I’ve known Michele Packard as an author awhile now. She was actually one of the first authors I discovered when I started my Bookstagram journey and has become one of those go-to authors for me, so when Blink landed in my hands, I already knew I was in. This fast-paced novella follows Nikki, a woman who is family first, mama bear to the core, and very, very Texas. Michele wastes absolutely no time throwing us into a world of power, money, family, secrets, greed, and some seriously Texas-sized power plays. It moves FAST, and just when I thought I had a handle on where this was going, Michele dropped a secret that had me stopping mid-read like…wait. WHAT?! I literally had to go back and reread it, followed by a full-on what the heck let me take a minute moment. 😂
This is exactly why I love watching Michele’s career. She knows how to tell a story, keep the pace moving, and then sneak up behind you with a twist you never saw coming. Blink may be a novella, but Michele packs a whole lot of story, tension, and OH HELL NO into those pages. She is absolutely an author to watch, and if you haven’t checked out Michele Packard yet, what are you waiting for?! She’s here to stay, and I’m already looking forward to whatever she throws at us next.

Blink reads like a short Matti Baker novel with her “younger sister”, Nicki Blackwell as the main character. Nicki and Matti even love the same music. Nicki is as witty and sharp as Matti, but with a separate life of her own. Nicki finds herself entangled in a web of family drama and secrets that she had no idea existed. Who can Nicki trust? Protecting her family, especially her three children are most important to her. In the meantime, the hits keep coming and Nicki must find the answers to her many questions and suspicions sooner than later. Blink is a wild ride! You will find yourself absorbed with finding the truth and understanding the many intricate relationships in this tangled labyrinth. Will there be another book with Nicki Blackwell fighting for her life, her family, and ultimately the truth? This book is another success for author, Michele Packard. I enjoyed Blink and highly recommend it ; especially to fans of her successful Matti Baker series.

Buckle up!
I was lucky to receive an advanced copy of Blink a few months ago, and what a ride! Much like her much loved Matti Baker series, Blink is full of great action and has a kick ass female lead as full of snark as she is determination. The tension is just right with twists that kept me on my toes. And that ending… Is there a second in the works?

Blink is the stunning new novel from the infamous Michele Packard, author of the Matti Baker series.
The story follows Nikki, heir to a family-built fortune who runs a personal fief in the American south. Worlds collide as she navigates treachery from within and without. Against all odds, she battles friend and foe alike in a bid to protect her family and root out those attempting to destroy everything she and her kin have built.
Overall, this is a fantastic story. It has Michele's trademark witty banter and actions scenes with plenty of twists and turns thrown in for good measure. The title is accurate as if you blink, you could miss a single detail that could solve an insidious mystery. A brilliant read and highly recommended!

I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This is a story about Nicky Blackwell and the trials and tribulations that they go through after Nicki's husband Sam and her son Patrick were said to have died in an avalanche. Nicki learns that there is more to the story and she learns what it is as she has to protect the rest of her family from an unknown cartel.
Read along as she discovers surprises as to what the reasoning is that the cartel is hunting her for. Discover how her family and long time employees play a role as she gets closer to a final answer.
The ending is one that you might not expect, but it sums the story up nicely. This is a book well worth the read, so don't miss out!

Blink, the newest, fast-paced thriller by Michele Packard, is a read-in-one-sitting good time. Beginning with the opening scene where a murder is committed in an elementary school pickup zone to the diabolical twist at the end, Blink never allows the reader to blink. The story races from drug cartels corrupting politicians to shady real estate deals ending in murder. When long-buried family lies surface, things really heat up. Packard’s signature snarky humor is on full display in this page-turner, which only makes it more fun. Blink is one of my favorite reads of 2026.

Blink is a page turner that has you wondering who’s good or at least not too bad, and who’s really bad. The opening scene sets the tone and Packard does a great job weaving humor and tension in this story of a family with both secrets and don’t-mess-with-us skills. Very fun read.
