I have been a fan of Top Gear for many years and read many of Jeremy Clarkson’s books. The Gloves Are Off provides a biography of Jeremy Clarkson, as told by Gwen Russell. Overall, I found the information to be interesting and entertaining. It was only later that I learned it was an unauthorized biography—a bit of a letdown.
The main thing I wanted to learn about Jeremy is the details behind the incident at the hotel. The real background, the actual event, and aftermath. That turned out to be a huge event in his life, and it occupied s a small paragraph in the book.
This book is a good summary of Jeremy Clarkson’s life, but I would have preferred to read Clarkson’s own words.
