A Military Stepbrother Romance

“The only relief I had was that, if I was going to die, I was going to die in your arms.”

After a hectic month, I was at my wit’s end and in need of a change of scenery.

With his irresistible smile and charm, my Army Ranger Stepbrother, Wes, convinces me to go backwoods camping with him to take my mind off things. I don't know why I agreed, after all, my idea of roughing it up was a Holiday Inn that only changed the sheets every other day.

But what was intended to be a getaway to clear my head, turns out to be a series of events that lead Wes and I to learn our true feelings for one another and a fight for our survival!

**This is a standalone full-length Romance with a HEA, no cliffhangers!**

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review

Whew! Wes and Robin were so hot, I was lucky to survive reading another one of Lauren Landish's steamy forbidden romances. She knows how to bring the heat in the coldest of atmospheres and keep you interested until the end. I could overdose on stepbrother romances and Lauren is now listed among my favorite authors to feed my habit.

Robin is a beautiful brainiac that has been attracted to her army ranger stepbrother Wes for years. They have both skirted around the obvious until now. Now faced with losing a job, Wes wants to take her on a trip in the mountains of Canada to take her mind off of her troubles. Little do either one of them know that their excursion will be more than either one of them ever dreamed of. In the middle of surviving their harsh climate, they realize that their feelings rival the heights of the mountains and they are in for the uphill battle of their lives both body and soul. As story progresses, it becomes evident that Robin has just as much strength and tenacity as she does brains. Everything that she endures throughout Survival shows both heart and determination and evokes admiration from the reader.

Wes is enough man for anyone and makes you feel just as weak kneed as Robin. Along with all of that brute strength he has plenty of brains and heart combined with his rugged good looks and he is enough to make any woman swoon. From his sexual innuendos and prowess to his ability to persevere through any life threatening situation can to turn a reader's heart to mush.

I would highly recommend Survival as a must read for lovers of stepbrother romances and stories that show the beauty and strength of its characters. Lauren kept me on the edge of my seat in nail biting suspense going through all the kaleidoscope of feelings with her characters on their journey of both treacherous landscape and heart. Wes and Robin show us that love cannot be denied and is just much a need as food and water.

I would give this a 3.5 stars. If I only counted the first half, this was definitely a 5. I just felt like the first half of the book was 1 story and the 2nd half just came out of nowhere. I just didn't get to see their romance progress after surviving their near death experience. It just jumped right to a proposal and we skip forward a few times.

The book starts off how the blurb goes, Wes and Robin go on a trip for a break but end up stranded. Luckily, Wes' background lends itself to the situation and helps them both survive. Here in the wilderness, they finally put their feelings for each other into action.

Landish is a very good writer – her books consistently have few errors, good flow and a solid storyline. Wes and Robin already have an established relationship as step-siblings who respect and genuinely like one another, so there doesn’t need to be a drawn-out introduction and build-up to why and how they become a couple. When their relaxing camping trip to the wilderness suddenly turns into a survival situation, Robin finally admits to herself that the love she’s always wanted is smack in front of her in the form of her stepbrother. Her stepbrother, on the other hand, has always known he’s been in love with her, and the situation presents itself for them to launch full throttle into following their hearts. Wes and Robin are easy to relate to and likeable. Their already existing friendship, and then expression of deeper feelings as they explore their new relationship, feels natural, as does their conflict upon returning home after being rescued: how should they act and when are they going to admit what has happened to their parents? And then having the parents happy about them getting together…finally? I was doing the happy dance – this was a refreshing angle, for sure, in a step-sibling romance.

The reason why I only rated this book a four-star is because I became lost and disinterested in the exoskeleton and robotics explanations. I had absolutely no idea what was going on and for me, it didn’t add to their personal story. If anything, it surprised me that after all those years they didn’t get married and have kids sooner than “several years had passed” and then they were getting married and talking about having kids. All in all, though, a feel good, well written story.

This is a full length story, not a short length story which is what I am used to reading from Ms. Landish. I really enjoyed this story because, HELLO, it is a stepbrother story. It has such great flow. The story is about 150 pages long. You have the MC of Wes and Robin who has, for years who have flirted back and forth with one another but as right now, nothing seems to come of it. Wes is a former army ranger who has more to his background and Robin who is very a smart woman but has just pretty much had it with her job and just pretty much quit /lost her job. So Wes and Robin decide to take a trip up to Canada and just relax and spend some time together hanging out.
On a life changing trip, they almost die, feelings come out that have been hidden and they both realize they have been hiding who they really are from each other. There is such a great storyline here. I couldn’t put this book down. I enjoyed really getting to know the hidden depth of each of the MC and the little twists that came up toward the end of the book. It was fantastic—The ending was wonderful and wrapped up any questions I had. This is a standalone and passion between the MC is so good. The emotions are so real that it leaps out at you. I loved how alpha Wes is ; and you can feel how submissive Robin became for her man. Outside the bedroom she is Ms. Independent but inside, she is lil ms submissive. This is one hot read. I highly recommend this story and this author.

My rating: 4.7 stars ****

Wesley has surprised his Father and step Mum by turning up at their home after his lost recent mission. Shortly after, his step sister Robin arrives too, she has just broke up with her boyfriend, been laid off work and had her car window smashed in with a baseball bat...yep it's been a trying day. Wes decides to invite Robin on his wilderness escape, help her relax after the stress she's just been through. Half way into flying to their destination, they crash land, nearly one hundred kilometers off course. Now they have faced death in the crash and looking at making it back, they both decide to acknowledge the feelings they have held for each other. But what will happen if and when they're rescued, can what they have last through everything, especially telling their family.
The final chapter is basically an epilogue, giving awesome closure, I can't say much I don't want to give the story away.
I totally loved this book, it's my first book by Lauren, but it definitely won't be my last. ( I've already got another download and ready to read). I must admit part of me would like to see part of the final chapter (the golf club secret talk)fifteen years in the future.

I received an ARC for an honest review

Wes and Robin have flirted with each other and have flirted around their feelings for each other for years. Finally, circumstances which arise during a shared vacation provide the catalyst through which they finally find the courage to act on their hidden feelings. The trick is to see what effect the reemergence into everyday life has on their relationship.
As with all of Lauren Landish's work, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The introduction of the full novel length as opposed to her usual shorter story allowed her to build a depth into this story that expanded it into a book that I literally wasn't able to put down from start to finish. I hope that this a a book size that she will explore again in the future!

A great story! Wes and Robin's story is a stepbrother romance where they have secretly been attracted to each other for years. Wes invites Robin to go on a camping trip with him when the plane crashes. They are the only survivors of a small plane crash which encourages Wes and Robin to "cuddle up" and get closer, igniting their romance. As they are fighting through the wilderness their love blossoms.

It is a great story that has a happily ever after and leads to an amazing future for the characters. Definitely a good read.

Superheroes

Ok I loved the survival part. I thought they were good together. However the extra part about the robotics had nothing to do with the plot. I understand why it was there and thought it was awesome but unnecessary. Overall the characters were funny, compassionate and confident. I thought it was a great story and well told.

Just me..

The book was good don't get me wrong, it's just something I wasn't into. To me it took forever to get to the end. Even though I read it in just a few hours. That is not what I mean, it felt like it crawled. Just not exciting enough for me.
Nothing wrong with the book or story, just my own personal view.

I loved this book it was a little slow at first but Wes and Robin have had feelings for some yrs but have been dancing around it and flirting, but a hiking trip he takes Robin on in Canada turns out to be much more than he bargained for when there plane crashes leaving the pilot dead and there stranded in the Canadian mountains what shall they do? Jump each other's bodies of course

A VERY ADDICTING READ.

Like m&ms, once you start you can't stop. The characters are all very lovable, and easy to relate to. The storyline, from plane crash to HEA was realistic and easy to get into. Just the right amount of steam.

I really enjoyed this story. It brought a little romance, some suspenseful life-or-death moments, a lot of steamy action and some truly magical moments. Imagine a hot military man who is all alpha but has the brain of a nerd, it's truly awesome. Good job, Lauren.

Cute, interesting short read. Would I read again? Probably not but I would recommend to anybody that's looking for a story where survival instincts n military training kick in at a time of crisis n the main characters come out the other side w/ a side of romance

I've enjoyed being introduced to LL's work via her co-writing with Willow Winters, so I thought I'd give one of her solo works a try. For ME, the stepbrother thing is risky. I'm not into anything too taboo, but this one is handled well. I guess I would have thought surviving a plane crash would have caused a bit more anxiety, but the characters were so calm, almost like they were strangely grateful for the time alone? There were times when their experience had its tense moments, but luckily, everyone had the skills to deal with it. I did appreciate that their family did not freak out on them when they got home and eventually announced their relationship, as the parents came across as intelligent and level headed about the whole thing. This was a good book, a solid read, just nothing above average for me. The ending kind of dragged out a bit, but even with that feeling, I liked that all the work that went into explaining their talents and backgrounds was able to play out with their eventual business success. Again, a good read. If you are into the Stepbrother romance, I would assume it is above average. I'll definitely read more by LL.

This story was predictable and so overly sweet I got sick of reading it. There was very little drama or angst in the story to keep the reader wanting more. The only thing that kept me going were the hot rendezvous the couple had in the mountains and in Atlanta. if not for those, I could have read Cinderella or snow white and for the same ending.
