THE
A missed connection.
A man no one remembers clearly.
And a place where people disappear without a trace.
When two missing persons cases resurface — years apart, unconnected, and long forgotten — DCI Jonathan Walker is asked to take another look.
Both victims were last seen at Preston Bus Station.
Both appeared to leave willingly.
And both were never seen again.
At first glance, there’s no evidence of a crime. No signs of force. No clear suspect. But something about it doesn’t sit right. As Walker digs deeper, small inconsistencies begin to emerge — subtle details that suggest the victims didn’t leave by choice after all. Waiting. Watching. Choosing the perfect moment.
Because what better place to disappear…than somewhere no one is really looking? A place built on movement. On anonymity. On trust. And at the centre of it all is someone who doesn’t see themselves as a killer… But as a saviour.
With time running out and the stakes rising, Walker must confront a chilling that the most dangerous people aren’t those who hide in the shadows… but those who believe they’re doing the right thing.
Atmospheric, tense and quietly disturbing, The Station is a gripping British police procedural that blends meticulous detective work with a dark psychological edge — exploring control, vulnerability, and the fine line between care and coercion.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Perfect for listeners who enjoy Ian Rankin, JD Kirk, Matt Brolly, and LJ Ross. The Station is the seventh book in the DCI Walker Crime Thrillers series and can be listened to as a standalone.

I finished this book in 1 day. It was awesome! All JJ Richards DCI Walker series are I interesting, well written, and without incredulity. Truly satisfying. The only part of this book that made me unsettled was the brainwashing of the victims by the perp. I understand that the victims thought that the perp had made them “see the errors of their ways” but I couldn’t help but wish that the victims would come to their senses by the last chapter. But in the end the bad guy gets caught for his crimes. So, at least there’s that.

Fabulous Read 📚
I have read all the DCI Walker books, they are wonderful, and all set in my neck of the woods, which make them even more exciting.
I have got the next one The Theatre on order, it's due out April 2027, I am sure it will be as fabulous as all the previous books have been.
I would recommend to anyone who likes a good crime thriller with plenty of twists and turns.

No d blowing
This book was amazing. Edge of seat from start to finish. Scary too that this could be going on today. Don't want to give too much away but definitely highly recommended.
