this series. Although I didn’t have the background knowledge of the characters and the world building that I would have had if I’d read the previous books, I was able to jump in and follow the general gist of what was happening in the universe of this series enough to understand and enjoy this sweet little story. As a short novella, there wasn’t time for a lot of deep characterization, but the author still was able to convey who the characters were and they were likable and didn’t feel two dimensional or flat in any way. It was an insta-love, insta-lust fated mates type of story without angst or conflict, which was exactly what I needed in the moment, as I’ve been reading darker and more angsty or complex works lately. I enjoyed this brief glimpse into the series and will go back and read more from this author.

Look, I'm not sure how it happens. All I know is that every time Naia Moray writes a character, I fall in love with them (in a platonic, motherly sort of way) and I wish yo protect them at all costs.

This novella might actually have become a favourite couple. They're just too damn cute.

Oh, one is supposed to be scary and no one wants to approach him? Not today Satan, I will love him forever because he's such a sweetheart!

Yes, we have old favourites... My precious OG ride or dies making some appearances too. I love to see it.

For new readers, the omegaverse can be scary. I confess, it's not really my thing. And yet I have read, and adored every book in this series because the characters are so charming that I come back for more, and I re-read!

Is there sex... Lots of it. Yes it's hot. Are there some surprises... Let's just say there's some illuminating scenes...

Struggling to keep this spoiler free? Yep, I am. Read, enjoy these cutie pies, thank me later!

I will always love a good merman romance! Then I saw it’s an alien met with a human boo!? I was all in. Now, I have not read the other books in this series, and I knew that going into this. I knew I probably wouldn’t have the full scope and depth of the entire situation due to that, but I still wanted to try and I most definitely will be jumping straight to the previous books!!! I thought it was cute, not exactly fluffy but it was definitely sweet. It was fun, I liked both the characters, and it had an adorable little epilogue about their HEA and pregnancy. I will possibly lengthen my review in the future once I go through the other books. So, if you like low angst, sweet and adorable couples that find each other, (think Regitse Liljadorff’s books) this is definitely for you! Cute, short, and sweet. 4.5 rounded to up to 5.

Okay, I need more!! This was my first amphibious alien omegaverse. I had no idea what to expect but Jaeyong and Eksal had insane chemistry. The explanation about the Mer lived and reproduced was so interesting!

Both Jaeyong and Eksal are single and feeling pressure from their parents to settle down and give them grandchildren. Jaeyong just graduated and went to work as a midwife. Eksal works in tech and is still single because everyone is afraid of him. But when Jaeyong sees him, he’s instantly attracted. And when he goes out for drinks with coworkers and sees Eksal, he takes a chance and gives him his number.

The rest, as they say, is history. I adored both MMCs! And I NEED more!!

Deep Desire was such a fun, fairly short, and easy read. Eksal - despite how intimidating he looks - was actually such a huge green flag in my eyes, and Jaeyong was one too, aside from his overconfidence toward the end of the story… which, as it turned out, was completely misplaced. 😅

I liked that the characters from the previous books were mentioned, and overall, the story kept me completely engaged from beginning to end.

The novella was spicy, sweet, and honestly, there’s only one thing that could make me rate it lower: it was too short. I would have happily read so much more about these two. 😩

Naia, thank you so much for the ARC. Once again, you created something absolutely fantastic. ❤️🦐

There is something so addictive about this series. Each book I pick up, I can’t put it down until I finish it.

Deep Desire is about a midwife who comes to the island to help deliver babies. On one of his first nights in town, he meets a Mer who he can’t stop thinking about.

These two have insane chemistry. Tell me why I kind of what a Mer boyfriend now. Jaeyong and Eskal are perfect for one another. Eskal isn’t use to people finding him attractive because he’s a deep sea Mer, but that doesn’t stop Jaeyong. He loves that the Mer is mysterious and is rough with him. And the rut/ heat scene 🔥🔥🔥.

This novella www definitely more spice than plot but I DEVOURED it! I’ll take more please Naia!

Loved this novella and can’t wait for more books from this series!!

Deep Desire by Naia Morey is an Mpreg/MM/Alien Merman Romance.
It is book 3.5 in the mermate series can be read as a stand alone or part of the trilogy.
If you're just getting started in mermate/omegaverse/merman smut this is a good starting point.

The storyline is quick, moves at a good pace even though its just under 100 pages, making ir good for a quick and easy read.
The spice scenes are perfectly written and have a good build up to it rather than just jumping straight into it.

I definitely recommend this to newer readers wanting to dip their toes into these sorts of stories.

✨ ARC REVIEW ✨

I loved this novella. I haven't read the other books in the series but I absolutely will cause the it's a unique world building and the characters are adorable 😍

Deep Desire is a sweet and HOT AF book with alien Mers, mates, heat cycles, knotting and glowing 🤭🔥 It's in 3rd person POV which I try to avoid normally but when I saw this book I just couldn't 😁 And it didn't disappoint.

So if you like omegaverse, aliens, monsterfuck, m-preg and looking for sweetness with your spice, totally recommended. 🖤

Honestly this was the perfect bite size novella! I think I read this in MAYBE an hour. Could’ve been less. Deep Desire is a…monster/alien/bi-pedal merman x human omega romance, with Alpha & Omega gender roles. It was perfectly funny, goofy, and spicy enough to make my ears burn…several times.

This novella is definitely on the fluff & smut side, there’s about .2 seconds of angst at one point that is very quickly worked through!

So if any of these things are up your alley, I’d highly recommend Deep Desire!!

Once again, Naia Moray has me wanting a Mer boyfriend

I've read every book in this series, and somehow Naia keeps doing it,making me close the book and stare sadly at the wall, wondering when my own glow-in-the-dark deep-sea Alpha is going to show up.

Eksal is the sweetest, most thoughtful Mer yet—he literally files down his claws so he won't scare anyone, and my heart melted. Jaeyong is brave, blunt, and so wonderfully flustered around him. Their coffee date had me grinning, and the romantic tension was equal parts spicy and tender.

So cute!! All fluff, no stress. I loved how Jaeyong immediately looked past the scary exterior Eksal has being a deep sea mer to see the sweetie that the alpha is.
I do always enjoy when a story overlaps with a previous one, giving many callbacks to previous books & another POV on the same situation.

Yes if: Looks scary, is a cinnamon roll
No if: Surprise pregnancy

I loved Jaeyong and Eksal's story, I read it in an embarrassingly short time and could not put it down.
A shorter story than the previous three books but just as fun and sweet, however due to the shortness of this story there wasn't much plot but I would love to see more of Jaeyong and Eksal in future books, I cannot wait for further books in this series.

This was actually my first read by Naia and oh my, I have a new monster romance author to add to my list. I loved this story—it was short, sweet, and a fantastic ride. The writing was great with a good plot and some amazing spice along the way.

*ARC REVIEW*

I was already in love with this series and each little snippet I can get, I'll take, because it just makes me fall even harder. Also makes me wish mer-aliens were real because I want one (don't tell my husband 😂).

I knew there was something about Jaeyong and Eksal from the moment they were introduced to us. They were drawn to each other from the beginning and you just can't fight that kind of pull.

I also love that with each couple, we learn something new. I can't say what we learned in this book or else it will spoil it. You'll just have to read for yourself to find out!

Deep Desire is a seriously addictive alien romance with tons of pheromones, Eksal a wonderfully intimidating alien who’s desperate to hide parts of himself to blend in, and Jaeyong a midwife who knows exactly what he wants in and out of the bedroom. The chemistry is intense, the instant attraction dynamic is fantastic, and watching them quickly jump bases made this such a fun read. Definitely one for fans of steamy (but not explicit sci-fi) Mpreg romance!
