Kandi Steiner is a USA Today and #1 Amazon Bestselling Author living in Tennessee. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. Her love for writing started at the ripe age of 10, and in 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.”

She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a hopeless romantic and found herself bursting at the seams with love stories she was eager to tell.

When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, planning her next adventure, or pole dancing (yes, you read that right). She enjoys live music, traveling, hiking, yoga, spending quality time with her family (fur babies included) and soaking up the sweetness of life.

i have to say i’m pleasantly surprised! this book actually managed to get greek life pretty right.

and i liked the episodic nature of the story and the characters were cool. only complaint was that a lot of the names kinda blurred together at the beginning for me... cassie skyler ashlei jess. you get the picture.

smutty scenes were good. plot lines a tad predictable. but overall i haven’t had this much fun reading a romance in a while.

Drama. Sex. Lies

Palm South by Kandi Steiner is one of those addictive reads you don't want to put down! It centers around seven college students that are all in sororities and fraternities. I already knew about some of these characters, seeing as I've read Skyler's stand-alone book Black Number Four, so it was a lot of fun for me! I'm glad I made time for this one and I can't wait to read season two!

Have you ever picked up a book and immediately knew that it wasn't for you? I am ashamed to say that I put this book on my imaginary "Nope." shelf a few years ago. Anything that promises me to read like a TV drama makes me want to seek professional help. I have seen The OC and I do not want to read that in book form. Drama. Lies. Sex. Uh, no thank you.

Everything changed when I realized that this is written by the lovely Kandi Steiner. She has written two books that have really had an impact on me. They were instant favorites. I mean, I don't think she can write a bad story. It's not possible. Because of that reason, I removed this from my "Nope." shelf and added it to my TBR. I had been waiting for the right time to jump into this series and bringing in the new year with Kandi just felt right.

Welcome to Palm South University.

In this season, we follow around seven PSU students - from upperclassmen to freshmen. We get to see the newbies struggle through rush week and watch the Bigs pick a Little. The real drama, however, starts when we learn that everyone has secrets. Someone is smitten with their Big's boyfriend. Someone is realizing she has feelings for her sorority sister. Someone is hooking up with her professor's GA. Someone is challenging his fraternity's president. They are quickly learning that lying and pretending isn't easy. The truth is starting to come out and everyone has something to lose.

5 ADDICTING STARS!

I devoured this book in one sitting. It has been a few days since I finished it and I'm already dying to get my hands on season two. However, I hear that there is a book that this series branched off from, so I may read that first. All I know is that I made the right decision to read this series. And to think that I almost never picked it up... Lesson learned.

I went into this book without knowing anything except that it was about university and the Greek life.

You know that show Gossip Girls? Not the books because I never read the book, but I LOVED that show, this book reminds me of it.

I HIGHLY recommend reading the boxset. I think each book is like a little novella and there are 6? This combines each one and it makes for easy reading.

I had no idea there would be 7 POV’s and to my surprise it’s not hard to follow. I usually have a hard time in following storylines if there are too many things going on. The book is really fast pace and sure there are some characters you love and some you don’t care for.

If you kind of want to have a somewhat relaxing reading and not really get sucked into a heavy storyline, then this book is for you. It’s a little of everything to keep you entertained.

BELOW is a somewhat spoilerish review on my feelings of the characters (so I don’t forget)….

I enjoyed the book a lot and it was an overall pleasant read with TONS of stuff going on, but the book doesn’t finish. This is only the first semester. I know total bummer.

Cassie – I LOVE HER!!!!! She’s the nerdy girl who is pre-med and is all goodie. She was the first POV I read and I wanted more and more of her. I could have totally read the whole book by her. Her crazy crush on Adam is so torturous! I want her to be with Adam (even though he doesn’t deserve her). Oh and when she

Bear – I liked him at first because I thought he was going to be the “hero” of the book, but his family problems are JUST BORING. It’s so obvious the money he is sending home is going to drugs. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out. I also think his relationship with Skylar is odd. There’s no such thing as a “little sister” friend for horny college boys. And when he publicly,

Jess – I LOVE her storyline and it’s totally hot and epic. I want more and more. *Panting like a dog* I can totally read her as her own book. I’m a mega fan of the student / GA storyline.

Skyler – Not my favorite character. The whole poker thing is a meh storyline and I totally don’t like the way she hooked up with Adam. She should have used common sense and realized Cassie was crushing on him hard. I’m all for powerful girls, but she rubs me the wrong way. I could NEVER be her friend in real life or even consider her as a big

Adam – What he is doing to Cassie is KILLING ME. What he is doing with Skylar is disgusting.

Erin – I mean who? Did she have a storyline? I guess she did. The ending was pretty funny and I’m curious to see where that goes.

Ashlei – Her storyline is ridiculous and my least favorite. Who cares that you pole dance? Her taking coke was stupid. Her whole drug storyline is stupid. I will say a FF storyline is different, not my usual cuppa, but I mainly skim her part anyhow.

My main question is if the story ends at the third season or not. I think I will take a mini break before I dive into season 2a

I've been wanting to read a Kandi Steiner book for some time now (I thought I would be starting with On the Rocks), but when I saw that the Palm South University series is pitched as Gossip Girl meets Riverdale with a dash of Friends, I instantly downloaded a copy of the first book, Rush (it's available on Kindle Unlimited for those who are interested!). I'm pleased to say that it really does read like an episode of a CW show! Rush is very quick paced and has a large cast of characters. At first I felt a little bit overwhelmed by how many perspectives there are, but I felt fully invested in everyone pretty quickly. I'm amazed at how much story we got in so few pages from each. Rush focuses on the Greek life at Palm South University and begins with students rushing. I can't speak to the accuracy since there was no Greek life at my college, but it was a really fun to read about (especially since there isn't any hazing- it really paints their experience in a positive light). I really appreciated the focus on friendship and how relationships change as you get older. There was one story line that seemed a bit unbelievable to me, but I still had fun reading about it and I'm definitely looking forward to picking up the next book and seeing how everything progresses. I'm also hoping there will be a little more romance in later books. The hook ups were definitely more fun and casual in this first installment.

I thought this was an ok read, good intro the series. I felt like it had a unique format (it’s written like an episode) but I couldn’t get as connected to the universe as I’d like. This was because there were 6 different POVs so I was confused with who was who up until about 20% into the book when I got used to the characters. It just felt like there was a lot going on. Since I wasn’t in anyones head for a longer period of team, I didn’t grow that attachment to characters like I usually do. I didn’t hate the book but I didn’t love it either. With that said, as I got more into the story, I began to understand more and even enjoyed the drama! There was so much going on! One thing I will say is that the characters are really likeable and the drama makes it fun. It makes me want to know what’s going to happen next! This read was ok, but i will be continuing the series :) I’m hoping the next couple books will be easier reads since I was adjusting to the format and characters

This was such a fun read! I really enjoyed how Rush was written in episodes like a tv show and had a lot of fun following the different characters in this book. Even though the plot was sometimes a bit predictable, I still really enjoyed this novel and can't wait to read the sequel and find out what happens next.

Great start to the series!! I’m going to keep my reviews to just my thoughts on each book since they can’t be read as standalones.

Overall Thoughts on Rush:
- I hope Cassie grows up cause she should’ve known Clay was bad news.
- I feel so bad for Ashlei (IYKYK). She should not be on the hook for all that money by herself.
- Jess needs to stop being salty and make time for Bo.
- Bo and Ashlei 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
- Adam knows he wants Cassie so I don’t know why he wasting time with Skylar.
- Bear is literally a teddy bear and I hate how his family uses him. I can see why him and Skylar are besties because they go through similar things.
- I’m interested to see what happens with Bear and Erin…..
- I hope Cassie don’t talk to Paris anymore cause that girl was a bitch.
- Jess and Jarrett 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵, I hope they get serious!

I’m clearly loving this series and all the PSU drama is right up my alley 😂😂😂. Kandi’s writing is always so addictive and I love the episode format she is using to write each book! It’s like watching TV!

I read this book for the PSU readalong and I really enjoyed it. It is basically like an addicting tv show in book form. The TEA was HOT the entire book! It left off on a wild cliffhanger and I cannot wait to read the second book next week! My favorite character right now is Jess. I think there are a lot of similarities between us! This book was very wattpady in my opinion which i don’t mind because I LOVE WATTPAD. The writing was okay but the drama kept me hooked! I really enjoyed it with me starting college next month it’s getting me excited! This is the perfect series for me read before i go in august!

This was a quick and easy read about drop-dead gorgeous college students randomly hooking up while being the bestest of friends on the planet for each other. My college experience was quite a bit different from that. Most of my time was spent actually going to class and studying, not drinking and screwing everything in sight. I doubt I would have finished college if I had went after it like these characters did. You can’t have a mind full of what total hottie am I going to bang next when you are attempting to cram for a final.

The writing was simple to follow and the characters were basic and easy to like or hate depending on how the author wanted you to feel. It worked well as an in between other books kind of read and I enjoyed the brief campus tour at Humpsville University.

OMG! I had to give it an extra star for getting me out of a reading slump!

Before picking this book up, I haven't read in months. *inserts crying face* But when I did, I read this book so fast, I could not believe my eyes. So far this is definitely the best Kandi Steiner book I have ever read and I can already tell that the series is only going to get better from here.

First let me just point out HOW LONG I have waited for an audiobook to come out and literally scream when it finally happened. XD So I maybe late to the party, but better late than never right?

I really love how it was so freaking easy to follow along 5+ characters and being in each of their POV and this literally reads like a tv show no lie. I just wished it was a tad bit longer so we could have more drama, but I already know there definitely will be way more in the next book. This has really gotten me excited for books again so it deserved an extra star (otherwise it's a 4 star read for me).

Highly recommend to those looking for a college drama book you won't be able to put down.

Going into this one, it was pitched to me as binging your favorite TV show on Netflix. Now, after reading PSU, I could not find a better way to explain it!

Palm South University is gearing up for another school year, which means it's time for rush season. In other words? Parties and hookups galore with relationships and friendships forming and breaking within the blink of an eye. Seven students learn to forget their lives at home while losing themselves in the vices college has to offer.

Normally I don't like it when there are more than two POVs, but I loved all of the characters in this book that I didn't mind how we got into the minds of seven of them. This read so much like a TV show because there were so many main characters whose stories all intertwined and affected one another. While I did favor some over the others (I loved Jess and Cassie and Adam), there wasn't a single main character who I disliked. And talk about the drama! So much crazy stuff was going down in this book and I gobbled up every second of it.

While the ending was a little bit extreme and hard for me to believe, I still enjoyed the various dramatic elements our characters had to face. This was definitely a look at the crazier side of college, which made it so much like watching a drama-filled show about college (like Greek!). I'm definitely excited to pick up Season 2 and can't wait to see what happens to these characters during their second semester at PSU!

*Book gifted by author in exchange for an honest opinion*
I actually requested this book, because the blurb interested me. This is also my first "serial" so, I am sorry, if my review isnt typical for serials.
This series covers 7 different characters and their experience in college. The book/books reads like a tv series, which I believe was the intention. The books read a bit like gossip girls meets, pretty little liars meets Wild things. There were some characters that were more interesting than others, and they are all connected through a web of sex and plenty of lies.
What I hated/didnt like......the gratuitous inclusion of the "drug issue" into the story. I don't feel the story line necessarily needed this. It felt a bit forced.
And, because the story covers SOOO many people, it never really lends itself for getting to know the characters, or having them well developed. There is a sprinkle of development, but nothing that makes you feel like you have an investment in the characters.
The writing worked for what it is trying to be, which is fluff/entertainment value. It's a fun, light read, so I will def turn to the next episode because it is way more enjoyable than the Housewives of whatever.

I decided to participate in a readalong of this series this month that several people are hosting over on Instagram in anticipation of another book being released this month. I went into it completely blind. I didn't even read the synopsis of it. This is my first book by this author and after I finish this series I will definitely be reading more from her.

The way this is written is so unique. It's written like a dramatic TV series and I am pretty sure this is the first time I have read something like this. While reading it I was getting Greek vibes. That is a TV show I was obsessed with several years ago.

It's written in episodes and we follow 7 different characters. It was a little difficult keeping up with who is who especially with there being other characters mentioned that aren't the main 7 but luckily at the beginning of each chapter it tells us whose POV it is so that made it a little easier.
This book is full of drama. Like Tons of drama and while some of the stories were annoying I couldn't help but to be drawn in by all of it. I'm hooked and I have to know how things play out for these characters. Luckily I am already on to book 2.

PSU1

The PSU series is a 4 book New Adult series set in college in South Florida. It revolves around 7 college students and the story is told in alternating chapters of each of the 7 main characters while all their stories and lives overlapp and interconnect

The main character's are

Cassie - the freshman choosing which sorority to join in

Skylar - the easy going, no strings attached, fun loving good time girl

Bear - the protective, older brother type of guy who is just trying to have fun in college and stay unattached while avoiding family drama that seems to follow him

Adam - the hot Fraternity guy who is trying to figure out if he has time to date or just wants to have fun while helping promoting his fraternity

Jess - the sexy, flirty all round fun girl who isnt one for commitment but might ended finding more than she is looking for in a hot hookup

Erin - the busy bee type who is too focused to let her guard down until one day she does and ends up in a heart breaking and unimaginable sitiuation

Ashlei - a Sorority sister who is following her passion wherever it may lead her

Ive honeslty never read a series like this before and I absolutely love it. I'm sooooo obsessed and addicted

The story is written in episodes and feel like you are reading your favourite binge worthy netflix show. Its full of drama, angst, lies, secrets, fun, its incredibly sexy, sweet, takles some hard hitting topics, emotional at times but over all a really good time. Its so easy to read and I found myself emotionally invested in every single character and want more stories from all of them

Episode 1, centers around Cassie and Paris who have finally arrived at Palm South University.

Paris can't wait to pledge, but Cassie isn't too sure it's the right path for her.

What is set in motion is an exciting new year, where students embrace the unwritten motto of Palm South University: drama, sex, and lies.

Kandi Steiner pulls you into this series and makes you feel like you're watching a TV series... The stories are short, but keep you hanging for more.

I can't wait to see what adventures this group has.

Rush is the first book in Kandi Steiner’s Palm South University series, and it wasn’t at all what I’d expected. I had expected the standard college romance, but this was so much more. We do not follow one couple, instead we follow an entire group of friends and get to see the ups and downs that come with college life.

This is one of those addictive reads that pulled me into the story in so many different ways. I adored how different the characters were, how many different elements there were to the story, and I could not put it down. I could not name a single favourite, as I adored everything. Each detail was different, and it kept me turning the pages at an insane rate.

There were a few things that were never taken as far as they could have been – I felt there were some elements that were introduced just to add another element to it – but this was not enough to lessen my interest. I loved how much there was in this one, and I’m eager to see how everything develops.

Without a doubt, this was an insanely addictive read that has me desperate for more of the series.

This was just ok. I thought this was supposed to be super angsty and a lot of drama, but this wasn't the kind of drama I thought it was going to be. This was just really lack luster. If I didn't own the next one, I'd just move on. Let's see what Anchor has in store before I commit to the rest.

U CAN’T DO THAT BRO.

TELL THEM THE TRUTH.

The weather isn't the only thing heating up in South Florida. At a school where fraternities and sororities don't exactly play by the rules, relationships are bound to be tested. Parties and sex are definitely key ingredients in the Palm South recipe, but what happens when family issues, secret lives, and unrequited love get tossed in the mix? Follow Cassie, Bear, Jess, Skyler, Erin, Ashlei, and Adam as they tackle college at a small, private beach town university. Written in television drama form, each episode of this serial will pull you deeper and deeper into the world of PSU. Where the sun is hot and the clothes are scarce, anything can happen."

This book was addictive. When the blurb tells you it's like a Netflix show that you can binge, it's not lying. Once I got started I couldn't stop and I was compltely wrapped up in the world of PSU. I wish this was a Netflix show, it was just that good. The characters all had their own interesting story, and they all intertwined with each other.

I liked how you got several point of views from all these different characters. Usually more than two is a little too much for me, but it didn't feel that way with this book. I wasn't confused, and it was easy to keep everyone's point of view seperate from the other. All the secrets swirling around in these fraternities and soroities made my head spin, literally everyone had a secret they were keeping. People were harboring feelings for others and pretending like they weren't, some had double lives, some had forbidden love going on, everything pulled me and kept me turning the page.

"There are way too many secrets floating around PSU right now, and I'm determined to start uncovering them. It's time to hone in on my friends and reveal their truths."

I don't want to go too in depth into characters in this review, because I really feel like you all should read these books yourselves. There were a couple characters that really stood out to me. I really like Cassie, I felt like she was innocent and naive and after this first book I hope she gets a backbone and really stands up for herself. I also really liked Adam. I think he has feelings for one person, but is sticking witht he person that he THINKS he has more in common with, I'm hoping as the series goes on he changes his mind and sees what is right in front of him.

"It's strange how some memories are fleeting, almost gone the moment they happen, and others are burned into our brains and locked on replay."

Overall, I'm giving book one 5 STARS. I freaking loved it. It was addicting, it had great drama and angst, but it also had some feel good parts. I can't wait to see how these characters grow and develop as the series goes on! Kandi really knocked it out of the park with this one!
