Elizabeth just wanted to take a week off from life at her family’s cabin. Just one week to get herself back on her feet. Was that too much to ask for? Apparently, yes. The next thing she knows she’s neck deep in a Vampire--Yes, Vampire!--family feud where one side is trying to kill her and the other, led by Virgil--Mr. tall, dark, and irresistible-- wants to turn her! What’s a girl to do, other than have a panic attack and head for the hills?
The connection was instant. From the moment her thoughts entered his mind and his eyes locked onto hers, Virgil Hart knew he would never be able to be rid of her. And he didn’t want to. Elizabeth’s presence had awakened within him unfamiliar feelings. Was it love? Was it lust? Or could loneliness have finally driven him mad? Whatever the reason, Virgil won’t stand by and let Elizabeth be murdered by his brother. Now, if she would just calm down long enough to let him protect her then everything would go much smoother!

I think this book was amazing, first because I couldn't put it down and second Vampires, I love vampires. The vampires in this book are different though only sustaining themselves on blood from animals and blood bags. They help humans for instance when hikers go missing in the Piney Woods Garrison Helena and Virgil search for them because they like keeping a low profile, and seeming normal hunting for missing hikers. Elizabeth is a business owner from Alexandria who recently lost her one true love in her life, her father. Having lost him she is really depressed and feels that a week long vacation to the Piney woods would help her. She remembers her and her father going up to the cabin a lot fishing and doing all kinds of stuff. What she didn't know that on the way there her power would be used to lead vampires to her, and Virgil is this vampire he is instantly drawn to her when he reads her mind and see her in the car beside him and his sister. But he's not the only vampire after her unbeknownst to Virgil he has led his brother straight to her when he watches her at her cabin. Her pulse is felt by vampires and she feels vampires pulses stronger than human pulses. And that is why so many are intrigued and attracted to her. The story get better from when they first meet to there first kiss and when William tries to kill Elizabeth twice. Just read it you will see what I mean it is a book you won't put down.
I don't think this is a great review to base the book off because you have to read it to understand it and it will draw you in like Virgil's pulse drew Elizabeth in.
Great job Bee now I want to read the second book.❤️
Brenda Franklin is a gifted storyteller who paints a picture using vivid, fresh prose that employs all six senses: “Fog held the woods around them captive…” “…pushing the palm of his hand into his silver eyes…” “…he was drawn into a motionless world that had no exact time.” “He could see the echoes of the world around him…”
Well-developed characters—not an easy task with vampires—but Brenda Franklin does a commendable job of walking the line between paranormal and human qualities, including interspersing dashes of humor. Virgil and Elizabeth are interesting characters from the onset until the end and the minor characters add to the story.
If you are looking for an entertaining read—whether you like vampires or not—“A Steady Pulse” will deliver and keep your pulse racing!
I gave this book 4 stars because i enjoyed the over all story. I did have a problem with all work mistakes. I had a lot of words that were in the wrong place or the wrong word used example "go" instead of "to" and "of" instead "or". It wasn't a big deal just took away from the story a little. I will check out the next book just because i liked the over all story. I really liked the characters and there story lines.
This book was a little different from what I was expecting, which was a good thing. Lizzy is a character you could really relate to; she just needed a getaway then her life turned into something from the vampire diaries. Virgil was really a sweetheart and compassionate.
The only thing I didn't like was their rushed relationship. Think it was more of love at first sight, not that that's not a good thing, I just like a girl to play hard to get.
I like that the author took the time to explain parts of the story in detail and the action was awesome as well.
