The Pebsak Strikes Back: The Charmingly Tedious Undeath of ChattyCatty the Pet Lich

Rate this book
This sequel to Vanishing in a Puff of Logic concludes the story of one neurotic gamer's desire to win at Nethack while tripping on shrooms.

On a slightly deeper level, the story is about that same gamer's desire to triumph as a female elven wizard who is, literally, naked.

And on an even deeper level . . .

Let's face it. There is no even deeper level.

Unlike the first, which was clever and fun, the sequel was a bit disappointing. Twists weren't as clever, the plot was linear and there was that weird sexual part that was just not needed.

Didn't follow up on the first very well. I felt that it relied too much on pop culture references. Like, to an extent where it lost a lot of coherency by the end. Also the lich beej scene was kinda uncomfy in ways I'm not sure were intentional.

Not quite as good as the first one, but still fun to read, and contains several interesting Nethack strategies.
