Narah Adrienne is a bounty enforcer in the near future. She runs the seedy side of her game, capturing criminals too dangerous for the local law enforcement. Using unorthodox methods, she finds herself in the crosshairs of the Magistrate for too many allowable kills for the quarter.

And her head hurts like hell.

Aeslin is part of an elite vampire squad of Turners. A rare sect of vampire scouts who possess the ability to find women with enough undead blood to be turned into full vampire. As the numbers of supernaturals dwindle, it is the hope of the Nobles that extinction can be a thing of the past with female hybrids.

In a race against time and common enemies, can Aeslin find the one female who is meant to be turned and also his parallel soul? Or will the fabled carrot the Nobles dangle turn out to be a lie perpetuated by desperation?

Vampire is 44+ pages/10,000 words, and is the first volume of episodic novelettes in the ALPHA CLAIM serial.

Merging her writing styles of Tamara Rose Blodgett and Marata Eros, we get a fresh new series that sizzles and delights.

Narah is a powerhouse bounty hunter with just a little too much excess force for her quarter, bringing her to the attention of a crooked Magistrate.

Aeslin is an elite vampire warrior. His job, find the woman with enough vampire blood to become a full turned vampire and potential vampire mates. But they have been running up against an adversary set on destroying all possibility of breeding by sterilizing the potentials.

In a race against a hunter with a zealous cause, Aeslin must reach Narah before its too late...but Narah is not without her own abilities for personal protection.

This is a wonderfully fresh, fast paced novella, giving us just enough to whet our appetites and leaving you wanting more.

I received this copy of Vampire: Alpha Claim 1 from Tamara Rose Blodgett for a honest review.

In a world where humans, hybrids and supernaturals all exist, one tough female bounty hunter fights against the darker side of life, where even law enforcement fears to tread. The odds seem stacked against her because of her size, but where overpowering brawn does not exist, Nahra uses her brains and determination to capture, kill or defeat her targets. Are her methods sometimes over-the-top? Sure, but she gets results, although perhaps she could be a little less lethal, as there are legal kill limits and Nahra has been an “overachiever” and crossed the line, a few too many times. She is being called before the magistrate for punishment, but first she needs to actually make it there and it seems there are two beings determined that she won’t. Are they both evil or is there more happening than meets the eye? Will Nahra’s career come to a screeching halt? Will her life change in too many ways to count?

Tamara Rose Blodgett and Marata Eros are like the Doublemint Twins of Dark Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy! Two styles in one! Seriously, having read each style from TRB/ME, why they haven’t combined forces before is beyond me. The tension, the dialogue and the characters scream to be noticed, while the plot comes to life and practically engulfed me completely. The attitude and dialogue of Tamara Rose Blodgett and the dark tension and bite of Marata Eros, a win-win for readers who like strong women and great storytelling! There is no doubt that this dynamic duo is a force to be reckoned with in the fantasy world!

Let me preface this review by stating that I normally don’t read paranormal. That being said, I found Vampire Claim to be very intriguing. Intriguing in the sense that I was taken into a world unfamiliar to me, yet felt as if I never left. VC has, in true Marata fashion, every element you can ask for in a story. Intrigue, suspense, action, drama, and a female character with sass. Marata has the ability, whether she’s writing paranormal or dark erotica, to make me feel. Feel, as if I am the character she’s writing, feel as if I am the character I’m reading. Vampire Claim is the perfect introduction to what I know will be an amazing series and I’m intrigued and excited to see what will happen next and there is no better author (in my opinion) to take me out of my reading comfort zone than Marata.

Immediately I'm brought into a world of Turns, vampires and hunters and I am totally smitten already with this serial.

I love how the story comes alive in your head, I was pulled into this story willingly at the first moment when we meet Narah, and increasingly excited to read more after meeting Aeslin (I know right she always has the best character names – I find this important)

I love the supernatural world hiding among the Human world with Tamara's own little spin on it.
I loved the two hearts that the vampires have and all those tattoos, makes the imagination work all that little bit sweeter to conjure up images of the characters. The world building is brilliant and oh so interesting.

I Loved Narah right away she has some sass in her I love it.

Aeslin is Oh My Damn!!! Want one!!!!

There is so much going on typical of this author/artists work which I undoubtedly LOVE!!!! But is still incredibly easy to follow and leaves you wanting more, and you know you will get more!!!!

All up a really clever intro to the series with enough imagination and heart and sex appeal to want to read on with the next one. Although no actual sexy scenes still incredibly hot with with their later accounting of their meeting.

I most definitely will be continuing on with this series.

Please note this has a cliffhanger but the next 3 installments are already out, So get to reading!!!!!

Incomplete

I understand this is a freebie, but when the story gets interesting it abruptly ends. I truly hate bits and pieces. This book is bits and pieces of the authors series. I rather had a whole book and then continue to read the authors other books. But I am sorely disappointed. I never give had reviews, but I feel tricked. Not enough to say whether I would purchase this authors other books. Sorry.

Yeah... this is gonna have to be a DNF, which I rarely do. But it cannot be helped. It was disjointed in the narration. The complex social construct of Half-Vamparise fighting and killing Vamparise but also not being allowed to as they are supposed to capture them for what purpose? Can't be anything good outside of experimenting on them if they are such a danger to the wide populous. And this is what starts off the book, the h is being reprimanded by her superior for excessive use of force when she is supposed to be capturing them for whatever even more reprehensible reasons than just killing them off might await them in captivity. Then it devolves in this whole "you really shouldn't be doing this job anyways as you are a woman" spiral, I say spiral cuz the h falls down that rabbit hole too and laments on the fact how she is not being taken seriously as a hunter cuz she is a woman, yada yada, very original sexism in the workplace still present in the future, fascinating.
I would have no problem going through the pains with the h as she fights the patriarchy IF, this is a big if:

1. The world set up was not so disjointed
2. This audio narrator Marata Eros didn't do such a monotone blaze job at portraying various voices and intonations for various situations.

Apparently, there is another kind of half-breed vampire hunter faction that is focused on hunting as well but mostly hunting female half-breed vampires for breeding purposes. Cuz the other faction, where the h belongs, is the one that hunts Vampires AND finds breedable half-breed? (unclear on that) females and sterilizes them so they can't create more half-breeds. Yeah, it doesn't make sense to me either. I mean I was gonna stick with the story going to try to find out which is which but then the story jumps back and forth between various story points of view, h, then there is H and then there is some of H's palls (which made me think this will be a harem story) and the audio narrator does such a bad job at distinguishing between the voices of these hopefully distinct and different characters it became a pain to try to understand it all. AND YET I was willing to stick through it hoping it will get better but then the audiobook jumped to another chapter? I don't know it said part 2 or something right in the middle of the intense battle happening and mentioned some new character I had no idea who it was I realized this was no headed anywhere good after all.

It was doomed to be a confusing and infuriating as the audio narrator has shown to be.
Personal note: No books narrated by Marata Eros

I predict this turns out something like this in the end:

I received this story for free under the title Punished. Yes it's a dark fantasy but really verges on more. It really needed to be edited better and there were so many unanswered questions. I also found quite a few inconsistencies. One of the silliest was the undoing of micro braids in a matter of minutes. One of the more troubling was just unbelievable that a torture victim was good to go mentally after the victim's rescuers failed to save her from horrific torture.

I could have maybe loved this story, the idea of it is awesome. the writing was good. how ever.
first off its a serial. I HATE those, and this one is even worse then most .. and last but not least. it just ends! a cliffhanger a big one.
as much as I could have liked this story I will not be reading the rest. I feel totally ripped off even though this first part was free.

The story had potential and there are 6-7 more after this one, but I won’t be reading them. This is one time I wish I would have looked at reviews first. Firstly, it’s very short (idk 40 pages?) and then it cuts off at the end. No cliffhanger, literally middle of scene. Guessing this is a serial but wasn’t listed as such. Gave it a 3 because I got it for free and it had potential.

This was a very different story from what I usually read. I got to the end, and damn, it ended. Now I need to find out what happens next.
Something that did annoy me was all the italics when characters are speaking. It was quite distracting. Speech is not usually italicised unless it is a thought or to emphasise something.

Super short and more of a teaser. I had a hard time following the character voice changes. Not super distinguishable between any of the main characters, even the female. Another one from this author that ends on a cliffhanger.

This was pretty good and got interesting really fast. However, it's an episode (which I again did not read/see) so it ended when it was getting really good. Interesting, good characters (so far), suspense, a little action, but no HEA. Has a cliffy! Good luck

Narrah

Unique story. Introduces three main characters but fails to elaborate on their future roles. This is the first installment in a serial but I don’t think there’s enough allure to make me want to continue reading.

Here I come, sweetheart. 5 GOLD FANGS

Who the *BEEP* are you? Your salvation. I just barely hold back a snort of self-serving comedy. WOW!! Talk about making one helluva Brief-Bites® entrance and what a VAMPIRELICIOUS way to kick off this Vampire Alpha Claim serial!! There are so many parts & pieces that I love, Love, LOVE like the snarky humor (my favorite kind!), the characters and the way that this is told from their viewpoints, switching between 3 of them - Narah, Matthews & Aeslin, but done so it is easy to follow! In fact, my connection to & with the complex characters feels so real I have a hard time remembering that they are fictional! There is also the way that Tamara tells her stories with attention to detail, lush, colorful descriptions & multifaceted characters that all perfectly intertwine in & around and together to pull you into the story, making it explode to life in my mind’s eye, … actually, I could go on & on, so in order to keep this review shorter than the story itself I will just say that the only thing I DON'T love is that there aren't 500 books, each being 1,000 pages long, for me to buy, read & love over & over again!! wink Armed with her tremendous talent and true gift, Tamara has created a very unique & captivating vampire story that stands above all others! I can’t think of any that are written in a somewhat similar vein to even compare them to! They truly are one in a trillion, in all of the best ways possible!

I have actually already read this serial & reviewed it based on the serial as a whole, so for more thoughts on this part – and all others – please check out my review on the box set here - https://goo.gl/CdF6wZ

Short read

Didn't realize it was such a short novella, and a cliff at that. Good premise, and makes you want to continue the story.

This story was a thrill ride from beginning to end! Obviously, I loved it! It was exciting and dangerous, frightening and crazy, sexual and sensual. These are things that go hand in hand when you're talking about vampires. The characters are well developed and fascinating. Thought they shared many of the same qualities, they each reacted in a different and compelling way. The relationship between vampires, humans and hunters is intricate, and it was wild watching all of the lines become blurred and, in some cases, crossed. Though there was a dark thread through the entire story, it didn't squash the hope that continually sprang up. This is one of the attributes, of Tamara Rose Blodgett's writing, that I like most. Once again, I must thank her for taking me on another wonderful, exhilarating adventure!

a very short story but keeps you intrigued and wanting more. it's worth the read.... narah is a bounty hunter and she will be getting judged for killing on her assignments. Aeslin is a vampire Turner and he is in the hunt of a female who is ready to be turned and needs to do so before someone sterilizes her and they lose her forever. Matthews is on the hunt to sterilize narah so that she won't become a vampire nor be able to breed at all. what will happen next is what you need to read. is their a cliff hanger? yes and did I mention I don't like them because I want to read the next installment like now. lol... it's a fantastic read! I honestly recommend if you like short stories, paranormal and fighting.

Narah is a bounty enforcer who captures those too dangers for local law enforcement. Aeslin is a vampire trying to capture or turn females with vampire genes before they are caught by the hunters (who stop them from having children) to save the species.

Narah doesn't realise it but the headaches she has been having are because she is has the vampire genes. She is also in trouble because she has exceeded her quota of allowable kills. Will Aeslin get to Narah before the hunters and before she is punished?

I really enjoyed this novella and it is a really good introduction to the series. Certainly I want to read on and find out what happens next.

A totally different Action Adventure Thriller for Narah Adrienne she is a tough as nails Bounty Enforcer from Sioux Falls and is not afraid to take on anyone or thing to get her credits her boss Casper is very upset right now because Narah is suppose to bring down 10 bad targets per month and she is surpassed that she is being brought in front of the Magistrate because of this and he looks like he hates her and informs her that he will be taking care of her case personally in 3 days. I found this series to be very interesting and I found that I continued to want to read the next book. I purchased these books and am providing an honest review.

This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBoom dot com.

I wasn't too fond of the start of the story. The main character comes off a little snobby, surprised that she has to see the magistrate for killing too many monsters. She should have seen that coming and imo she deserves the punishment she gets. The story picks up as Aeslin is introduced. As a teaser for a longer story, I like it. The narrator did ok, but didn't really stand out.

I read this based on the fact that I loved the authors Reflection series. I guess I should've paid more attention to the genre's as this is thinly veiled smut. The way the series treats women as sex objects that must be controlled is .....disturbing. I will never understand the appeal of these kinds of series, but I have noticed they seem to be the most popular while the authors less...slutty series are not. A shame as I found her fantasy/sci-fi books very unique and fascinating.
