Do you like sirens?
What about vampires?
Wait, wait, what about a small town featuring every possible creature from your paranormal or fantasy stories?

Kate Callaghan’s latest book has all that and more.
I expected all sorts of things, but this story is unlike anything else I’ve read so far, and it is irresistibly, wonderfully lovely.
The characters are fascinating and charismatic.
The chemistry between them is incredible from the very first page.
I mean, the pairing of a siren and a vampire is simply unique.
Even if you think it wouldn't work, believe me, it is extremely exciting and well done.

Gideon and Aerin may be an unlikely couple.
At first, this leads to some hilarious situations and dialogues.
But the longer you read, the more interesting and bewitching the story becomes.

I enjoyed and loved every second of this book.
I hope it turns into a series, as there is so much more to write about this small, unique town.

She Wanted His Coffin, Not His Heart 🌊🦷

🌟🌟🌟🌟 4 Stars

Aerin lives alone on a cliff, calms a Kraken with sour jellies, and has never been welcomed by the sirens of her own town. Gideon wakes in her basement convinced it is 1823. She wants him gone. He wants to know who he is. Neither plan goes smoothly. 🧜‍♀️🪦

My favorite scenes were the quiet ones. Gideon finds Aerin drinking alone at the pub on the anniversary of her family's death, and he takes care of her without taking advantage of her grief. That one scene told me more about him than any of his honor speeches. 💙 His first look at the Kraken from the cliff edge is a close second.

The comedy is gentle. He is baffled by a shower, a microwave, and a car that nearly runs him over, but the book never laughs at him. 🐢 The festival chapters, with the haunted house and the museum masquerade, make it a good pick for October. 🎃

When his memories return, one of them is painful to read, and it changes how he feels about the creature Aerin protects. 🩸 The love scenes are open and fairly intense. 🔥

My one frustration was how often a memory conveniently surfaced right when they touched. It moved the plot along, but I noticed the pattern.

Content notes listed by the author include grief, memory loss, violence, and self exit.

"Salvaged by the Siren" by Kate Callaghan is part of the interconnected standalone "Indigo Cove" series.

I received an advance reader copy from the author.
Opinions from this review are completely my own.

Tropes:
- paranormal romance
- siren and vampire
- small town
- close proximity

This is such a lovely story.
Aerin is a recluse siren, spending her time protecting humans from the monster in the cove and diving for artifacts to be able to keep her crumbling manor standing.
She finds a precious cargo long buried beneath the sand and an amnesic vampire.
Gideon was closed in coffin under the sea for over 200 years.

Even if they seem an unlikely pair, Aerin and Gideon become friends and they develop feelings for each other.

She is helping him recover physically by bringing him blood, and mentally, but recovering his memory and searching for information about his past.

The mix of mystery, paranormal and romance is done very well and I enjoyed reading the book.

Indigo cove has a new fan!!

One of the things I love most about Kate's books is they are always the perfect mix of paranormal creatures like vampires and sirens and witches but it also gives all the cosy vibes of smalltown found family .

After being trapped in his coffin under the sea it's going to take Gideon some time to get back to full vampire strength and maybe remember who he is.

Luckily a Siren called Aerin is the person to find him and protect him while he remembers. What starts out as wary friendship soon turns into much more and Aerin realises that she can have friends and family after loosing all hers many decades before. I mean who wouldn't protect their heart if you are immortal.

She is so scared of loving people she pushes them away only to realise that some cant be pushed away (looking at the double trouble twins haha).

A perfect read anytime of the year but also scarily good right now in the runup to Halloween.

Now I'm off to research the rest of the Indigo Cove series because I'm totally Hooked!

Thanks to Kate for the opportunity to read an advanced copy

This was my first monster romance and omg I adored it !! Their dynamic is so perfect. The banter back and forth, her constantly saying she wants him gone when it’s clear she doesn’t. Him getting an ego the more he settles around her. The pure love and attraction!!

An Immortal Siren who has lost all her family. She is diving for treasures to sell to fix up her house when she finds a coffin and inside is Gideon. A Vampire from the 1700 who has been buried under sea for 200 years and lost all his memories.

He still believes men and women can’t be together without a chaperone or her reputation shall be ruined, that he must court a woman, must bow to everyone.. but he’s now in 2026 and she’s trying to teach him how to behave. And help him find his memories so she can get him out of her house and back to where he belongs..

Whilst also trying not to fall in love with him when he’s deeply attractive especially the more he fills back out with blood!

I've been a fan of Kate's books for a couple years now so of course I jumped at the chance to read and review her new book.

I loved the cozy, fall vibes of this seacoast town of Indigo Cove.
Aerin and Gideon's story was heartfelt and emotional at times.

The writing is descriptive and easily draws you in - captivating you.

The characters- though mythical- are relatable in their personalities. I like when I can connect to a character's personality and Aerin and I are a lot alike - stand off-ish, reclusive, we don't like to "people" but we are kind and wear our hearts on our sleeves.
Gideon - well he's a tall, sexy vampire with amnesia and very swoon-worthy with his 18th century self. Think Eric Northman looks with a Benedict Bridgerton personality. Um, Yes please?.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading the rest of the Indigo Cove series - which are all interconnected standalones - each written by a different author. Check them out on KU.

Well I have to admit a Siren and a Vampire seen an unlikely pairing but somehow it worked . Aerin never wanted a Vampire lodger just his coffin but hey ho that's how it goes ! Aerin is used to her own company, prefers it even but somehow the oddly courteous Vampire gets under her skin (literally at one point uh oh ! ) .
Gideon is desperate to regain his memory of how his ship went down and what happened to his crew. Together the couple hatch a plan but with their home being turned into a haunted house for the festival is the town really safe from a Vampire who has been blood starved ?
This just pulled me in and although at times Aerin was a grumpy FMC. I definitely wanted her to get a happy ending as underneath she has a huge heart . Gideon was a sweetheart and just tried so hard to be the perfect man ahem I mean Vampire. Supporting characters added to the fun and although I wasn't terribly convinced by the end I still had a good time reading this book.

Received this as an ARC to read.

I found this such a cute read.

Follows FMC Aelin was human now Siren who salvages the walters for a living. She uncovers a coffin to discover that there is an ancient vampire in it.

She takes him home to nurse him back to health.

Aelin lives in Indigo cover which is filled with all mystical types of beings like Warlocks, Other sirens and this place is protect by magic so their true indenties are covered by the humans who comes to visit.

Gideon the MMC is our ancient vampire and when he finally wakes up has no memories and he is stuck in the time of 200 years ago so doesn't know that everything has changed and all he wants to know where his crew and ship is so Aelin decides to help him try and uncover the truth

He is such an adorable character in the way he speaks and how is so old fashioned but as he regains his strength we start to see his mischievous side come out but not in a bad way.

Story carries on with Aelin trying to help Gideon the best she can to find out about his past and to try and recover his lost memories.

Gideon doesnt do well in listening to orders so we always find him where he shouldnt be which is so funny.

As the story unfold we get to find out about Aelins past and how she keeps her self to her self and is a bit of a loner.. She doesnt really spend much time with the other sirens however she got kind of roped into hosting a halloween event at her house and with Gideon being bny her side we get to see her making some real connection with the people around her.

There is a bit of miscommunication throughout this book between the two which was little frustrating to read but it all works out in the end.

Tropes

Hes her burried treasure
Immortal Siren
She rescues him
Fangs VS Claws

Aerin has pretty much ostracised herself from her fellow Sirens living in Indigo Cove. The town may be run and operated by supernaturals but as a made Siren, Aerin has never felt completely one of them. Finding a golden coffin during ocean foraging was not on her bingo card but maybe the money she could earn from selling it could fix some of the dilapidated house she lives in. She did not expect to find a vampire within!

Gideon wakes in a dusty basement with a raging thirst, well he has been out of it for over a century! The beautiful but stand-offish Siren looking after him does her best to help but his memory has more holes than Swiss Cheese. He just knows that this new world he has awoken in is going to be hard to navigate without her help.

A quirky small town, a Kraken watchdog, and the small mystery of just who Gideon is all gel together in a fab wee story. Aerin and Gideon are both older than they look but Gideon is also anachronistic, he has so much to catch up including world events and technology.

Aerin has lost so much in her relatively long life and you can't help but feel the loneliness wafting from her. Gideon could have taken advantage, user her vulnerability against her but he is her staunch supporter, even when she is being snippy with him.

There is steamy romance, heartfelt moments and a few heartfelt moments as both Gideon and Aerin process their loss.

Thanks to the author for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
I enjoyed this book more than the first I read by this author (crowned a traitor). The story of the siren and the vampire includes use of accepted myths about both mythical creatures, so world-building was unnecessary. I've not read any other books in the series which are written by other authors.
The main characters have an interesting dynamic, but I didn't really feel there was much romance, despite Gideon attempting an old-fashioned courtship. I thought that the mystery of where Gideon had come from was concluded too rapidly at the end of the book, and there were some mistakes in spelling, choice of word / phrase and grammar which led me to reduce my rating.
An ok paranormal read.

Aerin went treasure hunting and came home with a vampire. Honestly, I’ve brought home worse things shopping. 😂

I had so much fun with this! A prickly siren and an old-fashioned vampire trying to figure each other out made for such an entertaining pairing. Aerin’s sass, Gideon’s attempts at navigating modern life, and their back-and-forth had me smiling so much. And him wanting to properly court her? Okay, sir. You have my attention.

There’s spice, a mystery to unravel, and a little supernatural town I would happily wander around. Preferably with someone making sure I don’t become dinner. Beneath all the fun, I loved watching these two lonely people find someone they could let in! 💙

4.5⭐️

This was soooo good!! I was really excited about breading about a mermaid and a vampire 😮‍💨 and oh boy it was everything I wanted and more, I loved how Gideon was from the 1800’s because the way he courted Aerin was both sweet and fun to read, I love Aerin and my heart broke for her when I read about her last and why she’s a mermaid, I love how they both managed to fall in love and be the exact thing the other needed it without even knowing 🥹💜

This book is the perfect one to start spooky season and I’m looking forward to read the rest of this series ✨

QqAnother enjoyable read from Kate Callaghan! I’ve read all her books, so I’m always happy to pick up something new from her. Salvaged by the Siren was a fun paranormal romance, and I loved the idea of a siren and a vampire coming together, with mystery and missing memories thrown into the mix.

It was an enjoyable read, and I liked the supernatural side of the story. While it wasn’t quite a five-star read for me, I still had a good time with it. Kate is an author I keep coming back to, and I’m sure I’ll be picking up whatever she writes next!

Siren Aerin is looking for treasure underwater when she finds an elaborate antique coffin. Needing money to fix up her decaying house she brings it home only to find when she opens it that it's occupied. Vampire Gideon had been laying in the ocean for about 200 years. Aerin brings him back to health hoping to send him on his way and keep the valuable coffin. But things don't always go as you plan them. Good story. Likable characters.

I really enjoyed the dynamic between the main characters, the tension builds up nicely, and the banter kept me hooked from the very first chapter. It’s got that comforting, immersive small-world supernatural feel that makes this series so binge-able.

While the pacing in the middle dipped just a tiny bit, the payoff and the atmosphere more than made up for it. If you've been following the series or love monster/paranormal romance with a lot of heart, this is definitely worth picking up!
