I had a bit of a déjà vu moment when I started reading ILLICIT, the opening bar scene reminded me a lot of another of Madeline's books, WICKED MAGIC, and I had to stop reading for a second to make sure I hadn't already read it. The similarities end there though and I quickly started to enjoy the mystery and danger of the storyline. There were a lot of neat twists thrown in and I enjoyed the characters for the most part.

I am sad to say that I had a big issue with ILLICIT when it came to Peter's character. He could be extremely rude and way rougher than I expected. His treatment of Eva in some scenes was a bit hard to get through. That just isn't my type of love handling. The warning in the blurb is something you should really take to heart before you start reading ILLICIT because I can see some having an even tougher time with a few scenes than I did. Besides those issues I did like Peter when he wasn't being a royal arse. I liked Eva, I thought she had a few moments where she should have kicked Peter to the curb, but for the most part she did a good job of sticking up for herself. The romance between the two was super spicy as you can imagine from a erotic paranormal romance and there are a lot of sex scenes.

The storyline was my favorite part of the story. Madeline is a great storyteller and did a good job of making the story more than just the sex the characters were engaging in. I wouldn't have minded seeing more of the pack included in the story, but I enjoyed the parts where they were present.

Firstly I would like to thank the lovely author and her PA for kindly providing me with a copy of "Illicit" to read and review.

Having being forced to leave his home, his family, his pride, Peter thought he'd never see them or that hateful place again...that is until tragedy strikes and the "alpha" in him forces him to go back...

For what though?

For his supposed family?

For his pride?

For love?

Eva has lost the last of her family, having being broken and abandoned when she was younger, it was Greg Marx who brought her back to the living, brought her back to a family and a pride who will not only protect her but love her....

What will happen now that he's gone?

When Eva & Peter meet it's lust at first sight...of course this leads to a night filled with passion, a night filled with aggressive sex....but does Eva know what she's getting herself into? Or who for that matter?

Secrets will be unearthed

Truths will be told

BUT

Will love reign and mend a broken and iced-over heart?

Will a night of passion turn into something else for Peter and Eva.

This book will definitely keep you on your toes until the very end.

A must read for all you paranormal fans.

Another hit by Madeline Pryce! Peter was told to leave by his father when he was younger and when the old man dies something makes him go home. Once he arrives, he meets up with the now grown up little girl who his father took in right before he was sent away.

A night of passion, notes left threatening her life, and trying to figure out who killed his father makes Peter's return home more than he planned. Oh and lets not forget Eva's ability to heal, what's going on with that?

This book will keep you wondering until the end who done it and will a night of passion turn into something else for Peter and Eva. A must read for paranormal fans!!

Illicit was a book that had me running the gamut of emotions. Madeline Pryce has always been able to incite strong emotions as well as the less all consuming ones with her descriptive writing and her character's interactions. This book was no different. Her ability to inspire anger, lust and compassion is an incredible skill. One she seems to use with ease.

The vivid story that Madeline Pryce has written is not only suspenseful, it is also hotly erotic and full of power struggles. And not all power struggles are about who is dominant, some are about getting someone to dominate. Peter and Eva have the most challenging start and one of the worst beginnings. Peter's jealousies can ruin everything but Eva can heal him, if he lets her.

This book seems so different from Madeline Pryce's other books. I love it. Her characters are just as lusty and just and dominant. But the story is new with twists that you see coming but seeing the how is fantastic. Peter doesn't treat Eva like porcelain and she refuses to be cowed. This was a fast paced book and one I didn't want to stop reading til the last word was read. It has some dark moments, though they had a purpose. The book was fantastic and has a suspenseful ending. I highly recommend it to paranormal romance lovers as well as erotic romance lovers out there.

If you've read other books by Madeline Pryce, than you can expect the same level of writing with this one. There were a few lines I'm not sure what happened but it seems some editing is needed. That being said, The scenes were hot and I can honestly say that expertly crafted sex scene have always been written perfectly despite the number of them. There are some writers that over indulge in dishing out them as if they were their favorite candy. Those eventually get old. So far, as to date, I haven't had that problem with this author's stories; they have been quite entertaining to say the least. I would encourage the author to avoid sliding off that cliff like so many others had the misfortune to make. It's all about moderation, and so far the author has had a good head in that area with restraint.

In all, I did like this story, despite my long standing idea of to mix unlikely species together like an angel and a werewolf. If only I could get a talented writer to placate my weird creativity for pairing a vampire and an ancient mummified mummy (he's feral and she's all cursed and sawdust- taking a bite out of the Big Apple or something like that), I'd forever create a fictional made up word and definition in their name.

**ARC provided by author, in return for an honest review.**

As much as I love Madeline Pryce, I didn't enjoy this book at all. I read almost all of Madeline's book and everyone of them I loved. But I just couldn't love or even like this one too much. The Hero was a real a**hole and stayed a**hole throughout the whole book. He had no redeeming qualities, he wasn't loving towards the heroine at all. She's wasn't so great herself, she let the guy control and treat like trash and took it and fell in love with him away. I'm sorry, Madeline, this book is just way too different from all the books you wrote. It seems like someone else wrote it.

If you love sex with no emotions and lots of it, then this book is for you.

This book was given to my, in exchange for an honest review. That being said....

This book took my seven months to read. It just didn't grip me. I loved Madeline Pryce's Dark Secret series and I wanted to love this book, I just couldn't. Through most of the reading it was going to get a 1 star, but the ending redeemed it to a three. The ending is worth it, but overall the book just didn't do it for me.

This was an unexpectedly intense book.
The emotions were strong and, when it comes to the story line, I was completely thrown off! I did not see that coming!
Original, with twists and steamy sex scenes.
BUT!
Peter's character was a bit rough and unexplicably rude at some points and that's why the 3 stars from me. I get it that he was rude, I just didn't understand why....
