When Jack Harney and Curt Noble opened their detective agency, they expected to investigate the occasional cheating husband or minor theft. Instead, they’ve somehow found themselves, once again, investigating not one, but two grisly murders.
Nene and Gaga Albright; one sweet, one sour, both suspicious of the new tenants above. Strange things are happening in the apartment across the hall. Are the new tenants eccentric, or just plain crazy?
Can Jack and Curt find the killer before he kills again? Will Nene find out what’s going on behind door number two, or die trying?
I get most of my exercise these days by shaking my head. Unknown author.
Boy, can I relate, but I try to focus on what's in front of me, usually cake. Da Dum Dum.
Anyway, I'm obviously an author. I served 20 years in the US Air Force and soon after retirement came up with the idea for my first book--which I promptly discarded. It was about insurance fraud and trust me, they make it very hard to steal their money, so I had to come up with a different idea.
Book one is mostly a romantic comedy with a murder mystery thrown in, and while I think it's pretty good especially for a first book, I discovered I enjoyed writing the mystery of the book the most.
So, books two through eight are mysteries.
All the books have a lot of humor in them.
With the exception of book two, which takes place on board an ill-fated cruise ship, my books are set in Reno NV where I spent my teenage years, or some of them anyway.
AWESOME READ!!!! This book was fast paced and keeps your attention from start to finish, and what a finish it was!! What a surprising end. Two murders at the dog park, and dogs are disappearing. When one of the tenants in the building Jack has his PI office asks for help in finding out who murdered his friend. Jack and Curt work to find answers when they are sure the police are not making it a priority. Nene and Gaga are up to their usual antics, and this book had me laughing out loud at the trouble those two find themselves in..... Jack has other things on his mind as well, when Amy comes back to town and tells him that she is going to have his baby. She is not too happy about it, and he's not really sure if he is or not, but they need to think about what is best for the baby. i am hoping there will be another book in this series. I really like the way MaryAnn Kempher writes and can't wait to see what she comes up with next!!!
I couldn't put this book down! "Play Dead" is another hit for this author, I've read all her books and like the others this one did not fail to be full of action, murder, humor, a little romance and dog napping! Jack Harney and Curt Noble are private detectives who have been asked to find a missing Chow Chow. They have also been asked to look into the death of an elderly man by o e of his friends. I don't want to give any more away so I'll just say that this book has many twists and turns and the end was a complete surprise! Great job MaryAnn!!
I've read all the books in this series and loved them! This book was very entertaining with several laugh-out-loud moments and enough twists, turns, and intrigue to keep you reading long after your bedtime. MaryAnn is adept at developing her characters and keeping you interested in their lives, just like they were old friends. Without writing a "spoiler", all I can say is that the party Nene and Gaga go to is worth reading the whole book! LOL! Thanks for another great book, MaryAnn. Looking forward to the next one!
This is book # 4 in Maryann Kemphers Mocha moonlight & Murder series You can read alone , I read all 4 in order to know more about GAGA & Nena. And Jack Harney who is One Hot single dude. This was the first one that I didn't totally see coming. Not totally. The wound is still to fresh for me to write about, but this tugged my heartstrings. No worries though, the Albright sisters are still there with their antics stirring up more trouble. Omgosh, I love them girls.
