Beyond Bedrock

Rate this book
“She was the worst kind of evil. And I opened the door and watched her walk right on into our lives.”

A story of obsession. A story about fatal attraction.

Addison and William Hartman’s once tumultuous affair is mostly a thing of the past. These days it seems they have it all—that the world is literally at their fingertips.

Settled into a marriage that is anything but normal, it appears they have the give and take in the bag. That is until Addison makes a fatal mistake. When Lydia Hammonds enters their lives it isn’t because she needs a job. It’s because she wants everything Addison has worked so hard to build, and she’s hell-bent on having it—no matter the cost.

Just when it seems that their strength together will overcome any obstacle, fate—or perhaps something more sinister—conspire to see that their worst fears come true.

Due to heavy subject matter, strong language, and sexual content this book is for mature audiences.

Grab a drink. Settle in. I’ve got a quick story for you.

It starts, as most good stories do, with someone chasing a feeling.

Picture a Texas writer surrounded by five kids, two literary dogs, one unreasonable cat, and a partridge in a pear tree—all orbiting a household powered by caffeine, chaos, and sheer willpower.

Instead of getting into trouble in real life, she decided to invent it on the page. (Healthier for everyone. Mostly.)

She didn’t set out to write the perfect thriller, but she has been chasing a certain feeling for years—chasing the perfect story.

The kind that makes you miss your exit, burn your dinner, or stay up later than you meant to.
The kind that makes a reader say “just one more chapter” and lie to themselves beautifully.

Some writers chase awards.
Britney chases that feeling.

You might call it persistence.
She calls it passion—the only real secret ingredient behind thirty-plus books and counting.
Always reaching for whatever that elusive green-light moment is.

She hasn’t caught it yet.
But that’s half the fun.

This series became a case of "author should have stopped after the first one". Each book became less and less and I am more disappointed at having taken time to read the additional two books in the series. The plot from the first book seems to be on repeat here as well. Oh well, on to the next one!

I was so excited when I found out Britney was doing a third book in the bedrock series. I fell in love with William and Addison throughout book 1 and 2. But book 3 absolutely blew me away. This is by far the best book in the series.

William and Addison are both settling into their lives of being married. Of course these two have already been through so much that I was thinking they couldn’t possibly go through anymore. And boy was I very very wrong. Britney introduces us to a new character and this person literally turns everything William and Addison have worked on and accomplished upside down.

Britney tore down my emotions in this book. One minute I would be so happy for William and Addison while other times holding my breath to see how things turned out. There were actually a few parts in this book that I actually cringed while reading. Even though William and Addison had already been through so much William still managed to piss me off a time or two in this book too. But I fell in love with William a long time ago so I shouldn’t expect any different.

I hate reviews with spoilers so it’s very hard for me write this review. There are so many things that happen throughout the book that left me speechless. Many times I would find myself asking how will this end and does this book have an HEA? Guess you will have to read to find out!!! Don’t miss out on this fantastic book it will literally blow your mind.

This was a brilliant and exciting ending to the Bedrock Trilogy. I was highly impressed with the things that happens in this book. There are twist and some of the things that happens literally left me with my mouth hanging open. Britney gave us a new and very disturbing character and I hope to see more of this person, because I kind of liked her in a weird way. The things that William and Addie had to endure was heartbreaking, and made me wonder how they would work through it. William will always leave me wanting more, and I loved how Britney told more of him and some of the things he went through. And Addison, man this chick has been through so much and still comes out strong and wanting to continue to be independent. She is a woman that many of us chicks can look up to. Even if she is only a book character, she makes me want to be more like her. I enjoyed reading this book, and I am sad that Addison and William’s story is over. Their story will forever stay with me and I know I will have to reread this Trilogy again and again to have my fix of them. Great job Britney! Highly recommend reading this and Britney’s other books! Will not be disappointed!

This is the third and final book in the Bedrock series. Reading the previous two books in the series is a must. As well as the story continues on you really don't want to miss these wonderful books.

I can remember reading book one Bedrock back in October '13. The emotions and feelings I felt stayed with me when I read book two Breaking Bedrock a few months after. Now eighteen months later I find myself sitting here overwhelmed with emotions after just finishing Beyond Bedrock.

This was an epic third book in this fantastic series. I can't praise this author highly enough for such a great series. She threw in unpredictable twists and turns that had me gasping. I truly felt the emotions of the main characters while reading this.

Go 1-click this amazing series, grab a strong drink and enjoy the roller coaster that the author will take you on. I absolutely loved it. These books will certainly be staying on my kindle for a re-read. There is no doubt that this series is definitely in my top five favourite books ever.

Beyond Bedrock review

When I picked up Bedrock a few years back I never knew the journey I would take with these characters. I feel as though I have been there with them threw some of the most tragic and triumphant times of their lives. Addison, will always be my favorite female character. She is strong, determined, she does not allow people to define her. What I found from Bedrock through Beyond Bedrock was her need to “be herself, no apologies.” The power of a love for another human being and more so your children can pull you through anything, and she proved that time and time again. Britney King’s writing in Beyond Bedrock is her strongest to date. She had me in tears because the emotion she is able to pull from me as a reader through her written words is an epidemic of awesome proportions. I could go on and on but I will simply but it this way…..when you set out to read a book you never know how it will go. When I read Bedrock, Breaking Bedrock and finally the closing chapter in the series Beyond Bedrock I wanted to reach for the phone and tell Addison what an impact she had on my as not only a mother, but as a wife, and a woman. So Britney for that I will always be thankful that you shared this story with me the reader. Now to William…what can I say? There was always something about him that I connected with. He was and is for me the ultimate puzzle. So strong, powerful, with a silent grace that is understated and beautiful. William’s journey in Beyond Bedrock broke my heart. He fell apart before my eyes and I didn’t know how to put him back together. I wanted to fix him….he made some poor choice, but ironically for the right reasons. He tried to fix himself, his marriage the only way he knew how and it was painful to read. It sill gives me chills to think about it. But like most things in like what we perceive as the “right reason” may in fact be the wrong one. And the flashbacks to his childhood, as a parent or any human, took my breath away. I wanted to, needed to save him. What William was never wrong about was his love for Addison and his family. William needed to let others in to truly open himself up to the woman he loved, and that was scary. It is scary for everyone to let someone in at that level. Britney’s writing of William and Addison is so pure I felt connected with them from the first book. Interestingly the spin in Beyond Bedrock was brilliant…no other words to describe it but true genius. As a reader you know the book is so well done that you don’t even need to see the “William stated” after the quotes to know who is speaking. I was pulled into the minds and motives of all the characters. At times I was happy and scared, wishful and frankly mad enough to spit nails. I guess this review is my long-winded way of saying The Bedrock Series is beautifully written dialogue of life and love. A true account of the ugly and the perfect times when no one sees them but it feels like everyone is judging them. Britney these books are a masterpiece that I am just happy to say I was able to experience. As always Bravo!!

Are you into dark fiction ? Wanting something to read that is a bit more grittier and edgier than your usual romance story ? Beyond Bedrock takes us into the life of William Hartman and his wife Addison . We discover that William was abused growing up which led him into the world of BDSM where he met his wife Addison whom was trained up by her boss Sondra who features quite a bit in this book. The book starts with a letter to William from a woman who is locked up in the psych ward - Lydia whom is obsessed with William and feels that they are perfect for one another and are meant to be and she won't let anyone stand in the way of their happiness even if that means elimnating the competition - William's wife Addison. This was quite an interesting read as it delves into the mind of an obsessive stalker who has built a fantasy world in her mind which she believes is a reality and will do anything in her power to make it "real" for her and she is willing to do "whatever" it takes. The book then jumps to three years ago, when this all started and how Lydia weaved her way into William's and his wife Addison's lives and the steps that led them where they are all today - Lydia in a mental hospital , Addison kidnapped and locked away somewhere and William - searching for his wife and the only one who knows where she is , is the women who is so deranged, she thinks William loves her.
If you love and enjoy Dark Romantic Suspense and have an understanding of mental health and illnesses and the lengths that some people will go to get what they believe is theirs all along, then check out Britney King's edgy book "Beyond Bedrock" which readers, this can be read as a stand-alone or part of the series.

**Received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review**

Hot Damn this book was freaking awesome. It really kept my adrenaline going - so much drama, suspense, thriller and murder and all because of a woman who wanted what she couldn't have.

Talk about having a psycho who just has the power to overpower everyone and anything. It scares me because usually the men are the psycho ones in a book, but this time it was a woman who was relentless and wanted what she just couldn't have. She was so obsessed with looking like Addison so she could have what Addison had, she wanted Addison's life and her husband. Lydia wanted William badly but William never seemed to give her the time of day. He only had eyes for his wife, Addison.

So Lydia found that she had no choice but to take matters into her own hands. Addison suffered in the hands of this woman who was crazy and wanted her life. The torture Addison went through with this woman was just thrilling and frightening.

Lydia was fearless and was not afraid of what she could do. She was a sneaky woman and a real good one. She seemed to know how to plan her schemes and not get caught. She was a really good manipulator.

Just glad that everything worked out the way it did but the ending really had me hoping for another book -- to me this feels like a cliffhanger. Britney, I hope you reconsider in making another book for this series because you left it wide open for another book in this series :)

Total two thumbs up -- very entertaining and will keep you on your toes with all the suspense and drama involved in this third book in this series!

Total ***** stars for this thrilling and exciting read!

**MOST LIKELY WILL CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS!!!!**

It has finally arrived, book #3 in the Bedrock series and what a "conclusion" it was! I must admit I wasn't expecting THIS to be the way Britney went with the conclusion, but WOW. (Not that I really know what I was expecting.) In Beyond Bedrock Britney takes us deeper into William and Addison's marriage and shows us the lies, half truths, etc. that lead to the breakdown of their marriage and Addison's need to get away. Little do either of them realize what will happen when she leaves town for a "few" days. It didn't take me long before I decided I wanted to reach through my Kindle and strangle Lydia, but even so I didn't realize just how evil she really was and what she was capable of. We also see just how strong Addison really is and that love and determination can help you survive the worst situations, as well as a positive attitude. Don't play the part of a victim, even when you are. There were several times while reading that I was sickened by what Lydia was doing to both Addison and Bryan. My heart was very happy for both William and Addison by the time Britney is wrapping it up. As the book comes to a close, Britney leaves us wondering where is Lydia and will they find her? The answer to that my fellow readers will have to wait for another day. I believe there are two lessons that Britney is trying to teach us or points she's trying to get across and that is 1. Be careful who you trust and 2. You never know what's going to happen from one minute to the next, so make the most of each one.

This book blew me away! The Bedrock series is the first books that I have read from Britney and I have to say I loved them all, but this last book is amazing! William and Addison have settled into married life, almost to the point of blandness. Not on purpose of course, everyone’s marriage goes through ups and downs.
William is still having issues and nightmares, and he doesn’t let Addison help. Addison is sucked into her life as a mom, wife and having a successful career. She seems to be almost neglectful of her marriage and to William.
There is of course a twist, and I didn’t see it coming. We get to meet a new character in this book and her name is Lydia. We get 3 different points of view in this book, which I really enjoyed. Britney takes us on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Just when you think things are going to get better, it seems that is not the case and everything is turned upside down. I started this book and finished it all within a 5 hour period. I could not put it down, and I was at work! I just had to find out what is going to happen! There were a couple times where I had to step away from my kindle because I could just imagine what was going on and it was so real! Absolutely 5 stars, I would give this one OVER 5 stars if I could. Please start with Bedrock and continue on with this series. I especially liked how Britney wraps this one up.

Great Book!!!! Great Series!!! Britney King you have done it again!!!

Loved the book and loved the characters. Loved the story greatly. William & Addison’s story is fantastic and full of love and warmth. They have problems and issues that have to be dealt with and they deal with them like us all do. They have faults and that makes them human.

When Addison gets taken and you are in the point of view of all three people pretty much at the same time it keeps you in the story. That’s the great thing about Britney King, she is a master story teller. She puts you in their lives and that’s exactly what she’s done with Breaking Bedrock. It seriously crazy good!

Not sure I loved how the book was put together with the dated letters to each other and that sort of thing. However, it did keep thing organized and I think if it hadn’t been for that it would have been really confusing. The story was very entertaining and I loved just experiencing it with Addison and William. Setting it up this way kept you in touch with each of them. It made it slightly harder to read and it took a bit longer but it was worth it in the long run. Fantastic story!!!!

Highly Recommend!!!!!

I’ve just been on the crazy train for a bit and needed a minute to decompress after getting off. This was like Single White Female meets Fatal Attraction and makes a baby named Basic Instinct..I mean WTF!!

Addison and William are settling into their life together but with everything they’ve already been through what more could happen…crazy a** Lydia is what. So we pick up with Loony Lydia writing William (from the loony bin no less), pretty much telling her version of how she sees their relationship. This chick is straight up PSYCHO and I loved every bit of it. To read from her POV was different as I’ve never been in the mind of someone so disturbed. This woman will make you cringe which was totally weird but in a good way. We also get this story from William and Addison’s POV so you’re always clued in.

Because this is part of a series it’s so hard to review this without spoiling it. This book has murder, sex, love, crazy stalker chick and a HEA that is so deserved you will give a standing ovation. So 4.5 stars for this conclusion to a damn good trilogy.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Wow!! What a great read! This book had me hook, line, and sinker! I could not put it down! It was beautifully written and was very fast paced. No dull moments here!
We get three different point of views in this book and It was perfect. It really made the story come to life.
We start out with William and Allison settling into married life. William is struggling with his past and he is not communicating with Allison about it. Then Allison hires a new assistant and all hell breaks loose!!
This story was brilliant. It has love, lust, mystery, and twists and turns that will leave you reeling. It is a story like no other!
I'm so hoping that there is more of this story to come. Definitely a must read!!

This is my first Britney King book and its book blurb intrigued me enough to sign up for the blog tour to review it. In hindsight I do think it would have been more sensible to read book one and two to understand all the underlying things that this couple had gone through beforehand. Apart from that going in blind straight to book three didn't cause me as the reader too much confusion. It was abit slow in the beginning but once I got into the rhythm of how the book was presented in letter style chapters it was quick and easy to be absorbed into. Letter style format probably isn't my favourite writing style of how a book is presented though. I would like to read more of Britney's work in the future. A copy of this book was given in exchange for an honest review.

What can I say... Beyond Bedrock, was great. It was written differently then I expected. At first I wasn't sure I felt about the style in which it was written, but I ended up loving it. At about 35% I couldn't put the book down.

There were so many twists and turns it had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I love Addison and Williams love story and despite everything they went through (let me tell you.. It was ALOT) it still shines through. Addison held onto her love for William and her boys to help her get through a horrible situation. One I wouldn't wish on anyone.

If you haven't read any of this series, you are missing out! The first two books were 5 star reviews for me.. This one comes close at 4.5 stars. Thank you for the wild ride Britney. I'm glad I jumped on it!

You killed me of course I read it all in one sitting I couldnt stop. Pure evil. I thought this book was going to be all cute and heartwarming. Totally threw me for a loop from the start I was so pissed at William. Then the more I read I didnt know who to believe and each turn got twisted more dark. Like I said I didnt know you had it in you to write such dark, sick and sinister. Floved it I didnt know if I wanted to rip someone apart , scream or cry. At the end of it all you left me hanging wanting more NO THIS CANT BE OVER AHHHHHH. So with that insane rant I need four padded walls and a strong drink. Im in shock I think I might need Mental Therapy. Thank You for an amazing read..

William and Addison have been through so many obstacles in their lives together: they have seen heartbreak, kidnapping, love, marriage all head on and while at some points not physically together always emotionally in sync. It left me wondering what else could there possibly be to tell, I won't spoil the book but I will just say Britney has done it again, telling more of this heart wrenching, emotional and raw love story. It's goes to show the True Love Conquers all!

I wasn't sure if Britney King would be able to write a 3rd in this series with how well Breaking Bedrock ended. But not only did she do it, she did it amazingly well. Beyond Bedrock follows William and Addison after they are married and shows everyday struggles married couples have. Throw in a phyco and some danger and you have a book that keeps you wanting to turn the page. This is a must read and definitely 5 stars. Well done Britney, you did it again.

Britney is never one to disappoint with her books. I was excited to learn of another book in the Bedrock series and this one was just as great. She did a phenomenal job of bringing her characters to life and you can truly feel their emotions throughout the book. Definitely an adult novel however you get a little bit of suspense, erotica, mystery and other aspects throughout the novel. Can not wait for more from this fabulous author.

I can't get enough of Addison and William. Their love story just keeps getting better and stronger. Britney did not disappoint in their latest adventure. What an adventure it was! You get a little sexy and a lot of mystery. What is happening? Why? How long? How long have I been holding my breath through that scene? Who is this new freak and why is this happening? Check out book 3 to find out!

Wow

Addison and William become the targets of another nutcase. They also have a few marital problems that they don't deal with right away. That allows the nutcase to create havoc in their world and kidnap Addie.

Great ending this time.

Well damn.  I did not like the way it ended.  I feel like there is much to be resolved.  But on a happy note, book 3 was fantastic.  With the way book 2 ending it was as if it was all over, till Scott's crazy daughter shows up.  And man is that woman psycho.  Britney King sure does write psycho well.

Lydia Hammons is in love.  Unfortunately he does not love her back, much less knows she exists.  Her object of desire, William.  That's right.  After coming to pick up her father's ashes and to plot her revenge, she sees William for the first time.  Revenge?  What revenge?  She is in love.  He is tall, dark and handsome and soon to be hers.   Or so she says.  Unfortunately for Addison, she is again in the sights of a psychopath.

In my last review in the series for book 2 Breaking Bedrock, I mentioned it was better than the first.  Well move over because this book blew me away.  It is the best of all of them and is absolutely twisted.  Britney King out done herself with this one, writing a very complex and psychotic delusional sociopath.

Britney King writes crazy very well.  Another edge of the seat thriller with heavy emotions.  The story was extremely realistic.  Reading this book is just like watching a movie on the big screen.  It is well plotted out and unique.  I just have to say "that bitch be crazy!!!"  That Lydia is off her rocker and has lost all her freggin' marbles.  I was really worried there for a bit about Addison.  I was especially worried William was going to go off the deep end and end up in jail.  This book has a lot of crazy and a lot of death.

Again the book was fantastic.  The series was excellent.  Very intriguing and exciting characters with a unique and wonderful plot line that flows flawless and smooth throughout all three books.  I can't say this enough...Britney King is the goddess of romance thrillers.  Her books grab your attention and will take the air right out of your lungs.

I really had hoped that the end would wrap up nice.  I feel as if I am on a cliff wondering if they will always be unfinished.  I can't say much more or I might spoil it.  ;(  This is a five-star series and I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes a dark and dangerous book.  But if you are sweet and innocent  minded and easily offended, then maybe you should skip this one.

I just finished the 3rd book in the Bedrock series!! It was just as good as the first one if not better if that's possible!! I want more! Beyond Bedrock left me hoping that there's more books in this series to come. I'm so wrapped up in these characters and their lives that I want to know what their future holds. These books keep you constantly on the edge of your seat!! If you haven't already, go buy all three books in the Bedrock series! You won't be disappointed! Britney King is an amazing author!

The third installment of this series was by far the best of the three. You have to love Lydia and her creativity in this book, but Addison and William were wishy-washy to me. There were some horrific twists here, and it would be interesting to know how the Hartmans proceed after all of this. Lydia's terrorizing of the Hartman family and her outrageous actions would be too terrible for the average person to recover from. Good read!

My friend won this book through Goodreads Giveaways and then passed it onto me. I didn't read the first 2 books of series. As much as I liked the book, I would have preferred to read the first 2 so that I had a better background story on the characters. The book is a lot of letter writing about what happened versus an actual as it happened book.

This series is described as a "Gripping Psychological Thriller" what it doesn't tell you is that it grips you around your neck and runs with you, as your heart pounds in your throat and you can't put the book down until its finished, great characters, brilliant story and it messes with your head.
