Rapport is a style of communication. To become an expert at rapport we need to talk and behave the same way as the target of our social interaction. Applying the suitable style and pace of speech will enable us to connect in deeper ways that people without rapport can.

The book teaches the importance of rapport and its application in real life.

Have you gone in for a job interview lately and feel like you were unable to connect properly with the interviewer and knew you weren't going to get the call to come back for a final interview? Have you ever tried to talk to someone you were romantically interested in and ended up alone or even worse with a fake phone number? Have you ever gone to a party or any other type of social gathering and couldn't strike up a good conversation with anyone so you ended up the person that sits alone and leaves early?

What you may be missing is the the ability to develop a good rapport with others. What is rapport you ask?

Rapport is a lost art. So much time is spent in emotionless chat rooms or surfing social media websites that face to face communication has become uncomfortable for many. Rapport is something that can happen instantly, like in a "we just clicked" situation. Or, rapport can be built slowly, like between leaders of a community and their constituents or new managers and their employees. Rapport is a comfortable feeling that any number of people involved in any type of situation share between them. It can be a romantic, business, or just a platonic friendship. "Rapport" by Gabriel Angelo can definitely help you learn the proper communication skills to develop an instant rapport between yourself and a prospective employer. It explains how to develop, sharpen, and put these skills to work for your advantage. It is very well written and should help open the doors for the reader when it comes to face to face communication.

I really, really enjoyed reading this book. I’ve been reading more and more books about how to build good, lasting relationships, of all types, and this book is definitely a good addition to my collection. It reminded me of the warm, inviting way that Dale Carnegie’s ‘How to Win Friends and Influence People’ is written and laid out. There are a lot of good examples, references and exercises included and it even breaks down building rapport in professional and personal situations, including romantic. And, who can’t use a little assistance in learning how to best navigate the love playing field? Lol

This is a nice, quick read if you’re looking for something to give you some great tips on the go. It’s also nice to keep around for future reference. I bought mine for my phone and I know it will come in handy. Especially the section with the exercises. There’s a line that says “Do not fidget,” and it made me chuckle because I know that I do that far too often and it can be damaging to building solid rapport as Mr. Angelo points out. If you’re on this page, that means you must know you have some issues with rapport-building that you’d like to work out and I wholeheartedly recommend this one because it’s short and succinct. I didn’t have time to re-read Dale Carnegie’s book, so this was a great surprise find.

Throughout my life I have enjoyed strong relationships not only with my family and friends, but also with my coworkers. Also have the opportunity for some of the those relationships turn into lifelong friendships. However, I have felt for some time that there was something missing. Some part the was being left out of the equation that could and would make these relationships that I have even stronger. So I started looking for that missing part and came across this book and liked what it had to say.

This book starts out with the basics and helps you to build a firm foundation and understand what rapport is. This foundation is than strengthened by key definitions of rapport along with key ideas and concepts. Then once the foundation is built this books starts to add the different levels of how to fully develop this skill of how to use rapport in everyday life.

This book allowed me to see what i was doing well and then how to improve it to make it even better. The steps and ideas that are in this book are easy to follow. Taking the advice from this book was also easy to implement into my life and did not cause any added stress. This book also was a quick read and was presented in a fashion where I was able to remember the most important chunks of information.

This book has helped me with my shyness!

With being extremely shy, I have a difficult time connecting with people. My friend uses Rapport techniques all the time and he can talk to anyone and get an instant connection with them.

Before reading this book I only knew about the mirroring technique but now I have learned so many others as well. I have been slowly putting these techniques into my everyday actions and I honestly have been seeing an improvement. I don't feel like that super shy little girl anymore.

Not only will this book explain to the many techniques of interacting with people, it also has a list of techniques to practice at home with family or even by yourself. The at home techniques are great and I was really happy that I could "practice" before testing out my new skills in public.

I adored this book. It was short and concise, but full of invaluable information. It was simple to read, but easy to apply the tips to my life and the way that I communicate. This book is full of important life lessons that I needed to know, and reading Rapport: The Art of Connecting People and Building Relationships was a huge help in connecting with people from my family members to my bosses and coworkers. This book was a lifesaver.
In this one-stop shop of a novel, everything you could ever need to know about Rapport is covered. The book is broken down into chapters that cover everything: The Importance, The Science, The Development, The Relationships, The Applications, The Practices, and The Establishment of Rapport. All in all, if you're looking to better make connections with people, Rapport: The Art of Connecting with People and Building Relationships is the book for you.
