About the author

Karen McCombie is a bestselling author of children's and young adult novels, and has had more than 90 books published. She is the author of the much-loved series 'Ally's World' (early 2000s) and her most recent books include the Carnegie-nominated historical adventure 'Little Bird Flies' (2019) and it's newly published partner novel 'Little Bird Lands' (2020, Nosy Crow Books), plus the 'St Grizzle's School' series for younger readers (Stripes). She has several books publishing in 2021.
Originally from Scotland, Karen lives in London with her husband, her teenage daughter and beautiful but bitey cat Dizzy.

This was a fantastic book, I found it to be very enjoyable! Edie's parents argue, mine do too. I wish that there were more people like Alice in the world, she seems such a sweet, thoughtful and individual person. I really recommend this.

I really enjoyed this book although I have to say that if you are the sort of reader that likes big plot twists and lots of adventure, then this book is not for you. I also highly recommend another one of Karen McCombie’s books, the whispers of wilderwood hall.
Alice B Lovely has quite a slow start but gets better as you read on.
It is about a young girl named Edie, who hates nannies. Although one day Edie’s mum sees advertisement for a nanny in the library. This nanny is a strange nanny, she is young, and has an interesting taste in fashion.

i always enjoy Karen McCombie's books even though i've quite old now lol but her books always make me smile.
there's always a sprinkle of magic or hope in them. =)

also the main character was very sarcastic and can come across as mean at times which i can relate to. :/

Amazing. I absolutely adored it. It was one of the best books that I've read. And that's saying something! Loved this so much. Hoping to read other books by this author. If i find them in the library of course!

Read this book a few years ago, just picked it up from the library. A truly wonderful book! Loved it! It's an easy read that should take no less than a few hours!
