Excerpt from Travelers & Traitors:

"Leon lifted his nose out of his book to gaze upon the orange glow dancing across the horizon as the sun escaped behind the Ryston Mountains. There was little that could keep him from enjoying a sun set, not even a tale of St. Frederic’s adventures. He placed his book on the sturdy wooden table and leaned against the railing of a quaint balcony that sat atop his warm little cottage. Leon wondered what lie on the other side of the mountains. Some days he imagined what he might find if he were to follow the sun over the peaks. Most days, however, he was content to read about the adventures of others. Besides, there were plenty of adventures to be had right in the Ryston country land."

Charles is a natural leader with a mysterious past. A friend to the king, former assassin, and leader of the guild, he pulls people into his wake with every encounter. Leon is a naive young man setting out on his first adventure. His parents may have kept too many secrets from him as their pasts force him into trouble beyond his understanding. Hildebrand is almost a saint, she is that good and kind. Her devotion to nonviolence is at odds with everything around her. The guild will take Leon and Hildebrand in and give them a home, but what price will they pay for associating with assassins and thieves? This is a story of friendship and betrayal.

The battle between the gods is threatening the extermination of mankind. There is a rich backstory here that I hope the author will someday tell! At the center of the storm, Charles, Leon and Hildebrand struggle to find their way. But will their friendship hold true? It's worth the read to find out!

This is a Tolkien style high fantasy with several nods to my beloved Hobbit including a dragon town called Arendale on a lone mountain! If you are a Tolkien fan, then you will not be disappointed with this adventure.
