*unedited* excerpt from Stalker:

Frowning, I walk toward the door and notice it’s left open. Outside are red drops scattered across the floor. I lean forward, so I can scour the premise, and that’s when I notice the pool of blood lying on the porch.
My eyes widen and I scream.
Stumbling backwards inside the house, I slam the door shut with shaky hands.
That blood, is it Arthur’s? What’s going on? Is he here?
Shit, I knew it.
I immediately reach for my umbrella stand and fish out the rifle that’s hidden behind all the umbrellas. I should’ve been more prepared for this day, but I didn’t think it would arrive so soon. I lock and load the rifle, turning around quickly to surprise my attacker.
“Come out, you motherfucker,” I scream. “I know it’s you.”
“Hello Vanessa ….” His voice brings me chills to the bone. “Long time no see.”
“Get the fuck out of my house!” I yell, turning circles.
The voice is coming from everywhere, and I don’t know where he is. If I move, I’m afraid he’ll catch me.
All I hear is vicious, uncontrollable laughter. “Did you miss me? No need to be angry, I’m here now.”
“What do you want?” I scream.
“Oh … you know exactly what I want.” The grim harshness in his voice makes me tremble. “I told you I’d come for you. Ready or not, here I come, Princess.”
“No! Stay away!” I scream, turning to the hallway. I could swear his voice came from there.
But there’s nothing to be seen.
Except the filthy boot prints on the wooden floor behind me, leading into the hallway to the right.
I follow the trail into my living room, holding out my gun, ready to shoot if I must.
But then the trail suddenly ends.
My lips part in confusion as I wonder where the hell the dirt has gone. I can’t find the boots anywhere. And then I realize what’s going on.
Too late.
Something is pulled over my head, pulling me into the dark. A bag.
His hands twist and twist until I choke. The gun drops to the floor. I’m being suffocated, and no matter how much I claw at the bag, it won’t break.
The last thing I hear before I pass out is, “Playtime is over. You can’t hide, Princess. Now you’re mine.”

TITLE: Stalker
AUTHOR: Clarissa Wild
GENRE: Romance | Suspense
PUBLICATION: June 16th 2015
MY RATING: 3 1/2 STARS

3.5 Hot Twisted Gritty Stars

I've not read anything by this author before (hard to believe I am a Clarissa virgin) this book has been on my facebook newsfeed taunting me, Ive stalked this book like a stalker right from the get go and could finally put it to rest by one clicking this fukka today..

Very very easy to get into, kind of liked the present and past aspect of the story spoken in dual POV'S, more of a connection with the characters..I didn't find myself really getting that full on connection with the female character but I liked his sick twisted thoughts the most in this book..

“Fuck me once, I'll fuck you twice … then I'll bury you"

It's meant to be a dark, gritty read!! darker than anything she has written before!! It delivered the gritty but fell short on the dark for me..

It jumps from present to past so it's a book where you have to pay attention..it's starts off with Phoenix doing time..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

“Six months done, and four thousand five hundred and sixty days left in prison. “One way or another, she’s going to pay for what she did."

Hmmmm so after she befriended him at the age of eight when all other kids were afraid of him he paid back her friendship by stalking her ass!! damn!!

Monsters don't always lurk in the shadows. Sometimes they hide in plain sight.

PRISONERS ESCAPED

“Phoenix Sullivan and a bunch of other criminals have escaped prison and are on the loose”

Shit is going to start getting real “Maybe he’s already here, lurking, waiting to strike”

Well that was a surprise, twists and turns, hard to keep up at times with all that was going on, definitely keen to read the next book..

What a freaking ride! I didn’t see it coming, and I am so glad I was able to experience the twistedness of this book.

So, as the title suggests, there is a stalker who is also a killer (see previous book, but this is a standalone) but there are so many layers to the madness, it is like peeling an onion that is six feet across.

Each character in this book is a liar, a cheat and a whole bag of mess, but that is what makes you like them. I know it sounds strange, but you will see what I mean when you read this book. They all have their secrets and a plot for revenge, but who will make it out alive? I can honestly say, I did not see some of the things that happened turning out that way, and Clarissa did a number on my brain.

The sex in this book, Holy Mother of Baby Elephants… Make sure you are available to let go of some pent-up frustrations. Trust me, there is a lot of heat in this book, and if you are not tingling and frustrated at some point, you should probably go see a doctor. (I am not a medical professional.)

So, this book kicked ass. There were points that I thought should have been explored further (the assistant), but overall it was very well written and had me on the edge of my seat! ~ Devlynn, 4.5 stars

Deliciously bad…

If you haven’t read the prequel, Killer yet, you will want to as it builds to everything that comes next in this explosive follow-up story. But even before that, read the warning first! The author is not kidding when she says “This isn't rainbow sprinkles & unicorn fluff.” Take heed, she means it.

“You know me. Once a bad guy, always a bad guy.”

And Phoenix Sullivan lives up to this label as if he self-prophesied it. The irony of being taken down by what should have been a target is not lost on Nix, but doesn’t lessen his desire for revenge. Vanessa Starr didn’t know it but her past – all of it – was going to catch up with her in a confrontation that may finally break both of them.

There are so many dark twists and turns that I’m surprised there were any corners left to navigate as Nix and Vanessa both reminisce about their childhoods and the paths that led them to this time and place. Gritty and raw, some moments were so poignant I literally had to catch my breath to go on.

Events, peoples, circumstances – so much goes into what makes us who we are – both good and bad. And make no mistake; this couple is oh, so bad. If forced, however, they are honest about their motivations and their actions while being totally unapologetic about both.

“You just tried to kill me,” I say.
He tilts his head. “And you just tried to kill me.”
When I try to push him off me, he grabs my wrists again and slams them above my head.
“We’re both dirty f*cking killers, Vanessa,” he says.

Am I still uncomfortable with the actions and mindset of the hero and heroine? Yes, I can safely say that is true. It didn’t stop me, though, from being riveted to their story from beginning to end. If you want good storytelling, stomach-clenching tension, and characters you will never forget, you will want to read this incredibly twisted, pushing-the-envelope, mesmerizing read. ~ Diane, 4 stars

DNF @ 40%. I can't understand how this got so many 4-5 stars. Poor writing style and execution. The main characters and their personality are all over the place. I've read several dark romance stories... just wasn't sold on this one, unfortunately.

‘The spotlight is where I come to life; in the darkness is where my secrets lie.’

Well…wow….jumping straight from Killer into Stalker turned out to be one violent, eye-opening and gritty ride. I’m surprised anyone was left standing at the end. Where I felt slightly detached and only in like with the story and characters in Killer it felt like Stalker literally hit me across the head demanding I pay attention whilst Vanessa and Phoenix made me feel slightly sick, disturbed, morose and uncomfortable.

‘There’s nothing redeemable about us. Nothing that makes us good. Nothing that makes us worthy of love. Not me or her.’

I have to admit to having this macabre fascination with everything as I read. You know that feeling where you look around – thank the stars for the anonymity of kindle – as you’re reading thinking bloody hell I hope no one realises and think there’s something wrong with me. Yeah, it’s that kind of book!

‘For his love, I could die. For my love, he would kill.’

What was missing for me in Killer came to light in Stalker and I understood. This story was written with intense emotion and we get the background needed to shed a light on the why’s. The why’s interrupting a continual harrowing and intense circumstance that you want to look away from but can’t. I’m so incredibly wary of spoiling anything so I won’t even go there.

‘That woman…she’s mine for the taking now, and I’m coming for her. The hunt is on.’

‘She consumed me. She ruined my life. And I will destroy her in return.’

You guys all know those books that you shouldn’t enjoy, you’re ashamed to enjoy, and you’re embarrassed of your feelings for the ‘bad’ guy…the ‘bad’ woman. Well, this is one of those stories, if you read this review and think yes, I know what you mean then pick up this story! Now, it can be read as a standalone yet Killer is the prequel. The only thing I can’t decide on is whether I would have preferred to read Stalker before Killer. In some respects I think I would have enjoyed Killer more. But that’s probably just me, an individual preference. Kudos Clarissa Wild; this was one hell of a dark and fucked up ride!

‘…he still wants to kill me. Who wouldn’t, after what I’ve done. He just can’t. Whatever is left of his heart won’t let him.’

I got so tired of reading the H abuse the h. He kept her in a cage, dragged her through the house with his belt choking her, and repeatedly insulting her. (Sigh) Romance just isn't what it used to be.

Reading Stalker, for me, felt like a darker version of what Alice must have experienced when she went down the rabbit hole as the story leads us into the weird and disturbing world of Miles (Phoenix) and Vanessa.

I knew after reading Killer that these two characters had an abnormal outlook on life but it wasn't until I finished Stalker that I realised just how sick and twisted their lives had become. On the face of it, this story didn't progress outside of Vanessa's house but inside the house we experienced a different story as these two, let's face it, mentally unstable characters tell their twisted story from childhood to the present day; one psychotic episode at a time. What starts out as a sweet story of two childhood friends, albeit from different sides of the tracks, quickly descends into violence and darkness as they fight with each other, and for each other, as they struggle to live with the lives that were mapped out for them by others.

Vanessa is pulled away from Miles and towards a life of unhappiness thanks to her mother but it's not until the present day that Vanessa seeks recompense for the life cruelly bestowed upon her. Miles, now known as Phoenix, is after revenge following his entrapment and after getting out of prison, he sets off to find Vanessa to punish her for what she has put him through. The one thing that Vanessa and Phoenix don't expect though is their deep seeded love for each other which has been masked by hate for years.

I reek of fury, and rightfully so. All I can think about is making her suffer the way she’s making me suffer. Lock her up and hurt her. My fingers twist, grabbing the empty air as I imagine strangling her. I can already feel the bones crack.

I felt like my emotions were swinging like a pendulum reading this story. I loved Phoenix then I hated him. I hoped Phoenix would realise his feelings for Vanessa then I hoped she would kill him for how he treated her. Even as their emotions softened and their hearts warmed, it turned out to be a ruse and all part of the game they play out, using mind games of the highest calibre.

So, did I enjoy the story? Yes, it was brilliantly written and twisted enough to satisfy dark erotica lovers but something was missing for me. Maybe it was too complicated but then again it also felt too simplistic. The way the story mapped across what felt like a few days, in present time, and numerous years, in the past, added an exciting depth but there was definitely something that I've been unable to put my finger on that stopped me from fully embracing the storyline.

Clarissa's next work in progress has already captured my imagination especially as it seems to carry on with at least one *secretly praying for two* characters from Stalker.

This book isn't for the faint hearted though. It's violent, it's dark, it's abusive and covers scenes some readers may find distressing but for me, and others who enjoy a bit of darkness in their lives, this was a real treat.

Hmmm...I have read a lot of Clarissa Wild's books but I think this one is the darkest of them all. The mood is dark and foggy; the characters and plot complex.
I was lucky enough to read Killer before diving into Stalker and I think that was great because I got to know things that are not included in Stalker. I highly recommend it you start Killer first because it gives you a perfect intro to the story. You have time. ;))))
This book picks up right from where Killer left us. Phoenix is in prison, enduring Vanessa's revenge while planning his own vengeance. He has one and only purpose; to find Vanessa and make her pay for her lies and betrayal. He thinks of nothing else, he wants nothing else. His thoughts are dark and his intentions darker.

 photo phoenix_zpshvhjwtsp.jpg

There is just one problem: he is locked up. He has to get out of his cell and he will do anything to achieve that; even trust other people.

Vanessa is living a life of luxury. She is a star. She is wealthy and she has a man by her side. But is she happy? It seems like she is haunted by her past, by her mistakes...In reality she has no one. She is lonely and her relationship with her late husband's brother is anything but satisfying.

What I liked about this book is that we got to see flasbacks of their lives. We get to see how Phoenix and Vanessa met. We get to see how they were brought together and how they were torn apart. These characters are imperfect. They are not redeemable. They do not regret their actions; they do not search for forgiveness. They are two selfish people that despite everything have fallen in love. I have to admit that I was on Phoenix's side more and that is a novelty for me. I could not justify the heroine's actions and just when I thought that I would, something happened and changed my opinion again.
This doesn't mean that Phoenix was a saint. But I think part of who he became was Vanessa's fault. I don't think the author wanted to redeem any of her characters and I think that was great. We do not get a big moment that changes our perspectives. They are who they are. They love each other for what they are. Two imperfect people searching to belong somewhere.
My only complaint is that I kept expecting for something big to happen in the end...and nothing of the sort happened.

 photo stalkerteaser_zpsqynuewki.jpg

The book is dark and graphic. it contains themes that might not be for everyone. There are elements of captivity, abuse and a hero with a dirty mouth. Be warned. If you're a lover of the dark side, like me, then dive into it!

4 Stars from me!

I can honestly say that I’m completely torn about this book and how to review it.

On the one hand, it kept my interest and had me racing through the pages to find out what happened. Anything that gives me one disclaimer after another, warning me that this is not the typical love story and is dark and disturbing, will make me snatch up the book. But it still needs to have an interesting story behind it to keep me reading. And in that respect, Stalker certainly delivered.

I’m just not sure how I felt about the characters. Especially Vanessa.

I just didn’t like her.

I hoped the flashbacks which told the history between her and Phoenix would make me understand her more, but it just made me dislike the woman she had become. Phoenix was an interesting “hero”, and I sympathized with him more than I did Vanessa, because he was in a world that wasn’t of his own making. He had to live with choices that were made for him, rather than getting to take charge of his own destiny. He adapted as best he could, and in a sick way, I liked him because I felt for him. I was disturbed by him, but I felt compassion as well. Vanessa just didn’t cause that emotion in me.

Without disclosing anything about the story or how it ends, I will just say that the warning on the book needs to be heeded. This is not a light romance. This is not a typical love story. This is more of a natural born killers, Bonnie and Clyde type story. Both characters are more anti-heroes than anything else.

But despite my feelings towards Vanessa and Phoenix, I have no ambivalence towards Ms. Wild’s ability to write a story that hooked me and dragged me through to the end, in all of its twisted glory.

There are a few things I learned reading "Stalker" by Clarissa Wild.
1. Clarissa Wild is an evil mastermind.
2. I'm sick in the head and I don't think there is a cure. There has to be something wrong with me. It's not normal. It's disturbing, really. Disturbing to swoon for Phoenix Sullivan.

I don't want to give too much away, because it's best experienced while reading.
"Stalker" is a dark, twisted, disturbing and yet extremely captivating and engrossing tale about love, betrayal, hurt and sacrifice. It's so f*****, I didn't know right from wrong at the end. But damn, I loved every moment of it. Which worries me in its own way, because it's as messed up as it gets and yet, I couldn't stop myself from wanting to read more, from feeling drawn into the darkness that is Phoenix and from finding the sex scenes to be a panty-scorching turn-on.

It's about Phoenix' seeking revenge for the betrayal he experienced by Vanessa. A betrayal that makes him thirst for her pain, for her blood. And once they cross paths again, their worlds collide, taking them down on the road of destruction.

The characters were absolutely amazing. Both, Phoenix and Vanessa had so much depth and personality, there were so many layers to them and with each layer that was removed, I was left more confused, more emotional and more of a nervous wreck.

Vanessa is a woman with a troubled past and even more troubled present. She isn't happy, hasn't been for a long time. No one knows the real her and to some extent, even she doesn't, having lived a lie her whole life, pretending and wearing a mask. But underneath a cold and calculating exterior, the fame and fortune that comes with being an actress, is a young woman who wants love. She wants to be loved for who she is. She wants to be good enough.

And that's something she has in common with Phoenix. Although he is brutal, ruthless, downright scary, there is more to him than that. Through small glimpses it wasn't hard to see that he is broken, damaged and doesn't belong anywhere - never really has. Not wanting to show any weakness, he's become a bad man. No, not a bad boy, but a truly bad man. He's someone without mercy, unyielding in his quest for retribution. But even at his worst, even when his deeds were of unspeakable violence, I couldn't fully hate him and neither could Vanessa.
Because at the end of the day, he deserves to be loved.

Phoenix and Vanessa and their story will stay with me for a long time to come. I think this was my darkest read to date and yet, I could see so much more than darkness in it. No matter how misguided or how brutal, there was so much love. All-consuming, life-destroying, but still love. And whenever it shined through, it illuminated the darkness that consumed Phoenix and Vanessa's life and it allowed me to hold the pieces of my poor heart together, despite the ache that was caused by the characters' pain.

2.5 stars.

this book is literally ALWAYS intense. And so you want to keep going the whole time to know what will happen.

Essentially, Pheonix and Vanessa are two characters you aren't meant to love, they're bad people, they've killed and hurt each other, and in this book Pheonix locks up Vanessa to gain his revenge on her.

My biggest issue here is that I could relate deeply to Pheonix. His love, devotion and obsession with Vanessa is so REAL. The author wrote it so well! But when we read their high school years and Vanessa was pushing Pheonix away, she drove me crazy!!! Yes she had good reasons but he was DESTROYED from her actions over and over and over again! And I hated her for it. I couldn't help but think if she had told him the truth, she didn't need to literally destroy him.

"You see that girl sitting in that chair? She is a fucking liar. I protected her, as I always have. You know why? Because I love her. I fucking love her, goddammit. I have ever since I met her. And you know what? I still do, which is why it fucking hurts here." I punch my own chest.

She then also puts him in jail (from the first book you know this). And she moved in with Arthur.

Yes, Pheonix puts her in a cage and plays with her but my God his passion for her was crazy whereas even at the 80% mark after he declares his love for her and all she tries to backstab him again!!!

So while I loved Pheonix, I kind of hated Vanessa and how much she put him through. His pain from her was so palpable and I hated that she still did what she did over and over and over again. I felt he deserved better. While yes, he needed to apologize for what he did to her, she needed to grovel for his forgiveness for always trying to hurt him. Even after he put his guard down and tells her he loves her. I just couldn't get over how much I disliked her.

But in the end, I believe the last 2 chapters, you FINALLY feel her love for him. But after 2 books of his obsession with her and her cold attitude and constant trying to get him in jail or hurt, 2 last chapters isn't enough. He even has to tell her to STFU and understand they're for each other. Whereas she just tried calling the cops on him again / killing him while he's never planned on killing her at all and instead keeping her.

Some parts in the last 2 chapters were good. After she gets over hurting him.

"I hate you so much for everything you've done. For ruining my life. For taking away everything I wanted. And still my heart tells me to forgive you and move on." He laughs. "Because no matter how much I try... I can't stop loving you."

He's the one convincing her but I think it should be her. I thought she was selfish a bit

"For his love, I could die. For my love, he would kill."

Any book I've read by this author I've loved so a dark romance by Clarissa was certainly a must read for me. The warnings did not do this book any justice. It was even better and darker than I expected. Yikes I loved it.

I'm not gonna go into this storyline. I think the synopsis gives you enough of a teaser. I've gotta say the storyline is fantastic. It's an addictive read that I literally inhaled.

If your looking for a gripping dark read then this is a must read. The author took my emotions and pulled them apart as I was reading this book. I was literally gasping and cursing at my kindle.

This is my favourite Clarissa Wild read so far. Loved it.

Facile: l'avvertenza a fine trama.

Meh :/
Ahm... no.

4.5 creepy stars
He terminado a las 3:25 a.m.

¡Oh, bueno!

No muchos estarán conmigo no muchos darán 5 estrellas.

MY HEART WAS LEFT TWISTED & MELTING, PANTIES DRENCHED, AND MY MIND F*CK*D WITH THIS 5-STAR DARK ROMANCE!

Vanessa Star and Miles “Phoenix” Sullivan are two people who grew up together to only have given dealt a bad hand in life.

"I thought I was your friend. But that's not enough for you."

The story begins with Vanessa as a young innocent child finding the good in everything and everyone, especial a boy named - Miles “Phoenix” Sullivan. Vanessa is also having trouble with life today, but does not know her past is getting ready to collide with her present. Vanessa is an actress now with the fame and fortune, but without happiness. She has become the well-groomed calculated cold-hearted woman her mother wanted her to be, but living a life of a lie is not who she - it is her mother’s life. Vanessa wants someone to love her for whom she is and she knows time is of the essence, because Phoenix is going to come to kill her.

“I reek of fury, and rightfully so. All I can think about is making her suffer the way she’s making me suffer. Lock her up and hurt her. My fingers twist, grabbing the empty air as I imagine strangling her. I can already feel the bones crack.”

Phoenix troubles also begins when he was young, abandon as a child at an orphanage, disliked by all his caregivers, and bullied as a child Phoenix grew up cold and hard throughout his life. The only time he felt warmth in his heart is when Vanessa showed kindness, so he stalked her through her life until her betrayal overshadowed her kindness and landed him in jail. Phoenix is seeking revenge for the betrayal from Vanessa, a betrayal that he is going to plan to make Vanessa suffer for all his pain when he seeks revenge after he gets out of jail.

"She's a devil in disguise. A vixen. A dedicated, but I went let her beauty distract me from my goal. I fucking hate her to death. Literally, I'm going to kill her."

Even though STALKER is a dark and twisted romance, it is a romance captivating your heart in a dark twisted way with LOVE, VENGEANCE, SACRIFICE, and ANGUISH. Can two broken people with damage hearts belong anywhere, especially together? Will Phoenix and Vanessa allow the others in their lives to only destroy their friendship from childhood and darken their hearts destroying their chance for love?

We’re bad, in the worst kind of way, but sometimes you need a little bad in your life … So bad, you realize life isn’t worth living without someone to be evil with.”

Clarissa Wild’s novel, STALKER, receives - 5 AMAZING STARS!

I'm a Dark Book Snob

At least I think I am anyway. Clarissa Wild attached a warning to her blurb, which in my case makes it an instant read. I am a fan of dark books, from the likes of Pepper Winters, CJ Roberts, Lili St Germain and MS Willis. To me, those are dark books where I actually cringed at some parts. Was Phoenix messed up in the head over a girl? Yes he was, however what he did or attempted to do was pretty tame in my realm of dark.

"All I know is using and abusing people to my heart's content." ~Phoenix

Miles is dead, Phoenix has arisen and is on a mission. Fresh out of prison, Phoenix is going straight for the lying b-word that sent him there, Vanessa Starr. A product of the system, Phoenix's life was mapped out for him from a young age. He was violent as a child and only got worse as he aged. Sitting in prison imagining what he was going to do to Vanessa when he got out is what kept him going.

"It only takes a snap of the fingers to repeat the same mistakes." ~Vanessa

Vanessa had her own rough childhood. While she grew up in a nice home with money, her abuse wasn't noticeable to the naked eye. Also having her future mapped out for her, Vanessa bottled up her emotions and did what she had to do. Leaving Phoenix as collateral damage. Now that he's back, she had to admit what she did and wait to see what's going to happen.

Phoenix was a big talker. Lots of threats then lots of emotional break outs from him. I think that's where he lost it with me, constantly threatening Vanessa and rarely backing it up. Plus he had all of the time in prison to formulate his plan, but was kind of a bumbling idiot when it came to executing it.

The book is told from dual points of view while also flashing back to show us how Phoenix and Vanessa came to be. The warning is a bit much, however this isn't a typical romance in the least.

"No matter if we die, our spark will always live on and on." ~Phoenix

DNF-

I hate books that have the MC talking to the reader. It just takes me out of the book tbh and half the time it's never done right. This one didn't do it right. With the MC talking to the reader as well as the added "trying too hard to be bad", it just threw everything off for me. "I'm bad, I'm the baddest of the bad" and "ive done so many bad things bad people fear me" yada yada (not the exact lines but you get what I'm talking about). That's like a school bully strutting around like a peacock, talking a big game, without any real evidence or reputation to show for all the talk. That's NOT how you make people "bad" or "dangerous". You make them that way through actions. Dangerous people don't need to boast about being dangerous. They just are. I wish authors would realize this, JFC.

Then there was the whole "justifying" the hero's actions. I honestly didn't care. It's listed a "dark romance" so i expect some dark shit to happen. Justifying the hero's actions no longer make it dark. That's the whole point of "dark". It's "dark" because the MC does bad things for the hell of it and/or bad shit happens simply cause. "I stopped a murderer and his wife put me in jail so now she'll pay" IS COMPLETELY NORMAL THINKING. ANYONE WOULD BE PISSED IF THEY STOPPED A MURDERER AND WAS PUT IN JAIL AS A THANK YOU. Wanting revenge for a justifiable wrong doing ISN'T DARK. So constantly reminding us that "the heroine deserves this" completely nullifies the point.

I wasn't even at the end of chapter 2 when i stopped reading. It might get better and it might even end up being a really good read for other people so i wont tell people to not read it but i wont be recommending it to anyone either. :/

This one was a doozy! I really enjoyed Mr. X by Clarissa Wild but this was like an exercise in repetition. I swear to God Miles/Phoenix and Vanessa had the exact same exchange of "You're sick! How could you do this to me?!" [evil smile] "Heh, you're no angel, princess. You're getting exactly what you deserve! I'm here to punish you" like a million times with just a couple of terms switched out. The dialogue and personalities were so empty that I didn't even care about what the dramatic flashbacks were building up to. I just wanted their story to go somewhere past the lame taunting and sloppy sex.

Also, I like romances to have actual...romance. Phoenix was such a psychotic asshole that he was really unattractive and charmless from the get go. It's fine to have a male protagonist be a bit alpha or dark but he was honestly hateful and mean-spirited to an uncomfortable degree. I quit reading before their relationship progressed past mind games, but it's hard to imagine him coming around and treating her with any real affection or delicacy and it not feel completely unbelievable. He's unhinged and really gross. I'm sick of the whole "I was lonely and unaccepted by my peers or abused by my family so I have a right to be an unrepentant killer and torment the hesitant object of my desire" backstories that are thrown around to give a bad guy depth. I'm not saying those kinds of paths don't happen but I don't think that should be presented as a rational, empathetic character journey. Tragedy gloating is getting really old.

***An Advanced Reader Copy of Stalker by Clarissa Wild was generously provided to me via the author herself in exchange of honest review.

What a sick, twisted, crazy intense read! But again, just like any other "dark" romance I've read before, the ending doesn't satisfy me. I want more, and I keep waiting for the BOOM but it never came. It's kind of disappoint me a little bit.

Phoenix is exactly a guy you don't wanna mess with. He's evil, psycho and when he hates someone, he'll hate deep. Too bad Vanessa is on his bad side. He now seeks for revenge. And he refuse to back down.

My heart was pounding so hard while reading this book. And as much as I hate Phoenix's style of "torture", I can't help but feel bad for him in a way. Because he has his own reasons for doing what he did, and Vanessa also share some of the blame. This is the first time I read Clarissa's book and I liked her writing.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and even though I was hoping for more clear ending, I still liked it. I'll definitely read the prequel!

ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 Stars!

I recommend reading Killer, the prequel first. It will help with the revenge aspect. I loved Killer and I thought I'd loved this one too, but sadly it fell flat for me. The beginning started out rather well, but I felt like certain parts were repetitive. Not the entire story, no. But I can't explain in great detail without ruining the story. I didn't want to stop reading, but I skimmed some parts to get to want I wanted to read. If that makes any sense.

On the flip side, I have to say I enjoyed the unpredictable twisted plot and the flawed characters. There were twists that kept glued to the pages. Not everything is revealed, it's slowly unwound through flashbacks of both Phoenix and Vanessa's past. The years that shaped the future. Phoenix is the dark hero, I wished he was a bit more darker because I wanted his revenge to be much more than it was. Yes, I'm sick in the head.

All in All, I'd still recommend as a lighter dark, maybe grey. A rollercoaster of revenge, lies, secrets, and murder.

5 Twisted Stars for the wickedly awesome Clarissa Wild's Stalker. WOW... Speechless. I loved every dark and dangerous minute of it.

We have Miles the man of many names who seeks justice for the wrong that has been done to him, and Vanessa the girl he once loved is his prey. What's starts out as revenge turns out to be a conflict of emotions. There are flashbacks throughout story along with duel point of view so we have a good understanding of what has transpired that leads to the events unfolding..

Character development is amazing. The story transition from past to present smoothly...

This was all around a Fantastic read.

ugly book cover.

Complicated story, she betrayed him bc she loved him and needed to survive and he is coming for revenge but ends up weak for her. basically I hate you, I love you, I hate that I love you on repeat.

I appreciate the attempt of making a backstory since the two of them were little and the villain mothers and all but anyway .... not my cup of tea.

I struggled to finish. I usually love a good dark emotional romance but this one was hard to get into. I don't know why. I'm sure it's just me.

5 Stars! ★★★★★
This was Mr. & Mrs. Smith (the movie) meets horror and psychotic love. Jesus! I think there is something wrong with me for liking this book. It portrayed rape, murder, and violence to the extreme.

“I f#cking hate her to death.
Literally. I’m going to kill her.
But doing it now would spoil all the fun. She’s defenseless and doesn’t even know I’m here. There’s no fun in chasing an oblivious prey. I want the hunt. I want to feel the adrenaline and smell the fear as she runs for her life.
She deserves what’s coming for her, but I’m not going to give it to her that easily”

I liked how Miles (I’m not calling him Phoenix. I refuse! Phoenix is not a name. It’s an X-men character) fell for Vanessa and protected her. His obsession with her hot on the border of scary. Few books are able to express that fine line between lust and hatred. This one accomplished that perfectly!

“A quick hit on the back of the neck does the trick, and when he hits the asphalt face-first, he’s out cold.
Then I grab his head and twist, breaking his neck.
One less life on this planet.”
-Miles’ lack of empathy is chilling....

“all I ever needed, even if she wouldn’t give herself to me. That’s what pissed me off to begin with, that she never f#cking chose me. But here’s the thing; she doesn’t have a choice now.
I am in control, and I will make her want me; I will make her need me to the point of her begging me to stay”

***This is a Very Dark Romance novel. WARNING: contains explicit situations, dubious consent, graphic violence, and other disturbing content.

I started reading out of curiosity for this dark love story and stayed out of curiosity for the "non-conventional ending".

It was 100 % intense, ALL the time. I mean it. There was not a boring, still moment. Something was always happening. It's all due to Phoenix being such an intense character. There's no better way to describe him. He was intense through and through.

I didn't particularly connect with the characters, but it is a dark story, so you know the characters are both bad. Though in a sense, the true bad character is only Vanessa. Phoenix actually has a big, broken heart and you can just feel him hurting through the hatred and violence. I wanted to give him a hug half of the time to be honest. Vanessa is another thing. She's truly vile in my opinion. Nothing hurts like being stabbed in the back, and Vanessa did it more than once to Phoenix. She's bad through and through and I don't believe she really loves anyone but herself.

The ending before epilogue was so tragic and beautiful I might've shed a tear. But the epilogue ruined it. So what did you mean by non-conventional ending?
