*ARC Given in exchange of an honest review*
(From my blog)
Heat was given to me in exchange of an honest review and I'm really glad I got to read this excellent NA novel. I had read a novella by Lis Lucassen, in Defiant, and I loved it a lot. So I was naturally excited to read another story she wrote !
First, Heat had an original and well developped story telling. There were two points of view, Dan's and Lynn's. It gave to the story an intersting rythm, making it a real page turner ! I never got bored and was looking for to read the end of the book. I wanted to know where the characters would go and what would happen to them.
The two main characters really got my book lover's heart beating fast ! Their story were captivating because we come to care deeply for them. I admit I had a thing for Dan : his secrets, his struggle and what he had to go through... not to mention his brown eyes ! But both of them are realistic and moving characters who must win battles against a haunting Past. The way they got to reveal themselves to each other was exactly how it should have been done. It felt perfect and I loved them !
And I enjoyed the End too ! As usual, I won't say much about it but trust me, it was satisfying, moving and right.
As for the topics of this NA novel, I found they were very well depicted and carefully revealed page after page. Specially when I think about how easy it was to put myself in their shoes. I often find it's hard to get into the story when it's not the character telling his or her story directly to the reader. I don't say I don't like it but I prefer reading as if I'm the character speaking... Anyway, here it was intense all along and very well done !
I highly recommand this NA novel to every book lover who has a soft spot for strong and endearing characters, and who enjoys suspens and psychological aspects such as the importance of doing the right things and freeing ourselves from the wrong we did in the Past. Dan and Lynn were both sweet and hot, funny and it felt like they could come out of the book anytime ! So real and intense ! Of course, there were hot, tender and emotionnal moments.
You have to read Heat ! Trust me, you don't want to miss this very goodread !
