Frustrating

Spoilers: I really liked all the previous books, but this one just has some really frustrating aspects. Rachel takes a pretty big back seat and roach gets a lot of chapters. All of the super coincidental meetings or just barely got meeting of characters is really frustrating. I also spent the majority of the novel wondering what was going to happen to Katie to then not even get any closure. To sum it up Rachel's character took a step back, Irina is cool, John is John, Katie is both an important character and barely exists, and roach is way too lucky for no reason.

Dirk Patton absolutely owns this genre with what I think is the best book I've read so far in this astonishing series. Again I listened to the audio book version which is narrated by the most talented narrator of them all, Jeffrey Kafer. Just fantastic. This is action, from beginning to end with incredible characters and some of the best dialogue I've ever heard. The best part for me is knowing there are plenty more books in the series. If you are serious about your post apocalyptic reads then this series absolutely must be in your list.

As with the first four books in this series, this is a fantastic, extremely well-written work of art, with one glaring exception: Roach. I find myself skipping over the chapters with him in it, as his character is simply too much. Those chapters are hard to read, they are extremely graphic and are continually depicting women as idiotic, slow-witted victims that are far too easy to prey upon, they ridiculously detract from the actual storyline, and readability devolves to zero because (without revealing spoilers for those readers who will remain interested in his character) even though this is a graphic novel by nature and design, this character is out of place, and I personally do not wish to read about him. With the first four books being rated as solid 5-star novels, I cannot in good conscience, rate this (Book 5) higher than three stars. Roach is simply too much, and as I anxiously dive into the next edition of the V Plague, I do hope he gets removed in Book 6. Permanently.

Well written zombie fiction

When I saw that there were over a dozen novels in this series I was confused. There couldn't be that much left to say in such a crowded genre, could there? Mr. Patton continues to surprise me with a fantastic series that is overflowing with unique element and interesting characters.

WOW!!!! What can I say, this story just rolls along and GRIPS you! Never a dull moment and the Zombies....infected....whatever you call them - just CRAZY. Not like in any other books I've read. I want to badly to say more, but I don't do spoilers and anything more I say, will spoil it. Just read these books. Start with book 1 and buy them all because you will want to keep going!

It's On Now!

The drama that's been unfolding is riveting! John, Rachel and Katie, what's going to happen? On a sour note Roach is a sadist, and in a zombie apocalypse, those type of people survive because they are sick in the head. The best thing to do is chamber a round and squeeze the trigger.

Tinker

The only thing I don’t like is that the story line plays out the same. John goes out and gets caught up and has to be saved or Racheal gets lost and John goes nuts.

Again, the storyline is somewhat believable with the attacks from the Chinese and Russian. Anyhow, John believes Katie is alive and he’s going to go nuts until he finds out what happened to her.

Can Mr. Patton really justify keeping Roach around unless he's using him around to keep readers around just to see he reaps his just rewards???? One reunion has taken place and how many more cliff hangers must come and go before another takes place?

Great book

Every bit as good as the first four. Action packed and character driven. Full of twists and turns. Will John Chase ever find his wife. And if he does what will happen to the new woman in his life? You really need to try this series!

You're killin' me Gil!

Series is great! Rolling through it like a herd of females. Fast, strong and eating up every word. Action, intrigue, bag-o-___ks politicians, espionage, mystery, horror, and so much more.

Great Adventure

Do you like post apocalyptic books, zombies, hulking army dudes? If you do, this is the series for you and book number five doesn’t stop with the action. The main characters continue their journey and the action is great. I highly recommend this book!

Every page is a turner. Action, action and more action. The predicaments the lead characters find themselves in are highly entertaining and thrilling. Difficult to put down, causes lack of sleep, weight loss and make it hard to keep a job. MUST KEEP READING!

Another awesome book.

Another awesome book. I love this series every one of the books in the series is good. I love the lead characters and love the fact that even though the series have blood, gore and a lot of action you still get love and humor. I would like to say I'm ashamed to admit that I hopped Johns wife was dead or infected. Since it is Rachel thats been in the story since from the beginning I don't feel any connection or loyalty to his wife Cathie. I would not mind if she died or turned I know it is a bad thing to say but I love John, Rachael and Dog together and now that she come in to the picture she is gonna complicate things.

WOW.................Just plain.............WOW!!!!!!!!!!

I got Voodoo Plague book 1 a few days ago and haven't stopped reading since. I just finished book 5 and was a bit irate when I saw that book 6 wasn't there to read. This series takes a whole new approach to a zombie (I know, the infected) apocalypse and just keeps you turning the pages (or swiping the screen in my case). I rarely find a series these days that keeps me so enthralled while reading it. And add to that, that Mr. Patton doesn't feel the need to use the first 2 chapters to tell us what happened in the previous books. Your loss f you don't read in order. Can't wait for book 6 to arrive on my Kindle!!!!!

Well, book five is done, leaving me with yet another hair-pulling, cliffhanger of an ending. The plot, as they say, has most certainly thickened now that Katie has entered into the great scheme of things. Katie being John's wife. Where does that leave Rachel? Roach is an unbelievably slimy character with no redeeming qualities what so ever. John, Rachel and Dog move from one disaster to another, from the infected hordes, to the Russian army, even drug cartel gangs. Whew, the roller coaster never stops. Definitely on to book 6.

Not much I can add with this second reading, I've forgotten several details from the first read and am enjoying a lot of it as if for the first time.

Oh the tension!

Out of all the books in the series thus far, this one has the most constant tension. The infected, the bad guys, the near misses! Honestly, I can't wait to read the next book hoping one or two of the plot avenues are resolved - especially the one involving a certain Captain Roach. The man needs to die, plain and simple.
The love story aspect of the series is about to reach new levels, which is interesting and emotional.
Five stars once again! This series never disappoints!

Apologies for not leaving feedback

However in my defense, again, against my better judgement you have hooked me with this series. it's well written and as patriarch of a huge mix of military family I am thoroughly enjoying your work. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the next book. Thank you....

Mr. Patton's books are cinema worthy!

Dirk Patton is my new favorite author. I'm very particular about my books looking only for fast paced, thrillers and dramas and this author doesn't disappoint. I'm also a Walking Dead fan which attracted me to his books. I'm on to the next novel in the series happy I have at least five more to go.
