Could a young boy become friends with a wild bear cub?
After loosing his pet dog, twelve-year-old Alex meets a bear cub during a summer hike in the forest. They cross each other’s paths again and again, sometimes tragically, and sometimes fortunately, when the young cub saves Alex from certain danger. They develop an unusual friendship, sharing hikes and adventures, until Alex realizes that to save the bear, he must destroy the thing they cherish most.

As a parent, Saving Red Bear felt like one of those quiet stories that carries more meaning than it first reveals. My child enjoyed the adventure, but what stood out to me was how naturally it introduced ideas of care, bravery, and responsibility. I picked up Saving Red Bear because I enjoy stories about animals, but I was surprised by how emotional it became. A fun, adventurous, and emotional story with a lot of heart. I enjoyed following Alex through his biking adventures and wilderness experiences, but the strongest part of the book for me was always Red. Every time the bear appeared, I wanted to know what would happen next. The story also creates genuine suspense around Red's safety, especially as the danger of trapping and human conflict becomes more serious. I finished the book feeling that I had gone on a real adventure with Alex.
