While she does admit to taking some poetic license in her storytelling, she loves to incorporate the real people and places of her hometown into her stories. She says anyone who visits Danger Cove is fair game for her poisoned pen, so tourists beware! When she's not writing, Ms. Ashby enjoys gardening, taking long walks along the Pacific coastline, and curling up with a hot cup of tea, her cat, Sherlock, and a thrilling novel.

This tale follows a lady lawyer Keely Fairchild, who gave up her job due to stress-related illness, and now goes around authenticating antique quilts. She doesn't make quilts herself. The location is the Pacific Northwest. Antique is clearly relative as no quilt here can be more than a few hundred years old, but a supposed charlatan passing off newer quilts as antique annoys all the local quilters. Is he really a fraud? He claims to have provenance for all his quilts.
A death occurs swiftly, but I found it very odd that someone should say, "It didn't look like natural causes, but we probably shouldn't talk about it until the police get here." Most of us would be wondering if there was a maniac on the loose and if so whether everyone was in danger; certainly from America we hear of little else.
The image of blood seeping into a beautiful quilt isn't pretty but that's about as bad as it gets, with much questioning of alibis and connections. Some of the quilters see their work as art, while others are straightforwardly commercial. A museum also features. Keely doesn't seem to have a personal life and other than questioning people, doesn't come across as strong or dynamic.
If you are interested in quilts you may be delighted with this mystery. If you are just interested in antique artefacts, you could also try the more amiable mystery The Pot Thief Who Studied Georgia O'Keeffe by J. Michael Orenduff.
I was sent an ARC and this is an unbiased review.

t is great to get back to Danger Cove, this time we have Keely Fairchild who has given up her high powered job for health reasons, she has retrained as an appraiser of quilts, her first paying job though goes wrong very quickly with a local businessman ending up dead and one of her new found friends is suspect number one. Now she needs to remember her legal training, her appraisal training and her health training to figure everything out before someone decides her career progression is that of corpse!

I will admit that I had some problems with this. I can't go into too much depth without giving away spoilers, unfortunately. A couple of things as an example, vaguely speaking: There was just too much repetition of a med condition; I definitely sympathize with it, it was just there too often. And an incompetent official run amok and allowed to jump to conclusions too quickly. Some other repeats; perhaps too many red herrings. The story was interesting, though. I understand the fervor of collectors. Also the quilting angle caught me as my late sister was an avid quilter. The singing director was a kick. Loved what MCs house used to be.

I have been enjoying the books in the Danger Cove series and this one is no exception.. Four Patch of Trouble introduces us to Keely, a former high powered partner in a law firm that had to find a new career and make major lifestyle changes due to health problems. These changes led her to Danger Cover and a new career as a quilt appraiser. Who would have ever thought appraising quilts could be dangerous?
During the course of an appraisal, she ends up thrust into the middle of a murder investigation - the absolute worst thing possible for her health. Because her friends are also involved, Keely ignores her health to help her friends, putting forth more effort than the prosecutor or police.
This is a great cozy mystery that fans of the genre will enjoy.

Keely Fairchild ex lawyer and now quilt appraiser has moved to a small town to try and free herself of the stress that was causing her ill heath. The death of an antiques shop owner who was passing fake new quilts as antique quilts changed all her best intentions as a little old lady was the prime suspect in the murder and she was asked to help defend her. Lots more happening but I’m not telling any more. I do recommend this book so go get it and get ready for a jolly good mystery read. And May I mention the beautiful cover art. Really makes the eyes go straight to it with that quilted pin cushion and other notions.

Keeley moved to Danger Cove after her syncope forced her to change her jobs so she became a quilt appraiser thinking it would be less stressful. As she is trying to get a permanent job with the musuem one of the most influential people, who happens to be a quilt dealer, is murdered. So she is trying to establish herself, save some elderly quilters, control her syncope attacks and maybe possibly have a little romance. Great fun reading

What an interesting group of Quilters in this town! They crack me up with their antics. Enjoyed all the new additions to Danger Cove too. Really great mystery, that I was sure I'd solved a few times throughout the book only to discover I was completely off-base. Not interested in the exquisite details describing Quilting works of art? Just skim through or skip the paragraph. It's worth the read.

Who knew quilts could be a dangerous business? Turns out the wrong quilt could be life threatening. Loved following Kelley as she appraises quilts and turns up some surprising discoveries. Lots of interesting characters as well as twists and turns in the story. If you like a good mystery, you'll love this book.

I think this one was my favorite so far in this series. Again the author did a tremendous job of keeping me from figuring out who the killer was. Looking forward to book 5.

Quilt for life or should it be death
Stunning! Being a quilt appraiser should be a laid back position. However when a dead body turns up and your reputation is on the line that is definitely not the case. Will she find the real killer before she herself ends up in the morgue. Great read.

I love the Danger Cove series. However, this one dragged a bit for me. I liked the characters but I figured out who the murderer was when the character was introduced. Moving along to the next in the series.

Fun and fast read
This book was a fun and fast read especially great for vacation reading. As a quilter myself, I enjoyed the details about appraising antique quilts. I look forward to reading more books in the series.

A compelling read
I love cozy mysteries and I love quilts so what was there not to love about this book? And it lived up to my expectations. Well written, logically put together and a group of unbelievable characters who are all possibly the murderer.

Great Quilt Story
I enjoyed this story about ascerta
ining the legitimacy of old quilts and determining their value. It takes hours and hours to plan a quilt, pick the colors, and sew it. All these old ones were made by hand. This is a great story.

This was an odd one compared to the others. It didn't wrap up well at all and left some outstanding questions. I don't think I want to read any more of this series.

Who killed Randall J. Tremain and why??? I have several old quilts and I am sure they aren’t fakes!!! I enjoyed this story and recommend the book.

This is the fourth installment in the Danger Cove Series from Gemma Halliday Publishing. I have really enjoyed all the books in the Danger Cove series. I highly recommend getting all of them! The main character in Four Patch of Trouble is Keely, a former high powered attorney that had to find a new career and make major lifestyle changes due to health issues. She comes to Danger Cover and starts a new career as a quilt appraiser. What could be dangerous about quilting? Keely soon finds out.
During an appraisal, she ends up in the middle of a murder investigation, which is not good for her health. Her friends are involved so, Keely ignores her health to help them.

so i enjoyed reading the 4th book of the new multi author mystery series that takes place in danger cove-- since each book introduces us to a new mystery solver - you do not have to read the books in order- though so far each book has brought mentions previous residents. In Four Patch of Trouble we meet keely fairchild a recently high power criminal attorney suffering from a health problem which causes her to pass out when under stress - so she changed her career and became an antique quilt appraiser- no stress involved right? WRONG doing a friend a favor she is just happens to be at the suspected crooked dealers shop when his dead body is discovered- then the guild president is arrested for murder- keeley now uses her court room skills to prove her new friend innocent of murder -- problem is being new to the area- she does not know just who she can trust-- are the quilts real or reproductions? as she unravels the clues and gets closer finding why the antique shop owner was killed - she is forcing herself into stressful situations that is causing her to almost pass out- will she find out who did it before she passes out 1 last time at the killers feet-? and will we ever find out what is in her vault at home- and whether she and a certain reporter are becoming an item- for the answer to these questions you will have to read the book--- one of things i liked about this book was the way the author explained the law and quilting terms in an easy to understand manner and also threw in some quilting history to boot-- i enjoyed this book by Gin Jones but then i read her other series Helen Binney mysteries - and i am looking forward to the next adventure in danger cove-- - I was given an ARC for an honest review -

This is another great Danger Cove Mystery! This is the fourth book in the Danger Cove Mysteries Series. I love how each book in this series is written by a different author. Each author has their own writing style that brings each character to the town we have grown to love. Keely left her life as a high powered lawyer and moved to the small town of Danger Cove. Keely has a medical condition and was advised to eliminate the stress in her life. She moved to Danger Cove to become a quilt appraiser and get asked by a friend to appraise a quilt of a dealer who is suspected of selling reproduction quilts. While at the dealer’s shop she finds the dealer murdered. When the local police arrest the wrong person it is up to her to find out who the killer is before someone else ends up murdered. If you are looking for a great mystery, with great characters then you need to read this book. I can’t wait until the next book in this series comes out.

Delighted with this entry in the new Danger Cove Mysteries, written in this case by Gin Jones, who also writes a cozy series featuring Helen Binney.
As in the Helen Binney books, our fair protagonist has a medical condition and manages pretty well on her own, thank you very much. Keely Fairchild has abruptly quit her job as high-powered lawyer because she developed syncope--which means she faints when she gets overstressed. Now she's building a business as a certified quilt appraiser.
You'd think it would be a quiet job. But all sorts of threads (cough) get tangled up when she takes on a quilt appraisal for a museum and a quilt dealer ends up dead.
Good pacing, interesting characters, kept my interest throughout. Looking forward to more from Gin.
