Yeah, if you personally edited & published a book, you should probably give it 5 stars. I'm crazy, right?
Yes, I am. But I also recognize that even the best book of poetry won't have a 1000 batting average. Poetry is a highly personal thing, both for the writer and, importantly, for her reader. Each and every poem is unlikely to resonate with any given person.
That said, I am confident that each reader will come away from this book with a general appreciation for Alex Kneen's creative vision and a particular love for a few of her poems. There are some genuinely extraordinary phrases, lines, and poems in this little book that will stick with you. There are a few that I can point to that I think could stand up against the words of some of history's greatest poets.
And more than anything, when you read this book, you are encountering something very human. Having Alex as your guide, you are sure to come to appreciate our mortal predicament in ever more beautiful ways. This book is worth your time.
I really enjoyed this collection of poetry. The words are beautiful and lyrical, and faith shines through in so many of the poems. I found myself stopping to think about the images and ideas that Alex Kneen brings to the page. There is a quiet honesty here that I really appreciated. A beautiful book to read slowly and savor.
