Jared Albright is the guy I've had a crush on since I was a freshman in high school. He's outrageous, flirty, and even when he makes mistakes, I don't have to look very hard to forgive him. But the truth is, for as fun as he is, he's really guarded and I just don’t know if I can break down his walls.
Nicole Davis is someone from my past I had forgotten about until she literally runs into me on the South Shore boardwalk. And now, well, she's not the freshman girl I rescued one night; she's a woman, a beautiful one I can't help being attracted to. I just don't know if I can let her in. I know I'll hurt her and it's the last thing I want to do.
Great summer read! Interesting, with conflict that's not too heavy and it leaves you feeling good. I love the characters. They're well developed and their character traits are appealing. I love all of Michelle's books, and this one is no different.
I'm a bad reader. I've been putting off writing reviews lately for amazing books that deserve them. So with that said, I'm happy to hop back on the review horse with this beautifully sweet book.
That Fall finally gives us Jared's story. The funny and amazing side-kick we met in That Summer. Jared naturally comes with a semi sized suitcase full of baggage. He's commitment shy and terrified that if he ever allows himself the chance to fall for someone he'll break their heart in two.
This all changes though, when by chance, he runs smack dab into a young woman whom he never really paid much mind to in the past yet can't get off of his mind now. Nikki has been in love with Jared all her life. He's that guy that you stared at in class and in the hallways all through high school but never had the balls to approach.
Slowly, but surely these two find their way one another over the course of the fall in their little town.
This is my third book from this author and I can say without a shadow of a doubt it is my favorite yet. The story itself is never rushed or forced. These two fall into one another at a natural pace. They deal with the ups and downs of getting to know someone in a believable manner which makes you root for them throughout the entire book.
The book alternates between Nikki and Jared's POV which I love as a reader because it allows you to get so much more of the story than had it just been told from one perspective.
I truly enjoyed That Fall and can not wait to read what comes next from this author.
Michelle does it again! I was so so excited when she announced that there would be a book about Jared and this book was perfection. Even more of the goofy, yet fun loving Jared we know, but lots more of his emotional side thrown in. We get a look into his past, his relationship with Jake's family, and why he and Remy get along so well. We also get to meet Nikki, a girl who has been crushing on Jared since high school. She is sweet and caring and the Jake to Jared's Remy. But what I am most anticipating coming off of this book is a book for Jared and Jake's little sister, Kylie. That Winter maybe? Please Michelle, PLEASE!
I highly recommend this quick read for anyone looking for that perfect little summer romance. Don't let the title fool you; it doesn't have to be read only in fall.
