Sara Hawthorne thought she had found the man of her dreams. He was caring, protective to a fault and desired her in ways she had only dreamed of. Her life was finally falling into place until a secret tore her new world apart. Reeling from a devastating betrayal, she ran from the only man who had broken down her defenses, making her feel alive after years of simply existing.

Alek Devera risked it all to keep her safe. His own happiness meant nothing if she wasn’t protected. But when Sara ended their relationship, the evidence of his betrayal strewn at her feet, he vowed to win her back, putting their delicate future into fate’s hands.

Will Sara give Alek the chance he needs to explain or will she choose to forge ahead with her simple life, leaving her heart in the shadows along with her dreams for a happily ever after?

I'm an indie author who grew up with a love of reading and a very active imagination, never putting pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard until 2013.

I typically write romantic suspense, as I love stories with some twists and turns. I also love my HEA, although the road to get there is quite the journey.

What went wrong?

Despite its faults I really enjoyed the previous book 'Addicted' and I couldn't wait to start this one but now I'm left asking myself exactly what went wrong.
Despite my excitement I find I'm bored almost instantly, it's just not working for me and the only way I managed to get through it was by skimming.
I didn't like either Alek or Sara in this book and the book itself consists almost exclusively of arguing, more arguing, stupid misunderstandings, childish behaviour and sex. These two act like immature teenagers most of the time and I couldn't bring myself to care what happens to them.
I've already got the next book waiting because it never occurred to me that I wouldn't like this, I'm returning it for a refund along with this one.

Shattered by S Nelson
Addicted was the first book in this trilogy and Shattered is the 2nd book. What I can say is the titles are perfect for each book. Book one you become addicted like a drug addict, you want more after you have finished and book two lives up to its name – it really shatters you. This book really plays on your emotions and Sara is a tough cookie by standing up to Alek. You feel for Alek and his determination to show Sara she is wrong to think the worst. What you believe to be creepy in book one is not so creepy after all. You will have to read the book to understand the meaning of this. I am not going to say too much, but this story leaves you with one hell of a cliff-hanger. Looking forward to book 3. Would I recommend this Trilogy – most definitely.

What an amazing story.. the 2nd book is just as amazing as the first. book one ended with Sara fleeing from Alek. Why did he possess all of those pictures of her? What and how long has he known her and what was he hiding? Who was the man she gave her self to? He lied and Betrayed her.

Book two starts out with her still wondering with the thought of what Alek was really all about. She wasn't ready to talk to him. She wasn't ready to listen to his story, but not being with him made all the nightmares of her past come rushing back to her. How could she allow him to break down the walls she worked hard at putting up?

Alek was going insane without Sara. Every attempt to try to explain to her why he has the things he had. She would understand if she would just give him a chance. After her final attempt to shut him out he couldn't take it. He wasn't taking no for answer. Forcing her to his house. He would make her hear his side and explain to her. She had to.forgive him. Right?

Well Alek's plan to get her to listen did work. His secrets out and her past comes to light but he is still hiding things from her. Well not so much as hiding just not ready to go into his past just yet. But as they start to get closer again, Sara starts meeting the people.in his life that meant a lot to him and more questions about his past start to come into play to the point he has to tell her.

This story is wow. I couldn't put it down. The secrets are out and the struggles are real and an old threat comes back to rip apart Sara and Alek. Will their fight to be together prevail or will the secrets and threats of there past keep them apart? or will someone take it all away?

I am already going crazy for book 3... I don't know how I am going to make it until July. If you have not read Book 1 Addicted. I suggest you do. This is definitely a series you will enjoy. Sandra's books are not your typical romances. That's why I enjoy them. They are not cut throat. They have real struggles and her alpha males She creates are amazing and sexy as hell. Alek and Sara's relationship definitely is one you must read. You will not be disappointed. So excited for book 3.

I recommend for 18+ . Don't let cliffhangers be a reason not to read. This is a series you don't want to pass up!

I just tried to review it and somehow it got deleted.. so ghetto review time!

We find out the secrets, but the story development is still lacking. The H becomes unbearable which is shocking because I loved him in the first book. So unbearable that I start skimming chapters. I still gave it three stars because I believe my expectations of this book, and maybe the trilogy, just weren't met. It may be a "It's not you, it's me" kind of thing.

I'm not continuing on with this story. It just went downhill fast.

Horrible, absolute drivel

It was cringe worthy at times, and you wonder why she doesn't get a restraining order against him. Its totally unrealistic and makes women out to be crazy out of control lunatics.

I honestly don't know if I will be continuing to the last novel in this series. It just keeps getting worse. Nothing happens and when "something" finally does, it's honestly nothing. *_*

At the 69% mark when I was starting to think that we would, for the entirety of the novel, watch their day to day activities; Alek's "bombshell" was "dropped." Not much of a bomb but it beats adolescent arguments and boring sex.

They continue to be overly angry & emotional and I expected Alek's secret to be that he was in a mental institution with Samuel. After all, that's where they all belong. Luckily, it seems the best friend's story is playing out on it's own so we won't be subjected to that and it turns out Alek has friends & the story of his sister is not as nail biting as I first thought.

The cliches are too much and the over-everything is too much. Overacting, overreacting, overly beautiful, overly wealthy ... it's like 'Barbie's Dream House: The Seattle Edition'. After reading some reviews on the previous book, I started to notice the 50 Shades of Grey similarities but as much as I hate the movies, I thoroughly enjoyed 50 Shades and read it multiple times. I even got the paperbacks. I can't say the same for this trilogy.

DRAMA!

I hate cliffhangers so I'm very glad I already have book 3! Alek is such an intense character, much more so than Sara. That is what makes their relationship work so well. The shock of finding all the photos of herself from 8 years in Alek's closet was explained but not before a lot of angst. Then more drama from Alek's cousin and his best friend from the past. Now Alek's worst nightmare....Sara has been kidnapped again by her worst nightmare.

I'm really enjoying this trilogy!

Shattered, book 2 in the Addicted Trilogy, takes us right back to where it all ended in Addicted. Therefore, yes you must read the first book prior to this one in order to understand anything that is taking place. Having said that I cant say a word because I don't write spoilers into my reviews. Why would you pick up the book and read it then? And you MUST pick this book up. Addicted found us meeting Alek and Sara. The two are interwoven with a connection that Sara does not know about and Alek has yet to shed any light on why he is possessed with Sara.

The gang is all back in Shattered along with some new faces. You will find out in great detail the events that made Sara the way she is and you will also find out the secret of why Alek is so possessive of her which will include the events that led to his sisters death.

Vague .. yes ... but necessary ... of course. Go one click. The third installment will be out in about 3 weeks I have been told. I let Ms. Nelson know that I was contemplating throwing myself into traffic due to the cliffhanger in Shattered and also let her know I was speaking to her. LOL! -- LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SERIES!

Shattered picks up where Addicted ended. Sara is devastated as she realizes that Alek has kept secrets from her. Both are miserable as Sara ends the relationship. Alek fights to win another chance as Sara avoids him at every turn. I found myself questioning Alek's over the top devotion to Sara's safety, at times finding myself irritated with his overbearing attitude and other times completely understanding. I love Sara's sass and independence while at the same time loving Alek's super sexy attitude. This book is full of surprises and I never knew where it was going next. I love the author's style of writing, the complex characters created, and the unexpected development of the story.

This book does end on a cliffhanger that will have you wanting to throw the ereader/book across the room. I would suggest having the 3rd book in the series ready, because you will NEED it. This series is aptly named The Addicted Trilogy. You will find yourself even more addicted than the you were after the 1st book.

Wow! Holy crap on a cracker! That is what I said when I finished Shatteted. What an amazing roller coaster ride. I absolutely love both characters. Sara is so strong and compassionate. You learn all about her past and why she is guarded with who she trusts and you admire her all the more for how she has rebuilt her life. Alek is definitely all alpha male in book 2. At times I wanted to smack him up the side of his head for his caveman actions and slight double standards, like with Jacinda. We also learn about his past but it is like pulling teeth for him to divulge some of it. He needs to learn that relationships are both a give in take.
A lot happens in Shattered, emotions are up and down. They have amazing moments together and some very painful moments. The end is a massive cliffhanger that leaves you desperate for book three "Wanted".

This is oh.. so... good! Fresh from finishing off S Nelson's Shattered, I think I could say that my reading addiction just got shattered, too!

The story continues with Sara and her apprehensions after breaking up with Alek. Soon things got settled in, but not without the doubts, secrets, misunderstandings and hot sex between the sheets (or lack of sheets thereof). The mention and appearances of certain exes were some of the exciting parts of the story. But the real deal that knifed my heart was at the ending, when Sara was taken. That moment was Oh, My Gosh!

Miss Nelson is one talented writer and her novels are brilliant! Shattered got me reeling and anticipating the release of Wanted! And I want it now!

I'm missing something?

So with book things seems to get a little more juicier. I could be less frustrating if Alek and Sara didn't fight constantly. I felt I was left out about the second dairy characters lives. If the author is going to bring up their it I would liked if know how it ties into the story. Is there a spin off, or did I miss a book that ties to this series.

The story was really great it is keeping me wanting more

Better than the first, IMO. However, I'm still having a problem connecting to the characters in the book. I think it's because the author mainly focuses on nothing but the arguments and sex. The closest I came to feeling something was their interaction in the club where Alek didn't take himself so seriously and it was short lived.

Sara fell head over heels for Alec but a secret made her walk away. Can Alec get her to listen to what he has to say or will Sara be too stubborn to listen.

Awesome Plot!!

This book was nothing short of Amazing! I love how passionate Alek is over Sara and her well being is his number one concern. Although, he sometimes does too much seriously. That cliffhanger was very unexpected and i can’t wait to read book 3.

The second installment, continues to follow the growing relationship of Alek and Sara. They both have formed connection they cannot deny and so despite having so much baggage they try to make their relationship work.

They face a lot more struggles and events that test their want for one another, but through each fight they seem to make it to the other side knowing that what they have is so much more than their hurtful pasts.

Shattered is full of emotion and the journey it takes for Alek and Sara to find peace with themselves and their pasts in order to cherish one another completely. It was very engaging and the cliff hanger once again has me wanting to start the next installment as soon as I can.

Its a great story, with as many happy moments as emotional, as Alek and Sara we're made for each other especially with their stubbornness and need to protect one another.

📖 Shattered
This romance is raw and emotional, diving deep into themes of loss, betrayal, and the painful journey toward trust and love. The connection between the characters is full of fiery chemistry and emotional scars, which makes their story both passionate and heartbreaking. Spice level is 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (steamy yet balanced with emotion). The tone is intense, dramatic, and addictive, pulling readers into every twist and turn. The ending, however, leaves readers on a major cliffhanger, ensuring you’ll be desperate to pick up the next book.
