What do a concert pianist, a five-hundred-year-old man, a vampire, and a paladin have in common? They’ll all want Nicholae Dragomir dead.
Charlotte was a high-school music teacher when Nicholae found her and charmed his way into managing her career. She’s happy with her new life of minor fame until she meets Simon, an Englishman she’s irresistibly drawn to. He’s sweet, funny, handsome…everything she could want in a potential boyfriend.
Except Simon is keeping a huge secret, and he’s not the only one. When Simon refuses to divulge his past, it sends Charlotte straight into Nicholae’s arms—and a path of destruction. If Simon, Adam, and Agent Seven can’t find Charlotte in time, she’ll be lost forever.
A proud geek *cough*nerd*cough* who likes fashion, interior design, and sports, Vivian Lane is the author of the Children of Ossiria and Strange Allies series. She lives in California.
What would usually bite a pretty woman’s neck? what else has fangs and leaves a dust pile behind when you stake them in the heart? WOW!! What a PALADINTENSE story!! I love that we get to know Charlotte more, get inside her head, get to be her, but WOW! Talk about one helluva surprise, maybe more like a HUGE shock, but either way it stunned me! A couple of times I was super confused about Charlotte's reactions to Simon, or the comments she made to others, even some of her thoughts, because they just seemed so uncalled for, I couldn't understand WHY she was behaving like this. However, I have a feeling, a hunch, heck, call it my "reader's gift", that the next book is going to ABSO-BEEPING-LUTELY blow my mind when all is revealed!! Or maybe the book after that! wink I am glad that this one was not told in first person! I had a hard enough time as it is trying to put some space between me & the story because of Vivian's author magic, and some of this wasn't something I wanted to really live! Might shatter my love/hope/belief in... well you will see what I mean when you read it!! Vivian sure knows how to hold my attention COMPLETELY! Not once did I even waver a teeny bit from this story! I can honestly say that I am so enthralled with this story, that I want - NEED - to keep reading! I sincerely hope that Vivian won't keep me in suspense for long though!! (I read & reviewed The Strange Allies Set (books 1 - 3), but I also did a short review for each individual book as well.)
