A teacher by day, Saint-Louis began her psychic medium work at her kitchen table with callers, but has since evolved into working at events which is where RSVP from Heaven commences, at the Golden Eagle Casino Swap Meet to be more specific.
What follows is rich descriptions of people from all walks of life searching for answers in their lives and to be connected one more time with loved ones whom have passed, sceptics included. With honesty, Saint-Louis reveals working such events is not all glitz and glam, but persistence and a lot of manual labor when setting up shop in various locales:
I peeked over my shoulder just as the attendant bent over in skintight khaki shorts, pulling white tube socks up to his knee caps.
Grasping the luggage piece, I heaved it over the barricades, sucked in my stomach and squeezed between them. . . . As I stepped aside, the luggage wheels jammed and my high heels sank into the damp ground. The contents clanked together inside my case as sweat began trickling down my back. This was the consequence for taking the ill-fated short cut. (69)
A Christian and believer in Heaven, "The best way to describe Heaven is serene. There is no illness, struggles and life battles. It's [Heaven] is a feeling of pure love and completion from how we lived our life on Earth" (76), Saint-Louis is forthright when telling of the naysayers she encounters with one woman telling Saint-Louis early on she was going to go to Hell for her work as a psychic medium, work ". . . against . . . [the woman's] beliefs" (3).
As for the grammatical and mechanical aspect of this book, my youngest would say this was the "sloppy copy," a copy still in need of a final revision. Missing quotation marks, wrong word choices, capitalization errors, and missing articles were abundant throughout as I had numerous Post-its throughout, a habit formed from teaching. A few examples follow:
" . . . I would openly question her reasoning on have [sic] a private session with me" (54).
"Erica's [sic] went on talking" (63).
And, when one is referring to the death of a loved one, the spelling is "lose," not "loose" as misspelled on pages 123 and 128.
In addition, I was curious to know how Saint-Louis became aware of her spiritual gifts and at what age as well as why she opted to transition more to readings at public events.
Overall, an interesting read which offers an ethnographical look into people searching for answers and as Saint-Louis summarizes in her Reflection, "Each of us can find solace in realizing there is another person out there who is experiencing similar situations" (201).

I loved this book and I must warn you to bring tissues. There were times I cried and a few times I laughed. I felt such a strong connection with the people Marie describes.

Favorite Quote: Come with me to a special enchanted place and nurture the child within. Breathe in confidence. Breathe out negativity.
I'm not usually into religion, cultural, or spiritual books - but this has changed my mind. I'm not saying I now believe in it all, but the way Saint-Louis has written and formatted this novel has certainly changed my idea of the people who DO believe.
Saint-Louis is speaking from the heart in a book originally written for her clients. She is honest about people's misgivings for her talent, and rightly so. A writer's one virtue is that they may be honest whilst still writing a beautiful work of fiction.
I follow her Facebook page and recently commented on one of her posts: "I'm reading it at the moment, I must say it is so amazing to hear about this subject from someone that actually does it for a living instead of assumptions made by passersby! Love it! ... When you're nervous, I was nervous! It's a brilliantly unique writing style and one that not many authors can convey."
I love the cover, she's an incredible writer and I can't wait to read the next one!
This book is not only spiritually uplifting, but also just a fun and enjoyable read which lifts the veil and shows the real thinkings of a psychic-medium. Full review: http://aussiebookworm.weebly.com/sain...
I just finished reading RSVP from Heaven! It is an awesome book for anyone interested in having a reading, understanding a little bit of a psychic mediums world and how the intuitive gifts work! Loved it! Auriel Grace of A Gang of Girls Radio
I don't normally read books like this. Non-fiction or based on true story books usually aren't my thing but I was pleasantly surprised by this book. There was one story that literally gave me chills and I had to stop the tears from pouring down my face. I can only imagine how people feel when a deceased love ones gets to speak with them one more time. Who wouldn't want one more conversation with a loved one that has passed, I know I would.
Marie is a psychic medium and she tells of readings that she has done at events. She tells of angry women tell her she's going to hell for what she does and of douchey guys that just want to amuse themselves. She also tells of the moments that really matter, the moments when people get closure and the happiness of hearing from a passes loved one. She also gives spiritual tips for mediums just starting out with their spiritual gift.
I think I was a believer of mediums before I read this so I wasn't too shocked by the things that she told. That being said I did not know that mediums could see more in a person's life than the dead so that was nice to know. I would love to have guidance with my professional life, what twenty something year old doesn't need a little guidance?
I really loved reading this book! It was so inspiring, I can't really explain why this book touched me but it did. I am so glad that I have this book on my bookshelf because I can see myself rereading this on days that I'm feeling down. It just made me feel really good. I highly recommend this book to everyone because even though it's a autobiographical book it's very interesting.
Overview: Marie is a world renowned Psychic Medium and her book is a collection of events and parties where she did readings.
Opinion: I have never had a reading done, but believe there are those out there who are gifted with abilities to speak with loved ones that have passed on and/or have visions of possible futures. Reading about Marie’s experiences intrigues me because she talks about how she prepares for her sessions, how the environment can effect her readings and how anyone can do what they set out to do. The events she chooses for this book take us on a journey that allow the readers to see how she goes from being shy with little confidence to being less shy and more confident in the end. She is helping people with her gifts in different aspects of life and enjoys doing it. I love the cover, the book and her work. Also at the end of each chapter she adds spiritual tips for your own session with a Medium or Psychic that I thought were interesting. My favorite chapter was one about Halloween, she goes to events sponsored by Playboy, Maxim and Hustler for a long weekend. A girl asks to contact her grandfather, whom she had comforted until he passed. That is something that resonates with me as I would love to talk to my great-grandparents, and grandparents again. It does rank a 4.5 out of 5 simply because there were a few missed editorial errors and sadly the back cover was misaligned so part of the words were cut off, but not bad enough that it is unreadable.
***THIS BOOK WAS PROVIDED TO ME IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW***
This is the first book from Marie Saint-Louis I have read and if you are interested in either auto-biographical books or books about psychic experiences you should definitely pick this up.
Although the writing style didn't always connect with me the words and the stories told did. From the anger from people who don't understand to the amazing and touching experiences as she is able to bring closure and hope to so many I feel that this woman is truly gifted.
I think perhaps my favorite bits were the little spiritual tips at the end of each chapter. Whatever your beliefs these are wise words to live by.
A solid 4 stars from me and a hope that one day our paths will cross in person .

Marie Saint Louis proves herself again and again to believers and non-believers that our loved ones are indeed watching, listening and caring for us from a spiritual plane. The manner in which she receives information from loved ones is insightful and at times humorous. She candidly describes her readings and I found this refreshing. At the same time, she doesn’t try to change or alter the reader’s beliefs. But rather provides an objective point of view, proving herself again and again, that she is a gifted spiritual medium.
I really enjoyed this book. The author has a wonderful sense of style and I loved the humor. Her journey to open herself up is not just interesting it is unique, Read it ! ! ! !
