Knight Shift
Penny Blanchard is a young woman who ventures away from the only home she's known to embark on her own journey. Although her family supports her decision to move across the country, they are leery of her living alone in a world on the brink of war. They fear the tension brewing as the growing Changeling population is forced to hide from the Humans who fear and resent their genetically enhanced skills.
Fate decides to throw Penny into the heart of this conflict when Ice, a lethal protector of the Changeling race, crosses her path. Her sudden and unexpected connection to him and his people's hidden world quickly introduces her to a subculture filled with both passion and danger.
As the conflicts come to a boil, Penny is forced to make a life changing decision. She must choose to either stay with the human world she's always known, or follow her heart and stand at the side of the Changelings who teach her about strength, love, and the real meaning of family.

Why would a 'full-time worker by day' and 'want-to-be artist by night' write books? I have absolutely no idea, but I do believe that everything happens for a reason and, therefore, my insane drive to expose myself to the writing world must also serve a purpose. Only time will tell.
So...if you want to read simple stories about strong female characters and the power of love and friendship give my novels a try. If they help just one person escape for a few minutes from whatever is troubling them, I'll consider myself a success.

This is a long book, at nearly 600 pages it's a book you settle into, it's not just about two main characters, it's about family and real characters you grow to know, love and miss when the books finished.
It's an amazing read, Changelings exist but they've been driven underground by fear and ignorance, this becomes a breeding ground for hate against the humans who placed them in this position.
Penny is just a human and when her path crosses that of Ice, a lethal Changeling known for his hatred of humans the outcome looks bleak but circumstances favour Penny and she survives the initial meeting.
Hatred runs deep and at times war seems a very real possibility and from where Penny is standing she'll be caught right in the middle and as a human what chance does she stand.
It's difficult to do this book justice in a review, it's the first book I've read by this author, if I'm being honest it's the first time I've even heard of this author.
If I describe this book as slow it's not an insult it's actually its strength, it moves slowly so we get to spend time with the characters and it enables us to really get to know them and in other shorter books, relationships are implied or quickly touched upon in this book we actually see the relationships forming, we witness the changes that are made which allows us to bond with the characters.
Changelings covers a wide range of creatures including what we know as vampires and what we know as werewolves with a whole host of special gifts.
I can't finish this review without mentioning just how amazing Penny's character actually is, a lot of books are let down by their main female, you know what I mean, the moaning, the stupid decisions, the idiot moments, well there's not one of them in sight, Penny is everything a great female character should be and then some.
I'm assuming there's to be a second book, I certainly hope so.

Breathtaking
Wow. I finally found a book that made me cry! It had all the elements I look for: love, laughter, and action.
The story was well written, and the characters were well crafted. I loved each and every one of them, and was heartbroken in places - no spoilers from me!
I would highly recommend this book to anyone., especially if you can demolish a book in one sitting!
My final words are directed to the author - please write a sequel!

Such strength
