THIS IS BWWM ROMANCE/SUSPENSE Caucasian Male--African American female Suspense/romance It may be a slow release but when she lets go, I’ll be there; she will fall and when she does... I'll be there to catch her. Damon: I run the largest modeling agency in New York city. I live the life most men dream of. Anything I desire is mine and I'm not a man who takes no for an answer. As soon as I saw her portfolio, I knew I had to have her. Her skin is dark, flawless, and perfect. It's like deep, dark, delicious chocolate and her eyes...they are so intriguing I can't even describe them. They are midnight blue and when you look into them, it's like you’re immediately sucked into a vortex with no way to escape. From the moment she looked back at me from that picture on my desk, I knew I would do anything to have her and keep her. The only problem is that I'm not the only one enamored with her. It seems that my beautiful model has not only gained my interest, but that of a very dangerous stalker as well. Skye: My name is Skye and I'm Haitian. I came here with the American dream and even I am shocked at how far my career has gone. I work for one of the most powerful agents in New York city and the man is obsessed with me. There's only one problem. Well, there are two really. I don't date white men... Unfortunately, I have no choice but to subject myself to him 24/7 because he is the only one who can protect me from my stalker.
To keep up with all things Suzanne Steele you can find her on Facebook and her wordpress blog. Everything there is up to date. She loves her beautiful readers. Suzanne Steele is an Amazon Bestselling Author and television host for a TV program in the Charlotte NC area. She focuses on volunteer work and is very heavily involved in giving back to her local community. The month of October will be spent focusing on breast cancer awareness. Suzanne has a penchant for writing about dark characters with twisted behavioral patterns. If you're looking for the typical romance, this is probably not the author for you. Her characters are very alpha in nature and many times they operate under obsession for the object of their affection; rather than love. Though she does believe in happily ever afters, her characters many times have a bumpy ride getting there. She also writes under the pseudonym Stormy Dawn Weathers for her writings that aren't so darkly laced with a true realism of shock and awe. Suzanne Steele does not believe in holding back when it comes to writing about how dark and depraved her characters are in the core of their primal natures.
"I knew I had to have her. Her skin is dark, flawless, and perfect. It's like deep, dark, delicious chocolate and her eyes...they are so intriguing I can't even describe them. Blue eyes? Really? The only dark-skinned heroine with blue eyes I know of is Storm of the X-Men. And this isn't the damn X-Men. Seriously people, what the hell is wrong with BROWN eyes?
Well I have to say that Damon has become one of my new boy boyfriends after Antonio Wayne and Glazov, although Damon is no softy by a long chalk he was a more approachable character than the two fore mentioned characters.
Damon and Skye's story was a new take on Suzanne Steele's super alpha writing formally, because the couple was interracial, now I know some who might read this wonder why I would mention that, because love is love right? Well, Yes and No. I've encountered some authors who can be ham fisted with interracial romances by overstating the obvious that one of the characters are African-American, and over write the character to be annoying either she is a super strong black-woman that takes no sh*t off of anyone and has a crap tone of things to prove to everyone in the book about how strong she is , or the other extreme is making her the around the way "hood chick" which is also a turn off.
I'm thankful that Ms. Steele did not do this with the character of Skye, she was a unique woman not only because of her aesthetic features but because she was strong and soft enough to temper and handle Damon without going to far in either direction. She love her family, she loved her man and most of all she loved herself, so in essence she could have been anyone regardless to her ethnicity and I appreciated the author for crafting her this way.
I loved the chemistry and banter between Skye and Damon it gave me a few chuckles in places and the need for a iced drink in others, although Damon was definitely intense about Skye he was as dark and chilling as some of Ms. Steele's other characters. This was an enjoyable quick Saturday afternoon read. I'm looking forward to more stories in this series. Happy Reading!!!!
My genre of choice is interracial reads. Most of the authors are afro-american. I'm always interested in how the "other" side (white people) views this topic when writing. I think this author did a good job as this is my 1st time reading any of her work's. Can't wait for your next interracial read
I really liked Skye. She was very strong and determined. Skye didn't play the whole damsel in distress role. Damon was very tame compared to some of Suzanne's other Alpha Males. I'm usually into the darker taboo type but I honestly enjoyed their connection. I'd really like more from Skye and Damon or a similar couple with a strong female lead.
This book wasn't as nitty gritty or steamy as others but I still finished it in one sitting. My only dislike really is that it was so tame. Not just in the bedroom aspect but action as well.
🟩If you're non-Indian, PLEASE forgive me if I say something wrong in this review.
🟩Cause I might. I don't know ANYTHING ANNNYYYYYYTHING about American Culture, how they view people, what is offensive and what is not.
🟩I will speak my mind, and if you're American, you are allowed to correct me.
⏺Let's Begin.
🅾Now CLEARLY this is an inter-racial romance.
🟧Now see, I have NEVER seen a real black person. Never.
🟧Black people don't visit the place where I live in India.
🟧Our Cable guy is black , but , he moved to India like....25 years ago, so he feels like one of us.
🟧I know that there is a lot of Racism in America. Idk why. I should have read the history, but India itself has a ton of history that I'm not able to finish it.
🟧I know bits and pieces like the Nelson Mandela and Rosa Parks and all that. Only those things that pop culture chooses to show.
🟧But through TV and after watching a LOT LOOOOOT of Ben Shapiro , I have come to know about Racism and all.
🟧See, I don't understand Racism because....well, Because in India, every 3rd person is Dark skinned.
🟧Only Few of us are actually VERY fair.
🟧Most of us are either dark or wheatish. So, racism is not really a thing in India.
🟧People don't discriminate because of color that much , but those who are dark-skinned (sp. women) feel insecure a little bit. That is why companies like Fair and Lovely benefit from our country.
🟧Things like skin color only come up when a girl/boy is about to get married. Color causes inner family conflicts not National Riots in our country.
🟧So I apologize if I don't completely understand the concept of Racism.
🅾🟥My point is, the H ONLY sleeps with black women.🟥🅾
🎦That's what he said and he also gave a vague explanation , which.....ehh.....idk it seems a bit off yk?
“Well, I’m asking anyway. Why don’t you like white women?” He leaned in so no one else would hear him when he answered. “Let’s get this straight right now. It isn’t that I don’t like white women; I just don’t fuck white women.” “You’re so brazen.” I blushed in embarrassment. “You haven’t seen anything until I get you in my bed.” “Why don’t you… well, you know?” “It’s how I’m wired, baby girl. I grew up going to schools that were predominantly African American. I was always the quiet, shy kid, but I knew what I liked. I remember, more than once, Jerome had to kick ass and take names to protect me. Fellow students were always trying to beat my ass because of my size. I guess being so small and timid made me a target. Anyway, back to your question, I have no problem with white women. In fact, I have some very good white friends, but when it comes to my cock, it just doesn’t get hard for Caucasian women. I’ve never fucked a white woman, and I don’t care to in the future. Like I said, it’s how I’m wired.” “I don’t date though.” “Good… because I don’t date either. Ever. And how do you even know what type of man you would date? You’ve never been with a man before, and by the time I get done with you, you’ll never want to be with anybody else.”
❎Now, look I have NOTHING against white women. I haven't even met one in my life.
❎I have NOTHING against black women.
😁Everyone's pretty when they smile.
✅But this para, right there seems..... Idk if its just me or....does it feel cheap to you too?
✅Hell, I ain't white but I felt weird when I read it.
✅I know every man prefers a certain kind of woman. But this author, this book seems to HIGHLIGHT the race fact.
✅Coming from a country where people's nickname is LITERALLY 'Kallu.' i.e 'Black.' People have so normalized being dark skinned here that POINTING that out here in book , even if its in a positive sense felt weird to me.
❎I won't say much, I am afraid of Woke people attacking my DMs. I already told you I AM NOT RACIST.
❎So, emphasizing the color AND using 'white women.' and 'cock' in same sentence felt derogatory to me.
🟥My apologies to anyone who got offended by something I said.
🟥I'll take down the review if you guys want me to.
⛔ Dnf 12% ⛔The plot was somewhat like 50shadeish(tfs shade-ish?🤣) or That lingerie series by Pen Sky. ⛔Rich guy meets virgin from the salt of the earth. ⛔The h lives in impoverished Haiti and comes to NYC for modelling job. ⛔The H is....not a manho, but has a reputation. Since he runs a modelling agency yk. But don't worry he does not sleep EVERRRR with his modles. ⛔The GOOD BIT- You'd think that the h is coming from a small town so she'll be naiive. No sirrrr, NO no no no no. She doesn't hesitate in giving the H her piece of mind. She's ACTUALLY very mature , sensible and intelligent. ⛔No-cheating. ⛔OW/OM drama yes. ⛔There's POV of a stalker too. Didn't stay long enough to find out. 🟥My guess is, she'll be kidnapped in the end Ig and then H will save her and blah blah blah.... 🅾Nothing new in the book. 🅾That little paragraph above left a bad taste in my mouth.
It was nice to meet up with one of book boy friends .I was also happy he hadn't changed , I Enjoyed seeing him in action.lol Skye and Damien have a stalker who wants Damien to pay. Enjoy
Damon and Skye's story is a delicious change of presentation from this author! This story's characters are definitely on the opposite ends of the spectrum and they work so well together! Damon and Sky's story is so adorable! Damon is at the top of his profession and Skye is an aspiring model from Haiti. Damon is clearly in love with Skye from the beginning. Although Damon is a very possessive alpha male, his control and respect of their cultural differences is admirable. Their journey to happily ever after is a rough one. There is a crazed stalker, kidnapping, animal mauling, and even a surprise visit from one of my favorite guys, Antonio Wayne (*swoons*). This story is definitely not short on drama and suspense. You will definitely get both in droves in this fast-paced sexy story!
Compared to Steele's other works, I consider this story vanilla. There are moments of intensity in and out of the bedroom but nothing compared to her other works. If you're looking for a beautifully written love story with focal points of vanilla love, warmth, security, and happily ever after, then this story is definitely the story for you!
This story deserves 5 stars because the sex is hot, Damon is dominant and hot, his connection with Skye is unconditional.
I've always been a huge fan of Suzanne's writing, and once again she did not disappoint. Damon and Skye were fantastic characters both were very strong, along with great supporting characters, the plot was well developed. Skye is a model in Haiti who doesn't date white men. The moment Damon see her picture he's hooked he has to have her as a part of his modeling agency and his bed , but he's not the only one who has Skye in their sights. **" His onyx eyes are piercing, commanding pools of promise, and every time he pins me with that powerful gaze, I hear his unspoken oath that he won't quit until he has what he wants - me."** There are twist and turn along the way as their relationship build from business to personal. As always there are multiple pov's that add that little bit of "extra" to her story's. I did notice a few review that refer to the alpha being on the softer side. While this is true... Damon doesn't seems as demanding or obsessive as Suzanne's normal male characters but he was still a hot alpha. I don't think one of her normal men would have fit the bill with this one it's more of a softer romance. This was a fantastic read I highly recommend for anyone.
The storyline was good and I really ended up liking Skye almost immediately. She's a very strong and determined lead female. She didn't sit back and take it, she could dish it as she got it. Damon was very tame compared to some of Suzanne's other lead Alpha Males.
This wasn't as nitty gritty or steamy as others she has written. That being said I finished it in one sitting. My only complaints are that there wasn't enough action, not just in the bedroom but outside as well. I waited for the "big bomb" to drop in the story and it kinda fell short.
I'd definitely enjoy more from Skye and Damon (or any couple with a strong female)but maybe more length and in depth.
Damon is the prima alpha male...he stops at nothing to get anything or any woman he wants...and as soon as he saw Skye's photo....that was it....from her dark silky skin to her unusual eyes color...to her voluptuous body....he was surrounded by beautiful models....waif like in nature...perfectly and what we are told to believe what a woman's body should look like...he was consumed by his visceral reaction towards her,he wanted to possess her soul...make every wish come true....u have to read this book...4 stars because I was craving more...but not to worry...book 2 is coming.
This was the first book that I read by this author and I must say that I was not impressed. The plot of the story had great potential, but didn't deliver in my opinion. Damon wasn't an alpha he was obsessed and it was ridiculous. His mission was to get Skye in his bed which was achieved rather quickly. I'm glad that this story was on the shorter side because the whole stalker aspect was getting too drawn out. The book was more about Damon and the stalker. Skye was more of a secondary character. I wouldn't recommend reading this book. Overkill
I love me some him,Damon is an alpha male you can just love all over. This is a man that knows himself and what he's about and how to get the job done. This is one cool azz white boy! This story reads at a pace to where you don't get a dull moment. This is friend recommend worthy.
Very enjoyable book. Skye and Damon seemed to have an instant love connection and I believe it. Damon loved her the moment he saw her picture, it didn't take long for her to fall for him. The only thing that bothered me was that she didn't sit down and talk things out with her dad and her family. Other than that, I really enjoyed this book.
I found it a bit slow and boring at times. I missed the over the top alpha. Damon was a bit to civilized. There was more talk in this book than action. A bit disappointing.
I think I had really high expectations based upon other books that I had read by this author. This was okay. Young Haitian girl, which does not make her African-American, comes to New York to model. Her agent is obsessed with her and drama ensues.
I enjoyed reading. Antonio Wayne makes an appearance in this book from The Club (Don't worry if you haven't read). I am a fan of the author, but this is not like most of her other romances. The love story of Damon and Skye was entertaining. I did wish for more at the end.
