A Workplace Romance.*He wants me to do WHAT?!*That's my reaction when I find out my promotion--the one I've earned and worked hard for over the past five years--is in jeopardy.I'm Mandy Simon and I've been a Radio Promoter at SoundCheck, the biggest music promotion company in L.A., for five years now. I've worked my ass off to stand out and be taken seriously. A big part of what helped me do that is my Watch List.Since before I started working at SoundCheck, I've kept a watch on all of the local musicians in SoCal. And I know which ones are gonna make it big, based on a list of factors I look for, like stage presence, song choices, and how their style fits with the current radio trends.Ian Markus is gonna be big. Like boy-band big.I bring him to SoundCheck's attention, so they can sign him and reap the benefits of how huge a star he's gonna be. That should be enough to secure my upgrade to Concert Promoter. It should be... but it isn't.Why? Because I make the mistake of dating my boss, Miles Anderson. (Technically Miles works for SoundCheck's parent company, Boyer-Cranston Investments, but he's currently acting as the SoundCheck Marketing Director until we get a new one.)And when I break things off with him, he makes my professional life a living hell. What's worse, he drags, Jake Taylor, one of the Boyer-Cranston clients into the mix and puts the company's investment at risk by giving me an ultimatum I don't see coming. Now, not only is my promotion on the line but so is my reputation and my career. And if I don't figure out how to do what he's asking of me, I'm gonna lose everything... including Jake, the Boyer-Cranston client I've fallen in love with.

loved, Loved, LOVED, SoundCheck!

Wow, what a great story!

I'm a fan of Jennifer's blog and started reading "SoundCheck" to see how she put her own ideas into action. Let me just say that I was happily blown away! This is a wonderfully crafted, character driven story that had me on the edge of my seat flipping through the "pages" on my kindle as fast as I could go.

Highly recommended, Jennifer's on my "need to read" short list.

Not the genre I usually find myself immersed in, but this was a fun read written by a good friend, by the way.

That was an exciting, fast paced read. The first fiction published by this author and I felt worthy of 5 stars for me because it's not my favorite genre and I remained riveted. I have checked out the author's on line writing presence and classes and was immediately impressed by her drive and energy. That's what made me want to read her book to see if she practiced what she preached. Well, she does that and more. That same energy is present in her writing and I found it challenging to find a slow spot anywhere in the book ... not there. Not only was it t not my genre but I am well past my 20's and found it refreshing to enjoy a story from that perspective ... she designed the story around the characters' struggles with their own levels of maturity and showed how they chose to rise up and take control of their lives. I really liked the characters. The protagonist had some serious flaws but you worked with her through it, like any friend would. Great work, fun story!

So good.

I was a little eery about reading Soundcheck, because I wasn't sure if it was a book that I would enjoy. I was wrong. Author Blanchard' s Soundcheck is an amazing story that is really relatable to life.
Mandy is stuck in the past, holding onto a memory, goal of teenage dream and the love of her life, whom died tragically. She guards her heart and won't let anyone in. She surrounds herself with work and stays busy to accomplish the dream that she and her past boyfriend had. However, this story focuses on her learning to love, learning what love truly is, and learning to trust, all while dealing with a past acquaintance who has it out for her. Miles Anderson, tries to ruin everything she has worked so desperately to build, he ends up leading Mandy on a journey in finding herself, and a love like no other. I highly recommend this book to all.
Author Blanchard did an amazing job.

I won this book from the author herself and I know her personally which is awesome. It is so a major bonus but even if i didn't, i would've still read it because her name rings bells. I have read her other titles as well and they were also very entertaining and informative. She is one of my coaches and teachers when it comes to writing and she is doing the damn thing. i got her shelved at a couple of the local libraries as well. I'm not usually into romance but this here had music and romance in it. some parts were predictable others just took you on a complete journey. i apologize Jennifer it took me so long to finish it but i did and now I'm writing a review for it.
The book cover was very attractive and the story was pretty good too.
I say give it a shot and check it out yourself and then make your own opinion but I guarantee you will enjoy it.

I decided to read Soundcheck because I admire Jennifer Blanchard's energy on her blog and wanted to see how her first novel came off. Since I usually read Christian inspirational fiction, I wasn't sure what I would be getting into.
For a self-published debut novel, it's good. I didn't care for the font, but that's a personal preference, and yes there were some typos, but I find that at big publishing houses, too.
The story itself drops me into the setting of the Los Angeles music/entertainment industry. It's a cut-throat, dog-eat-dog world, but Mandy Simon still has some tenderness in her in spite of her ambitions. She's flawed and lovable, and the growing attraction between her and Jake as she works through her feelings about Miles kept me turning the pages.
Enjoy.
