Kyle J. Durrant was born in 1997 and raised in East Anglia, though has probably spent most of his life exploring other worlds. He fell in love with writing at the age of ten and hasn't stopped since.

When not writing, he tends to sit in varying stages of existential dread, or delves into video games, books and movies relating to whatever obsessive fixation he is in at the time.

Kyle has written copious amounts of notes relating to his fictional worlds, which drastically outnumber his completed stories.

Review of advance copy received from Author
August 24, 2026
Earlier this year, I was given the opportunity to read a review copy of Curse of the Cachalot, unfortunately I was in my first big reading slump of the year. This book definitely helped pull me out of that slump.

I've never read Moby Dick, but imagine if Moby Dick was a constantly pursuing, red backed, lovecraftian nightmare that showed up when you least expected it. That's kinda what they're dealing with.

This book is about obsession, paranoia, and the creeping dread that builds when you don't know what is real or who you can trust.

If you're looking for cosmic horror, pirates, paranoia, and maybe a little spice, this is the book for you.
