Dossier 20: De Daddy Vinci Code
Waarin Agent 327 niet ontkomt aan de Daddy Vinci code-mode en de beerput van de historie opengaat. Waarbij mafiabaas Don Vitale door een ongelukkige samenloop van omstandigheden zijn huishoudster verliest en Agent 327 een humeurige Olga Lawina op een ijsje van Daddy Vinci trakteert. Voor goed en wel duidelijk wordt wat er allemaal speelt zijn Olga en IJzerbroot ooggetuigen van een overval op de ijssalon van Daddy Vinci. Ze gaan achter de schurken aan en volgen het spoor naar Rennes-le-Château, waar naar verluidt de schat van de Katharen verborgen ligt. Of die van de Tempeliers. Of de Heilige Graal. Wat dit alles te maken heeft met de waarheidszoeker die in Rennese aan de Zeeuwse kust speurt naar het bewijs dat herschrijving van de geschiedenis van Europa noodzakelijk zal maken? Goede vraag!
Voor wie de in stripalbums gepresenteerde dossiers van Agent 327 – het geweten van Nederland – niet kent: Agent 327, die in werkelijkheid Hendrik IJzerbroot heet, is het geesteskind van auteur Martin Lodewijk (1939), die ook naam en faam geniet als bedenker en scenarioschrijver van de immens populaire sf & fantasy-reeks Storm. Voor zijn gehele oeuvre ontving Lodewijk in 1978 de Stripschapprijs, de hoogste onderscheiding die de Nederlandse stripwereld kent. Martin Lodewijk is getrouwd met Ted en woont en werkt in Rotterdam.

The twentieth entry in the Agent 327 series which is basically an hommage to the Da Vinci Code. Although an hommage is pushing it too far maybe. Lets say it does take the mickey with the concept.
When Agent 327 takes his female colleague for an ice cream cone at the ice-cream saloon of Daddy Vince the place gets robbed and the owner is being kidnapped. Agent 327 takes up personal time to find the owner of his favorite ice-cream saloon and the tracks send him and Olga Lawina to France, Rennes-La-Chateau where a maffia boss from the States has decided that the secret treasure of the Cathars is being hidden and Daddy Da Vinci is of course the last priory of Sion who has the secret of the hiding place of this treasure.
The story ends in Renesse in the Netherlands where the treasure is being guarded by the Templar guardians and there is a big confrontation between the Maffia, the Dutch Secret Service and the Guardians of the treasure. It could be called a Mexican standoff except there are nog Mexicans involved in this story. The impasse gets broken by an unexpected party that sends the Maffia Don and his men back to the US, the Guardians of the Treasure back to work. As for the holy grail it gets lost again perhaps this time forever.
Another batcrazy Dutch spy tickler of the funny bone, another perhaps last comic book concerning this hero as written and drawn by his original writer Martin Lodewijk.
The agent's name has been changed in several languages:

German: Otto Otto (O.O.) Eisenbrot
Norwegian: Henrik Eisenbrot
Spanish: Enrique Panférreo
Swedish: Otto Otto Gärning
Another anarchic take upon the world of spies and crime, totally not PC butall done in the best possible taste, or not.
