Elly Blair has finally honed her magic skills. In fact, her spells have improved so much that the National Organization of Magic plan to honor her with an award for most improved magic.
When the Organization member sent to present Elly with the award disappears, mysterious and sexy magic detective Tom Owenton quickly pops onto the scene looking for clues.
Strange magic is in the air and someone from Elly's past returns to Mystic Hollow. Will Elly's boyfriend Rory Covington be able to help search for answers? And will Elly be able to bake her way out of this magical crisis?
This is the third book in the Mystic Cafe witchy cozy mystery series. Throw a "witch" into the title and add something to do with good food, and yup, you have my attention.
Rose Pressey is best known for this type of story, and she does it quite well. She delivers another good one here with well-developed characters, a bit of intrigue, magical people who may not be what they seem, and some good food to boot.
Elly Blair is at the center of this book, a formerly struggling witch who has finally developed her skills to near perfection. In fact, she's doing so well that she is quite surprised to learn she will be given an award for Most Improved Magic by the National Organization of Magic.
However, actually getting that award may be a problem as the member of the Organization sent to present it to her has disappeared into thin air, and the proprietor of the shop across the way seems a bit more than "off".
It's a fun, great read. Oh, and Grandma Imelda? She rocks!
In this third book about the mystic café, spell books are disappearing, Rory is acting strange and Haley’s magic is making people go crazy? What’s up in the village? On top of that, Grandma Imelda has had to come back from Florida to help out in the café. Can things get any worse? Well, of course they can when Tom comes back to investigate the strange happenings. Rose Pressey is a wonderful author of paranormal books. They are some of my favorite in the genre. Whenever a new one comes out, I have to read it right away and I can’t seem to put it down. I can’t wait for the next one to come out.
Every book in this series have mistakes. A sentence in this book has a sentence using match instead of march. You don't match into a room...you MARCH into it. It really ruins a book . Words run together too. I didn't even finish this one. Disappointed !!!
Although the overall story is really good, the climax is way too much dragged. It could have been so much shorter if the protagonist was not so busy making rookie mistakes and getting herself caught Still 3 stars for the humor and overall story line.
Another great mystical story full of adventure with Elly and The Mystic Cafe. I really enjoyed this book and of course with the cliffhanger at the end, I need to find out what happens next!
The story lines in this series are good, but the writing is erratic. In one sentence, it’s morning, in the next sentence it’s evening. I’m really disappointed. This could be a really good series if the writing was more consistent and flowed better.
It's all about the books, spellbooks that is! I really enjoy this series, especially Grandma Imelda, she has lots of spunk! Still unsure about the love triangle, she needs to pick one or the other.
Once again Elly finds herself in the spotlight of the Organization of Magic. This time she is told she is receiving an award. What she finds is another mystery that may end the town. Someone is bewitching people and stealing spell books.
I love Rose's books. I was happy with the story line. Like the characters although they seemed weak. I just liked this book. Rory doesn't impress me at all. There was parts I felt needed to be said but never was. Like her changing out of her highhills. Elly went on about them for quite awhile. Then the next thing she was fine and running. I didn't beleave the story about a whole magical town losing it's magic because they had their books stolen. Tom seems to be hanging in there. I feel with his job he should be more powerful. I will read the next book in hopes the story picks up. Again, there are some good in this book. I was just disappointed
This book by Rose Pressey was great and Elly Blair is one of my favorite characters by her. It was a fun read with a lot of adventure. You have to love Grandma Imelda she is one feisty lady. The hints that were dropped along the way made the reader try to piece together the mystery, but you were never sure if you were right or not. I like books like that because they make me think as I am enjoying the story. She ended this one with a true cliffhanger, so I guess we will have to bug her to hurry up and write the next one.
I enjoy books by Rose Pressey mainly because she is from Kentucky and I can identify with the places and the people. I can envision myself in her books because I have walked those streets. I am sorry to say I feel her books are losing depth. If not for the a fore mentioned reason I'm not sure I would still be as much of a fan.
I just love this series. This one really keeps you on the edge of your seat. The ending was a surprise. I hope the next book will be available soon. I am excited to see what is in Elly and Tom's future.
