Author Note: HellKat is a fusion of opposites attract romance with a high-octane heroine, treacherous family drama, and deep sibling rivalry.
"Life is not a rehearsal. Ditch the script." -Robyn Roze
Robyn published the Keeper Series in 2013, a new-adult romantic suspense story with an independent heroine determined to set her own course. That same year, Robyn shifted gears and wrote a novel with a seasoned cast: Chain of Title. Readers were loud in their demand for a sequel to the romantic suspense story, and Shayna and Sean’s unconventional love story continued in 2020 with Unchained. In between those two stories, HellKat launched in 2015 with another older, feisty female lead: Kat James, a woman with a head for business and a family that could cost her everything. HellKat has ranked in the top 20 on Amazon in the Romance/Mystery category and in the top 100 in the Romance/Suspense category.

Wow!!! I am truly shocked, this book totally caught me off guard. Talk about family drama, this is like a scandalous TV show. The romance is intense and off the chain, love Tucker, he is so straight forward and determined, he accepts Kat as is, no he doesn't sugar coat, he just keeps it real and knows that whatever happens they are stronger together. Kat is smart and driven, she refuses to get caught up in her family name & money, she very independent like that. This apple fell far from the tree, the similarities in family drama only brings them closer. When the can of worms is opened there is Hell to pay and only the strong will survive. Very gripping, entertaining story that reveals that not so pleasant side of being privileged, very shocking turn of events.
I was provided a copy of the ebook by Candid Book Reviews.
Oh my god. What a trip this book has been. I'm only sadden because it had to end. This book has everything a suspense thriller needs and then some. It may get slow in some parts but it will make it up in the next couple pages.
Kat is a woman to be reckoned with. She is a HellKat on wheels and more. Always the black sheep of the family. She does whatever she wants and when ever. Regardless of the family consequences that will rain down upon her at family dinners. She knows that they are all hidding something but what? When she meets a handsome cowboy stranger named Tucker in a restaurant, she can't help but feel attracted to him. And what he does will open her eyes wider than then were and then some to the world around her.
This book is so intense you'll feel like you're on a tilt-a-whirl ride.
Kat and Tucker's story is an intense one... this author says she wanted to fog up my kindle, well job accomplished. From the very beginning this couple was doomed: started out as a complete challenge, a battle of wills, opposites, and they weren't each other's "type". Then throw in lies (omission = lie)... well you're just asking for disaster. I truly love Tucker's never give up attitude, and his alpha male dominance... doesn't hurt that he's one hot sexy cowboy either (LOL). Kat's strong will, independence, and snarky sarcasm are inspiring. Happy reading : )
When I came across what this was about it pulled on my interest. It is also the first time in reading this author for me. Kat is the kind of female you would not mind having as a friend. Tucker is the kind of guy you wouldn't mind riding a spell with. She brings them together in a fabulous way. Even though polar opposites the two would be combustible. Being not so many perfect things the drama will unfold too. This author will bind you with these two with mystery and suspense while using family with it too. On the edge it will have you in many ways with wondering who will be left.
WOW 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I absolutely love this book. I don't know how to express that in words. I love Kat and Tucker both are very strong characters it was a fun sexy read. There was loads going you never got bored. I have read others books by this author. I have loved Robyn's other novels.
Wow, what a great book this was! I couldn't put it down. There were tons of unexpected turns and twists, great character development, and of course an older, feisty female lead. I loved it! I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. Highly recommended!
Weirdly, the phrase that comes to mind for this book is 'I'm not sure what the point of it being written was'.
Granted it is marked 'book 1', but as it turns out... it's a serial, not a book. So for absolutely no reason other than a money grab, you have to buy two more books to find out what actually happens... why is that? That's because there was so much dragging ramble in this one that it wasted hours of our time telling us very little. Thank goodness it's an ebook and I personally didn't cost a tree it's life to read it.
So anyway, the h is an A type pretentious bitch, who has rebelled from her A type pretentious bitch rich family, but still seeks to please them with who she dates, so she has a 'list' to judge who is acceptable to date. Then, while she's being a rebel and flashing back to her free loving college days and flirting it up with a bartender while waiting for an important business meeting, the H, who is a bit OTT arrogant and pushy, but written as a sweetheart under it all, catches sight of her and tries to get her attention. He, with his long hair, t-shirt and jeans, doesn't make her list, so she doesn't even know he exists... He butts in and starts to rial her up and when her business meeting doesn't show up, they hang out and hook up for an out of this world ONS!
Next morning... The H shows up in her office to admit that HE was her business meeting, but knew she wouldn't give him a chance personally once she she found out, so he decided to take the chance to get to know her... Enter complete freak out, and 'you can fuck off now', even tho he doesn't want to.
6mths later, h has found the perfect list guy who everyone loves, but she feels no 'spark' with. She's trying to push herself to move things along with him, but isn't ready. Enter the H, who's been waiting for her to cool down and wants a chance. No, no, no, yes, but no sex! They hang out, have fun, decided to get it on again a month later, but they still have the issue of living in different states.
... Buy next book...
Grrr. So, not only does the book skip over a lot of the actual scenes, just like I have above, but half the stuff in the blurb isn't even in this book *cough* chapter.
Again, I'm not sure what this book was written for. It's not even like it was written for the sex or something as simple as that. All the scenes are done in a passing manner, and some are worse than that.

I really liked this one. I loved Tucker and how he was with Kat and how he accepted her for who she is and the dynamic between them. I loved how Kat was unapologetically herself. Strong and in your face. Tucker was strong and confident in himself and wasn’t intimidated by Kat, nor did he think she needed to change for him. Their families definitely left a lot to be desired and the issues with them were explosive and intense. "I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. When Kat, a very independent successful business woman meets Tucker, a strong hard working cowboy in a bar...sparks fly. What was suppose to be only a one night stand turns into much more. Has Kat finally met her match or will family secrets and drama drive them apart?
Overall, I really enjoyed this solidly written romantic story. It was chock full of mystery, suspense and dynamic characters. I would definitely recommend it.
This being my first read from this author I got to say that it was awesome!! Lots of mystery! Lots of lovin'. Lots of everything!! The characters are really relatable. You'll just fall head over heals for Tucker! Such a loving southern gentleman!!
Kat is thrown into her families deceitful company when her father dies suddenly. His only wish was that she take the company his father worked so hard to build and make things right. She will do everything to make the company right again after her brothers have used the company and their name to run illicit operations. A must read!!
This was a captivating book revolving around a love story between two very independent and totally opposite people. The NYC business woman, Kat, meets her match with a sexy Montana rancher, Tucker. These two share clever conversations and hot times between the sheets. The one thing they have in common is family drama. When I say Drama, it’s with a capital “D”! Family secrets, greed, jealousy, mystery, and lies is just the beginning of what these two have to endure. As secrets are revealed their safety is at stake.
This was amazing.. the characters... the plot.. the everything.. this was action packed and fast moving.. I loved Kat.. she was strong.. sexy.. wonderful and seemed to have everything. Tucker was sexy.. confident but not too confident.. and overall he was sexy and amazing. This was wonderful.. I loved it and im so glad i got to review it
Wow. This is my first read from this author and I so enjoyed it. It had everything I’m looking for: strong hero/heroine and an intriguing story line. I’m hoping Dan gets is own story. He totally needs one.
HELLKAT By Robyn Roze Reviewed by Terri Parks Allen
Money can bury a lot of secrets … until it can’t …
Kat James works hard. She used to play hard too. Now she’s reaping the rewards of her career and entrepreneurial ambitions as part owner in a successful New York company. Kat knows how to be a partner in business, but that skill hasn’t translated to her personal life. Men and relationships have always disappointed her. Not that it matters, because she doesn’t believe a woman can have it all, not without giving up her independence and identity; something Kat James will not do. If there is such a thing as having it all, then it’s going to be on Kat’s terms.
If there’s a man out there who can deal with that, she hasn’t met him yet …
Enter Tucker Williams. A cowboy who knows all too well about life’s ups and downs. He’s learned the hard way that control is illusory. So he meets whatever happens head-on, confronts it without flinching. Because he knows that’s his only chance of having control over anything, no matter how brief.
When his eyes set on Kat James, he glimpses a woman who believes she’s in control. A woman who feels like a force of nature. A woman who should be wild and free.
A woman who has forgotten how to be either …
When dangerous family secrets surface, Kat will confront the people who’ve irrevocably changed her life. But in the end, she and Tucker will battle a union of madness they could not have seen coming.
Family is supposed to watch your back, but sometimes they stab you in it instead.
Robyn Roze is becoming one of my favorite authors! I love her writing and she keeps you guessing. All of the characters are great and entertaining. Kat James is my new Heroine! Kat James is a spitfire and loves her independence and meets her match in Tucker Williams, the sexy cowboy. From page one, I was hooked and could not put it down. This was jam packed full with suspense, mystery, action and romance and you have no idea how it will end. I highly recommend reading! Thank you Robyn, you have another wonderful book!!!
4.5 Stars!! Smart, Sexy and Suspenseful! Reading this book was immensely refreshing and whole lot of fun!! There is so much to like and so much happening that I never once got bored. Romance, suspense, and family drama are all woven into an intelligent plot. Too often I have to suspend reasonable thinking while reading so I am pleased to report that no brain cells were lost in the reading this book!
The heroine, Kat, is a strong independent career woman who doesn’t believe a woman like her can find love without changing who she is. The hero, Tucker, is Hot as hell alpha cowboy/businessman who doesn’t want tame or control Kat but wants to set her free.
I love that Kat doesn’t wilt into a bowl of quivering jello with the first contact with Tucker’s dick. So often in romances, strong women are reduced to mindless idiots as soon as sex and love enter the picture. In Hellkat, Kat remains true to herself and learns that love doesn’t have to make you weak. It, in fact, can make you stronger!
I had only one issue with this book. There were a few times during very key points when the sex scenes faded to black that I would have preferred to have seen it through. It’s not that I needed a play by play of all the sexy details with every encounter but there is a deeper level of intimacy expressed during sex that I felt was missing at significant points in the relationship.
Ms. Roze excelled in giving her readers a story with likeable characters and a plot that is intelligent, suspenseful and entertaining! This won’t be the last I read from this author!!!
A suspenseful romance with more twists than a corkscrew, HellKat keeps the reader engrossed up to the final sentence in the book. Kat and Tucker have far more in common than either realised at their first meeting - a meeting that wasn't supposed to go anywhere other than a one night stand. After a crushing disappointment, Kat and Tucker agree to disagree and move forward. Before they can really get to know each other, Kat's family make their disapproval of their relationship known. However, Tucker has not entered the fray without having ammunition of his own, and after the first meeting with her family, the gloves are off. As the situation escalates, Kat finds that there are secrets she was unaware of and the animosity she has experienced at the hands of her family begins to make sense. The more she digs, the worse the situation becomes until her very life is in danger. After my initial reaction toward Tucker, which was one of distaste, I really began to love him as he showed his true colours. His unwavering support of Kat is enough to make any girl's heart melt. Kat is not an easy person to get along with as she is so goal orientated, but Tucker woos and draws her into rediscovering her more playful side. He is also protective to the point of risking losing her in order to keep her safe. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and wouldn't mind reading it again in the future. Chain of Title was the first book I read from this author. Followed that up with the sequel, Unchained shortly thereafter. Upon concluding the Chains Series, I just knew in my mind that those two books would be my favorite reads of the year. No doubt in my mind because Robyn Roze's books check all the boxes for me. * Strong, fallible and unapologetic leading lady. * Alpha male characters not afraid/intimidated to love and spend the rest of their life with said leading lady. *Hot romance. * Danger including a murder or two. * An ex lingering about. Those two books contain all of the above and much more including a fantastic story and superb writing. What I didn't expect to happen when I started reading HellKat . . . That HellKat would knock the Chains Series from the top spot of my favorite read of the year. That's just how much I liked this story, these characters and the couple.
The couple, Kat and Tucker's first meeting was highly enjoyable. Tucker, after spotting Kat dashing down the street and ear hustling her conversation with the bartender, knew exactly what he wanted. He just had to give Kat enough time to see it herself. But a lot happens in between their first meeting and the time they actually decide to give a relationship a try. ~ Serious company and family drama, life changing secrets and death.
I love this book and I love the author's storytelling abilities. Can't wait to read it again. FIVE STAR READ.
I have been a fan of Robyn Roze's since I first read Chain of Title last year. I enjoyed it so much I immediately followed it up by reading The Keeper Series which was also amazing. When I found out about the release of HELLKAT, I was ecstatic and I have to say it definitely lived up to my high expectations for it. Kat James comes from a wealthy family, but she has distanced herself from most of them. She enjoys life on her terms until she meets cowboy, Tucker Williams in a hotel bar and that's when things get start to get really interesting. The two of them have some serious chemistry and at times, I thought they were going to burn my tablet up! At first there's a lot of banter between the two of them, which I really enjoyed and Kat does her best to stay away from Tucker but to no avail. Robyn even included some mystery in the storyline and it makes for a lot of excitement and tension.
I can't wait to see what Robyn comes up with next. I love reading her books but I'm always a little sad when I finish one because her writing is so good I want it to go on and on.....Robyn writes intelligently and seamlessly. Her words have a beautiful flow to them. I often find myself re-reading sentences just to savor the way she strings the words together. She has a true talent for writing and in my humble opinion it's only a matter of time before she becomes a household name in the book world.

If only "fun and done" was ever as easy as it sounds in our heads right ladies? One night stands never quite work out the way they're planned, You're never suppose to see the guy again, never suppose to get the chance to stare regret in the face! Unforantly/Luckily for Kat this one is sure to have a surprise ending, one she never imagined happening! I loved the relationship aspect of the book, I sped right through the first third of the book and after they reconciled i almost felt like i read too fast! For some reason i feel like i got stuck at a dead end in the middle of this book, it felt like it dragged on and on and on and would never end, I was honestly afraid i wouldn't be able to finish it. Thankfully i stuck it out because the conclusion brought my opinion back up off the ground! The beginning and end of this book were really great, Although i found the "twists" pretty predicable and there's just something about the huge speed bump in the middle that drags it down! But overall I'm glad i got the chance to read this book!
I really REALLY loved Kat! Everything about her, I loved her attitude and how stubborn she was! Made this read really enjoyable!
I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars because it deserves at least 8 in my opinion. I had to force myself not to devour it in one day.
The characters were incredibly well developed, Kat in particular. I loved how she transitioned from a headstrong, independent, “I don’t believe in love” woman to this even more kickass and take names woman who learns that love isn’t weak. Tucker was perfect. He was alpha in some ways but he knew he’d met his match, so at times he had to back down. It takes a strong strong man to do that and it worked so well for Tucker’s character.
The plot was phenomenal. There was romance, mystery, family discord and so much packed into this book. You’d think it was too much, but nope. It all tied in flawlessly. I loved the twists that were put in. Questions were answered along the way and nothing was left hanging at the end. I highly highly highly recommend you go buy this book asap! You’ll love it!

Wow, just wow. This book was amazing! I really loved Tucker. He has so much strength and patience that you can't help but pull for him. Kat took a little bit to warm up to, but I loved her in the end too. She had her own issues to work through, but in the end she was able to do what was best for her. This is my second book by this author and I have yet to be disappointed. The suspense in this book just kept me so enthralled in this book that it was 3am before I knew it and I had to force myself to go to sleep. This book kept me guessing all the way to the end and I highly recommend it.
I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily reviewed this book. This is my honest review. This was a great romance filled with mystery and suspense. I started reading and couldn't put this down until it was finished. The characters had wonderful chemistry and their story kept me engaged. This is a must read.
I haven’t had so much fun reading a novel in quite a while. And never as much fun reading a romance novel. Perhaps because Hellkat is also a gripping mystery, filled with intrigue, deception, and danger amid the delicious desire and carnal coupling. But mainly because Robyn’s writing style is so delighfully humorous and pithy, with a wonderfully drawn strong female character.
The two main characters first of all, and then the story, swept me away. From their first encounter in a hotel bar in the opening pages, I was hooked, and Hellkat never let go. The narrative is fast paced and captivating, the language well crafted and witty, with none of the usual genre clichés. The scenes vividly painted, and the characters engagingly portrayed.
I am an unabashed fan of Hallmark Channel’s romance movies and Nora Roberts novels. Hellkat possessed the same flavor in abundance.
This was my first time reading Robyn Roze and I’ve become a fan. I sat down to start reading HellKat during a break from work and fully intending to go back to my job after a short while but couldn’t do it before I finished the story. It is THAT good! Luckily for me, I work from home but had to pull an all-nighter to make up for lost time. LOL
Robyn Roze’s characters are well developed, real and likeable while her storyline is plausible and interesting. I agree with another reviewer who said the sex scenes could have been steamier but then again I’m a fan of erotica and I understand HellKat isn’t in this genre.
Finally, I thought the way the author used POV was quite refreshing. I loved the switch from Kat to Tucker and back to her again because I’ve always liked knowing what different characters are thinking and feeling and I’m a bit fed up with first-person narratives lately, to be honest. haha
Hellkat the first Robyn Roze novel I’ve read and I absolutely loved it. Kat is the epitome of a strong female character. She’s independent, built her own company, and has no expectations towards a long term relationship – she doesn’t have time. Tucker is a wealthy man who took over the family business left to him. He lives in the wide open spaces of Montana. They are day and night. The way they meet had me doubled over in laughter. Robyn has an excellent touch for detail between their dialogue and using simple mannerisms and actions to bring out the story and the characters. The captivating plot places Kat and Tucker in a race against time and their families. I soaked in each word anticipating what would happen next. The suspense had me even when I knew what would happen, it still got me! Romance, suspense, mystery. This book has it all!
Yes! A heroine I can actually like. Kat is strong, independent and unwilling to lower her standards for anyone! That includes her drama-ridden family and any of a long list of just-not-the-one men.
The hero, Tucker, is a cowboy with spurs who thinks Kat's wild side is right up his Stetson. All he has to do is convince Kat that he's the one for her, and that might prove twitchier than a bull in a hen house.
Sparks fly, problems get solved, and lovers love, but not without some intelligent and suspenseful plot twists, crazy complications and satisfying character development. Move over milksops, HellKat's a keeper!
This is the first book I read from this author and loved it! Her female lead Kat is a strong, independent women who knows what she wants and how to get it until she meets Tucker. Tucker is totally different of what she "wanted" but their chemistry is undeniable from the beginning. I thought I was up for a romance book but got a lot more than that. The dialogues, the mystery and drama trap you in a way once you start reading you can't put it down. I will definitely be reading more from this author.
This book is funny, sexy and thrilling all mixed it one! This author knows how to write a book and make you beg for more. You fall in love with the characters from the very beginning. As a woman you want to be a HellKat like Kat James but also you want a piece of Tucker Williams. Tucker is my new book boyfriend! Thanks Robyn Roze for this fantastic book! I can't wait for more from you in the future I'm waiting very impatiently lol
This book is cute and entertaining, but focuses too much on the romance between the lead characters for the first quarter of the novel. All the other stuff the synopsis promises doesn't get built up until much later… in the second half. Also, the bad guys are just bad, very one dimensional. The writing was a tad repetitive, but aside from these negatives it was an engrossing story and the leads, especially Kat, were likeable.
This took me months to finish. This is one of the worst books I've ever read. How in the hell are so many people giving this 5 stars? The main character is super obnoxious, ruled by her hubris, bitchy, not funny, and all around horrible. Tucker is way too into himself in an un-charming way, not to mention a stalker. There is no character depth or development and the scenarios are super unrealistic. I am proud that I was able to keep myself from making this a dnf book.
